He was hurt badly, impacted by the use of the Infinity Stones, but he was still walking. Bruce's eyes widened as he watched his friend emerge from the smoke. Tony stumbled down the steps. Bruce hurried to his side along with Strange who had managed to escape his electric prison. "Where am I?" Tony questioned. "Friday, what's his status?" Bruce questioned the suit. "Body severely affected. Burns noted on the right side of the body. Heart rate seems normal." The AI answered. Tony's eyes went to his daughter on the floor. He pushed away Bruce and Stephen, no matter their protests, and stumbled toward his daughter. Stark dropped to his knees beside Peter who turned to look at his mentor with teary eyes. "Mr. Stark..." He couldn't stop sobbing. "We need to take her to the hospital wing. Now. Along with the other boy." Strange ordered. Peter, without hesitation, picked her body off the floor and carried her to the hospital wing. Tony followed close behind, utterly confused about everything that was happening. Once they reached the hospital wing at the facility, Peter placed her on top of a bed. He watched as Harley was already being dragged inside. Bruce immediately started to examine her body with the help of Friday and Stephen Strange. "Is she gonna be okay?" Peter asks them. "The left side of the body is badly damaged. Left lung slightly damaged." The AI told them. "She needs surgery. Right now." Strange said and started to push Y/n away. "Is she gonna be okay?!" Peter exclaimed. "I don't know. Stay here." Bruce told him before hurrying after Strange. Peter's hands went straight into his hair as his breathing started to get heavier.
Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder. "Kid," Tony started. Peter squeezed his eyes shut tightly. His heart rate is abnormally fast and he couldn't calm it down. "Kid, you've got to tell me what's going on. Okay? Where's Steve? Thor? Anyone. What's wrong with Y/n? Was she even breathing?" Tony kept rambling on and on. Tears stung in Peter's eyes as he listened to Tony's words. This was a dream, a nightmare, it had to be. Something he couldn't awaken from. "Kid!" Tony raised his voice at him. "The machine!" Peter snapped at him, "You died! Y/n built a machine to undo your death and she got hurt! I tried to stop her, Mister Stark. I tried." His anger turned into sobs. He would never forgive himself if she died. "She did what?" Tony said in a whisper, barely audible. "She wanted everything to go back to normal. I should've talked her out of it from the start. Mister Stark, this is all my fault. I don't- she can't -" Peter broke down into tears. Tony quickly responded by pulling the boy into his chest. He'd grown. Of course, Y/n did something like this. He rubbed Peter's back whilst he let the boy sob into his shoulder "How long was I gone?" He muttered to the boy. "Getting close to two years," Peter answered. Tony let out a sigh. Sure, it was a shock, but somehow he managed to take it well. Maybe he got used to things like this happening during his time as an Avenger.
"Almost two years..." He repeated as he rubbed his forehead. Peter turned back to the doors through which Y/n was pushed moments ago. "My webshooters ran out. I tried- I wanted to -" The tears came running back in his eyes. "Pete, calm down." Peter nodded his head and wiped away his tears. "After you died, everything changed. Y/n was working so hard and I was busy with school. This guy came along, he managed to trick Nick Fury and tried to steal Edith. He used illusion tech and let us all believe he was the good guy. He tried to kill me. We defeated him and everything seemed fine. But then my identity was revealed to the rest of the world. I went to Doctor Strange to cast a spell to let everyone forget, because it caused a lot of trouble, and I somehow disrupted the multiverse. All these crazy villains came out to get me, and two other versions of me. So, to get rid of everyone, Strange cast another spell to make everyone forget. But Y/n remembered me. She told me she was working on a machine to replace the time stone. She would be able to get you back. Undo your death. And it worked." Tony listened carefully as Peter explained what happened in the last few years. Suddenly, Tony understood why Peter was so upset about it all. "So she brought everyone back?" Tony asks calmly. Peter nodded his head in response. "You did good, kid. You did good." Tony complimented him.
Peter's heart warmed at Stark's words. Everything felt so wrong with the machine and Y/n's accident. "She's going to be alright, okay? Bruce is with her." He assured him. Then it hit him. The machine's purpose was to reverse his death. "Natasha," Tony said. Peter nodded again and placed his hands behind his head again. "You, Natasha, my aunt May -" Tony's eyes widened. "May died?" He watched as Peter's soul softly started to crumble even more. The boy really lost everything he had. "I don't know which coordinates she entered into the system. I don't know if they're -" He was cut off by a sweet voice calling out to him. "Peter?" May stood by the door wearing the jumpsuit she wore when she died. But she wasn't covered in blood. It was as if nothing happened. "May," Peter said, almost in a whisper, before rushing toward his aunt. He wrapped his arms around her as tightly as possible, never wanting to let her go again, as she felt her hand go into his hair. He sobbed into her loudly. "You're here." May nodded her head. "Of course I am." When Peter pulled back slightly he got a good look at her face. She reached up her hands to cup his cheeks. "What happened? Where's Norman? She questioned. Peter smiled through his tears and brushed some hair out of her face. "He's home." He answered. May returned the smile. Tony stepped closer to the aunt and nephew reunion. May furrowed her eyebrows when she noticed Tony Stark was standing beside her.
"You -" May started. Peter cut her off and retold the entire story again. His aunt didn't take it as well as Tony. She too was confused but also worried about what would happen now. "Where's Y/n now?" May questioned. Peter turned to look at the doors again briefly. "I-in there." He answered. His hands were starting to sweat again. Suddenly, Bruce pushed through the doors. "Friday is working on her right now. We're having trouble keeping her stable," He tells them. "Why aren't you with her?" Tony's tone was a little harsher than he intended. But this was his daughter's life. "Friday's got her. Alright? I need to examine your arm while she's in there." Bruce tells him. He still couldn't quite grasp the feeling of his friend standing in front of him alive. Tony was gone. He said his goodbyes. Tony turns to Peter who still has watery eyes. "Are you gonna be okay?" Peter nodded in response and told him to go. As Tony limped after his friend, Peter let out a sigh. "Are you alright?" May asks him. "Yeah, it's just a lot to take in at the moment." He could only think of Y/n right now. He dropped to the floor and faced the door. May sat beside her nephew on the floor. "She'll be okay, Peter." She rubbed his back gently. "What if she doesn't?" Peter briefly looked at his aunt, "You didn't see her, May. She looked... dead. She didn't have her suit. I didn't have any webs." He added. The woman beside him gave him a weak smile. "Peter, she's going to be fine." She assures him. They heard footsteps approaching behind them. Peter looked up to see Yelena. Dried tear streaks ran down her cheeks but she seemed more than fine. "Where is she? I heard you and Banner. Is she okay?" Peter pointed his finger toward the door. "She's in surgery." He answered.
She couldn't help but feel guilty. If she hadn't pressed Y/n so much none of this would've happened. Yelena glanced over her shoulder. "She's in surgery," Yelena repeated. "What?" Peter lifts his head at the sound of Natasha's voice. The boy immediately rose to his feet with widened eyes. Natasha Romanoff stepped through the doorway to stand beside her sister making eye contact with Peter. He stuck out his hand. "Uh, we haven't been properly introduced -" He started, "I'm Peter Parker." He added. Without hesitation, she pulled him in a tight embrace. "Y/n?" She asks him. "Uh, her- her left lung is damaged. The whole left side, actually. They're trying to fix her lung before any permanent damage... you know. Before she- she uh..." Natasha nodded as she stepped back to look at him. "She'll be okay." Peter runs his hand through his hair. "I just want to be with her in there." He mumbles. He noticed Natasha smile at him. "What?" The Black Widow placed her hand on his cheek. "She's not gonna leave you. I've seen the pictures. When you were gone after Thanos... I saw the pictures in her room. She loves you way too much to give up now. Nothing to worry about." She tells him. Something in his heart warmed. Nat was her best friend and her aunt. It felt like he just passed the test. "I'm sorry." Yelena apologized. Peter looked at her. "It's fine. All we can do is wait." He sighed and returned to sit with May.
Natasha looked at her sister. Yelena had explained everything after they rushed Harley and Y/n to the hospital. Just like Tony, Natasha wasn't too shocked or confused about anything. "Where's Steve?" She asks the kid. "Uh, Mister Rogers went back in time to return all the stones. But when he came back he was old and... he went back to his time, he wanted to be with Miss Carter. That's what Y/n told me. He uh... I'm actually not sure where he is now." Peter answered. He looked back at May. "I'm sorry this is all very confusing and overwhelming." May places her hand in his hair. "It's okay. I understand, honey. It's okay." She assures him. Peter noticed a familiar warmth and safe feeling as his aunt embraced him. A mother's love. He smiled weakly into their embrace as he hid his face in the crook of her neck. "Take your time, sweetie. It's going to be okay. One step at a time. Let's focus on Y/n, alright? When she wakes up, she'll want you to be by her side. Why don't you focus on that? Cuddling her close as you did back home? Remember that? Think about it. She'll want you close, sweetie." May said to him. Peter nodded his head in agreement. May was right. He would get her favorite blanket and pillows. He should be there when he wakes up. Y/n is all that matters right now.
The night was coming at a slow pace. Peter was bouncing his leg up and down anxiously. He hadn't moved from his seat after May got him a chair. She wanted to stay with him, but Strange wanted to check Tony, May, and Natasha completely to make sure nothing was wrong with them in any way possible. What if Y/n wouldn't be okay? What if her lung would collapse? She would never be able to become a superhero. Did she want to become a superhero? Now that her dad was back, along with Natasha and May, maybe she would. What if one of her legs gave out like Rhodey's? Did the explosion damage her spine? Bruce didn't say anything about that. His thoughts were going all over the place, imagining the worst things possible, and it made him even more anxious. He felt a warm hand on his shoulder. Natasha stood beside him. "Hey," She greeted him before sitting down beside him, now wearing more comfortable clothes. She handed him a warm drink. "It's chocolate milk." She assured him. He smiles at her and sips the warm drink carefully. "Stark said you prefer this over coffee." Peter nodded beside her. "Yeah, this just tastes better." He mumbles under his breath, "And Y/n likes it too during the cold days." He added. "She still does?" Peter nodded quickly and looked at the Black Widow. "I also wanted to say thank you, kid. For taking care of her for the past years." She tells him. "I love her." Natasha nudged his shoulder slightly. "Really? I hadn't noticed." Peter chuckled slightly. Natasha puts her hand on his head and lets him rest on her shoulder. The boy's eyes fluttered shut for a brief second as he let out a sigh. "You've done a great job, kid." She praised him.
