You bit your lip as you keep the giggle from leaving your mouth as you practically hurry to try to find where Loki went next. You have been practically following him all day, carrying out the dare.. prank.. bet situation Natasha put you up too? You really had no idea how you got yourself into this mess but honestly, you were slowly, slowly starting to regret it less.
You suppose it started where the chicks in the tower were sharing a drink together and chatting.. venting.. the whole girl talk that ran through all the emotional and conversational hoops. Wanda started it first where the conversation led to the men you all worked with, Natasha slowly moved it to where crushes were confessed and then Loki came up.
Having a crush on him, yes- but you quickly steered clear of the truth by saying ".. I don't mind him" with a shrug. That seemed to give Nat the green light by digging deeper and asking if you could tolerate the whole day around him unlike anyone else and you regrettably (at the time) said yes. Well, Wanda had to just "bet".
"I bet you couldn't stand being in the same room as him all day without so much as a complain or a retreat." To be exact was her words and your stubborn ass agreed without thinking.
So you had found him roaming the halls, where you found yourself at a couple steps distance walked behind him. he had merely given you a glance over his shoulder with a raised brow but you merely turned your attention to your phone subtly. Ignoring you, he merely kept moving at a casual pace- though your steps had to do double time compared to his long-legged stride.
You had then proceeded to make yourself a sandwich- although you weren't hungry- where he began cutting up some fruit for himself. He was merely behind you and you found your cheeks reddening as you realized just how close you both were as he worked with his back to you. Right behind you. Moving around the kitchen, you cursed yourself as you realized you needed ingredience that just so happened to be around him- forcing you to have to say mere comments like "excuse me" or "sorry-'' as you accidently bumped into him while you slide behind him to pass.
For as rich as he was, Stark needed himself a bigger kitchen.
The only thing 'heating up' in the kitchen was when you struggled to put the loaf of bread away in the cupboard above you and you almost considered throwing it up until something caught it as you raised it behind your head. Jumping in surprise, you would have dropped it if you hadn't realized he had it in his hold before he stepped closer to you, your back resting at the counter as he looked down his nose at you.
''allow me..'' he said with a gentle voice and reached up so he was looming over you and put the bread away while holding eye contact with you.
Your cheeks reddened and you barely squeaked out a thank you before he gave the smallest of smirks before turning back to what he was doing, leaving you to snap out of it and awkwardly turn back around to continue what you were doing.
Giving you glances as he continued with his work, all you got was either a nod of acknowledgment or a brief hum. Honestly the short attention made your heart sink but you always failed at what to say anyway, not wanting to give him a useless, lifeless conversation of unimportant things. So you both continued in silence, awkward for you but casual so it seemed to him. yet at the same time, you seemed to grow to favor his presence as the day went on.
It was interesting observing him, how he seemed content in his day just being left alone with the Avengers avoiding him. though you supposed that's how introverts worked, but even he got up to leave whenever someone entered the room. Having to follow through with the bet, you got up to leave as well, earning a smirk from Natasha or a giggle from Wanda as you passed them to follow Loki to where he was going.
So now you finally found him, reading on the couch casually with a book raised to his face, a leg crossed and an arm resting at the arm rest. There was no real way of blending in here except grabbing a random book yourself and slowly approaching to sit on the opposite side. He didn't even glance at you as you settled in, opening what you had as you looked over the first page in an attempt to read as well before the snap of his book shut startled you.
''Lae-'' he sighed and you almost felt like you had to stand at attention as you clutched the book in your hands.
''yes?'' you asked a little to quickly as he casually set his book aside and looked at you with an expressionless face.
''why have you been following me all day?''
You almost gasped and waved him off as your eye contact faltered ''I wasn't following- it just so happened that you always seemed to head where I was already-''
''Lae.''
''y-yes?''
He then turned his body a bit more so he was facing you properly, an amused look almost shown on his face as his eyes gave you a once over. ''don't lie to me. You don't read often, it just so happens that you chose now to start while I'm here at the exact same time?''
''your almost always here..'' you pointed out but silenced with his narrowed eyes.
''you go through the trouble of making food for yourself just to disregard it after a couple bites as soon as I'm finished with mine. I enter an area and you seem to look around for something to do with no real purpose or intent on going in the first place and your subtle reactions give you away as if you indeed just wish to be in my presence'' the last part made him smirk, a small tease but the truth at that as you felt your cheeks begin to redden but you merely shook your head.
''what reactions? -''
He then pushed himself a bit off the couch to slide himself all the way to your end, being so close our thigh was almost pressed against yours. The action had your cheeks red, eye contact lost and lightly leaning away in a shy demeanor.
''those reactions.''
As stubborn as you were, shyness seemed to creep on you first most of the time so you struggled to hold his eye contact as you bit your lip. ''okay.. Nat and Wanda dared me of some sorts to stay in the same rooms as you were all day.. they think I cant tolerate you..''
His eyes analyzed you as you spoke and earned a small nod as he sighed. ''ah, I see.. but it seems you can tolerate me.'' He lightly teased.
''I've always been able to tolerate you-'' you spoke almost to quickly and looked down as he raised a brow. ''your not a nuisance as they make you out to be..''
You felt a finger rest below your chin and bring your face up to look up at him, your blush returning as he forced you to look at him. ''and why is that exactly?''
His voice was gentle, almost a whisper but didn't demand. Yet you knew he wanted specifics and to be honest, it was a bit difficult to start answering questions when you felt a hand ghost your thigh as it slowly began resting against it, waiting for a negative response but you didn't dare give him one. You didn't want too.
''because.. I like you.. and everyone deserves company..'' your voice said quietly, almost feeling yourself shaking at his close proximity but it wasn't out of fear, it was the touch you've always wanted but never dreamed at getting.. until now.
Loki didn't look surprised, mainly because your reactions around him pretty much made it clear anyway but his expression was steady, gentle, searching your face as if he didn't know what to do in that moment either until he leaned forward.
Before you knew what was happening, you felt his lips gently brush against yours, testing the waters to see if you would pull away but you didn't, you merely closed your eyes slowly as your whole body relaxed and leaned forward as well. You could have sworn you heard him chuckle as how your body responded, seeming that it was now his favorite thing to watch but before you could even think about shying away again, he pressed his lips firmly against yours.
Your whole body tingled, cheeks warm and heart pounding. Hesitation wasn't an option as you leaned in more to deepen the kiss, earning a small hum from him against your lips as his hand came to rest against your cheek while the other gripped your thigh. Your own hands rest against his shoulders and felt his tongue run across your bottom lip and you were more than happy to let him in as his tongue caressed yours.
If you would have known this damn bet would have gotten you here then you would have followed him a lot sooner. The way his hair felt tangled in your fingers made him turn his head to lean more into your touch. The way his hand curved from your cheek to under your chin gave a small promise he would grip your neck but you knew he was being careful so he would keep things slow for you if need be.
You wanted it all.
Before you could even make the first move to insinuate, he pulled back first and pressed his forehead to yours where you looked into his eyes with curiosity while his was full of mischief. ''are you still technically obligated to this bet of yours?'' he asked, his fingers curling every now and again against your thigh so his nails teased you lightly while his other hand now gripped your jaw.
''yes..'' you make out, unable to nod with his mild hold on you as he smirked and leaned back a bit.
''mm good girl'' he praised and got up, walking away, making a small panic feeling rise in your chest and stomach as you stared at him.
''wha- where are you going?'' you asked, sounding a little to desperate as he smirked and looked back over his shoulder at you as he walked.
''I suddenly feel the need to head to my room.''
With widened eyes and a knowing feeling between your legs, your fingers gripped the cushions of the couch in anticipation before you suddenly got up and followed him.
