After class, I stacked my files on top of each other and ran down the hall. During this break, I wanted to catch Enoch up with everything, but also, I desired to create a care plan for him.
Before I could do that, I needed to ask him questions. My purpose is to help my students, right? I'm sure Elijah wouldn't mind if I visited my student.
I had no idea where they held confined alphas so I kept walking until I found an alpha standing next to a class as other students exited. "Excuse me!" I waved my hand in the air to gain his attention.
His eyes snapped at me and a scowl was immediately planted on his face. "What do you want?" his voice was so deep that it made the imaginary hair on my arms stand.
"My name is Hideki Mitsuo and I'm the new teacher of class 1A and I'm desperately searching for where they hold alphas who have behavioral issues," I explained. "I'm sorry for disturbing you."
He crossed his large arms and then dismissed the last student from his class. They all gave me googly eyes. I shifted in my stance uneasily. "You'll need to ride the elevator down to that unit."
"Ride the elevator..?" I repeated, slower and yet, in shock because I didn't know this academy had anything like that; an underground where they keep their ill-behaved students.
"Yes, Mr. Mitsuo, you go down the hall and there are stairs leading down to the elevator. It's on the other side of the campus in building D," he elaborated.
"Oh, okay! Thank you so much, mister?" I bowed my head despite not knowing his name.
"Diesel," he gruffly replied. "Now leave my sights, omega."
"Oh, um, okay." I hurriedly obeyed. Something didn't feel right. I had to go to an entirely different building that was across campus just to ride an elevator down to a hidden unit.
I didn't mind walking but this was ridiculous. I hated walking through grass in my clean shoes. Especially when they've been watering the lawn. As I was walking, I noticed how different the buildings were. There were large letters on each building.
I walked past building C which had alphas lingering around it, chatting on their off time. They stopped talking once their hungry eyes pinned on me.
"Greetings, students! Nice day out!" I greeted them with a bright smile despite the terror shivering down my spine to run for my life.
"Yeah. Nice day out," one of the students said while smirking at me. I don't think I like that curious gleam in their eyes.
Once I made it to building D, I noticed that two bulky guards were standing on each side of the door. They were like statues with stoic faces!
"Hello! I'm Mr. Mitsuo and I'm here to visit one of my students," I tell them but they don't react, ignoring my presence.
I cleared my throat and tried a different approach. "My student is named Enoch and I was told he was confined."
Both of the guards gave each other a quick look and then their piercing eyes pinned on me. "Do you have authorization to visit him?" the guard asked with narrowed eyes, suspicious of me.
"I would hope so. I'm his homeroom teacher. You can check the online class schedule. He's part of my—"
"Only alphas have permission to visit the underground unit. You are not on the list," the guard says, returning to his post.
I frowned. What did he mean by that? I cleared my throat and then stood my ground. "Sir, I have every right to visit my student. I am a teacher at this academy and I will not be treated differently because of the title of my species. This is discrimination."
The other guard sighed, "Great. We're not discriminating against you."
"In term wise, you are. You are preventing me from seeing my student because I'm an omega. I suggest the list needs to be updated because I am a qualified lecturer at this academy. I should report this." I tilted my chin up at them, showing them that I was serious about this.
They looked at each other and then one of them shrugged. I couldn't understand the conversation going on between them.
"Fine. You'll have ten minutes," the guards said while stepping out of the way.
"Make it thirty and I'll forget this conversation ever happened."
"Fifteen," he growled.
"Twenty-five," I countered.
"Twenty..?" the other guard offered and I smiled at him.
"Thanks. That'll do for now," I cheekily grinned at the grumpy guard who returned a glare.
"Enter at your own risk, omega."
I climbed the stairs and the doors automatically opened after the locks were lifted.
The inside was completely vacant with no one in sight so I decided to follow Diesel's instructions. I found the stairs that led down to the elevator. Looking at the buttons, I debated whether I should press the ground floor.
That's where Enoch is, right?
I stepped into the dimmed elevator and pressed the ground unit. The doors closed and it began descending. While holding my papers to my chest, I kept to myself in the corner with my back against the metal rail.
When the doors opened, my eyes widened once I saw a long, dark hall with different rooms aligned next to each other like a hotel hall but this didn't look anything close to welcoming.
As I was stepping off the elevator, a woman sitting down behind a small desk in the center of the hallway grabbed my attention.
She was dressed in a black tuxedo with her blonde hair pulled back into a high ponytail. She adjusted her glasses by pushing them up with her middle finger, nails painted in the bloodiest red.
As a soft smirk graced her red-painted lips, her long tongue darted out, tasting the gloss on the perfect pinkness.
"Mmm, what do we have here? Are you reporting another naughty student?" she asks, voice soft yet, seductive and deep.
As she rose from her seat, she was rather tall and curvaceous with a body that many men and women would die to get their hands on. She appeared to be a temptress.
"U-Um, no. I'm here to visit one of my students. I was given twenty minutes," I softly replied.
She raised her hand, carrying a black flopper-styled whip as she opened her eyes, predatory eyes examining me from head to toe. "Ahh, I know who you are," she aimed the whip at me. "You're that new teacher over my favorite set of students. I'm assuming you're here to visit my precious Enoch?"
"Uh..y-yes ma'am?" I didn't know where this was going but I was very horrified at what she was capable of.
Alpha women were extremely rare. In fact, they only took up 1% of the population.
She licked her lips seductively, gawking at me through those thin lenses. "He's located down this hall at the very end. You won't miss it, but I'm surprised, darling. He didn't get many visitors from his past professors," she purred, using her whip to guide me in the direction of his room.
"Well, I take teaching very seriously," I expressed proudly to care for my students.
The click of her heels echoed through this quiet hall as she approached me and she did something I didn't expect—she hugged me, forcing my face in between her gigantic, voluptuous breasts. I could barely breathe!
"Oh! I'd like to personally welcome you to this academy. We need more teachers like you!"
"O-of course!"
"I'm Anna Marie but you can just call me Marie," she placed her slender fingers on my shoulders and put space between us which I gasped for air.
"O-o-okay," I stuttered, panting for air.
"Oh, look," she taps my nose with her acrylic nail with a growing smirk. "Your face is red as a tomato!"
Her British accent thickened. "Lucky for you, I love tomatoes," she flirtatiously winks at me as she grabs the ID card for the cell my student is being confined in.
"Ha..ha," I nervously laughed as she handed me the ID card, not missing the chance to graze her fingers across my palm before walking back to the desk.
She licked her lips, eyeing me as I passed by her. "Have fun. Make sure to keep your distance," she sarcastically warned.
As I was walking down the dark hall, I heard screams coming from a different hallway and I flinched at the horrid sound. "W-what the..?"
All of this didn't matter. I just needed to speak with my students and questioning the academy right now was prohibiting that. There were cameras in every corner of the hall. They made sure not to leave any blind spots!
I stood in front of the metal door with a small squared window located in the middle. I stood on the tip of my toes and peeked in only to find the room was dark.
I lifted the card to the scanner and once the light went from red to green, the metal door created a beeping sound then the metal door started to slide open.
Once the door opened, a cold breeze hit me, sending chills through me.
My skin was pricked with goosebumps and a light suddenly lit up above, creating this dark blue vibrant theme. This cell room was white with nothing but a bed, a toilet, and a metal chair in the middle.
The walls were decorated with drawn pictures but as I observed closer, I realized that it was accurate art of the body parts of Miss Paige...
I clutched the papers to my chest as my eyes diverted to the alpha behind these detailed drawings.
He was sitting in the metal chair with his entire upper body restrained to prevent physical movement. Chains from every direction were attached to him. A metal collar was locked around his neck with metal shackles around his ankles.
His lean, muscular body was hunched over with his head dipped down, and disheveled curly hair hiding his face.
The only thing notifying me that he was alive from how still he was, was the fact his chest slowly rises when he breathed. "Beautiful, ain't she?"
His voice halted me from entering. I was confused about who he was referring to. "Miss Paige?" I hesitated to ask.
He didn't respond until he tilted his head slightly, exposing his sharp jaw. He huskily chuckled and then asked, "Isn't my portrait of her beautiful? She could be beautiful if she just let me carve her fucking face in," he angrily expressed until his expression returned stoically.
I blinked and then stepped into the room and the door instantly closed behind me. I gulped and then sat the papers down on the floor next to his feet.
When I looked up, I saw him staring down at me with eyes that were empty but filled with mischief. "Don't be afraid, Mr. Mitsuo. I quite like you," he licked his lips as he sat up straight. He tilted his head back, stretching his neck which was decorated with tattoos.
I quickly bounced back and then smiled at him once his dead, emerald eyes were locked on me. "Hello, Enoch. I came to bring today's lecture notes. I plan to give quizzes so I didn't want you to fall behind."
My eyes caught sight of one of the drawings which appeared to have speckles of blood splattered across Miss Paige's face.
Even though I had twenty minutes, it felt suffocating to be in this room with him. I wasn't used to this. This place looked like a prison for psychopaths.
"Oh, you're so nice. Unlike the rest of these fucking teachers. I never had anyone bring me any notes before. You really are a good professor," he cooed with crimson coating his cheeks.
He looks down with his face hidden due to his long, curly hair. His shoulders were shaking and it sounded like he was crying.
I reached out to pat him on the back. "What's wrong, Enoch?" The concern was evident in my tone. I was worried for my student's mental health until his cries turned into laughter.
"You should've seen the look on your face," he darkly chuckled while staring at me through those dark strands. He licked his lips. "I really hope you survive."
"Excuse me? Are you threatening me, Enoch?" I asked him. He ignored my question and started humming to himself.
I was wrong. These alphas were no longer children, they were young adults. How silly of me to belittle them since they are still in school.
"No, no, no, I would never threaten such a fine man like yourself. So noble, so honorable, so righteous," he mumbled, almost incoherently. "I just don't want you to end up like my old professor. He didn't die so honorably."
I wasn't about to stand here and take mental abuse from one of my students. I turned around until I heard a soft 'Wait'.
"What is it, Enoch? I need to return to my classroom to prepare for my next lecture." I crossed my arms and then turned around to face him.
"I'm sorry for talking to you like that. It's just..the voices in my head don't like imposters. You seem to care for your students and I applaud you," he wiggled in his restraints, chains jangling from his movement.
His cheeks were rosy pink as he stared at me with heated eyes. "Do you mind removing my restraints? I know I've been a bad boy but I'm in desperate need of pissing."
"You know I can't remove your restraints. I'm going to need to get someone who is a professional. I'm not a trained—"
"You don't have to be trained," he quickly says with soft eyes. "Just get the keys from the Marie. She'll hand them over with no problem. Of course, you'd have to work for it," his voice lowered and his tone suddenly became huskier. "It'll be worth it."
I didn't want to press what he meant by that but I shook my head instead. "I'm leaving. I'll notify someone of your needs."
His act faltered and I started to see the darkness lurking behind those vibrant eyes. "Oh well then. When these doors open automatically, I'll be free anyway," he smirked.
As I was raising the card to the scanner, I asked, "What do you mean by that?"
He slowly licked his lips while chuckling to himself as if I missed the joke. "In a week, these lights will go from red to—," his lips lifted into a wicked smile, "—green."
With furrowed brows, I scanned the ID and the door made that annoying alert sound before opening and I started to think my student was truly too far gone. "Is that so, Enoch? And what will happen when the lights turn from red to green?"
"The doors will open," he bounced his leg while glaring at me with murderous eyes. "And everyone in here with me will be free for twenty-four hours."
I frowned as his eyes traveled from me to the pictures of Miss Paige drawn on the wall. "And I know exactly who I'll be visiting first."
"Enoch, what are you talking about? These doors don't open at all unless you're authorized," I explained to him because he had to be confused.
"Twice a year, my lovely Mitsuo," he says. "Twice a year, every six months, these doors open and the academy goes on lockdown," he excitedly explained further.
I don't know what compelled me to stand there and listen to his rambles. "And then what happens..?"
"Well, well, well," he started looking around the room with a soft gleam. "That's when the strong alphas prevail."
"When the strong alphas prevail?" I softly repeated, narrowing my eyes. "Enoch, I want to talk to you about some things concerning your absences, okay? Let's stop these silly scare tactics."
He chuckled at my expression. "Don't be afraid, Mr. Mitsuo. I won't hurt you. I promise. You're so delicate," he softly murmurs.
I was about to signal the camera to close the door immediately until he asked, "But have you ever wondered what happened to our last professor?"
My brow quirked. "Huh?"
He licked his strong canines as a chuckle rumbled from his chest. "I hope you are in good graces with the many at this school despite your fresh smell."
"Whatever you are trying to do or whatever you're planning with another group of kids will be exploited!"
"Think about it, Mr. Mitsuo. You're surrounded by predators. Every six months, this school goes on lockdown to test the strongest, and the smartest students to see who will thrive out of the many."
"What are you saying..?"
"Will you run or will you fight? Alphas have died at this school during the annual lockdown!" he started laughing hysterically. "It'll be a beautiful bloodbath! It's so fucked up, Mr. Mitsuo. I'm so sorry that you were brought into this hell hole," he softly says with tinted cheeks.
"If this is true, why would a school allow this? It makes no sense." I don't know why I was bickering back and forth with one of my students but he seemed to be pressing this thing.
"To pick off the weak," he whispered, wickedly smirking. "Remember, the people you think are saints at this school ain't so righteous after all, sweetness."
The migraine forming in the center of my head made it clear that I needed to leave right now. I needed to be properly prepared to handle Enoch.
"Never trust a survivor until you find out what they did to stay alive," he growled at me and that brought me back to reality. I flinched at the powerful force of his growl. "Besides, alphas have to release some steam somehow. That's why the acceptance rate is low some years and higher other years."
Could he be making all of this up in his head? There's no way a school this prestigious would allow such things, right?
He bounced his leg irritatingly while forcing his canine into his lip, breaking skin before his tongue darted out and caught the fresh blood. "And remember, anything could happen during those twenty-four hours," he mockingly informed. "Pray to your nonexistent god that no one has claimed you as their bitch."
My body froze.
His voice echoed in my ears as the metal door shuts in front of me and I stood there, staring into space.
I would be insane to believe that unless the professors were aware and also participated to prove their worth at this academy.
