Sirens rang, red lights flashed, and people scrambled about. An alarm indicating that something was slowly coming sounded. Carl and Whitney, who were still trying to make themselves at home in their office, stood on their feet and exited the room they were brought into.
"What's happening?" Carl asked.
"Godzilla was seen at the beach, and he appears to be coming this way," a female worker answered.
Whitney's eyes widened and she looked at Carl, "Could it be because of..." she couldn't finish her question.
"It has to be," Carl responded. He knew what Whitney was hinting at.
The two Monarch workers left the area to try and get to where the stone creature was being kept at. That creature had to be the reason for Godzilla coming. Either that one or Wolit. Carl felt it had to be the stone creature. Even he felt off with simply looking at it. Wolit was dangerous yes, but why would a creature be turned to stone if it wasn't even more powerful and dangerous?
Carl and Whitney came back to where both creatures were being kept and saw Gibson and the general looking at some monitors.
"He should be here in the next 30 minutes or less," a male worker said.
"Very good," the general said with a smirk.
"How is this a good thing?" Carl asked.
"Because now we can test Wolit out on him," Gibson answered.
"But Valarie, hasn't she had any rest?" Whitney asked with concern.
"We believe she's ready now. She's made significant progress," the general spoke.
Whitney didn't care for his expression. She sensed something was done to that poor woman to 'enhance' her progress. Carl glared holes in the back of the general's head hearing that.
"Oh, come now you two. We didn't do anything that would cause serious health problems," the general had sensed the glare from the old Monarch worker and seen Whitney's expression of disgust.
"So, you say," Whitney said with some slight venom in her tone.
"Relax sweetheart," Gibson said. "Everything is under control."
"Uh huh," Carl said with a disapproving tone.
Just as the general was going to say something, a loud crash could be heard.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N and Nathan continued staring at the approaching titan. Godzilla was much closer to them now. Each step he took, the ground shook. Y/N couldn't help but be hypnotized in a way while Nathan was wanting to get away fast. However, he didn't want to leave Y/N by herself. Godzilla kept staring at Y/N. Something in him stirred and he had to find out what it was.
His brown, red eyes were locked specifically on her. He had of course noticed the other human, but the girl intrigued him. He could see the fear in the boy's eyes and fascination in the girl's eyes. When he was close enough to them, he stopped walking and knelt, bending his head toward the two.
Nathan, with shock and terror, yelped. Y/N was startled but didn't move her eyes from the titan. Godzilla peered into Y/N's (eye color) eyes. It was as if he were trying to read her soul. Y/N stared up into the blazing eyes of the titan. She felt she was under through examination with how intense the practical staring contest became. Her eyes were unblinking as were his. She was tempted to reach up to touch him, but would that be such a good idea? Probably not.
She felt urgency and curiosity from the titan. Also intrigue and...familiarity. Aside from having seen through his eyes, what was this familiarity? It felt as if she were seeing a friend from a long time ago. Is it possible that in a past life she knew him? Was this a sort of reincarnation? Godzilla took in her facial features. Bone structure was like her's. The very presence of this human resembled her and yet, a little different too. Love of the ocean was evident in this one just like her. Was this human a possible ancestor of his past companion?
Nathan was stunned watching the silent exchange between titan and human. He was thankful that no harm happened to Y/N, but was with the long staring contest? It was as if the two knew each other from way back when and they were slowly being reacquainted. He could tell and knew Y/N was slowly becoming fascinated with Godzilla and the infamous titan in turn seemed to grow an interest in her.
"Godzilla," Y/N tried to speak telepathically to him. It took some concentration, but she managed to speak to him.
Godzilla, stunned at hearing this voice, responded with a small nod. He knew it. He knew she was the one whose point of view he was seeing out of. She was just like her with this special ability. Never again did he think that he would hear a human voice in such a mental state. She had to be her ancestor.
"Can you tell me what is happening exactly?" Y/N asked.
When hearing Y/N ask that, he knew he needed to get back on track with going toward where Hadeon was being held. He couldn't let that vile titan be released into the world. Too many bad memories of before flooded his mind again. He glared at the girl, almost as if telling her to stay away from him. He didn't want this girl that reminded him of her to be hurt. He immediately stood to his feet and began stomping away.
Y/N stood there a bit hurt from the look he gave her. She knew he was meaning for her not to follow him, but how could she not? What if she could help him? She sensed there was something big going on and she wanted in on it.
Nathan looked to Y/N with concern, "You alright?"
She turned to her friend who had been quiet for a good while and gave a small smile and nod.
"I'm guessing you want to follow him?" He could tell by the look in her eyes that she wanted to go after him.
"I...I want to but...what about your project? Maybe...maybe we should get back to that." As much as she wanted to go after Godzilla, she also didn't want to let her friend down either. She wanted to keep her word and help him.
"I..." Nathan sighed. School, this project especially, was important to him. He wanted to help his friend though. There was still time to do the project. It's not like it was due the next day.
Y/N looked at him with worry.
"It's okay. We can work on the project later. Let's follow Godzilla." He showed her a confident smile.
She smiled brightly back. Nathan really was a wonderful friend to have, "Thank you."
The two walked away from the beach and got into Y/N's car. Y/N drove at a fast speed, but this time under control, much to Nathan's relief.
"Godzilla isn't heading toward Monarch. He must be going to...no. Could he be going that way?" Y/N pondered.
"To the military base?" Nathan questioned.
"He must be. I can't think of where else he would really want to go to."
"To the base it is then."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"He's here!" A panicked male worker shouted.
Carl and Whitney watched the monitors with wide eyes as they could see Godzilla stomping on some of the base as he entered the area. He crushed some of the tanks and other military vehicles that had been parked outside of the building.
The roar of Godzilla could be heard and in the chaos that took over the military base, Wolit was released, and Valarie was already hooked up to the monitors and machines from before. Godzilla had stepped into the area that was the training space for the titans. He saw Wolit and glared at the creature. Wolit let out a cry and ran toward the infamous titan. Godzilla put his arms out as Wolit jumped onto his back legs to try and claw at the taller titan.
Godzilla roared and his dorsal plates began to light up blue. Wolit, trying to get in a sneak attack, tried to stab Godzilla with his spiked tail. Godzilla had let go of Wolit and dodged the tail in the nick of time. He fired his atomic breath at Wolit who cried out from being burned. Wolit growled and was getting ready to unleash his own fire attack. Godzilla clawed at the creature, keeping a constant watch on the tail. He knew the creature was poisonous having once fought it before.
Wolit cried out from being clawed at and unleashed his fire at Godzilla. The lizard titan stepped back and cried out from the burn marks. Godzilla wasn't going to give up this fight. Not by a long shot. Wolit took advantage of the distance and spewed out more fire. Godzilla, once again, got burned and he glared at Wolit with fury. Once more, the dorsal plates began lighting up blue along with his eyes. Godzilla unleashed his atomic breath onto Wolit.
Wolit couldn't get up from the burns he received. He growled at Godzilla and eventually passed out. Godzilla moved past Wolit and began to tear the structure of the base apart. He had to find Hadeon fast.
The people inside scrambled to get away from falling debris. A piece of the roof was falling and almost hit Whitney. Carl acted fast and grabbed Whitney, wrapping his arms around her waist, and pulling her aside. Whitney panicked, clung onto Carl, and was breathing rapidly. Carl removed his arms from around Whitney and grabbed her hand, beginning to run to another part of the building. Whitney followed his movements and ran with him.
Gibson and the general had barely managed to escape some falling debris. Some of the workers weren't so lucky. Only a small number of workers remained. They all had gone in a different direction from Carl and Whitney.
Valarie, still attached to the electronics, had tears streaming down her face. She was so tired. Tired of trying to communicate with a creature that didn't want her help. She was able to talk to Wolit at the beginning of the fight, but then Wolit decided he would do his own thing and she was pushed out. Why go through all this effort with Wolit? It wasn't worth it. She loathed this ability. It brought her nothing but trouble.
Godzilla continued to tear the base apart. Hadeon was close by. He could sense it. He clawed away more of the structure until, finally, coming across the familiar stone creature. However, upon closer inspection, he could see that some of the stone had been chipped away. Not a significant amount, but still. He glared and grabbed the stone creature. Suddenly, more of the stone began to fall off from Hadeon. This wasn't good.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Oh man!" Nathan panicked.
Y/N's eyes widened at the sight before them. The military base was a crumbled mess. Barely anything remained intact. A lot of the structure was just now a giant pile of rubble and debris. She stopped the car a short distance away and got out, Nathan following suit.
The two friends stood in shock and then their attention was brought to the infamous titan holding something in his clawed hands. The stone creature. The creature was just about as large as Godzilla and the stone was chipping off fast. Why though? All the stones had hit the ground below and a bright light glowed around the creature. Godzilla had let go of the creature because of the blinding light and his eyes widened. The creature once covered in stone was free and hovering in the air. The giant feather like wings moved in an almost elegant way. The dragon-bird-like creature sent daggers at Godzilla with its piercing red, blue eyes. The creature, who was a female, didn't care for the way the King of the Monsters glared at her.
This is what Godzilla didn't want to have happen. The humans had to slowly chip away at the stone and now all of it was destroyed. Now, the creature that brought so much hurt and pain before was free. He roared at the creature and got ready to fire his atomic breath at her. The titan began to glow a bright orange color and reared her head back. She shot out an orange and blue light. It was like fire and ice being shot out at the same time.
The colliding colors struck Godzilla with such force that it caused him to fall. With his fall, the ground shook making anyone close by him stumble on their own feet. Y/N grabbed a hold of Nathan who in turn grabbed her, both trying to steady each other. Y/N couldn't believe this creature she was seeing. It was massive and it seemed to be very powerful. It's no wonder Godzilla didn't want this creature to be awakened.
Nathan looked on with terror. Titans were fascinating to him but also could give him nightmares. Learning about Y/N's abilities of seeing through Godzilla's perspective was neat, but seeing such creatures of epic proportions duke it out was something he almost couldn't fathom. So much destruction and Earth-shattering powers that one could witness from these creatures that had been around for thousands of years.
Godzilla roared in anger from the attack Hadeon gave him. He got back up to his feet only to be knocked down. Hadeon had plunged her claws into his rough skin, standing on top of him as if she had already won the battle. Y/N and Nathan had let go of each other and Y/N decided to try and talk to Godzilla again. Maybe she could help him in this battle. She wanted to try at least.
Y/N closed her eyes, taking some deep breaths. She focused her mind on reaching out to Godzilla's and spoke telepathically to him, "Godzilla. You can do this. Try to claw at the creature."
Godzilla, stunned to be hearing the voice of the girl from the beach, widened his eyes. He glared at the creature and clawed at it. He was a bit weak, but the claws seemed to do the trick. Hadeon screeched from the sharp claws and flew up, giving Godzilla the chance to get back to his feet. He did so, staggering a bit, and focused on making his dorsal plates light up. Hadeon swooped down and clawed at him.
"Try using your tail to hit it before it swoops down again," Y/N spoke once more to him.
Hadeon indeed was planning to go in again for another attack from the air. Godzilla listened to Y/N and used his tail to hit her and then used his atomic breath on her. The creature screeched out from the double onslaught. Godzilla roared and hit her again with his tail and clawed at her, deciding to try and bite her in the neck in the process. Before he could try to get at her with the attack on her neck, she flew away in a rage. Seeing the creature take off in the air and fly to who knows where put Godzilla in a foul mood fast. He roared in frustration at Hadeon getting away from him.
Y/N's telepathic connection was about severed as she began to grow weary. It had been some time since she last used her power on anyone in the real world. It was one thing to see through someone else's eyes in her dreams, but in the real world, she hadn't talked to or tried seeing through someone else's perspective in quite some time. She was just about to collapse to the ground until Nathan caught her.
Y/N looked at Nathan with a small smile, "Thanks."
He nodded and helped her back to her feet.
Godzilla turned in the direction that he sensed the girl was at and looked at her. Y/N returned his gaze with concern. It was troubling to see him so frustrated. She could feel his anger. Telepathic ability sometimes allows the person with the power to feel emotions heavily. She felt the anger almost making her body want to fall again, it was so overwhelming. Nathan still held onto her, feeling that she was about to collapse again.
Godzilla looked at her, letting his eyes tell her to be careful and that he would take care of everything. He doesn't want to see her hurt. She reminds him of someone very important who is no longer among the living. He turned around then and began walking away.
"Wait please!" Y/N pleaded telepathically. She physically reached her hand out as if she could easily grab hold of him. She tried to stop him telepathically, "Please. I want to help you. Please don't go."
Godzilla had severed the psychic connection and no longer heard her voice as he continued in the direction Hadeon had gone.
Y/N shut her eyes and a few tears slipped out. Who was it that Godzilla was reminded of when seeing her? She understood he didn't want her hurt, but it seemed like this creature was a lot of trouble even for the King of the Monsters to handle on his own.
Nathan looked at her sadly, "Maybe we can follow him later. We should see if anyone in the base needs some medical attention. I'll call 911."
Y/N wiped her eyes and nodded at Nathan. He started walking to the base and just as she was going to start following him, she fell. Having heard his friend fall, he turned around and immediately helped her to feet.
"Maybe you should hang onto me for now," he said as he wrapped an arm around her waist.
"I think so," she replied a little weakly. She strung her arm around his shoulders, and he grabbed her wrist.
"I'll call 911 when we're closer."
The two began making their way to the destroyed base.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The general, Gibson, and a few of the workers who had managed to escape most of the fallen debris were intrigued by what they had witnessed. Watching Godzilla fight such a large and dangerous being was quite a spectacle. However, even more interesting was that Godzilla seemed to be listening to the girl who had come to the base for unknown reasons. When thinking more about it, it seemed the reason had to do with Godzilla. All of them could see that there was some sort of connection between the girl and the titan. Similar to what Valarie had with Wolit. This could do nicely for them. Gibson and the general smirked at each other; both clearly having had the same thoughts.
On another side of the base, Carl and Whitney were able to witness the battle that took place moments ago. When seeing the connection between the girl and Godzilla, Carl couldn't help having a few flashbacks come to mind. This was just like what he had seen with Valarie and a few other people from years ago. Now that he could see the girl and her friend approaching, there was something vaguely familiar about the girl. The (hair color) hair of the girl reminding him of another woman he had been with in Monarch years back. Could it be...
Whitney had been awestruck. Terrified, but awestruck. That winged creature was indeed extremely dangerous. She could see now why Godzilla was anxious to stop this creature. It is unfortunate that it got away. She hoped Godzilla would be able to catch it and stop it. She had a horrible feeling that something worse may happen later down the line. She hoped to be wrong, but a lot of things seemed to happen no matter how much she wished nothing bad would happen. It seemed like it was inevitable for something disastrous to come about.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nathan and Y/N were closer to the base now. Nathan had gently set Y/N down on the ground to hopefully recover from the major events. He took his phone out and dialed 911. An operator picked up and he gave the details of what happened, expect the part about the titans. He figured it would be best to leave that part out for now. The operator understood and said the ambulance and firefighters would be sent out shortly.
Nathan hung up his phone and sighed. He cupped his hands together and shouted, "Hello! Can anyone hear me?"
He began to walk around some of the debris and moved some of the rubble that he was able to, "Hello! Anyone? If you can hear me, please say something!"
There was some movement to his left. Someone was trying to move some rubble off themselves. Nathan ran over to the movement and could just see a hand sticking out, "I'll pull, and you push. Ready. One. Two. Three."
The hand of the person beneath the rubble did their best to move it and Nathan tried with all his might to pull the rubble. With a lot of effort on both parts, the rubble was eventually moved aside. Nathan reached his hand out for the person to take, and he worked on helping them back up to their feet.
"Thank you," the voice spoke in a shaky manner. It was of a woman who appeared to be in her early forties.
"You're welcome. You can sit with my friend over there. Help should be coming soon."
The woman nodded and saw Y/N. She carefully walked over and sat down beside the younger woman. Y/N, noticing a new face gave a small smile to the older woman.
Nathan continued his efforts, "Hello! Anyone here?"
Soon enough, an older gentleman and another woman came out and approached Nathan. They didn't look too badly injured, but both had a few cuts and scrapes.
"Thank goodness, you two are alright," Nathan said. "You can sit with those two over there." He had pointed to where Y/N and the other woman were at.
"Thank you, but I'll help you out," the older man spoke and then turned to the woman beside him, "Go rest up Whitney."
Whitney didn't argue and went to sit with the other two women. Wait. Was that young man...yes! It was the same one she interviewed from before.
"Name's Carl and yours?" the older man asked Nathan.
"My name is Nathan sir," Nathan replied. What was familiar about that woman with the dark hair?
"Nathan..." Carl fished through his mind. That name was ringing a bell, "Are you, Nathan Thompson?"
Nathan's brown eyes widened, "Yeah...wait, you work for Monarch?"
"Yes, I do," Carl replied, "What exactly are you doing way out here? I thought you and your partner were going to the Monarch facility for a school project today."
Nathan began looking a little uneasy, "Um well...the thing is..." Should he really go into detail?
Carl could tell that there was something about his partner he didn't want to say. He did have a strong hunch on what that could be, but he wanted to see what this young man would do.
"The thing is," Nathan continued. "We uh noticed Godzilla on the beach and followed him here." It wasn't a lie. They had indeed seen him on the beach.
"I see," Carl said. He could tell Nathan was a kind young man who obviously had a lot of care for his partner.
The two men continued talking in some idle chatter while shouting out for others to hear them. They both hoped that not too many people were hurt. After some more chat and shouts, Gibson, the general, and a few military personnel came out from some of the debris.
"Carl, good to see you're alive," the general spoke.
"Likewise," Carl said.
"Who is this young man with you?" Gibson asked.
"This is Nathan," Carl answered introducing everyone.
"Uh, nice to meet you sir," Nathan answered a bit nervously.
"No need to be nervous. Relax," Gibson said.
The general and Gibson shook hands with Nathan. Carl asked some of the military personnel if they were alright. Seeing that they were okay and that Gibson and the general only had minor injuries, they all headed back to where the three women were.
Y/N and now the two women who sat with her, had all been quiet. Everyone seemed exhausted, but especially the one with the brown side braid. All three were beyond tired from the day's events. Y/N couldn't help feeling that there was something about the woman with the side braid. Something that reminded her of herself. What was it? Did she possibly have what she had? It is rare to meet anyone these days with telepathic powers.
Ambulances and fire trucks soon arrived at the scene. The paramedics and fire fighters did another sweep over to be sure that no one else was trapped beneath the debris. Y/N had noticed that the woman with the side braid, whom she learned had the name Valarie, sustained the most injuries out of everyone else. The machines that Valarie was hooked up to didn't help her and everything had crashed down around her, causing the rubble to fall on top of her.
"Whitney," Carl called out to the woman with dark hair.
Whitney looked at Carl who was standing beside the young man from before.
"This is Nathan Thompson," Carl said.
Nathan looked at Whitney with a smile, "Nice to meet you again. Sorry it took me a minute to remember you mam." He was embarrassed about that.
Whitney gave a tired smile, "That's quite alright Nathan. It is good to see you again."
Nathan then walked over to Y/N, letting Carl and Whitney chat with each other, "You doing alright?"
Y/N looked at Nathan, "Yeah. Just tired."
"Understandable."
"So, that is the woman that interviewed you before. Whitney?"
"Yeah. I didn't realize we would get to meet again like this."
"I wonder if she and that man were possibly trying to look more into that creature."
"I wouldn't doubt it."
"Well, well. Who do we have here?" A man dressed in a military outfit asked. He looked at Y/N with great interest.
Y/N didn't like the way this man looked at her. Nathan, sensing she wasn't comfortable, stepped in front of her, "This is my good friend Y/N. She's pretty tired though and doesn't want to talk much right now."
"Too bad," the man whom Nathan came to know as Gibson replied. "She seems very interesting."
"Maybe another time sir."
"Hmph. Yes. Another time." Gibson then walked away.
Y/N shivered in disgust, "Gross. Bad vibes all over."
"Yeah, no kidding. I don't like his approach to people either."
The rest of the day was spent assessing everything that happened and soon enough, everyone was escorted back home. Y/N, having been too tired to drive, let Nathan take the wheel to take her back home. The drive between the two friends was quiet but neither of them minded that. It was a comfortable silence.
The two reached Y/N's apartment and Nathan helped her out of the car. She was still struggling a bit to walk. He unlocked the apartment door and helped her sit down in her recliner.
"What a day," Nathan said as sat down in the other recliner next to Y/N's.
"Yeah," she replied tiredly.
"Well, if it's alright with you, I can stay overnight. I'll sleep here of course." He blushed a bit with how this was sounding.
Y/N giggled, "Uh, that's fine. Honestly, I may fall asleep in this chair since I'm completely wiped out myself."
"Cool." He covered his mouth as a yawn came out. His brown eyes were beginning to get droopy and soon enough, sleep took over.
She too felt tiredness take over her eyes and she fell asleep in her chair.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He had to get her before she did what she had done in the past. Godzilla continued stomping in the direction of Hadeon. He could easily smell her out but catching her was a difficult task in itself. He hoped to catch up to her quickly. He had to stop her. He couldn't let the past repeat itself. At least he knew that the girl from the beach was safe. She really did remind him of Cordelia. The two absolutely had to be related. He could sense it.
He decided he should stop and take a break. Weariness from the day's events was catching up to him. He decided to bury himself in the sand hills that were all around him. He didn't want to deal with any humans freaking out over him. He completely immersed himself within the sand hills and let sleep take over. He soon began seeing through the girl's perspective in his dreams.
