"Who are you?" Kyo suddenly heard a voice, stilling him in his place and turn around. He saw a small, three-year-old boy looking at him curiously. Suddenly, the boy's eyes widened, becoming as bright as diamonds. "Uncle Kyo? You're uncle Kyo, aren't you?" The little boy exclaimed happily. "To-san! Ka-san! Look! The uncle Kyo you keep talking about is here!" The little boy said, making Kyo shiver slightly.
The next moment, Shigure and Rin came running towards Kyo, shock written all over their face. "Sweetie, I-I'll come back soon, okay?" Kyo stuttered as he tried to run away. However, Shiki pouted and quickly hugged his leg, unwilling to let him go. "Uncle! Please don't leave Shiki again! Papa and mama always talk about you. Why did you leave just before I was born uncle? Why didn't you come back? Do you hate me?" Shiki asked with tears in his eyes, ready to bawl them out any minute.
Kyo's heart broke seeing Shiki's tears. In his whole life, there were only three people he deeply cared for, and was fiercely protective of: one was his late wife, the other his unborn child, and the last was his Shiki. Out of the three, he already lost two. And so, Kyo vowed in his heart, after everything was over, he would help Shigure raise Shiki to be a wonderful man, and give him the life neither he, nor his unborn child could have.
"Shiki dear, don't worry. Your uncle came back to me and you. And he won't leave again." Hearing that voice, Kyo looked up, feeling terrified. Just as he had expected, Akito stood in front of him, smirking evilly.
Kyo turned around and tried to run away, when his way got blocked by two bulky men. He was trapped. "Yay! Uncle Kyo will stay with us!" Shiki said happily as he hugged Kyo's legs. "Shiki dear, go now, your uncle Kyo is tired. Let him rest. He'll play with you later." Akito said as she looked at Rin from the corner of her eye.
Rin continued staring at Kyo in shock, before she saw Akito gesturing her. And so, she sighed and walked forward to pull Shiki away from Kyo. Akito saw her parent's dead bodies come out of the master bedroom. She smirked. "Good riddance. Sohma estate owner's parents killed by enemies will earn me a lot of sympathy. Today is a very auspicious day. I got rid of two burdens and my kitten came back as well. It calls for a celebration. Bring him back to my room."
The two guards pushed Kyo forward. He was about to fight when a voice suddenly interrupted. "Excuse me." It was none other than Inspector Takei. "We got a call here reporting a crime. We came to inves-" He spoke but stopped abruptly when he noticed Kyo. "You?! Here!" Inspector Takei exclaimed as he pointed at Kyo.
"Aren't you the one who escaped from the hospital in Kyushu less than a month ago?! Officers, take him into custody!"
Akito was furious. Who dared to call the police here?! She was just about to get her kitten back under her. But then this bastard interfered. She wanted to shoot inspector Takei. However, she knew better than to act reckless with the law enforcers. And so, she decided to take care of it later with her contacts.
The police took away the dead bodies of Ren and Akira Sohma and took Kyo into custody. Someone watched everything from the first floor in his room and smiled in relief. 'Thank god, he'll be alright for now.' He thought.
Earlier, when Shiki called Kyo, three people heard it. Akito, Shigure and Rin. Akito immediately ordered her guards to capture Kyo, while Shigure and Rin acted fast to save Kyo. Rin called the police from the house landline, while Shigure informed Inspector Takei.

Officer Takei wanted to gather as much information as possible about the escaped victim from the hospital, ever since he escaped, because the murders that happened soon after seemed deeper than it looked like.
And so, Inspector Takei started investigating the escaped victim, and it eventually led him to the Sohmas. And the more he investigated, the more disturbing he found it. Until a few months ago, Kyo Sohma seemed like an almost inexistent person who had no friends and was rarely seen.
He was barely seen for any event, even Akito Sohma's wedding, despite it being a prominent event. Rumors spread around that Kyo Sohma was rarely seen without his bodyguards, always wearing a mask and rarely speaks to anyone. He didn't even have any social media, which was quite disturbing, given that the latter was a teenager. Why would a teenager not have social media, no friends and always be surrounded by bodyguards?
Inspector Takei later found out that whoever tried to befriend Kyo, ended up missing. And so, people avoided him, believing the latter to be cursed. However, once he came to college, just a few months after he turned eighteen, Kyo disappeared along with another girl, Tohru Honda.
Officer Takei had seen Tohru Honda multiple times and had taken a liking to the girl. And, a little while after Tohru Honda and Kyo Sohma had gone missing, Tohru's mother had died by committing suicide, or so people said. People then concluded that Tohru ran away from home, causing her mother to commit suicide in grief. However, the truth seemed deeper than this.
Everything was very fishy. Inspector Takei initially wanted to talk to Kyo regarding the matter of Tohru Honda in the hospital, however Kyo just disappeared without a trace. Adding to that, ever since Kyo disappeared, there had been many murders in the Sohma family or people related to the Sohma family.
The first person to die was Junior officer Kagura, who was actually one of Akito's allies. Although she had been under scrutiny for a while, ever since she was seen in that CCTV footage of her exiting Kyo's hospital ward sweating, she died before Inspector Takei could fully investigate her.
The next person was one of Akito's guards. He had joined recently, about a year ago, but was a close confident and ally to Akito. However, he was found dead as well, near an abandoned cliff, blood leaking out of his body. It was clear he had fallen to his death by falling off the cliff. But was it an accident or was it on purpose? The police had taken the body to the hospital, and later found out the person was extremely drunk and eventually people thought he had slipped off the cliff while drunk.
The next one to die was Kyo's bodyguard who had guarded him since he was ten. The man got burned alive in a car accident in an abandoned highway, late at night. However, Officer Takei doubted it. His instincts were telling him it was another murder, just like the other two, and Kyo was involved in all of them, perhaps even Tohru.
And so, this started Officer Takei's search for Kyo and Tohru along with trying to dig into Kyo's past. He tried to talk to many people who work or used to work for The Sohma Estate. One of the people Inspector Takei investigated was the Sohma family doctor, Hatori Sohma. Although he disclosed nothing, he did give him a number and asked him to directly contact that person.
That person was none other than Shigure, Akito's husband. Inspector Takei called him and although he was reluctant at first, after finding out Kyo was buried in a random grave in a far away town, he agreed to meet up with Inspector Takei.
They decided to meet in the middle of nowhere, on a deserted countryside highway. Shigure met Inspector Takei along with Rin Sohma, and they revealed everything without being coaxed.
"I don't know what my wife did to Kyo after finding out about him, but one thing's for sure. If Akito really did find the two, then that girl Tohru Honda is dead by now." Shigure said, making Inspector Takei stare at him, looking quite shocked.
"Don't be so surprised officer. My wife is only my wife by namesake, because in reality, she is obsessed with one person. And that is Kyo." "May I please know the details?" Inspector Takei asked.
And so, Shigure started speaking. "Kyo is the son and heir of the Sohma estate. In fact, all this property which Mr. Akira and Mrs. Ren claim to be theirs is actually Kyo's mother's, Lili Sohma's property. My father-in-law, Akira Sohma, used to be Mrs. Lili's driver. The greed for Mrs. Lili's property made Akira Sohma sell his younger stepbrother Kazuma Sohma to her and get them married." "That means, all of these..."
"Yes. None of these belonged to the Sohma's originally. Anyways, Akira tried to manipulate his stepbrother Kazuma against his wife, but Kazuma and Lili had fallen deeply in love with each other by then.
Due to being a successful businesswoman, Lili managed to realize what Kazuma's family had done to him and why they forced him into a marriage with her. And so, she made a will in such a way that either Kyo be found and inherit the business by the time he turns eighteen, or else the business will be handed over to the charity." "So..."
"Yes. The greed for property made them search and find an orphaned Kyo on the streets, begging for food. And they handed over the innocent Kyo to the monster Akito."
Shigure had purposefully avoided telling the officer about the curse, because that wasn't too relevant. Besides, the curse wasn't something only Kyo suffered from. All the zodiacs did. If he told the officer about this, it would put the other zodiacs in danger.
"Then what happened?" Inspector Takei asked. "Ever since then, Kyo-sama's life had become a living hell. The poor boy was tortured physically, mentally and emotionally every single day by Akito-sama. He was harassed so much that... Kyo-sama was even scared of breathing without her permission." Rin said. "Did Akito..." Inspector Takei started but trailed off. "No. Master Kyo and Master Akito never had anything sexual. It was more like master, servant. She made sure Master Kyo talked to no one except her. He couldn't even talk to me or the guards that accompanied him. He couldn't do anything without her orders. He... he couldn't even go to the restroom without her permission."
Inspector Takei was shocked while Rin continued. "Guards were a must wherever Kyo-sama went. And he always wore a mask and no one was allowed to talk to him. On the outside, he seemed to be leading a lavish, luxurious life, but only a few people could witness his wretched life every damn day."
"Why did no one try to save him?" Inspector Takei asked. "The Sohma's had become too powerful by then. No one, especially us powerless ones could go against them."
"But then, why did Kyo suddenly start going to the college without guards?" "Because my wife got pregnant at that time." Shigure said. "Meaning?" "My wife only married me so that she could get an heir for the company. And so, when she got pregnant, my mother-in-law forced all of Kyo's guards to guard Akito instead of him. And that is when Kyo met this girl Tohru Honda and they both fell in love with each other."
"So Tohru Honda and Kyo Sohma were lovers?" "Yes. Despite knowing everything about Kyo, Tohru still loved him and vowed to free him from my wife's grip. I also helped as much once I got to know. I gave them as much money as I could and helped Kyo and Tohru escape. And, two years ago, they did. They both vanished from school."
"Then how did Akito find them?" "I don't know. My wife couldn't find them for two whole years despite trying her 100%. I thought they were finally safe and free, away from her reach. But now... after I got your call... I think..."
Shigure broke down crying. Even Rin cried silently. "You think Tohru Honda is no more and Kyo Sohma was actually buried alive by your wife?" Inspector Takei asked. "I'm sure Tohru Honda is no more. But I don't know why Akito would bury Kyo rather than bringing him back here. Because she is obsessed with Kyo."
"Maybe. But I told all the murders that took place recently..." "Yes, Kyo is taking his revenge. I'm sure of it. I don't know how he became this daring though. Maybe him losing the only person he ever loved became a trigger that turned that scared kitten into a fearless warrior, burning his enemies to the ground. And I don't blame him. On the contrary, I want to help him complete his revenge."
"You know what that means. Your wife will be a target too." "I know, but she was never really my wife to begin with. She just needed an heir and chose me for it. I have no relation with that woman. She's a monster and she's paying for her sins. My son is my only concern, nothing else."
"But if Kyo hurt your son for revenge..." "Kyo would never hurt Shiki. In fact, he would happily die for him. When he found out Akito was pregnant, he was relieved, but extremely happy as well. He always talked to me about the child and kept giving me tips to be a better father. If he truly didn't care for him, he would never go that far. Trust me officer. Kyo would never harm any innocent soul. He's just cleaning the earth of some devils."
After hearing everything, Inspector Takei wanted to protect Kyo strongly and was even willing to risk his career for it. Because ethics and laws apart, protecting a person who suffered in the hands of demons was his first and foremost duty.
Also, according to Inspector Takei, if Kyo didn't finish what he was doing, he would never be able to live a simple life. He would be imprisoned again by Akito. And so, Inspector Takei decided to follow his heart for this one and protect Kyo.
He gave Shigure and Rin his personal contact so that they could call him anytime. And when Shigure found Kyo trapped in the Sohma estate by Akito, he instantly informed Inspector Takei.
As soon as he got a call for help, Inspector Takei almost flew his car to The Sohma estate.

Inspector Takei took Kyo with him and shut him in prison for his own protection. Just as Inspector Takei was about to leave, Kyo grabbed his hand, making him look at the boy. "What's wrong?" Inspector Takei asked. Kyo didn't say a word and simply handed over his recorder to Inspector Takei. "You'd like to hear what's recorded in there." Kyo said, making Inspector Takei look at him for a while before leaving Kyo in the prison. However, Akito was more powerful. She contacted her allies from the police department and made sure everything went her way.
The attorney took Kyo with him along with some police officers and some legal papers while Inspector Takei wasn't present. And no one was even allowed to inform him.
The attorney of Akito took Kyo to a remote, unused prison. Because Kyo's report was made very strong by Inspector Takei, he couldn't get complete access to Kyo's custody. So, they took Kyo to a remote prison and chained him up to the wall before pulling out a few papers.
"Sign these Mr. Kyo." Kyo furrowed his brows. "They say a criminal minded psychopath Tohru Honda kidnapped you two years ago, tortured you and even buried you alive. And now she's on a killing spree, killing everyone close to you. This will clear you of all queries and accusations. After you sign them, you will be escorted back to Sohma estate. Leave the rest for me to handle."
Kyo stared at the papers and bit his tongue hard enough for it to bleed. He then looked at the attorney once before spitting out a mouthful of blood on the papers, destroying them in the process.
The attorney was stunned while the police came forward and punched him in the gut, making him spit out another mouthful of blood. "Are you being serious? Mrs. Akito is basically freeing you from these murder accusations and taking you back to enjoy a luxurious life. All you have to do is follow her instructions. I mean, if I were you, I'd jump on it."
Kyo calmly looked at him. "If you were me, you'd never survive it." Suddenly, the next moment, the door burst open, and Inspector Takei came inside. "Who gave you permission to tamper with my case!" He shouted. "Officer Takei, please calm down. I'm his attorney. I got legal orders from the court to have a private conference with my client along with a few law enforcers. You can have him back any time."
Inspector Takei was shocked speechless when he watched the recording Kyo gave him. It was basically a confession of Ren and Akira's crimes. Of them admitting to killing Kyo's parents and having their daughter torture him. He went back to the prison to talk to Kyo about it, only to find out he was freed by Akito. Furious, he drove to the prison his officers took Kyo to.
"Really? So you help your clients by beating them up? Or is he an exceptional case?" "You misunderstood. He has an anger management issue, and we just held him back."
Taking advantage of the distracted trio, Kyo kicked the gun out of one officer's hand and caught it. He then circled his handcuffs around the attorney's neck and held the gun to his head.
"Release me right now and give me your car keys. Or else I'm going to splatter this law filled brain all over the place." Kyo said in a savagely cold voice, making his attorney shiver in fear. With the gun still pointed at his head, the officers uncuffed Kyo, but Kyo still didn't move his gun from the attorney's forehead and retracted him to the exit.
"Now now boys! Be good and don't follow me. Or else you will be called murderers for taking this poor man's life." Kyo dragged the attorney to the police jeep and handcuffed him to the passenger seat, the gun still at his head. He then pointed the gun at the other's and got inside the jeep before driving away.
Inspector Takei smirked before looked at the two officers with a stern face and started shouting. "He escaped again! And it's all your fault! I'm gonna charge you for tampering with my case, you useless bastards!" His voice carried so much authority that it made the officers shiver in fear.
After driving a safe distance, Kyo stopped the car, shot the cuffs such that it freed the attorney and kicked him out. "Tell your precious boss Akito to close the doors and windows as tight as she can, because a storm called Kyo is coming her way." Saying this, he drove off.
