🎀Christmas Special! ᯓ★
(because it was Christmas & New Year's aka Karma and Sawako's birthdays)
The city of Tokyo looked like a snow globe. Like a fairytale, the streets were filled with snow. Small snowmen were seen now and then, while footprints littered the ground.
(name)’s house is always warm and bubbly during the Christmas season. But, Christmas is long gone as today is New Year's Eve. Also the day of (name)’s birthday.
Korosensei mentioned something about a class party and a festival. Every year, (name) celebrated with her family. This year, she wasn't so sure if they would let her celebrate with friends.
For her parents, she got a pretty piece of jewelry for her mom and a stomach warmer for her dad. She prepared special, unique gifts for her close friends.
A knitted hat for Karma, a book with assassin techniques for Nagisa, a new baseball glove for Sugino, some handmade coasters for Yukiko, snacks for Kayano, and new beakers for Okuda.
She placed the gifts into small boxes, but left out Karma’s hat because it was too big.
She left her room to find a bigger box to use for his present, Unexpectedly, her dad walked by her room, looking for her. “(name)! Have you seen-” He stared at the hat on her drawer. She returned from the basement with a bigger box, but couldn’t seem to find the hat.
She shrugged it off and put on her apron. “That looks so cute on you!” Her mother exclaimed.
(name) peered her head inside of the room. “Sure does! It’s a perfect fit!” Her father pulled it onto his head, turning around to look at (name). “(name), thank you for the Christmas present!”
He wore a bright smile as the hat fit on his head perfectly.
(name) froze, turning awfully pale. She backed away in shock, regretting leaving the hat on her desk. “You remembered that I mentioned my head was getting cold…” He teared up in joy. “You do have a pretty high hairline, honey!” Her mother added.
“Yeah! This is so warm. I really wanted something like this. Thank you, (name)!” Tears streamed down her father’s cheeks in delight.
(name)’s eyes slightly seemed to darken. She forced a smile for her father. “I’m glad that…you like it so much.”
She gave her mother her exchange present, watching her enjoy it. ‘I couldn’t have given it to him, anyway.’
She spent the rest of her day with her parents. Icing the cake, baking sweet treats, and cooking with her mother. ‘Of course, it’s better that someone else can use it.’
She glanced at her father during dinner. ‘And he looks so happy.’ While eating and talking with her parents, she found herself constantly glancing at the clock. ‘Is everyone out having fun yet?’
“What’s wrong?” Her father asked, “Having fun?” She smiled and nodded, looking down. “Yes.”
Suddenly, the landline rang. “The phone?” “I’ll get it!” (name) volunteered, quickly getting out of her seat.
She picked up the phone and held it to her ear. “Hello! Hey, I can’t hear her. Hello?” “Kayano?” “(name)! We were wondering how you were doing. It’s not as much fun without you!” (name) was touched by Kayano’s words and tried to keep herself from crying.
“I’m passing the phone to Yukiko. Here.” There was some shuffling on the other side before Yukiko’s voice called to (name). “Hello, (name)!”
“Yukiko?” “Don’t you miss us? We thought we’d make sure you’re okay. I wish you could swing by, even for a little bit. I guess I’ll give you a Christmas gift, instead.” (name) waited for a few seconds, shuffling awkwardly.
“Hello? (name)? Is this (lastname)? (lastname), right?” (name) froze. It’s Karma. A tear dropped onto the device. One after another, (name) slowly began to cry. ‘I want to go! I want to be with them! I can’t even speak.’
Karma held the phone as he listened to her muffled cries. He wasn’t sure what to do but to stay on the line. (name)’s parents noticed her sudden silence and her sniffles. Her mom pushed her out of the way and began to talk to Karma for her.
“Hello. This is (name)’s mom. Thank you for taking care of my daughter.” “G-Good evening!” Karma answered respectfully, not expecting to hear (name)’s mom. “It sounds like you’re having a lot of fun!”
“M-M-Mom…” (name) tugged her mother’s sweater, quietly asking for the phone back.
“We’re having fun, yes…”
“(name), come over here.” (name) sat with her father, building up the courage to ask him to go.
“But…If (lastname) joined us, it would be even more fun.”
“Dad…” Small tears gathered at the corners of her eyes. “Can I…visit them to say hello? Just for a little while?”
“If (lastname) joins us, it’ll be a lot more fun!”
(name)’s dad presented a blue box in front of her. “Open this.” He pointed at it. “It’s from Santa…I mean, from Dad.” He smiled, “Go on.” A light pink coloured flip phone.
“From now on, tell us such important things earlier!” “Take this, since we might call you if you’re out late! I’ve charged it!” He fumbled with his words, watching as his daughter stood up quickly. “Thank you, Dad!”
(name)’s mother put down the phone, looking towards her husband. “Oh, my. Did (name) leave?” She teasingly asked. “Yes…The day has finally come!” He rejoiced. “This is merely the first jab in round one, dear.” Her mother reminded him.
🎀
(name) ran faster than she ever has before. The excitement of seeing her friends powered her speed. She clutched her pink tote bag, careful not to slip in the snow. ‘Will I make it?’ After a long while of running and making it to the destination, (name) took a break and slowed down, breathing heavily.
She noticed a familiar head of red hair standing behind a pole. “I thought “Maybe she might…” And you came!” Karma smiled, proud of his correct prediction. ‘I’ve never seen him smile that brightly before.’
(name) began to cry again, wiping her face with her hand. Karma reached a hand into his pocket. “Even though the Christmas party and exchange are both over…This one’s yours.” She took the present with both hands and examined the pink bag.
(she likes pink okay 🙄🌸🎀💕💞💝💘💗🌷💓)
“Although you might find use for it…” She took the item out of the bag.
A four leaf clover phone charm. She stared at it in awe, trying not to cry for the third time today.
“Well,” She reached into her tote bag and pulled out her new phone. “I haven't learned how to use it yet, but…” She showed off her phone to Karma, who wordlessly admired it.
He smiled, proud of her. “Let me see.” He fiddled around with her phone for a bit, attaching the charm and entering his number.
“And..sent!” He exclaimed. ‘In my first cell phone…Karma's name became my first entry. The loneliness I felt…and the fact I couldn't make it to the party…’
She dug through her bag again, looking for his present. “Yeah, I have a gift for you too…Somewhere.” Karma looked surprised. “No way, are you serious?”
She froze, remembering what happened this morning. Without realizing, she pulled out the stomach warmer for her father instead. Karma saw it and took it, admiring it.
“A neck warmer…? Cool!” She froze again trying to explain the whole situation. ‘The tiny miracle and little mistake…To all of those things!’
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
(ignore how this is 30 days late 🤭🥰)
