Dick and Jon shared a horrified look as they stared at the rest of their table. Both forgetting just how hungry a super can get and how much their bottomless pits of a stomach could take. They've all agreed on having starters, mains and dessert but none but Dick and Jon had stuck with a single plate for each one.
Jon and Dick was left, finishing their single plates of starts and than mains while watching the rest of the family eat plate after plate. The poor waiters were coming back and hurrying to collect all the dirty plates while also hurrying to bring out the freshly cooked meals ordered by them.
"I think I'm getting a tummy ache from just watching them eat so much" Robin quietly confessed as he moved to hold his stomach, frowning as he was starting to get sickly from the mere sight of food his family consumed without a problem.
"I've learnt to be the last one to sit down so then we'd all be finishing our meals at the same time. Even when they've used their super speed to gain seconds and thirds" Nightwing replied slowly as he glanced round to the rest of the table of supers that were still eating without any signs of being full.
"Take me to the bathroom before I become too sickly for dessert" Robin asked, desperate to escape the table before he actual did throw up out on emotional compassion to their own stomachs.
"Of course, baby blue" Nightwing smiled back, slipping out of his chair.
Soon enough the two snuck away from the table, leaving the rest to finish as many mains as they desired to eat from the menu. Only sending a carefree smile towards Kal when he lifted his gaze once the two started moving away from he table. But a smile and a nod in the toilets direction was enough for him to return to his current main dish placed before him.
Job happily took hold of Dick's hand, keeping them joint together as they moved around other tables carefully and headed towards the bathroom. Eyes bore into them from all direction, everyone staring in awe or fright towards the latest aliens on earth.
"When did you come up with the nicknames?" Robin innocently asked, gripping their joint hands a little tighter as he wasn't sure if he'd be hitting a sore spot.
"When I joined the family. Nicknames are special in my family. They're a sign of love" Nightwing anwsered softly, squeezing their joint hands back in a reassuring gesture. Showing there was nothing wrong with the question asked.
"Pa is big blue. Uncle SB is sups. Uncle Superboy is little blue. Cousin Supergirl is speedy red. Cousin Flamebird is baby red. It's mostly linked to our family colours" Robin mumbled back as he tilted his head to the side, thinking over all the given nicknames to them. Taking notice they were all linked to their family colours, something important to them.
"You know over my mother's name for me. It was filled with love and adoration as she knew I'd be able to fly great heights one day. I spoke with your Pa and my brothers as they were so very young already but they were old enough to refuse a nickname to them" Nightwing gently muttered back as he pulled them to a stop outside the bathroom door, kneeling before the younger boy and taking hold of both his hands. His eyes warm as he told his nephew the story over how they had all accepted the nicknames.
"And they never refused" Robin whispered back, smiling back at his uncle. He was really glad his Pa and his two other uncles had agreed to the nicknames. He liked being loved through a nickname and feeling some odd tradition created by the Grayson's the day their son was born.
"They wanted it to be linked to the El's name. El's family colours are blue and red, it's why we wear them both or at least one of them. It respects our family name. SB wanted a nickname linked to the family and so, I chose the colours. I offered up to bless them with wings as my parents had given me but they were already blessed with flight from birth alone and didn't have as much as an attachment as I did. Hence, I stuck with colours. I only call Supergirl speedy red due to always trying rush about in her teen years" Nightwing explained with a sweet smile, standing back up and twirling his giggling nephew.
"That's why you've offered up the name to me. Because I always chose to cling to you and loved your family stories" Robin perked up, jumping on the spot before clinging to his uncle's arms.
"Hmm. With you being half human, your powers took much longer to awaken and you were a flightless bird as I once were. Saw it fitting that I pass the nickname on to you once you learnt to fly" Nightwing admitted his thought pattern at the time as he offered his old nickname, knowing that Jon had felt just as he did when he first came to Krypton. Jon was a late bloom, much like Kon, but Jon was more due to being half human and felt left out. He was unable to fly until he could. Robin felt fitting to pass on to him.
"Don't let the others hear but you're my favourite. You don't try to baby me as much" Robin whispered with a sweet and innocent smile as he clung to his uncle.
"I just know what it feels like to be treated as weak by those who stand stronger" Nightwing smiled back as he pushed open the bathroom door, taking them inside.
Nothing overly big happened for the rest of he night. Another hour passed at the restaurant and they were all finished their desserts for the night. Nightwing and Robin being the other two to leave the restaurant without sickly full stomachs.
Nightwing and Robin giggling at them as they both fly/jump over Gotham nights. Teasing the rest of the family and dodging a few playful hits and kicks sent in their direction. All of them slowing as they noticed a couple of the Bat's waiting for them ahead.
Superman and Nightwing staying behind, the two chosen leaders during the peace treaty talks. Both watching the rest of the family carry on heading home without them before. Neither moving from the roof they had stopped on, not surprised when Batman stepped out from the shadows to speak with them both.
Nothing more overly important happened that night and the two brothers returned to the penthouse. Leaving for bed and falling asleep without anymore heavy burdens given. Once morning came, Dick found he slept in more later than the rest of his family.
Stepping out inside the longue space and noticing Kal sitting at a kitchen counter, sipping away at some earth's coffee. Smiling towards his brother he happily made his way over, noticing a mug of just made tea waiting for him to drink.
"Thought we could spend today together. Kon and Connor are spending the day together as brothers. Jon wanted to join Biz and Kara. It's been some years since the two of us spent a day together" Kal smiled as he stood up to start making his brother some toast for breakfast.
"Hmm, I'd like that" Dick hummed back, looking forward to spending a day with his big brother.
Once Dick had eaten his mostly burn toast with a very apologetic Kal staring at him the whole time. They left. Spending most of the morning doing a little window shopping and just randomly walking around without anything.
Both grabbing a drink and finding an concrete plant box built outside a closed down shop, the plants inside dead and now mostly filled with garbage thrown into it. The plant pot box was starting to smell but the two still chose to sit on the edge for now.
The only benches they've see was in public parks but with how often the news mention Poison Ivy taking over them, they didn't fancy trying to sit at once of those benches. It also gave Kal a chance to finally talk privately with his brother over a matter that's been bothering him since they arrived on earth and found that earth might not be ready for a friendship and peace treaty with Krypton.
"Will you return with us if we're forced to leave?" Kal quietly asked, watching the civilians all hurry past and stay busy with their own lives. Taking notice over families or friends gathered together while other's walked alone.
"You're my family. My HOME" Dick argued back, raising his voice without realizing when he turned to his brother with wide and emotional eyes.
"This was once your home, Richard. The last flying Grayson. Maybe it's time for him to show his talents again" Kal calmly replied with a brotherly smile, ruffling the youngest growing hair to help comfort him. He didn't want to lose his brother but he knew he had to give him the chance to spread his wings too.
"This was once your home too. A long time ago, even if it was for a short period of time" Dick reminded the older, lightly slapping his hand away and shuffling closer to lean against his side.
"I don't want to make you feel trapped with us out of loyalty. As you keep on trying to remind me, you're a grown man now. You can make your own choices. I want you to be happy. If earth makes you happy than I'll look the other way if Nightwing disappears from the EL's. You'll be missed and forever loved. But I'll support your decision to stay" Kal explained his reasoning out loud, not wanting the other to feel as if he was no longer wanted but show he was mentioning this out of love instead. Wrapping one arm around his little brother and keeping him safely tucked to his side as if he was a child all over again and not the grown man he was now.
"I miss my old home. My old life. But I will never allow myself to lose a family again. I won't be happy if I'm left alone. I'll leave earth if our friendship is refused. I'll miss my first home but I won't regret leaving a second time" Dick muttered back, his voice soft but small as he loved his old life but he gained a new one with them. He'd never get over the heartbreak if he lost a second family.
"Very well. I just wanted to give you a chance to decided your own future" Kal smiled back, feeling a bit comforted himself as he hugged his brother and knowing that everything was going to be okay.
"Thank you. I just don't wish to lose another home, not again" Dick mumbled back, closing his eyes and taking a shaky breath now that he knew he wasn't being forced to stay on earth.
"You won't ever lose us. We're your family for however long you want us" Kal promised without any hesitation, knowing he'd never leave his brother behind.
The two stayed sitting there, calming down from the emotional conversation before happily moving to happier conversation topics. Talking over their stay on earth so far and how the rest of the family was dealing with the planet.
Both distracted in their own little world that a certain younger brother didn't notice a familiar looking lock of white hair until he had moved past them and was almost out of earshot.
Dick perked up, slipping from the plant box and hurrying over towards the man, overjoyed at seeing him again and maybe getting his brother to meet the one he's mentioned last night. He knew it was early for him to assume anything but he wanted his brother to help understand the unknown he was dealing with over Jason.
"Jay!" Dick called out, a bright and charming smile filling his lips as he hurried towards the man who had stopped and started to look around.
"Dick. And no, I wasn't calling it as your name. Drop the nickname, Dick" Jason sighed as he crossed his arms over his chest, seeming to relax a little more now that he noticed who was calling him.
"It's a habit for me to give out nicknames" Dick admitted with a sheepish grin, running a hand through his hair and feeling a bit embarrassed.
"Guess I'll just have to get use to such an annoying habit" Jason replied, acting as if he was just given a terrible punishment but the smirk pulling on his lips proving he didn't mind so much.
"Guess so" Dick smiled back sweetly, feeling a bit giggly that Jason would be willing to put up with him in the future.
The two fools just staring at the other, getting lost in each other's eyes and falling into their own little world without noticing it. Both rather happy to just stand close together and share a bubble. A bubble that popped when someone had pushed past Dick rather harshly and earned him to stumble forward into Jason.
Jason glaring towards the guy who just carried on walking without ever looking back. A normal day in Gotham after all.
"Are you um .. here for any reason? Or your found yourself with some free time to kill because I can show you some of those quiet and peaceful sights hidden in Gotham. If you're free?" Jason awkwardly mumbled out his words, scratching the back of his head as he tried to ask the other out.
"That sounds really nice but I'm actual here with my brother... He's ditched me" Dick started to say with an apologetic smile before full dread and a frown filled his lips when he noticed Kal wasn't sitting at the plant box anymore and had clearly ditched him.
"Biz? I thought he'd be at the pub again" Jason replied a bit surprised, looking round for the big guy to send a greeting nod towards.
"He is. I was out with my older brother. He was right there. We just had an heart to heart. I can't believe he's ditched me" Dick explained with a frown, feeling a bit frustrated over how easily he was ditched. He knew he ran off first but he was going to show Kal who the guy was that made him in such a good mood yesterday.
"That's siblings for you. We care deep down but we wouldn't be seen dead with you in public" Jason grinned back, shrugging over the whole thing and knowing this was pretty normal.
"Speaking from experience?" Dick asked amused as he turned back to Jason, giving him his full attention again.
"Something like that. Plus I'm part of the Red Hood's gang, it's how everyone else acts around each other whenever we're not working" Jason anwsered with a sly smirk.
"Do you have any free time tomorrow?" Dick asked, his tone more hopeful than he wanted it to sound.
"Anything to help me ditch hanging out at the pub" Jason replied with a nod, wondering where this was going.
"Think you can show me those Gotham sights? I was hoping to spend today with my brother and now I've got to hunt him down again" Dick asked with a shy smile, wanting to go out with Jason but wanting to spend today with his brother some more.
"Phone me when you're ready tomorrow and we can agree to meet up somewhere. Maybe have hot dogs for lunch. You're treat since I am being nice enough to go out of my way to give you the best grand tour of Gotham" Jason grinned back, giving a few nods to show he was okay with tomorrow and silently looking forward to it.
"Sounds fair. See you tomorrow, Jaybird. Looking forward to it" Dick smiled back, bouncing on the spot and showing his excitement for it.
Jason gave a good nature eyeroll before waving at the other and both of them leaving in their own direction. Dick hurrying around to try and spot his big brother anywhere before using his watch to follow the tracker. Grumbling under his breath and knowing Kal heard every word of it since he stood rather amused once he did finally catch up to him.
The two carried on with their day out, Kal asking over Jason and Dick passing on what he did know or felt safe to tell since he didn't want to expose any raw topics that Jason did mention. Kal seemed to like Jason, happily bragging over how Jason's heartbeat changed when focusing on his brother and how it was obvious the interest was both ways.
He saw the spark, something Dick called bull on, but Kal just bragged over it being a super power that he had and he clearly saw the spark between them as they talked. That he had purposely left to encourage him to spend the rest of the day with Jason instead. Kal thought he was being a good wingman in the moment.
Dick felt even more alive with Jason the next day. Knowing his big brother seemed to like Jason and was cheering their relationship on from the side lines. Dick, deciding it's a bit too soon to mention him to his family, didn't bring up the topic that his brother was already planning their wedding.
But Jason felt so free and weightless around Jason. His mood just kept on brightening around him and he loved every second. Even when a few of Jason flaws shown, Dick just showed his own flaws back and they both stayed wanting to spent time with each other.
They stayed stray from the whole alien and vigilante topics, neither wanting to get into that type of heated arguments or debates. Instead they tried to show off to each other and walking it off whenever they embarrassed themselves badly enough.
Dick felt like he was flying, a whole new type of flying and he loved it.
Neither even noticed how much time had passed until Biz had appeared and mentioned just how late in the afternoon it was getting. Even Jason was shaken up by it being 8pm already and apologizing, having to return home before his shift. Of course, neither left without the promise of trying to text or call in the morning to set up anther meeting time.
It wasn't a date.
It was too early for a date, they'd only known each for two days.
But Biz heard all of Dick's giggly and happy rants over his day with Jason as they made their way back to the hotel's penthouse. Biz just mostly nodding along and seeming excited that he might be able to have one of his new friend's around the family more often.
Everything seemed to just be perfect.
And that's when everything started to go wrong.
Dick met with Jason again the next day, both meeting for lunch and Jason already warning he couldn't stay out long. Dick didn't mind. He still had a blast with Jason and Jason seemed to be looking forward to their planned walk the next day.
But as Dick headed back home, he found Zor in tears. Bab's had suddenly grown distant and asked for her to not bother her during work. Zor agreed, thinking that maybe Bab's boss had complained over a none worker hanging around the library computers. But Bab's didn't want to meet up after work or seem interested in anything Zor offered up.
Dick spent the rest of the day comforting and supporting his cousin.
The next day after Dick was heading home from his walk with Jason. A walk that lasted three hours as neither wanted to actual leave but couldn't come up with anything else to do. Jason's phone ringing earned him having to leave first, seeming disappointed as he left.
Dick found Connor standing depressed in the middle of a street. Earning Dick to check him over and soon learnt that the "friend" that he nor the rest of the family were to known about had suddenly called Connor a stalker. Connor was forced to leave from the photograph shop otherwise the cops would have been called after the other teen, one Connor's been hanging around with, complained to the shop owner he was being followed and bullied.
Dick knew Connor didn't bully the guy. His baby brother might be a bit pushy and loud but he respected when others needed their space or wasn't interested.
Dick found himself comforting another hurt and heartbroken family member for the rest of the day.
Ending him being a little bit more brutal towards a few robbers in the middle of the night.
The day after that, Dick knew that his family must have the worse luck in the universe.
He ended up having to ditch Jason as they hanged out all day after finding Kon running towards him, looking panicked. Ends up that the quiet space that Kon had been hiding away at during the day. A nice green area with a few benches and wild life, the bushes blocked out the rest of the city's and leaving it a peaceful and beautiful spot. Had ended up being owned by some Wayne name who had took to Kon spending everyday at the quiet and mostly hidden spot as trespassing and police officers had shown up.
"I didn't even know it was private property. No signs were put up. I thought it was a public park since it had benches" Kon admitted, looking both frustrated and as a kicked puppy as he used both hands to grip at his head.
"No one talked to you about it being private property before the cops showed up?" Dick asked with a worried frown, not liking how this Wayne guy jumped straight towards the police. Things could have been settled more peacefully if someone simply spoke with Kon first.
"No. Barely anyone else ever came. The green area is tucked behind four buildings. You have to actual walk there to find it. The few people that went there just sat down and took a walk themselves. No one ever seemed to mind I was there before and not everyone was dressed the same either. Anyone just showed up and used the space. I thought it was public" Kon rambled back as he started to pace, his hands turning into shaking fists as he wanted to hit something but knew that he couldn't right now. Trying his best to control his bad temper.
"When did the police show up?" Jason asked, curious over the whole event and seeming to be thinking over it all too.
"An hour ago. I found a free bench and just relaxed there. An hour afterwards the police officers showed up and told me I was trespassing and needed to leave. A few others started to leave with me, overhearing them, but they got told it was okay for them to stay" Kon anwsered with a tired sigh, moving to cross his arms over his chest just to lower his chances of throwing a punch.
"You were targeted?" Dick asked, shocked and horrified over the news.
"Seems so" Kon admitted with a weak nod. He noticed how surprised other people were when the cops had arrived and their confused expressions when he was the only one forced to leave. He was clearly targeted it.
"I'm sorry, Jay. But I need to help deal with this" Dick apologized as he turned to the younger man, hating that he's having to cut their day out short.
"Go. We can just rebook later. I'll try asking the gang if they've heard anything similar hearing too" Jason replied, looking completely serious and okay with Dick putting his family first. Understanding this was serious and needed to be looked into.
"Thank you" Dick smiled back, grabbing hold of Jason's hand and giving it a small squeeze.
Kon took pity on the younger man who's face and neck suddenly started to turn red from his brother holding his hand. Pretending not to notice the guy's blush and pull his brother away before his date overheats.
The two were soon hurrying back to the hotel, ready to look into this matter a bit more deeper and figure out what was happening. A bad feeling forming in Dick's stomach as he knew three incidents were getting suspicious.
He knew they were all different incidents but three members of his family had been hurt and unknowingly attacked now. All by different and suddenly changed behaviours than before. Someone was meddling and Dick didn't like it one bit.
Kal didn't want to talk about any of this once he got home. Instead they all acted as if everything had been perfectly normal and they were one large happy family. They all ate together, talked over their days, watched a couple of movies before deciding to turn in early. All been taking to having naps before they head out into the night.
Dick stayed awake, knowing this was the right time to speak with his brother over all this trouble while keeping the rest of the family out of it. He didn't want to course a war or panic. But he knew he needed to talk to Kal about this and something needed to be done.
"Someone's targeting us" Dick stated, knowing it sounded like overkill but something in his gut was telling him he was right on this.
"Don't overthink three separate incidents" Kal sighed heavily, shaking his head from where he lent against the glass balcony doors, stopping his family from seeing out and trying to spy on them.
"None of you wears masks. Nor do some of you try to wear a disguise. It's easy to find you a public setting if given time" Dick mumbled back as he sat himself on the wall railing around the balcony edge. Knowing he was onto something.
"If we assume that someone's attacking us than it'd only put everyone else on high alert. We can't risk being seen as hostile. We'd been seen as the monsters if we ever snap. Not the one's who forced us to snap" Kal calmly replied with a pleading look towards his brother to not overly meddle with this. They were all being watched, everyone holding their breaths and waiting for them to act bad or make a mistake so it'd be used against them.
"I know. I'm not asking to start a war. I'm asking that we ask the bat's for help. Or we just offer to leave" Dick offered up his gameplan on how to deal with this. Completely serious over just leaving if nothing can be done to help them.
"Richard.." Kal breathed out, shocked over the other wanting to leave so easily and give up on a truce's with his home planet.
"Three out of seven are already emotionally hurt. What do we do if Biz act's out because someone is trying to hurt him. What do we do if someone starts bullying Jon next. I've got harder skin from the insults thrown at me during my circus days. But you guys don't. You've always been seen as the good and kind people. Not as people worth less than dirt on a person's shoe. Someone is going to break if we allow this emotional abuse carry on" Dick rambled back as he jumped down and started to pace the balcony area, needing to keep his body moving as he blurted it all out. He was use to being hated or cursed at as a child, the rest weren't use to being seen as the bad guys. They'd take the insults and hated more than Dick would have.
"If we offer to leave, you'll lose Jason. Any chance you've ever had, any future with him and any other growing feelings will be lost. You'll be leaving him behind, unable to tell him why you just disappeared like that. You'll be breaking your own heart" Kal spoke up, stepping forward and placing his hands on his brother's shoulders to keep him still as he warned over him the aftereffects of them suddenly leaving like that. He knew Jason was growing more important to Dick with each visit the two had.
"I'll talk to Jason myself. I'll be the bad guy and end things with him. Leave him more angry and bitter towards our memories than longing and heartbroken by them. I'm the best actor in this family" Dick announced, looking determined and ready to give up his own chance of love for the shake of his families safety and happiness.
"Dic-" Kal started to argue back before being cut off.
"No. We need to talk to the bats. If they won't help solve this than we'll leave and give up on a friendship with earth. I'm not going to stand by and watch my family get attacked. If we're so unwelcomed, we'll leave" Dick spoke up, voice firm and serious as he wasn't just going to stand back and risk another family member getting hurt.
"Okay. We'll talk to the bat's. Just the two of us" Kal promised, knowing he wasn't going to be able to stop his brother.
Dick just hugged his brother, knowing he was being stubborn and unfair. But he wasn't going to let his siblings lives be meddled with and left abused. The bat's would either help them or they were leaving. He didn't need earth anymore.
He hated the thought of losing Jason but it's not like he could just ask Jason to come with him. He's been lying to the guy over who his family really was. He knew Jason hated lairs but agreed that people deserved to have their own secrets.
Dick knew some of Jason's dislikes in a person's personality. It was easer to anger Jason than to hurt him. Dick still held some of his acting charm and would leave Jason in a fit of rage, disgust and bitterness the next time they see. He'd never forgive himself for breaking Jason's heart.
He knew he was being a coward by willingly becoming the bad guy between them but it was the only way that Dick knew how to do it for both their shakes.
Only three of them left the hotel. Superman, Nightwing and Robin. The rest still weren't in a jolly mood and Kon didn't want a risk having the cops called again somehow. Biz was left behind since he was the easily target to wind up and get seen as a threat.
This chat was going to be more gut feeling instead of any real evidence.
Something that seemed to work much better for Nightwing when he took in the bat's reactions and noticed their body language subtly. They knew. Superman had mentioned he had had a feeling that the bat's would keep an eye on them 24/7 and he was right. None of the bat's confessed to that but Nightwing saw that they knew over these events.
They were the course of them.
None confessed to it but Nightwing's gut knew when none of them seemed to react correctly or surprised over it. They seemed to be more victorious when Superman mentioned leaving the plan as if their own plans had ended in successful.
Everything was making sense, Batman was never going to allow a friendship to be granted on earth. He was too protective of the damn planet. They were placed in Gotham during their visit just because he'd be close by and in charge of them. It'd be his word, a respected and veteran hero, against their own word, alien strangers who held no friends on the planet.
It was well played.
"We're leaving" Nightwing announced as he turned towards his brother and nephew, knowing they weren't going to win this.
"Nigh-" Superman started to say, startled his brother just cut in like that and was soon cut off.
"It's them. They've caused this. They were never going to accept our offer of friendship or the peace treaty between our two planets. He wasn't even willing to give us a chance. We're nothing more than a threat to them. He's scared. Untrusting. I bet he used his own plans to force the rest to help because he couldn't reply on their plans or ideas. He's a coward" Nightwing accused with a hiss as he turned his head to look at Batman, Batlad and Batgirl. His tone dropping to disappointed, taking notice that Batgirl and Batlad flinched at the tone, use to hating disappointed tones used.
"Nightwing" Superman frowned, glancing between the bats and his brother, not wanting a fight to break out from this.
"It's true. He doesn't trust anyone so he makes them become the enemy instead. He's nothing more than a scared little boy" Nightwing scoffed back as he placed a hand on his hip, leaning it out while staring straight at Batman and knowing he's nothing more than a scared child trapped in a man's body.
"We're not meant to be mean towards those who are scared. It's okay to be scared. You're not weak if you feel fear. You're strong because you learn to live with it. You told me so, Uncle" Robin spoke up with a small sadden frown, not wanting his uncle to be a meanie towards those who were scared.
"This man is weak. He's not learnt to live with his fear. He's learn to use it to get his way. We were never your enemy, Batman. Not once. We just wanted to stand as friends. To be willing to help one another out when the time comes for it. You may see us as monsters but humans are the REAL monsters. They lie, cheat and kill from their greed and selfishness. Playing dark games behind a person's back instead of being brave enough to face them, face to face" Nightwing dryly explained as he placed his free arm around his nephew, pulling him into a reassuring hug as he explained over what type of planet they were dealing with.
"Leave" Batman growled out, stepping forward and trying to intimidate them.
"You disgust me. You're no hero. Just another human using his power for his own gain. You're sidekicks are mere puppets for your use" Nightwing snapped back, glaring towards the bat and showing he wasn't afraid of him.
"Damn. He's got you dead on there, old man" Red Hood robotic voice echoed through the air before he was doing a hero landing onto the roof, gaining all eyes to land on him.
"Hood" Nightwing greeted, finding the red hood was the only one he was able to handle seeing right now.
"I'd hate to take you down if you decide to attack my family. Even if this bastard of a bat attacked your family first. Only I can be the one to attack any of them" Red Hood replied as he walked closer, keeping between the two groups but making it clear he'd fight if he needed too.
"I won't fall to his level. He's happy to hurt other's but can't handle being hurt back. He's not worth taking any form of revenge on. It's sad, they've already warned me to never meet your heroes in real life. You've ruined the Dark Knight for me" Nightwing mumbled back with a frown, rolling his eyes as he didn't want anything more to do with the batclan.
Superman stepped closer, placing a comforting hand on his son's back before placing a grounding and on his brother's shoulder. Heard enough and seeing how the other bat's react to the accusing to know his brother was right over this.
"'Wing, let's go home. I'll speak with the others once we get back" Superman softly said, pulling his brother's attention on him and not t he bats.
"Okay" Nightwing whispered back, ducking his head like a scolded boy.
"We'll be gone by lunch tomorrow. No truce will be held between our two planets. It's a shame that we couldn't have left as friend's. I find planets with friend's last longer as they have someone to point out when one's taken a destructive route" Superman promised as he turned his head to look towards Batman, truly sorry that they couldn't have left as friends between their two planets.
"Say you're farewells, baby blue" Nightwing
"G-Goodbye" Robin mumbled back with a small wave and a very weak friendly smile.
The three were soon taking a running leap towards the rooftop before jumping off and flying away. Nightwing using his hover boots to give him a false sense of flight before others. Superman keeping an ear to make sure he was doing okay and ready to catch him if the boots act up or stop working completely.
They soon land back into the hotel, Kal going to wake the others and pass on the bad news to them all. Promising they'd all have a couple hours to wonder the city one final time and buy anything they'd like to bring to their home planet with.
Dick took Jon to bed, tucking the boy in and apologizing to him for seeming so rude and mean towards the bats. Explaining how the bat's weren't really friends as they hoped they'd be and comforting the upset boy over it all. He promised to bring the boy to visit his blood parents grave, having trying to kept the boy away until now but this would be his final chance to see them.
And Dick didn't really care if the bat's learnt over his birth secret.
If they had judged a person before giving them a chance, than he didn't care if they sudden try to play nice or panic over finding him to be human all along. His parents were kind, good and honest people. He'd never want them to be related to the rest of mankind after seeing how ugly human beings could be.
Morning came and everyone's mood was low. They had packed up their bags and decided they'd walk around with them before meeting where their shuttle ship sat parked waiting for them. They'd like the idea of leaving their baggage in the hotel and returning for them but had a feeling the bat's might cancel their booking or take a snoop around to check if they'd try to steal anything for their own self gain or something stupid. The bat's were overly paranoid.
Dick didn't expect the other's to join him and Jon but they did. None felt going alone after the single attacks they've faced this week already. As a group they'd all be able to defend one another and have each other's backs.
Plus, most of them wanted to meet the famous Flying Grayson's too.
"Dya this is my family. Kal, Zor, Kon, Biz, Connor and Jon. El's this is Mary Grayson, my Dya. She was the one to first nickname me as Robin. Dat these are my brothers, cousins and nephew. Kal rescued me from the juvenile detention centre. He gave me a second home and a second chance to have a family. All of them blessed me with a second chance at having a family. Everyone, this is my Dat, John Grayson. He taught me to fly as soon as I started walking on my hands instead of learning to crawl" Dick introduced his parents to his second family with a warm but sad smile, happy for them all to meeting but wishing that it wasn't done in a graveyard.
All the EL's family members took a couple minutes each to privately talk towards the shared grave. Passing on their own gratitude or apologizes to the Flying Grayson's. Passing on some fond and funny stories over how Dick's been raised and promising to look out for him.
Kal hovering a little longer as he asked for the married couple's blessing in caring and raising their son without them. Promising to always stand by him and make sure he won't ever be left behind and alone again. Pleading that they'd forgive him for loving their son as his own blood brother and making him apart of the EL's as much as he was a Grayson.
"We should have looked into getting another poster from the circus" Zor commented with a small frown, staring down at the Grayson's grave and wishing they got some more posters for Dick to keep to remember them better.
"I've already got two posters. Kal was smart enough to grab them from Haly before he saved me from the youth jail. My parents never took photos. The posters were the only thing that had their faces on them" Dick smiled back, shaking his head as he knew he didn't need anymore. The two posters Kal had grabbed for him before they left earth was all he needed. One showed his family of three and the other showed the rest of the circus, that's all he needed to remember them as they were.
"Those posters are pretty cool" Kon grinned back, he remembered sulking in the doorway as he watched Kal and Dick carefully place them in a frame and hang them in Dick's new bedroom.
"They make your parents look like real badasses. Flying without a net. Kal use to keep me on a safety string for all of my toddlers years to make sure I didn't fly too high on my own" Connor excitedly added as he always admired how the Grayson's were drawn to fly in the poster, the carefree look and graze they held. Frowning and sending a playful glare towards his oldest brother as he remembered his safety string days when he powers first awaken.
"I thought Pa kidnapped you?" Jon replied with a confused head tilt.
"Not out loud, Jon. It was different times when I picked Richard up. I didn't hold any papers needed to foster a child. I did look into legally getting him out of that place but it would have taken years" Kal blurted back in a panic, covering his son's mouth as he wasn't sure if anyone was listening in to their conversation and didn't want to risk being arrested on their final day. He did technically kidnapped Dick but he gained the child's permission and saw how badly treated the boy was before he did steal him away.
"It wasn't a nice place. I was beaten up, starved, insulted, cursed and treated real bad. I would have lost the light in my eyes if I had stayed too long. Kal even found me on the roof once, I had snuck out and wanted to escape. But I didn't have anywhere to go even if I did. It's when he offered to take me in. Even exposed himself as an alien so I understood any hardships that came with the new life" Dick explained with a pained smile, his eyes gazed over as he remembered the centre and how he was treated while he was still in grieving over his parents deaths.
"And Dick agreed. Practically couldn't get him off me once he jumped on me and stubbornly clung to me like a life form. We left the next day. A single bad holding both our belongings that we've gain on earth and left with a new-born you. Never looked back since" Kal smiled happily, fondness in his eyes as he wrapped an around around Dick's shoulders and gave a squeeze.
"No home with us. Good you leave. All unhappy with you here" Biz spoke up, pulling Dick into a crushing hug and glad that he had came to Krypton. None of them liked the thought of a life without their brother, cousin and uncle.
"Yeah, I'm happy with all of you too" Dick confessed with a warm smile, happy tears prickling at the corner of his eyes.
"Let's go home. I think we've done all we can for this planet" Kal smiled down to his human brother, knowing it was time for them to truly head home now.
"I'll meet up with you at the ship. There's one last thing I need to settle here, privately" Dick smiled back, taking a step away from them all as he knew he still had to see Jason one last time and act the bad guy.
"Just call if you find yourself in any trouble" Kal replied, a knowing but sad look in his eyes as he didn't agree with the route his brother choice to deal with Jason. He knew both deserved a better ending than hated.
"Don't be late" Zor smiled back, taking hold of Biz's hand as she started leading him away first, assuming her other cousin just wanted a private words with his parents grave to say his final farewell to them.
"Let me know if anyone needs a beating for messing with you" Kon called out over his shoulder as he started taking his leave, ready to deal with anyone who might try picking a fight with Biz as they walk along.
"Hello" Biz mumbled back, waving with his free hand.
"Grab some donuts on the way to the ship" Connor yelled out with a smirk and holding Jon's hand, the two youngest buddying up.
"And more snacks" Jon added excitedly.
"I'll try my best" Dick chuckled back, waving at them all as they start heading towards the direction of the landed shuttle.
"Tell him the truth. We won't be here tomorrow to face any backlash" Kal advised his brother as he ruffled his hair before running off to catch up with the rest.
Dick smiled, watching them all go before he felt his smile drop and a frown take over. Lowering his head, he shoved his hands in his coat pocket and wished his parents would forgive him for playing the villain soon.
Pulling his earth phone out, he phoned Jason and started heading to where the other man was waiting for him. Assuming they were still going to be hanging out all afternoon and nothing was wrong.
Dick shoved his pocket back into his pocket. Planning to keep the phone even if it's just to reread a few of the odd and little handful of texts Jason did send him in reply to his many texts he sent him.
Lifting his head, noticing the dark and gloomy clouds filling Gotham's sky like always. Wondering if the skies will weep for him just as his Dya always thought that rain was the angels tears for the souls below.
Reaching Jason didn't take as long as Dick prayed for it to be. He didn't rush over at first, just stepped to the side and watched the man he could have held a future with if given a better choice. Biting his lip as he didn't want to lose this man but knew it'd be wrong to just leave and disappear without warning.
Getting Jason to hate him with make leaving earth easier, knowing he purposely ruined his relationship instead of leaving the guy heartbroken and unable to give the real reason on why. Kal might advise that honesty is best but Jason and he never talked over the world's politics like that.
If Dick confessed to being part of the EL life than he'd learn over Jason's thoughts on them. If he'd still be willing to give Dick a chance and have them both knowing that they could never have that chance anymore. To leave with Jason hating him before of a blood that didn't even flow through his veins.
It was easier for Jason to stay in the dark, to just hate Dick before Dick made him hate him.
"Dickiebird! What ya doing standing around like some abandoned puppy?" Jason called out with a grin, a very handsome grin, after spotting him.
Dick took a deep and slow breath, controlling his aching heart and letting a new identity take over. He closed his eyes, his true and honest feelings shoved deep within his soul as he let his chosen act taken control.
As his eyes opened again, finding the other jogging over to meet with him, the last flying Grayson did one last show on earth.
A brutal and ruthless show that left him being cursed and threatened.
Dick awoken, watching Jason's retreating back as the other man stormed away.
"I'm sorry" Dick whispered to none who'd be listening, that he wished would hear him.

I will warn you all that I'll be losing my tooth tomorrow.. so If I feel inspired enough to get Part 3 written tonight, I'll get it up otherwise it'd have to wait until after my tooth is yanked out and the painkillers are in my system to numb my mouth lol.
