The clicking of my six inches heels on the tiled floor of headquarters' corridor gave me a confidence like eighth wonder.

Cladded in a pastel pink suit, I was all set for the day. My hair open, dark red lipstick on my face and the minimal eyeliner coating my eyeline was all that I needed today. I had my hair tie tied on my wrist incase I need to hold my hair in an up-do I'll be ready to do so, without the need to make a run towards my bag.

Knocking on my boss's door with my i-pad tucked under my arm and the tray with a tea cup ready, I barged in after his permission.

"Good morning." I greeted. He reciprocated the wish followed by the instant grab of the tea cup. He moaned at the first sip as he gave his attention to me.

Dark lines coated the underside of his eyes making him look like he's in his forties instead of his twenties.

"Another long night with Aarohi?" I ask him. He sighed and nodded.

"I guess I have an appointment with the lawyer today?" He asked me referring to Monica Jahangir, his lawyer for personal cases.

"Yep." I answered him.

"So, what do we have today?" He asked me, referring to his schedule.

"A meeting, in half an hour, for the Indian Fashion week. You'll have to approve the designs sent by Prisha ma'am's NGO.

Following the meeting is the monthly progress report meeting with the HODs.

Then you'll be free to have your meeting with Ms. Jahangir.

Oh! And you have Aarohi's appointment with Pediatrician too. I guess you'll want to accompany her." I reminded him.

"And then you'll have a few finance reports from Ambala and Chandigarh to review. That's all." I reported him.

He nodded as he finished his cup of tea. Standing upto his glorious height of six feet one inch, he buttoned up his suit and asked me to lead the way.

Instead of me opening the door, it was my boss holding the door for me showcasing how gentleman he is, like always.

A few designs sent by the NGOs were approved, many were rejected and many were sent back for improvement with sticky notes about what is wrong in them.

The next meeting with the HODs concluded with the boss's demeanour being deamening.

For his appointment with his lawyer in his cabin, I left him alone. As I sat down in my cabin with a thud, I groaned.

Slipping my legs out of the heels, I massaged my heels and toes. Tying my hair into a ponytail, I concentrated on the flooded e-mail box.

Answering a few, I heard a knock on my cabin's door. My eyebrows furrowed. I asked the person on the other side to enter.

The door opened to reveal my boss in distress.

"Aarohi fell down from the cot. I.. I have to go." He sounded much distressed. I stood up and walked upto him in bare foot.

"Is she okay? Is she hurt?" I asked him. I was genuinely worried about the little lady. I can already picture her wailing with blood here and there, and it's pains me equally if not more. God! I really hope she's okay.

"I don't know. Would you.." He licked his lips. "Would you like to accompany me? I don't know how to make her stop crying and mumma and bhabhi aren't at home to help me too." He asked.

I immediately shook my head in positive. "Ofcourse! Let me slip into my shoes quickly." I told him.

Instead of slipping into my heels, I opened the small cabinet adjacent to my table that had my Nike converse. This cabin was like my temporary home and having goods of emergency was natural.

Grabbing my phone, my handkerchief and my keys, I walked out of my cabin with my boss on my toes. I dialled Wahaj's number and asked him to keep the convoy ready and arrange for the crown prince's security from the palace to the hospital.

By the time we reached the ground floor, Wahaj was already opening the door for us to enter.

Sitting in the car, my feet began dribble in anxiousness. My boss was no different as he began chewing is nails in nervousness.

Walking into the palace and towards his chamber, I found the- still- crying toddler in her crib with the baby sitter by her side.

"How did she even fall of the crib?" My boss asked as he assessed his daughter's swollen forehead calmly.

"She was trying to stand up using the crib rods, got dis balanced and ended up banging her head on the crib rod." She explained, nervously.

Mr. Rathore nodded his head and picked up Aarohi into his arms. Surprising everyone, she began wailing louder at her father holding her. Adyansh Singh Rathore panicked at her cry and passed her over to me in a haste.

I glared at the nervous man in front of me. Had I not been ready to catch her, she would have ended on the floor, hurting herself again. My boss surely needed some fatherhood classes.

Rocking Aarohi in my arms, I cooed at her. "Is my baby hurt? Was she trying to stand on her own? Aren't you a little independent fella?" I booped her nose with my index finger, making her giggle between her cries.

Tear still streaked down her chubby little cheeks but she was now comparatively calmer.

"Pass me the baby wipes, please." I asked my boss.

"These ones?" My boss asked picking up a pink coloured packet. I nodded my head and forwarded my hand. He kept the packet on my hand.

I sighed and tried again. "I can't open the packet while holding Aarohi, Adyansh. Please open the packet and hand me a single wipe." I made him understand.

He nodded his head and passed me a single wipe this time. Wiping her cheeks while she tried to hold my loose hair strand.

"Hold Aarohi for a second, I'll quickly ask Wahaj to get everything ready." I told Adyansh.

He shook his head rapidly. "I'll call Wahaj. You keep holding Aarohi. She'll start crying the moment I hold her."

I nodded my head in amusement. Rocking her in my arms, I hummed randomly as she stuck her head to my chest and yawned.

"Isn't my little bug tired of all the crying? Are you going to sleep like a good baby?" I rocked her around.

<Incase if you're wondering what a two year old would be looking like.>

"The cars are ready." Adyansh informed me. I nodded and followed his lead to the entrance.

Sitting inside the car, I kept Aarohi close to my chest as she kept doodling on my collar with her little fingers. I patted her back softly and turned around to look at my boss.

My boss, on the contrary, was looking intently at the little human in my arms. He seemed to be in deep thoughts by now.

I wonder what he must be thinking.

I am coughing like an Asthama patient today! ☠️
