[Sakusa's POV]
It felt very foreign to me to actually let a total stranger sit in my car, but Atsumu was wasted even if he was too stubborn to admit it. I couldn't risk him potentially crashing into someone else on the road and ruining his life like that. There were just too many possibilities as to what could happen. So with that, I started the car and made sure to look over at Atsumu who was struggling with his seatbelt.
"Let me see."
I reached over and tried to adjust it but he instantly tensed up and rejected my help claiming that he could do it on his own. Not only did I realize he was an extremely stubborn person, but that he had gotten more nervous ever since drinking. I kept note of that and reminded myself not to be around a drunk Atsumu before taking the seatbelt from him, buckling it myself, and starting the engine.
Atsumu stayed silent throughout the ride, but every once in a while I felt his eyes staring at me which prompted me to look at him for a second. He instantly looked away and out the window. Most of the city lights were still shining brightly outside, so his face was slightly glowing by the looks of it. He did also seem to look more relaxed than earlier and his eyes were drooping to the point that they finally shut after a while and his head was tilted in my direction.
"Miya?"
He didn't respond which signaled to me that he was already asleep. At the next light, I made sure to adjust his head so that he wouldn't get a cramp, but it just looked like it didn't really matter because he went right back to the previous position and this time was mumbling some incoherent things.
"Samu- yer so mean," he said quietly before letting out a sigh. I slightly smirked and realized that even in his sleep he still had a Kansai accent when mumbling random things about some guy. Didn't really know what he was talking about, but the guy must have been someone really close if he was constantly speaking of him. Then the thought of a boyfriend in the picture made me frown before I looked at Atsumu who was smiling in his sleep. I was really hoping he wasn't dating anyone because that would mean making sure that lover's quarrels didn't get involved with his work progression or cause more controversy.
"Okay Miya, we're here," I said and looked over at him but realized a wasted guy like him was probably in a deep slumber right now. To test it I lightly shook him and watched as it gave me no reaction before groaning and stepping out of the car to his side. The seatbelt being in a somewhat of a locked position allowed me to make sure he wasn't going to fall forward and managed to carry him out. Just the thought of the number of pathogens present on his body was enough to irk me, but I pushed through and headed inside from the downstairs parking garage to the elevator before clicking his ground level with a bit of a struggle. Atsumu didn't seem disturbed by all the movement and continued to sleep away, even slightly clutching onto my black trench coat and snuggling closer. I tensed up at this and prayed for us to reach the floor faster before the 'ding' came and I stepped out. The hallway was desolate which relaxed me and I headed towards his apartment before realizing one thing. I didn't have his keys or the code to his place. I inwardly groaned once more before digging around in his back pocket grabbing hold of his keys and opening the door.
Only a lamp was on in the living room and hallway which gave me enough visibility to remove my shoes and slip on a pair of slippers before looking around for his room. Sure enough, the one room in the place that looked like someone stayed there had the door wide open and I took him over before lying him down gently. He slightly stirred and furrowed his brows before relaxing once more. My eyes narrowed and I realized that he was in bed with his clothing from outside which was totally not hygienic at all. I cringed at that thought and couldn't help it as I pulled his hoodie off of him along with his shoes and neatly placed them on a chair in the corner of the room. Atsumu once again stirred in his sleep and reached out to grab something on the other side of the bed as if his body knew he was now in bed. This was because he grabbed a stuffed bee plush and hugged it tightly. I carefully placed his phone on the nightstand and stood there for a couple more seconds. My eyes ended up scanning the walls of the room and that's when I noticed some frames with pictures of who I assumed was Atsumu in a jersey standing next to some of his teammates. One of the people I recognized was the YouTuber Rin who looked so bored in the picture. I didn't even know those two went to the same school or played on the same sports team. Another was of him looking like he was in tears hugging someone whose back was facing the camera, and a trophy stayed smoshed between them. It started to pique my interest as to what sport he was playing exactly and my eyes lowered to a frame sitting on the nightstand with a childhood photo of two kids smiling while playing in the mud. They both looked eerily similar to each other but one specifically had a bored look on his face as the other hugged him. I slightly cringed at the sight of the mud clinging to their clothing and looked at Atsumu who was sleeping soundly in a curled-up position.
"You're really too much aren't you," I said as I let out an exasperated sigh and pulled the white duvet over his balled-up figure before heading out of his room. In the hall, I noticed the lights were now on which I knew I hadn't turned on before. Something or someone was shuffling things around and I slightly clenched my hand feeling a tad nervous.
"Tsumu, I brought you some Onigiri, so you can stop hiding now and get your ass over here to explain some things to me you idiot," said some guy who had his back facing away from me. the guy soon turned around but didn't seem at all stunned to see me.
"Is Atsumu sleeping?" he asked as he placed some wrapped Onigiri on the counter. All I could do was nod as he finished up, washed his hands, and approached me. That's when I began to notice how much he looked exactly like Atsumu. From the stature to his face. The only thing that was different about him was his hair and demeanor. He seemed more relaxed and serious than him and didn't get at all nervous being around me. His build was also much more pronounced compared to Atsumu who was a bit more smaller than him.
"Miya Osamu, I'm that idiot's twin brother."
My eyes slightly widened and that's when it hit me. He was his twin which is why I thought the two children looked way too similar in that photo. Along with that, that's when I also realized that Osamu wasn't some potential lover at all, but instead his brother. Osamu didn't seem to notice my apprehensiveness to shake his hand but shook it before walking over to the couch and sitting down. He had a look of murder evident on his face which only told me either he was mad at his brother or me which was unfortunate if it was the case because I hadn't done anything to anger him. He only signalled me to have a seat which I did to avoid trouble and watched as he studied me.
"I knew Tsumu was hiding something from me because he wasn't answering his calls or stopping by to get food like usual. So. . . . how long have you two been dating?"
I instantly looked up at him and nearly choked on my saliva.
"Excuse me?!"
"What, I'm only asking a simple question," he said before crossing his arms. It took me a bit to compose myself as I stared up at him and began to explain myself while trying to avoid poking a nerve.
"Sorry, but I think you've misinterpreted something here, Miya. Your brother and I are not dating, I just came to drop him off because he was too wasted to drive alone," I said while trying to maintain some sort of grip on the situation. His brother only narrowed his eyes in suspicion at me.
"So if you're not dating my brother then who are you?"
"I'm his new manager/trainer Sakusa Kiyoomi."
There was a slight hint of recognition on his face before he covered his mouth and looked like he had just seen a ghost.
"That idiot. . . . Did he sign something with you by any chance?" He asked with concern lacing his voice. I nodded which only made him look more frustrated and ready to possibly kill his brother.
"So what Suna said was true then. He signed with you to compete in tournaments huh?"
"Yes, is that a problem by any chance?" I asked. Osamu looked more stressed than ever but maintained a certain degree of emotional control.
"Yeah, I just really didn't want him to expose himself like that. You see, he has a habit of doing things with zero rationality at times and constantly risks putting himself in danger. Things like going out in public aren't really his thing no matter how confident and cocky he can get at times."
"Is that how he is most of the time?"
Osamu nodded and began to explain to me Atsumu's nervous tendencies when it came to actually being around too many people. He had confidence which is what he assured me, but that Atsumu had a habit of overestimating his ability to take things on which is why he constantly argues with him.
"We used to play volleyball back in high school, and he was such a good player and really wanted to pursue pro volleyball later on after graduating," Osamu said which made me quirk a brow up realizing that volleyball was the sport he was playing. Then a thought came to my mind right after.
"Then why didn't he," I asked. Osamu seemed a bit distant in thought and spoke.
"Well, he wanted to do it with me, but I realized that it wasn't really my passion and decided to just let him strive alone. That however didn't seem to sit well with him and he got too scared to do it alone so he stopped playing altogether. It was a shame really because he was one of the best setters in Japanese high school sports and we constantly went to nationals, but I guess he just didn't feel confident enough anymore."
"So when did he start streaming then, because it doesn't seem like he has been in the profession for that long?"
Osamu nodded and explained that Atsumu had only gotten into streaming and gaming after some of his friends had encouraged him to try it. That is when I seemed to have gotten an idea as to what kind of individual Atsumu was and I didn't like the idea of signing him on that much anymore. If what Osamu was telling me was true then Atsumu would have a really difficult time actually adjusting to being on stage. Even having a slightly wavering personality was especially difficult to function within this type of world. It wasn't the same as being a streamer and getting to be on the screen without interacting with the other people on the other side of the screen.
'Did I make the right choice?'
[Author's POV]
While Sakusa was dealing with Osamu, Iwaizumi had to deal with a bigger issue than someone's intimidating brother. He had finally come home at around three in the morning after making sure everyone was safely home only to get scared shitless by Oikawa's body lying completely still on the kitchen floor. Iwaizumi thinking the guy had died or something immediately picked him up and placed him on the couch to make sure he was okay.
"Hey, Oikawa!! Can you hear me?!"
He was slightly panicked and shook his body which gained no response from the guy until a couple of seconds later when his eyes lazily opened slightly. Iwaizumi let out a sigh of relief and was about to ask Oikawa how he ended up in the kitchen only to be utterly dumbfounded by his question.
"Are- Are you Godzilla. . . . You look like him Iwa-chan~" Oikawa slurred out with a wonky smile on his face. He also giggled a bit and grasped Iwaizumi's bicep. This made Iwaizumi swat his hand away and glared at the giggling individual below him in some silky blue pajamas.
"Yeah, you're never drinking again," Iwaizumi said before hauling Oikawa on his shoulder and taking him to his bedroom.
"WEEEE~ This is totally my type of ride."
Iwaizumi rolled his eyes at his roommate's attics before tossing him not so gently on his bed which made Oikawa instantly shut up and try to give Iwaizumi his most menecingly possible glare at the moment.
"Are you really 23, because you act like a 2-year-old," Iwaizumi said in a huff. Oikawa looked extremely offended and sat up on his knees before grabbing whatever stuffed animal and pillow off of his bed and tossing it in Iwaizumi's direction. Iwaizumi got the hint to get out of there, and so that's what he did before heading to his room for the night. However, it didn't take long for Oikawa to appear at his door only a couple of minutes later with a strange expression on his face. Iwaizumi looked at him and waited for the guy to say something. His menacing stare was enough to have Oikawa stare at the floor only to look up momentarily to say something.
"I threw up on my bed. . . ."
Iwaizumi took a moment to process what he had said and groaned in frustration. It was as if Oikawa was going to have to be babysat all night at this point.
"Come here," he said before leading the half-drunken individual to his bed and tucking him in. He also placed a small bucket next to the nightstand to ensure he didn't vomit anywhere near the comforters. Oikawa was visibly upset about ruining his bed and only allowed the guy to help him out before seeing him disappear out of the room. He had gone into the other's room to clean up the mess on the comforter with apprehensiveness and tossed the ruined sheets into a bag before spraying some disinfectant. Iwaizumi proceeded to look around and make sure that Oikawa didn't throw up anywhere else and returned back to his room only to see Oikawa once again fast asleep. He was planning on sending him back to his room, but it would be another waste of time if Oikawa and he continued to mess around all night and decided to leave him there.
he soon settled down in bed and hoped that would be the end of this questionable endeavor.
