Step step step; Your daily routine consisted of patrolling around the city of Fontaine. Your standard uniform is similar to those of the officers, both humans and Melusines, the exception being your tricorne hat and badge.
The reason for your slight differences is because your job of authority is more specialized. You were appointed Chief of the MPS by Monsieur Neuvillette himself. The MPS stands for Melusine Protection Services; you handle and investigate any affairs involving Melusines accordingly.
The Ordainer of Justice is an occupied man who cannot oversee all the affairs of Melusines personally whenever. So he created the MPS as a specialized subdivision of the Maison Gardiennage as an extra set of protective eyes over the beloved Melusines he values as beautiful beings of Fontaine.
How you came to earn this title is a special memory for you. The job was nonexistent while you trained to be a part of the Gardes. The interesting thing about the academy is that they were mixed with Melusines as they are allowed to apply for any job humans can. However many Melusines in the authority field usually become a part of the Mauchessee Phantom due to their special abilities.
Academy work was demanding, a serious responsibly to be part of a force that ensures safety and order in Fontaine. That being said, it was a competitive environment. The other trainees were intimidated by Melusines, they held super abilities a human couldn't compare to.
When a group is intimidated what they often do is try to break apart whatever it is they are threatened by. This was no good news for Melusines as certain people tended to bring them difficulty, using their short statutes against them.
The Melusines aren't weak beings but they long for harmony with humans. So to prevent conflict they endure the bullying and try to understand humans. No one seems to take the time to understand them, at least not enough for genuine effort as they do.
When word of Neuvillette coming to review the progress of the division in training got out the competition only heightened. You did your best to keep up with the others, assisting Melusines and cleaning up after the troubles caused towards them.
The morning he'd arrive you were all expected to be dressed and in formation bright and early. However when morning came someone had played a cruel prank of placing the Melusines uniforms in a ridiculously high spot.
"[Name], I know this might be a lot to ask but could you help us reach our uniforms?"
Around 5 Melusines gathered around you seeking for help as you put on your own trainee uniform. To help them would delay you greatly, the others knew that too. Denied help they looked to you as a final resort.
"So we might run a little late"
you reassured them it was no trouble.
They brought you to the lounge where their uniforms were all messily placed onto every tall furniture. It was high, even for you, regardless you grabbed a stool and assisted them. You even waited for all of them to get properly ready.
It'd be one thing if all the Melusines showed up late, a harmful stereotype about them could be created by that. If they appear late with a human then whatever mean comment made can't be exclusive to their species.
"If we go as a group then we can face lateness penalty together"
You offered.
"Are you sure you don't want us to explain that we made you late?"
they asked
"Nonsense, you didn't make me late. Whoever is responsible for this did."
Once everyone was ready you all marched towards court, well over 20 minutes late into the greeting of respect showcase. Neuvillette himself was confused on the lack of Melusines in the group.
"I thought they were also training amongst this group?"
he asked
"They probably realized this place isn't for little girls and quit."
a Garde outspoke.
Neuvillette stoically approached the Garde
"Excuse you, Is that the kind of language you think is appropriate?"
"Ah, no sir. What I meant was perhaps.. they-"
They sweated with intimidation
"We're here! we.. hah.. we're here."
you huffed out of breath
The chief trainer face contorted in embarrassment to see his platoon a mess in front of Neuvillette himself. Of course to not offend Neuvillette any further by lashing out at a Melusine he turned towards you,
"Do you have any idea how late you are?!"
"Sir I-"
"Are you responsible for the lateness of the Melusines?"
The chief asked with undertones of accusation
Neuvillette stepped towards your interrogation, awaiting your response. His face stern by this ridiculous situation.
"No, of course not!"
you pled
"It's our fault they're late."
A Melusine spoke up, stepping in front of you defensively.
"What happened exactly?"
He crouched down empathetically to the worried beings.
"Someone messed with our uniforms, [Name] was the only one willing to risk lateness to help us reach our uniforms."
she spoke
"Lies, none of would ever do that. They are just coming up with lies to excuse their incompetent lateness."
the same garde spoke out defensively.
"Silence! This is unheard of, tensions of pranks and bullying like this was never reported before."
The chief tried to appeal to Neuvillette.
"[Name]! Be respectable and tell them that the Melusines are making it up."
The Garde pleaded to you
You knew what he meant, that as a fellow human you should side with them. They'd often comment on your unwillingness to participate in their pranks. Saying that you're helping the competition, handing your opportunity of a job to them.
"No. They aren't making this up, that Garde and his group of friends are always harassing them."
you retorted back, tired of letting them have their way all the time.
"Wait [Name] you don't have to-"
the Melusine tugged on the hem of your coat.
"They won't even speak up for themselves because they want to get along with you."
The Garde's eyes widen from that confession. His stuttered his words defensively,
"We aren't here to make friends. If they can't handle getting their own clothes then they shouldn't be able to handle protecting this city."
"And you can? What I see is an unfit group of trainees."
Neuvillette scolded the chief.
A new chief, one with more watchful eyes, was appointed as replacement. Out of humiliation and unfitness the bully Gardes quit the program. Neuvillette implemented 2 new education courses, the required one being about creating a respectful working environment and the second one optional humanities like course inclusive of Melusine culture.
The second option was more of an extracurricular and many people were not interested. So you happened to be the only human there, the other Melusines only went to enhance and understand their abilities to the fullest.
After the course you were surprised to see Neuvillette out by the door, he was shocked himself to see the other humans were not interested in this course. He stops you,
"May I have a word with you?"
his tone was polite
"Yes sir."
"Where are the other humans?"
he asks
"Oh, they aren't so interested in this since it's not a required course."
He seemed appalled
"Why not? Melusines are lovely beings."
"They are quite exceptional, I've learned so many interesting facts. Oh but, not everyone really wants to take the time to go the extra mile for them. I do assure you the tensions have calmed down since your last visit."
"Hm, Remind me of your name."
he hummed
"[Name] [Last Name]"
you bowed in respect.
After the interaction you didn't think much of it until your chief called you in for a personal meeting.
"Monsieur Neuvillette would like to appoint you as Chief of The Melusine Protection Services. Do you accept his proposal?"
"Melusine Protection Services?"
"It's a specialized subdivision he's created to ensure harmony for Melusines be it interpersonal, interspecies, or with other humans."
"This is an addition to the Maison Gardiennage?"
you were intrigued by the new opportunity.
"It's more like a connector of the Maison Gardiennage and the Mauchaussee Phantom. You are allowed to partake in detective investigation if necessary for a Melusine."
"Who else is part of this subdivision?"
"No one else at the moment, hence why you're appointed Chief."
"What? I'm the Chief of no one for a made up position?"
you had hesitance about the responsibility at first.
"Not everyone gets a specialized job made specifically for them on the account of Neuvillette. To work under him as a extra set of eyes."
"You're right, I suppose this is a honorable opportunity. I accept!"
"Excellent, I'll have the paper work sent and they'll send you an official uniform."
The next day in your academy dorm you found the uniform nicely folded onto you bed. Next to the clothes laid a rapier sword, a long thin piercing sword that is usually meant for dueling. The uniform looked similar to the Garde's official uniform with the exception of MPS badge and tricorne hat. Underneath the uniform there was a soft glow, you stumbled back in surprise after unveiling it. A Cryo Vision laid there.

It lit up brighter as you touched its coldness, affirming you that this was another special gift appointed to you from celestia above. Two important awknowledgements in one day was definitely an exciting sign about your new occupation.
