A/N: Trigger warning for gun violence.

_ _ _

There was no guidebook when it came to escaping the police. There was only one goal; don't get caught. If you just happen to be watching a police chase happen in real time, the best thing to do is stay out of the way. Don't try to play hero, it might not work out in your favor.

Some dumbass behind the wheel of a Ford pickup truck learned this the hard way. Upon seeing the cop weaving through the highway chasing after the pair of Ninjas, the owner sped up to help him out. He could see the cop through the window with blood trickling down his nose. What the hell happened?

Police sirens screamed in the late afternoon. Thankfully, traffic hadn't been too bad yet. Changbin and Lee Know laughed in delight as they sped between cars. Weaving in and out of different lanes. A never-ending game of cat and mouse.

The cop slammed on his horn a few times trying to get people to pull off to the side to get around them. Not everyone was too keen on yielding to the cop. Without his radio, he couldn't call for backup. The radio had been wrapped around the front of Lee Know's handlebars.

The man in the pickup truck who saw this going on, sped up. He figured he could help stop, at least, one of the men. He was stuck between the three of them. The cop was directly behind him and the motorcycles were a few feet ahead of him.

He sped up to catch up with the pair of men. When they realized this, they sped up too. Their speedometers were going over eighty-five miles an hour and still rising. The danger of the situation was increasing every second.

"Why the fuck is this dumbass riding our asses?" Changbin grumbled into his helmet.

"He probably wants to help out the cop," Lee Know responded. He kept glancing back in his rear-view mirror to see the navy blue truck.

All four of them had finally reached an empty stretch of highway. The cop's bloody face was bright red as he screamed at the truck in front of him. He honked on the horn, and tried to wave the man out of the way, but the man didn't respond. He switched lanes, but for some reason, the man in front of him kept blocking him.

The cop had started to wonder if the man was working with the other two. No matter how much he tried to speed up, the man sped up too. He gritted his teeth and clutched his steering wheel tighter. He wasn't going to let the two men that assaulted him get away no matter what.

"Gun!" Lee Know's voice cried out as he shifted his body weight to adjust the position of his bike. "He's got a gun!"

A loud rumble filled the air. Changbin sped his bike up faster. If they were hit by bullets, there was no doubt that they'd lose control of their bikes. If the back tires were popped, they'd be launched over the handlebars. With the speed they were going, the force of impact, and gravity; being tossed from their bikes would kill them.

Pop!

The bullet barely missed Lee Know's head. He jerked his head down and sped up. He had no idea if the helmets would be able to withstand a bullet or not and he didn't want to find out.

Pop! Pop! Pop!

The gunfire rattled off without a proper aim. The man steered his truck with one hand and kept his gun out of the open window with the other. Bullets spewed in every direction. Back in the cop car, the cop's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Why was this man shooting at the guys? Even if he was pissed off at them for assaulting him, he knew how dangerous that was.

Changbin and Lee Know sped up even more. The engines beneath them rumbled as they topped over a hundred miles an hour. Their hearts were pounding in their chests. Changbin cursed beneath his breath. Further down the road, there were multiple cars not moving. It must have been the end of a traffic jam.

"Are you ready to do something crazy?" He glanced back at Lee Know in his rear-view mirror. Another gunshot went off.

"Depends on what it is."

"There's a side road coming up here. If we follow it for a while, it'll lead into a back country road. We can take it back to the warehouse. It'll be risky, but if we take a sharp turn, the truck won't have time to follow us."

"Just tell me when it's coming up."

"Right here." Changbin jerked himself over to the side to get the bike to take the sharp turn. The rubber tires squealed in objection against the pavement. He gritted his teeth and leaned over more to get the bike to make it.

Lee Know followed. After making the turn, his bike wobbled a bit, but he quickly readjusted his balance. Just like Changbin said, the truck following them didn't have time to turn. The owner cursed in his truck and slammed his fist down on the horn. A sharp beep filled the air.

Although the truck couldn't turn, the cop could. He had to turn the wheel almost a full one-eighty degrees, but somehow he made it. He jerked the wheel back the other direction to set the axle straight.

Unlike Changbin and Lee Know, the owner of the truck hadn't realized that traffic was stopped up ahead. The man's green eyes widened as the back of an SUV quickly approached him. The head of a child popped out through the side window.

It all happened so quickly and it was over in a few seconds.

The child looked at the oncoming truck and grinned. The boy was missing a handful of his baby teeth. In the front of the car, his mother was on the phone complaining to her friend about the traffic delay. She didn't see the truck speeding towards her car, but she realized her son was hanging out the open side window. She pulled her phone down and told him to get his head back in the car. The boy soon obliged.

The owner of the truck hollered as he jerked his steering wheel with both hands. Tires scuttered across the cement road. The smell of burnt rubber filled the air. Upon hearing squealing, the mother glanced out the side of her car. Her high pitched scream caused her son's ears to begin to ring. The truck just barely skimmed past the SUV.

The man's eyes widened. He tried to turn the steering wheel, but he was going too fast. All he could do was brace himself for impact. With a loud crash, his truck drove head first into a tree, and his world went dark.

The woman watched in horror. The front half of the truck was smashed and forced into the back half. The tree trunk was no match for the truck. Metal crunched and twisted, glass shattered, and soon bright red bits of flesh was all that remained smeared among the wreckage. The tree's thick trunk continued to stand tall.

Tears filled her eyes at the realization of what had just happened; her and her son just narrowly escaped a similar fate.
