Our time in Bali has now spanned two glorious days, and the island's embrace has been nothing but warm and welcoming. The fresh vistas, the people, the exquisite food, and the breathtaking transitions from dawn to dusk—experienced alongside my family—have been utterly splendid.
Just earlier, Ebony, Solèigh, and I embarked on a cycling adventure that took us meandering by the river's edge and over the arching bridge. As we were concerned about Solèigh's safety riding her own bike, we decided to purchase a trio bike that could accommodate all three of us.
The bike was a great solution, allowing us to enjoy the ride together and take in the gorgeous scenery as we pedaled along the riverbank. As we crossed the bridge, we felt the cool breeze in our faces and the warmth of the sun on our skin. It was a perfect day for a ride, and we were grateful to be able to experience it together.
I had some initial concerns about whether Solèigh would enjoy herself, being the only child on the trip, but she's been absolutely delighted. There's a variety of children's activities, and we've been joining in to make sure she's having a wonderful time.
As I lounged on the comfy couch placed outside in the lush backyard of our luxurious villa, I couldn't help but smile as I observed Ebony attempting to learn the TikTok dance that Solèigh was impatiently teaching her. I chuckled as I grabbed my phone and snapped some pics of Solèigh's impatient expression and Ebony's struggle with the dance moves.
"You're not doing it right! You have to jump forward while I jump backwards!" Soleigh exclaimed, throwing her hands up in frustration with Ebony. Ebony glanced my way, her eyes filled with fear as she faced the scolding from the 6-year-old. I shrugged, not wanting to get involved, and shifted my attention elsewhere.
"Yes ma'am! lets try it again." Ebony declared, mockingly surrendering to the little commander, her hands raised in defeat. Solèigh, nodded, pressed record on TikTok, and they resumed their dance. I pressed my lips together, suppressing a grin as Ebony had a misstep yet again, unbeknownst to Solèigh.
They persisted in their efforts until Ebony flawlessly executed the dance. Under Solèigh's bossy guidance, Ebony was determined to perfect the routine. With the day's heat escalating, Solèigh retired indoors to find respite from the warmth.
I lifted my gaze to Ebony as she approached, my eyes leisurely trailing down her figure. Her crop top, ceasing just beneath her breast, clinging to her shape, while her bathing suit bottoms impeccably sketched the contours of her wide hips.
The stretch marks etched upon her hips seemed to come alive, enhancing my admiration. Her rich, dark skin, lustrously moisturized, caught the sunlight in a shimmering display. Desire surged within me at the sight of her before me, and then she gracefully descended onto my lap, her legs straddling either side of me.
Enveloping her slender waist with my arms, my hands ascended to her cheeks, grasping a generous portion and tenderly caressing it. Nestling my head into the nook of her neck, I breathed in her captivating scent. "You look so beautiful and peaceful. It suits you wonderfully," I murmured softly, gazing into her almond-shaped eyes.
A shy grin appeared on Ebony's face, revealing her deep dimples as she immediately buried her face into my chest. "Can you please refrain from saying such things? You make me feel like a giggly schoolgirl with a crush," Ebony complained, causing me to burst into laughter at her adorable flustered state.
"Yeah? Is it a good or bad thing?" I asked, teasingly tilting my head. It was amusing to see her getting a little flustered while trying to keep a straight face, but that beautiful smile of hers just kept growing wider.
"Good thing"
I softly hummed as I leaned closer, adjusting her position on my lap before roughly pressing my lips against hers, savoring the sweetness of her full, rosy lips. Our lips remained locked, while my hands explored underneath her crop top. Gently, I began caressing her breast, feeling the softness before I tightly squeezed her nipples, causing her to let out a low moan of pleasure.
I could feel the comforting warmth of her as I held onto Ebony's hips firmly, providing support as she gently swayed back and forth on my thigh, riding out her orgasm. Initially, I wasn't sure if it made her feel pleasure, but as she arched gracefully backwards, a cascade of whimpers escaped from her lips. "Fuck! Jorja, I'm gonna—" Ebony's words stumbled amidst her breathy moans, making it challenging for her to form a sentence.
When suddenly, her pace diminished, a crease of worry carving her brow as dread painted her features. In an instant, we sprang from our seats, urgency propelling us toward the door, guided by the series of Solèigh's cries coming from the room she were in.
I quickly made my way to where Solèigh was perched on the floor, clutching her leg while huddled near the space heater. Tears streamed down her cheeks, painting a poignant picture of distress. I knelt before her, my heart pounding with fear at the thought of a serious injury, "Solèigh! What happened? Let me see your leg, baby," I said, my voice quivering with concern.
"I tripped over that cord and accidentally fell onto the heater. My dress got caught on it too. I-it hurts," Solèigh whispered, her tears flowing even more profusely. She extended her leg towards me, and my heart sank as I beheld the swift impact the space heater had left on her upper leg.
The color shifted rapidly, taking on a deep purplish hue. I gasped audibly, overwhelmed with empathy for the girl, contemplating the immense pain she must be experiencing.
I glanced at Ebony, who was standing motionless in the doorway. It was as if she was there in body alone, her mind somewhere far away. No sound or movement came from her, just a fixed stare at the bruise marring Solèigh's leg. "Ebony! Ebony! Can you grab the first aid kit from the bathroom?" I called out, my anxiety creasing my brow as I observed her distant demeanor, her silence speaking volumes.
Recognizing Ebony wouldn't budge, I carefully released Solèigh's leg from my hold and hastened to the bathroom. Retrieving the first aid kit from beneath the sink, I returned and knelt before her. I opened the kit, extracted a tube of ointment, and with a Q-tip, I gently applied the substance to the bruised skin. The unexpected contact made her recoil and hiss in a sharp intake of breath.
"This will only take a second, and then I'll get you an icepack to ease the stinging, alright? Just hold still for a moment," I reassured Solèigh, aiming to soothe her discomfort. Glancing up, I realized Ebony had vanished from where she'd previously been standing.
I completely get why she was so silent. I understood her hesitation to get involved in something that brought back painful memories from her past. It was clear that Ebony hadn't fully healed from her past experiences, no matter how many times she claimed to be okay or said she had moved on. I knew deep down that she wasn't.
Certainly, I didn't want to make this about myself, yet at times I felt powerless in my attempts to assure Ebony that everything would turn out fine, to provide her with solace. I drew in a sharp breath and reached out to Solèigh, aiding her to her feet after I had finished tending to her wound.
I escorted her to the couch and eased her into a seated position. "I'll be right back with an ice pack for you," I promised, eliciting a nod from her before I headed to the freezer.
Seizing the ice pack from the freezer, the chill seeped into my palm instantaneously. A tinge of disappointment washed over me upon realizing Ebony was not in the kitchen, her whereabouts still unknown.
I exhaled softly and handed Solèigh the ice pack, along with a bag of cookies to distract her from the ordeal. "Make sure to stay still so the ice pack stays in place. If you need anything at all, just holler for Ebony or me, okay?"
Following that, I planted a gentle kiss upon Solèigh's forehead and set off on a quest to locate Ebony. She seemed to elude me in all six bathrooms, bedrooms, and even the kitchen. Anxiety gripped my heart as I hastened toward the back door, hoping to find her outside where we had been earlier.
"Ebony?" My voice pierced the silence, spotting a figure perched upon the sofa at the yard's farthest reach. Recognizing it as Ebony, I advanced with slow steps, observing her form curled protectively, knees drawn to her chest and arms clasping her frame. The sky was darkening as the sun set, signaling it was time to go back inside.
I reached out, hoping to bridge the gap with a comforting touch, but she flinched, eyes wide with alarm, as though I were a stranger oblivious to personal space. "Don't fucking touch me!" Ebony's voice cut through the air, sending my heart into freefall for the umpteenth time that day.
Ignoring the profanities, I gave a simple nod and approached the empty seat beside her. With my gaze fixed forward, I allowed the weight of the uncomfortable silence to settle around us. I was more than willing to wait, to be patient with Ebony, hoping she would eventually grasp my intentions.
"Ebony, I know you're not feeling well, and I'll respect your need for space. However, since it's getting late, I would feel much better knowing you're safe inside with us." I explained.
As Ebony remained silent, my words seemed to dissipate into the air, unheard and unnoticed. When I turned my gaze towards her, I couldn't help but notice the headphones snugly nestled in her ears, isolating her from the world around us.
The music emanating from them filled the space, drowning out any attempts at connection. In that moment, it became painfully clear that she was purposefully shielding herself from my presence, as tears streamed down her face.
I yearned to envelop her in an embrace, to offer kisses, to cradle her close and soothe her with every act of comfort I could muster. Yet, I knew such gestures were forbidden, as she had clearly expressed her need for space. The thought of overstepping her boundaries and potentially deepening her distress held me back, despite the overwhelming desire to offer comfort.
I breathed out nervously and cast a final glance at her, realizing I had to go back indoors. Solèigh had to prepare for bed since we had a long day ahead. I could only wish that everyone would still be enthusiastic about it.
"I love you, Ebony. I'm sorry that my words may not be enough to support you, but please know that I am here for you. Please come back inside soon." I uttered, hoping my voice could cut through the loud noise blaring from her headphones.
As I spoke, she continued to avert her gaze from me. It was at that moment that I felt defeated and helpless. Suppressing my emotions, I turned around to walk back into the house, while wiping away a stray tear that had escaped my eyes before Soléigh would see me.
As I headed towards the living room to prepare Soléigh for bedtime, I took a moment to silently offer a prayer for Ebony's well-being. "How is your leg feeling? Does it still burn?" I pulled up a seat next to Soléigh and glanced at the almost melted ice pack on her leg
"Only a little bit, but it feels better." Solèigh admitted with a slight pout on her lips. I nodded, extending my hand to assist her in getting ready for bed. After all, we are on vacation, but if we let Solèigh stay up all night, she will be too exhausted the following day.
As we headed upstairs, I let her undress while I picked out some nightwear for her and a shower cap. Returning to the bathroom, I poured some pink bubbles into the water and helped her get into the tub. In a moment of playfulness, a cluster of bubbles found their way to her mouth. Her tiny face screwed up in an expression of sheer distaste.
"Yuck!" Solèigh sputtered, her voice muffled by the bubble intruders.
"Doesn't taste good, does it?" I teased, chuckling at her look of distaste as the bubbles invaded her mouth, watching her vigorously shake her head. Once certain she was fine and safely settled in the bathroom, I withdrew to afford her some privacy. As time slipped away, the day's light faded to evening, and we all nestled in for the night.
Well not all of us...
Ebony never came back to bed.
