Zoe grabbed her heels as she ran down the steps following her Sphinx cat, Chewbacca, down the stairs. "I'm coming, boy." She muttered as he kept meowing at his bowl watching her grab his breakfast.
"You're lucky you're cute." She muttered as he started to eat. She didn't hesitate to make a pot of coffee and lay out one muffin and grabbed an apple before rushing up the steps.
In the room across the hall from her own, her twin brother, Dexter was still sound asleep ignoring his alarm, which was now on the floor, and broken. His lacrosse uniform was hanging up neatly with his lacrosse stick and helmet next to it.
The uniform was clean and steamed as the rest of the room was messy.
Zoe sighed seeing her brother's door still closed. "Dexter!" She yelled banging on the door, hoping to wake him up. "Dexter, we have to get to school. It's our first day."
"Jesus, women." Dexter said, opening the door now dressed in a black tee and a flannel in his hand. "I'm up. Come on." He said, leading his sister down the stairs. As Zoe grabbed her bag and her coffee to go as Dexter grabbed the muffin and his keys.
Zoe laid out some treats for Chewie leaving the apple with one bite on the coffee table. Zoe put on her heels before getting into her brother's car and he instantly started driving. She fixed her hair and started to put on her makeup making her brother scoff.
"Did you even brush your teeth this morning?" She asked Dexter, making him mock her in response. "Are we going to see mystery boy today?" Dexter asked after a moment of silence. Zoe flicked the top of her brother's head before staring at Beacon Hills passing by.
"No, that was Freshman year Zoe. I'm just going to let this year go by and hopefully graduation will come soon." She muttered. "You know it's okay to love someone different?" Dexter asked her, "You don't have to be afraid anymore."
Zoe sighed as the two pulled into the Beacon Hills High School parking lot. Zoe looked around seeing all the students excited to start the new year of school and see their friends daily. She opened her mouth to respond but she saw the look on her brother's face.
She knew something was brewing in Dexter's mind. She reached over grabbing his arm and squeezing it three times before she got out of the car.
"Zoe!"
Zoe looked up to see her best friend, Lydia Martin, rush towards her. Dexter smiled at the girl before he walked over to the bike rack waiting for his best friend to arrive.
"You look amazing." Lydia told her as she grabbed Zoe's pinkie. "Thanks. Same to you." Zoe said to her as she immediately quieted herself down, afraid of the stares.
"Always putting on a show." Dexter muttered as he watched his best friend, Jackson Whitemore, drive up to the school with his windows down. "You're just jealous." Jackson said to him with a smirk.
"Of what exactly?" Dexter asked, laughing as the two started their walk towards the school. Dexter's shoulder hit another boy as he scoffed. "Watch where you are going, McCall." Dexter said to him.
"Sorry." Scott muttered, earning a glare from the two boys.
"Why does my brother have to play the asshole?" Zoe asked Lydia watching the two boys walk into school. "Cause we can't be." Lydia said laughing, pulling the Klein girl along.
Stiles Stilinski and Scott McCall stand right by the school's entrance as they talk about the body Scott found the night before. "This is the best thing to happen in Beacon Hills since the birth of Lydia Martin and Zoe Klein! Hi Zoe, you -" Both girls walk past him as Lydia Martin tries to ignore him "look good today." Stiles finishes as he catches Zoe staring at him.
She knew the boy with a buzzed head. She knew his dad very well since he was the Sheriff and her dad's so called best friend back in the day
But her eyes quickly glanced at the boy with shaggy hair. The one that Dexter knocked into this morning. She knew her mystery boy but she knew he had to remain a mystery.
Zoe waves and smiles at the boys, her eyes going back to the buzz cut. "Zo! Come on!" Lydia yelled, causing the brunette to rush behind her.
As the two girls separated for the first period, Zoe was moving silently through the door trying to find a seat.
The two boys in front of her, look up amazed that Zoe chose to sit with them ignoring the others in the room.
"What?" She asked, noticing them stare at her as she takes a seat. Both boys quickly turn around, making her smile. "You're Noah's son, right? The Sheriff." Stiles turns around and nods quickly.
"Nice to officially meet you..." Zoe says, taking a pause, "I can't remember your name." She mutters.
"Stiles." He says, "It's okay." Zoe turns red before turning to Scott with questioning eyes, "Scott. Stiles and Scott. Yeah..." Stiles answers, causing the two teens to break their stares.

Dexter whistled as he walked outside the school, regretting starting this year. He walked Lydia to her class with Jackson and then he quickly left, trying to find peace before he had to face this part of his world.
"Mom, three calls on my first day is a little over doing it." He looks up when he hears a voice say outside with him. He looks up to see a new girl on her phone. "Everything except a pen. Oh, my god I didn't actually forget a pen." She says as she searches through her phone.
Dexter quickly reaches into his backpack reaching in as he pulls out a pen. He looks up as he walks over to her and holds in front of her face. "I gotta go." She says hanging up the phone. She takes the pen from Dexter with a smile, "Thanks." She says to him. Dexter shrugs as he takes a seat next to her, "How do you forget a pen?" He asks her laughing.
"Sorry to keep you waiting." The principal says walking out of the school. "Mr. Klein, what are you doing out here?" He asks, causing Dexter to stand straight up, "If I told you, you probably would give me detention." The principal, not amused, cocks his eyebrow and points towards the school. Dexter nods as he turns around to the girl, "See you around New girl." He calls out.
He walks to his class as he reaches into his bag, "Shit. I don't have another pen."
🐺
"As you all know, there indeed was a body found in the woods last night. And I'm sure your eager little minds are coming up with various scenarios as to what happened, but I am here to tell you that police have a suspect in custody." The teacher spoke, "Which means you can give your undivided attention to the syllabus which is on your desk outlining the semester." The teacher finished as groans were heard throughout the room.
Walking into the room, everyone looks up as Allison Argent takes everyone by surprise. Zoe immediately looks at the new girl knowing that she and Lydia were going to be her own personal welcoming committee. And she loved the idea of putting her and Dexter together.
"Class this is our new student, Allison Argent. Please do your best to make her feel welcome." The principal said as Allison took her seat behind Scott. "We'll begin with Kafkas Metamorphosis on page 133." The teacher said
Scott turned around to give Allison a pen making both girls confused before the new girl took it. Zoe didn't miss her hiding another pen in her jacket sleeve.
🐺
"Allison, right?" Zoe says walking right up to her. "I'm Zoe Klein. Welcome to Beacon Hills." The girls shake hands as the famous strawberry blonde walks up to them. "That jacket is absolutely killer. Where did you get it?"
"My mom was a buyer for a boutique back in San Francisco," Allison explained to them.
"And you are our new best friend," Lydia says as Allison looks over to Zoe as she gives her a big smile. "Hello, ladies." Dexter and Jackson Whittemore walk up behind Zoe and Lydia. Lydia gives Jackson a quick kiss as Zoe and Dexter both fake gag in response.
Zoe greets Jackson as her eyes travel down the halls to see Scott and Stiles both staring at them, though Stiles is in a conversation with Harley.
She waves to Scott with a smile on her face before turning back to her conversation. "So, this weekend there's a party." Lydia says breaking Zoe back into thought. "A party?" Allison asks. Dexter nods as he leans up against the lockers next to Allison. He tries to keep himself calm but he can't help but feel intrigued by her, "This Friday. You should come."
Allison looks between the group of people now surrounding her as she quickly comes up with an excuse for family night. Dexter deflates at the excuse as he stands straight up and his face turns to stone. "You sure? Everyone's going after the scrimmage." Zoe says to her.
"You mean like football?" Allison asks as the whole group chuckles. "Football is a joke in Beacon. The sport here is lacrosse, we've won the state championship for the last three years."
"Because of a certain team captain," Lydia says as she kisses Jackson's cheek. "We have practice in a few minutes. That is if you don't have anywhere else-"
"Well, I was going to-"
"Perfect you're coming." Lydia and Jackson walk off leaving the twins and Allison. Zoe chuckles as she looks at the new girl's face. "See you two out there." Dexter walks off after the couple.
Zoe links arms with Allison as they both start their walk to the field. "It is more fun than it seems. Also, yes, Jackson and Lydia are always like that. You get used to it, trust me." Both girls chuckle before Allison asks about Dexter. "He's my twin brother. Don't let him scare you, he has some issues but he's a really nice guy." Zoe says softly.
All the girls sit on the bleachers as they watch the team start to practice. "Who is that?" Allison points to Scott McCall getting into the goal. "I don't know." Lydia says. "Scott something." Zoe said, "He's in our English Class."
Zoe winces as she watches Scott gets hit in the face with a ball. Once Coach decides to start again, Scott starts to actually catch the balls. Dexter narrows his eyes at this kid as he gets ready. He throws the ball aiming in the top corner of the net where his sweet spot is. The first time he tries he makes it past Scott causing the team to cheer. "You want another go, McCall?" Dexter calls out. Dexter gets ready to shoot again and this time cheers erupt from the stands as Scott catches Dexter's ball.
"He seems like he's pretty good. Scott and your brother." Allison states as the three girls stare at him in awe. Jackson up next tries to outsmart Scott but fails. Zoe and Lydia both stand up cheering for him. Zoe gives a smirk to her brother before looking over to Stiles and giving him a little wave and a smile.
🐺
"So is family game night really a thing?" Dexter asks about spotting Allison standing alone at the end of lacrosse practice. Allison looks up, putting her phone away as Dexter walks towards her.
"I – I – yes?" She says causing Dexter to hum and stand next to her. "Are you sure? Cause parties are usually really fun." Allison crosses her arms as she looks at the boy. "Tell me how?" She asks him.
"Well," Dexter starts, "There's drinking. Talking to new people. Catching up with your friends." Dexter lists off noticing Allison not really intrigued. He smiles as he takes a few steps away from her, "There's also dancing." He says as he starts to badly dance. He starts to twist and turns around.
Allison laughs but quickly covers her mouth. "Sorry, sorry. That was so bad." Allison tells him. "If you come to the party you can see more of my wonderful dancing." Dexter says as he continues to dance.
"Dexter!"
Dexter looks back to see Zoe waiting for him at his car on her phone. "Think about it, Argent." He tells her, winking at her.
🐺
Friday afternoon Zoe Klein walks into the boys' locker room trying to find her brother. Ignoring the yells from the team she walks further in to see her brother and Jackson, both cornering Scott McCall against the lockers.
"What the hell is going on with you McCall?" Jackson slams Scott against the lockers "What's going on with me? Do you really want to know? So, would I! Because I can see, hear, and smell things that I shouldn't be able to see, hear and smell. I do things that should be impossible, I'm sleepwalking three miles into the middle of the woods and I'm pretty much convinced I'm totally out of my freaking mind!" With a loud sigh, Scott finishes his rambling
Jackson chuckles as he backs up from Scott. "You think you're funny, don't you McCall? I know you're hiding something. I'm gonna find out what it is. I don't care how long it takes." Dexter slams his hand against the locker, grabbing the back of Jackson's shirt "Come on." He says as he makes eye contact with Scott before turning around to see his sister. "Shit."
Zoe turns around to leave right before Dexter is able to grab her hand and stop her. "Are you that insecure about this team that you have to threaten people now?" Zoe yells at her brother pushing him away from her. Disgusted in what she just saw. Dexter tries to get his sister's attention as Zoe backs away, "Good luck at your scrimmage."
Walking out to the field and not seeing her friends, Zoe spots Stiles sitting on the bench. Straightening herself out she goes over and sits next to him. "You seem distressed. Nervous about your friend?" Stiles nods his head "I don't think Jackson and Dexter will hurt him that badly."
"Not them I'm worried about." Stiles mutters "Will I see you at the party tonight?" Stiles glances back at the girl before looking around making sure she isn't asking anyone else. Pointing at himself he asks her if she was talking to him. "I'll be there, I think- No I'll be there." Zoe gives the Stilinski boy a smile "I'll save you a dance."
Both stop to watch the field as Scott seems to have control of the game. Zoe stares in awe as she watches Scott do this amazing backflip while jumping over three guys before scoring a shot. Zoe stands up and cheers loudly for him with Stiles. Dexter and Jackson both look over to her as she smirks at them and continues cheering for Scott.
🐺
The time of the party comes as the Klein twins arrive. Guys and girls alike say their hello's as Zoe hands off her jacket to a random guy. Dexter shakes his head and scoffs at the way his sister is acting. Looking down at her outfit he grabs her arm and whispers to her, "Let me know when you want to leave."
Dexter hands Zoe a drink before he gets one for himself and walks away, away from everyone who tries to talk to him. Dexter could only admit to himself but he hated parties. He could blame it on his childhood but he hated not knowing how to handle a situation.
He knew that Lydia's room was a safe place to hide and be alone with his thoughts.
He avoids looking up at anyone who he may know for a certain reason and he starts to rush up the steps and over Lydia's balcony he sees something that made him want to run farther. Allison Argent walked into the party with Scott McCall following her.
Zoe heads out to the backyard to see if she can find someone actually wanting to have a conversation. She spots Lydia and Jackson making out against a wall and rolls her eyes. Her eyes wander around the backyard and she stops seeing Allison and Scott dancing in the yard just a little bit away from her, "Hey Zoe."
"Hey, you made it," Zoe turns around to see Stiles all dressed up. "You look nice." She said causing him to smile."Thanks, so do you." Zoe takes a sip to hide the blush creeping on her face. Putting down her drink, Zoe grabs Stiles' hands and pulls him over to where everyone is dancing. "I think I owe you a dance." Zoe wraps her arms around his neck as Stiles awkwardly places his hands on her back.
"You don't have to dance with me if you don't want to," Zoe whispers looking down at her feet before glancing up to his eyes. "No, no. I do-" Stiles clears his throat, "I'm just nervous and my hands are sweaty. I'm actually surprised you want to be seen with me-"
"Stiles." Zoe cuts him off before looking behind him and seeing Scott run off into the house. Stiles turns around to see his best friend just entering the house, "I got to go. Sorry." Stiles runs off leaving her standing by herself.
Allison comes up next to Zoe as the two girls watch their dates run away from them. "Woah. Where's the fire?" Dexter asks walking up to the girls, seeing Scott and Stiles run by him. Zoe huffed as she ran after Stiles leaving Dexter alone with Allison.
"Glad family night was canceled." He said walking up to her, "Wanna dance or follow Zoe?" He asks and Allison grabs his arm and pulls him to follow his sister.
The two catch up to Zoe as they end up ending up outside seeing two cars pull away. "What the heck?" Zoe mutters
"Allison," Derek Hale comes over to the three teenagers, "I'm a friend of Scott's. My name is Derek."
Zoe grabs Allison's hand as Derek comes closer to them. Dexter sees both girls cowering back as he stands in front of them, stopping Derek from coming closer. "Dude do you go to Beacon Hills or any high school? You don't look a teenager." Derek walks closer to Dexter, both boys sizing each other up. "Dexter and Zoe Klein?" Dexter nods, "So what if we are?"
"Allison, do you need a ride?" Zoe pulls Allison closer to her and whispers to her, "You don't have to go with him, we can take you home." Allison shakes her head before leaving Zoe's side. "It's okay, I'll be fine. Plus, Lydia would be mad if you both left early." Allison walks over to Derek and she promises Zoe to text her before they walk away.
"I don't feel right with this," Dexter says to Zoe as they both watch Allison get in Derek's car. "I know but how did he know our names?" Zoe asks her brother. Dexter slings his arm around her shoulder. He shrugs as they both walk back to the party "Forget about that, I want to know who that guy was you were dancing with." Zoe groans as the twins both walk back into the party.
🐺
At the end of the school day, Allison and Zoe catch up at the lockers. Allison catches Zoe up on what exactly happened to him. Apparently, Stiles went over to her house and explained to her that Scott wasn't feeling well.
"So, are you going to forgive Scott?" Allison sighs as she shuts her locker, "Should I?" Zoe shrugs as she leans against the lockers "You said he wasn't feeling well? He is supposed to have severe asthma so maybe something happened."
Allison nods understanding where she was coming from. "I also think you need to apologize to Dexter." Zoe hummed out. "Why?" Allison asked unsure. "You are the first girl to ditch him and ignore him for another boy."
"Ha Ha." Allison dryly laughed before walking away from Zoe and outside.
Zoe walks over and grabs the car keys from her brother. "Zoe!" Stiles yells over to the twins; Dexter gives his sister a look. Zoe shakes her head giving her brother a look to not bud into whatever this is.
"I'm sorry about Friday, Scott wasn't feeling good and I-" Zoe covers his mouth with her hand and nods. "I get it. He's your friend and I would do the same thing." Removing her hand, Stiles looks at her with amazement "Really?" Fiddling with the end of her jacket, Zoe nods.
"Just don't do it again if you have the chance," Zoe states before she starts to walk away. She stops halfway before turning around. "Because Dexter will have your head." She points back to her brother watching them. Stiles looks back as Dexter gives him a glare and puts on his lacrosse helmet.
