This one is different, more determined.
It's broken through the trees and is now heading straight for me, taking a more direct route than the giants.
I'm trapped between the approaching giants and this new, relentless threat.
I glance over the edge of the cliff, knowing that I have nowhere to run. Muir's distant form is my only hope, and I pray that he's on his way back to pick me up before it's too late.
Standing there on the edge of the cliff, panic grips me like a vice. The relentless approach of the giant beasts from one side and the thunderous footsteps of the charging dinosaur from the other make me feel like I'm trapped in a nightmare.
My gaze darts to the distant silhouette of Muir in the sky. He's flying back towards me, and I can see the determination in his graceful movements. I know he's doing everything he can to reach me in time, but the seconds tick away like hours.
The ground beneath me rumbles with each step the charging dinosaur takes. Its enormous form emerges from the tree line, and I can now see the full extent of the danger I'm in. It's a massive creature, its scales glistening in the soft light of dawn.
I take a step back, my heart pounding in my chest, and that's when it happens. A loose rock gives way beneath my foot, and I feel myself teetering on the edge of the cliff. Fear surges through me as I struggle to regain my balance, but it's too late.
The world seems to slow down as I start to fall backward, my arms flailing in a futile attempt to grab onto something. I catch a glimpse of the dizzying height below me, and terror grips me like a vise. The ground is so far away, and the fall would surely be my end.
Just as I'm about to lose all hope, I hear Muir's voice. It's a desperate shout, filled with worry and urgency. "Hold on, Julie! I'm coming for you!"
I look up, and there he is, swooping down from the sky like a majestic eagle. His powerful wings beat against the air, and he reaches out with his clawed feet, aiming to snatch me from the precipice.
I reach out towards him, my fingers stretching as far as they can. It's a race against time, and for a moment, it feels like I'm suspended in mid-air. The world holds its breath.
And then, just as I'm about to slip from the edge, Muir's talons close around my outstretched hand, and he pulls me up with a mighty effort. I gasp for breath, my heart still racing, but I'm safe in his grasp.
Muir's eyes meet mine, filled with relief and something more profound. "I've got you," he says, his voice soft but filled with emotion.
I can only nod, too overwhelmed to speak.
As I dangle from Muir's grasp, my heart slowly regains its normal rhythm. I can't help but steal a glance at the giants and the charging dinosaur below. Something has changed. The scent of the shampoo I flung earlier seems to have had an effect. The giants, while curious, have realized that it's not the scent of the stolen egg they seek. Their attention wavers, and they begin to lose interest in the shampoo-soaked rock.
A sense of relief washes over me as I realize that I might have bought us some time. The giants are no longer fixated on me, and the charging dinosaur slows its approach. It's as if they've been momentarily distracted, giving us a chance to regroup.
Muir's grip tightens as he carries us away from the cliff's edge. We ascend higher into the sky, and I'm filled with gratitude and awe. Muir's quick thinking and bravery saved me once again.
"Thank you," I say, my voice sincere.
Muir glances at me, his eyes softening. "It's my responsibility," he explains, his tone sincere and tinged with regret.
"I know I mistook you for Parker's female, and that was my mistake. I put you in danger by taking you away from your mates."
