"You really didn't see the sadness or longing unless you already knew it was there. But that was the trick, wasn't it? Everyone had their disappointment and their baggage; only some people carried it in their inside pockets and not on their backs."

LEGACIES: Hope's Point of View

"Wait a minute! Cute puppy boy, Scott from History class is a werewolf? Lizzie exclaimed as I nodded. We had arrived in the halls for another mind-numbing day at the not-so-normal Beacon Hills High School.

After last night's revelation, I couldn't stop thinking about him. How red his eyes glowed in the distance kept bringing me into a daze. He's strangely beautiful.

"I can't believe it! This universe actually has other supernatural creatures," Lizzie says. "Yeah, but the question is if we can trust him." I said once we got in front of my locker. "Well, he trusted you enough to admit it," Lizzie declared. "Yeah," I nodded, placing textbooks into the locker. "That was only because she had seen him in his wolf form," Josie says and then cocked her head to the side. "Or half wolf-form?"

That was the thing. I had realized after seeing him that while there are werewolves, I don't think they are anything like the wolves back home. They were completely different. It makes me wonder what else is out here in this world and just how different things are in this universe.

"We should tell the boys right?" Josie asks me. I glanced at her unsure and reluctant but I also didn't want to lie to them. And eventually I'd have to tell Dr. Saltzman. And maybe Scott and his friends could help figure out how to get out of here.

But even as all these thoughts and questions roamed through my mind, I didn't trust Scott or the others as much as I wanted to. It's not safe for them to know everything about me and my friends.

I still don't really know him.

"Maybe," I shrugged. "We can tell the guys. Let's wait before telling your dad. I need to see if I can trust Scott first." I declare to the girls. They agreed and we ended up meeting the boys in the hallway, getting ready to tell them the news.

PERSPECTIVE SWITCH TO 1ST PERSON: SCOTT

I slid into the parking lot of the school on my motorcycle with a certain redhead. Or not. Is auburn considered red? I don't know but Hope has been running through my mind since I got home yesterday from the woods.

I didn't know what to really think but I felt grateful that Hope didn't go crazy on me. But also, who is she really? Why didn't seem scared or really shocked by the idea of walking among supernatural creatures/

I need to talk to her.

I got off my bike as my thoughts are interrupted when I catch Ethan and Aiden. The identical werewolf twins who have tried to kill me on multiple occasions. Literally. They walked up to me in a way that made me wonder if they have been waiting for me or are back in school.

"You guys are back at school?" I say, not overly enthusisatc by the idea. "No, just to talk."

Stiles then walks up from behind me inturppting anything they had to say with Issac coming in from beside him. "That's such a change of pace for you guys," he says. "Usually, you're just hurting, maiming, and killing." The guys ignore Stiles' snarky comments and continue to talk.

"You need a pack. We need an Alpha." One of the boys says. The audacity for them to ask that of me is insane.

"Yeah. Absolutely not," Stiles answers clearly showing he didn't want anything to do with them. "That's hilarious though."

"You came to us for help. We helped," Ethan says as the memory of them beating me up as a way to teach me how to roar like an Alpha.

"You beat his face into a bloody pulp. That's not helping." Stiles says. "Actually that's counter-productive."

"Why would I say yes to you guys?" I asked them

"We can add strength. We'd make you more powerful."

Stiles rolls his eyes.

"There's no reason to say no."

No reason? No reason? Seriously, that's their argument after what they've done to any of us.

"I can think of one," Issac remarked. "The two of you dicks holding Derek's claws while Kali impaled Boyd in front of him."

Stiles glanced at him agreeing. "In fact, we should be impaling you guys right now," He continues.

His comment clearly pissed Aiden off royally as his eyes began to glow blue and his fangs formed into his teeth. "You want to try?" He threatens.

Issac looked really humored and looked like he was up to the challenge as he steps forward with a smirk but there's no need for that. I stared Issac down as he glanced at me and understood as he stood down and he stepped back a little.

"I'm sorry, but they don't trust you. And neither do I," was my final answer and we walked past them.

As Issac goes his own way to the campus of the school, Stiles and I enter the front of the building and instantly met with chaos. Students fooling around and running down the halls. Everyone pulled small pranks on each other on each corner of the hallway. I literally watched a kid throw a roll of paper straight towards Stiles and the poor guy fails to dodge it.

"Hey, that's my face!" Stiles exclaims. But continues on as if it didn't even happen as I chuckle a little.

"Dude! Good decision, buddy!" Stiles pats my back as we walk towards his locker. "Yeah, I hope so," I say "You know so," Stiles respons as he opens up his locker. I started to lean on the locker beside him and spot Hope in my view.

She was next to that other new girl, Kira as Kira pushed textbooks into her locker. I pulled my bottom lip into my mouth as I gazed at her pushing her hair out of her face. She chuckles at whatever Kira had said and that bright cheeky smile that breaks out has tugged at my heart. She's so pretty. Beautiful actually.

And it feels even better that she's not afraid of me at all. It didn't seem that way when I admitted that I'm a werewolf. Which also makes me realize I hadn't told Stiles about it yet.

"What are you looking at?" He says suddenly and follows my eyes as he looks back at Hope as well.

"Me?"

"Yeah, you. Which one are you looking at? Is it Hope?" He asked as he pushed an egg compartment into his locker. Why in the hell does he have that? Whatever I'm not asking him.

"Hope?"

"Yes, her. Hope." he says. "You like her?"

"Uh, y-yeah. She's new. Uh, also I have to tell you something about her."

"What?"

"She saw me. When we went to save Malia. She saw me transform."

Stiles collectively stopped what he was doing and froze. "Are you being serious right now?" and I nodded.

"How'd she react?"

"She's surprisingly normal abou it. Like it's barely fazing her at all. And we're cool so."

"I hope so. Last thing we need is someone going to the cops that she saw a strange man with glowing eyes and hair growing on his face with pointy ears." he says.

"Does she know you're an Alpha?"

I gave him an incredulous look. "Why does that matter?" I ask him. "Because you like her. So ask her out," Stiles answers, closing his locker and shutting it close by a fist bump to the surface.

"Now?" I questioned.

"Yes, now!" Stiles says. "Scott, you don't get it, do you?" He says as we start to walk down the hall a little. "You're an Alpha. You're the apex predator now," he continues wrapping his arm over my shoulder with a smile. "Everyone wants you. You're like the hot girl that every guy wants."

"The hot girl?" I raise my brows as Issac comes into view and Stiles stops in front of me.

"You are the hottest girl." Stiles praises and silently greets Issac and walks down the hall as Issac glances at me confused but I couldn't stop thinking about what he was saying. Was I that important now?

"I'm the hot girl," I state. And Issac gives me a grin agreeing wholeheartedly. "Yes, you are."

I felt a rush of ease and warmth in my stomach and couldn't help but smile widely, my dimples probably on full display. I can't believe I'm the hot girl.

PERSPECTIVE SWITCH TO 1ST PERSON: HOPE

As the bell rings for the next class, I entered Economics class which I knew Scott and his best friend would be in. Just recently Kaleb and M.G had transferred to this class due to needing it for the semester as juniors. Much to their dismay of taking the class, Alaric told them to just take it and they stopped complaining after realizing how much fun Coach Finstock's classes are.

The room fills up with other students and I glanced at Scott only to see him already looking but instantly looked away when our eyes made contact.

I could feel the heat rush to my face and I sat down at my desk with Lizzie right next to me and my vampire friends behind us.

As everyone settles in, the coach pushes open the door as if he was going to bust it down clearly irritated by something. And knew of what when I glanced at M.G and Kaleb as they tried to keep their laughs in.

A prank.

"Mischief Night! Devil's Night!" He exclaims at us. "I don't care what you call it. You little punks are evil!" He tells everyone as laughing around the room ensues. Poor guy. But it's a little funny.

I could hear M.G and Kaleb laughing behind me as Lizzie glanced at them shaking her head as they dabbed each other up. Of course they were involved in it.

Coach Finstock continues to hilariously complain about how evil we were for all teh elaborate pranks that ensued on this day. Especially to him.

He then slams Scott's desk startling him as he chuckles with Stiles right next to him silently cheering on with a bright grin on his face.

The coach then looks at his desk and sees a small box wrapped in decorative paper. He grabs it completely unimpressed. "Oh, this? We're gonna do this again?"

I rolled my eyes, not understanding the point of this whole thing anymore. Lydia was sitting beside Lizzie and I glanced at us and the three of us shrugged and rolled our eyes feeling the same vibe.

Coach drops it to the floor and slams his foot against the box and something inside sounds like it shattered.

This gift wasn't a prank which is kind of depressing for the person who gave him it.

He was clearly shocked as he crouched down and opened it up and saw a mug with his face on it that was labeled "number one Coach."

It came with a card and he reads it out loud. "Happy Birthday. Love, Greenburg" He sighed heavily.

As class finally started, I could see Lydia in the corner of my eye while on her phone, waving her hand around as if something was buzzing around her.

She makes eye contact with my confused look.

"What are you doing?" I ask her. "There's a fly." She explained. But I didn't understand what she was talking about because there was nothing there. She soon starts to look around in a daze and slowly looks up.

What in the world? Is Lydia also supernatural or something? Must be a psychic witch or something. But I also have no idea if witches even exist in this universe so it's just speculation at this point.

"Lydia?" I whispered to her and she brought her gaze down to me almost robotically. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," she replies, completely out of focus and no longer looking at me. Finally class wrapped up and the entire day went by slowly until I exited my next class and the halls were suddenly more hectic than usual. I spot the boys and Josie down the hall and they walk closer to Lizzie and I. There were men and women in police uniform and some people in black and white suits and ties.

"What the hell is going on?" Landon questions. I glanced beside me and saw Stiles with what I believed to be the Sheriff.

"The Shrapnel Bomber? Spotted nearby?" is all he says. "Did he just say bomber?" Josie declares only loud enough so we could hear. "What in the hell man? We just got here," Kaleb exasperates and rightfully so.

"How do we get down to the basement? I need to know where every entrance is." A tall man had said who had an FBI bage wrapped around his neck. The name on it said McCall.

McCall?

Isn't that Scott's last name?

Then M.G interrupts my thoughts with questions of his own. "Did that say FBI? Why would the FBI be here?" and the rest of the group shrugs. But I just wanted to talk to Scott and Stiles right now.

Something's not right and it's starting to not only freak me out but makes me believe that they know something.

It seems like they always know something. And I don't know if that's dangerous or not. I'm not going to wait around for answers I may or may not get. The only thing I can do is step up and get them to answer. Well, without a tactic that seems hurtful or violent obviously.

So I get to Stiles and grab his arm as the Sheriff walks away. "Stiles." I say looking up at him. I watched as he narrowed his eyes and then brought his focus to my friends who were standing behind me. Strangely the boys looked like they were going to pounce on him.

"Can I trust them?" he says, "can I trust you?" He finishes looking down at me as I drop my hand from his arm. "I could ask you the same question," I state.

"That's fair." he replies.

"I promise. We know a lot about the supernatural. You'd be surprised, just like I told you in the car.

"Besides, we can help." Josie steps up. He sighs and finally nods. "Okay. We got to find the others first." Stiles admits.

***

The Saltzman twins, Landon and I follow Stiles as he goes to look for Issac, Lydia and Allison. When we finally catch up with them, Stiles tells us about William Barrow.

"Barrow went after kids who had glowing eyes?" I quiered as we all walked down the vacant halls on the other side of the school. "He said those exact words?" Issac followed up and Stiles nodded.

"You've gotta be kidding me," I muttered. "Yep. And no one knows how he woke up from anesthesia when he went into surgery." Stiles says. "When they opened him up, they found a tumor full of live flies."

"That's really fucking disgusting," Lizzie comments scrunching her face up.

"Honestly, in any other circumstance that would actually be all kinds of awesome." Stiles retorts. Is he being for real?

"That's gross, Stiles." Josie states as he shrugs with a smile. Lydia suddenly stops walking alongside us. "Did you say flies?" she asked.

Allison stops as well and stares at Lydia concerned. "Lydia, what?"

"All fucking day I have been hearing this sound. I-It's like buzzing."

"What? Why?" Landon questions. "She's a Banshee. They have all kinds of psychic abilities." Issac explains.

"I'm not psychic," Lydia rolls her eyes. "Uh, o-okay. Cool," Landon stutters. "But when you say buzzing—like the sound of flies?" Landon continues.

"Exactly like it."

"We have to tell Scott." Issac states and I couldn't agree more.

***

Stiles, Lydia, Landon and I start to search for Scott as the others head out to find the others. When we finally found him, there was a huge problem.

"The police are leaving. Why are they leaving?" I ask around them.

Scott glances down at me with his brows furrowed. "The police?"

"Shit, they must've cleared the building and grounds which means he's not here." Stiles says. But it seemed that Lydia didn't believe it. Like she didn't want to. She seems so sure.

"Who are you guys talking about?" Scott asked, completely aloof from everything that has been going on. Did no one tell him?

Before I could answer him, Lydia stopped me with a booming voice.

"He has to be here!" Lydia ruled "The sound...the buzzing I've been hearing—it's getting louder."

"How loud?" Landon asks. "I almost can't hear myself." Lydia answers. "I'm going to get my dad." Stiles declares and immediately scrambles. "His dad?" Landon queries.

"Sheriff Stilinski." Scott says.

I finally inform Scott about everything that happened with William Barrow being taken into the hospital, the surgery going awry and how he escaped and was spotted near the school. Scott pulls out his phone as it seems he thought of something.

"What?" I said to him, "I'm gonna call my mom. She could probably get ahold of his things for me," he explains. "So you can track him by scent. Smart," I concluded with a smirk and he glanced down at me with a cheeky dimpled smile—my heart not only skipped but warmed my entire body. The last time I felt like that with someone was—Landon.

I knew he was staring at me. I could feel his gaze on me and I suddenly felt just a little irritated which is completely irrational of me.

Sooner rather than later, we meet Scott's mom and she manages to give us a shirt of his. She leaves as soon as she can for Scott's comfort.

Landon and Stiles head back to the front of the school as I texted Rafael to meet Scott and I.

Just as he walks up to us, two identical boys with fantastic bone structure, honestly, come up from beside him. Along with a very annoyed looking Issac. Why he's annoyed I have no idea.

"This is Rafael. He's a werewolf." I stated which causes Scott's eyes to almost bulge out of his socket. "I knew there was something strange about your scent," he says. "My scent?" Rafael knits his brows. "Yeah, I can tell when someone's a werewolf. It's a very specific scent. I don't really know how to explain it. Yours is almost like a werewolf's but not quite." He explains. Rafael and I glanced towards each other.

"Well, jeez. What else can you do?" I ask him and he looks at me. "Well, he's a true Alpha. So, who really knows." Issac smirks.

A what?

"True Alpha?" I quiered.

"I guess you don't know everything," Issac retorts. I wanted to snap at him but he was also right. That would be irrational so I just settle with a dramatic eye roll. Being in this universe everything is different. Banshees and now a True Alpha werewolf. What does that even mean?

"Let's just focus on the task in hand. Who even are you?" one of the twins had said.

"Hope. Just a neighborhood friend who knows a bit about supernatural situations." I say.

"Ethan," He gives me a heartfelt smile while his brother narrows his eyes at me. Seemingly suspiosious. I don't know what I did for him to give me a look like that but whatever.

"This is Aiden." He states. "So you're like Deaton." Aiden continues as he crosses his arms over his chest. Somehow trying to appear bigger. Please, if I wanted to, I'd drop him easily with a simple word.

"Who's Deaton?" I quirked a brow. "Guys, can we focus, please?" Scott declares as I can hear the exasperation from him.

"Lydia thinks that Barrow is still here even though the cops searched the whole school."

"But there's something they don't have—" Scott pulls out Barrow's shirt. "Our sense of smell."

***

PERSPECTIVE SWITCH TO 3RD PERSON

The others help Lydia and Allison with trying to figure out exactly how and why Barrow would even go to the school looking for kids with glowing eyes. And also how it was possible for live flies to be inside his stomach. Therefore, Stiles, Lydia and the Saltzman twins leave with them to help while Josie tells M.G. and Kaleb to head back home and feed. It was too dangerous and they hadn't fed yet. Plus Alaric would wonder where they were anyway.

While Ethan and Aiden separate from Rafael, Hope, Issac and Scott, the four of them continue to try and follow the scent.

"So, this is how it's going to be now?" Issac says all of a sudden which confuses Hope. But Scott knew what he was talking about.

"We trust them?"

"Just because I'm letting them help doesn't mean I trust them," Scott says. Hope couldn't help but feel her stomach drop when she heard Scott's words. "You know we're right here, right?" she says. "Not you. I'm talking about Ethan and Aiden." Issac says.

"What's your problem with them?" Rafael quieres. The two boys glanced at each other, almost not wanting to really answer because it's kind of dark that they're still even conversing with the twins at all.

"They've tried to kill us on mulitple occassions," Scott says. "And helped with the death of a friend," Issac finishes.

Hope stopped all counts and looked at them both. They were intensely serious. "I'm so sorry."

"In that case, we should't be letting them help at all. I'm surprised you guys haven't tried killing them yourselves." she states.

"I officially like you now. Scott, let's keep her." Issac points with a smirk and Hope hides her smile.

"It's a good thing you don't trust them," Rafael says.

"Yeah, I really don't. Or like them. In fact, I hate them and just want them to die."

"That's one hell of an opinion Issac." Rafael retorts, "Not an opinion. Just a fact." He simply shrugs.

"If Barrow's actually here with a plan, you might get what you want." Scott states as Issac's smile creeps onto his face slowly. Suddenly a blaring alarm resonates within the entire building.

"What the hell?" Hope mutters and the three make their way outside the building along with the entire student body.

The pack and the squad meet up as the bell rings.

"We didn't find anything," Rafael says. "Not even a scent," Scott says after.

"Well, it's 3:00. So school's over," Josie says. "If there was even a bomb in the first place, wouldn't he have set it off by now?" Lizzie quieres.

"Does that mean everybody is safe?" Ethan asked while everyone glanced towards Lydia.

But clearly, Lydia was no longer sure.
