It was maybe around mid-evening when they finally managed to return to the others.
Qibli was still wearing the same cloak the Gatekeeper had given him while he talked to Peril about something Daniel couldn't hear.
As they closed in for landing Daniel spotted Turtle and Kinkajou in the distance.
Although Turtle seemed to be looking down at something in his talons with fear Kinkajou simply looked puzzled.
The trio soon touched down on dirt for once instead of snow which gave Daniel a sense of relief for some reason.
"Oh hey! You're back!" Qibli cheered as got up from the ground.
Some specs of brown dirt clung to his under scales but they fell of almost immediately once he began to walk.
"How did it go? Did you find the scroll of chaos?" Qibli asked.
Daniel didn't say anything and instead pulled out the object from his bag.
It was no longer glowing which was a great sign since what had happened to the Ice Kingdom...
"So we did get it, however, I have good news and bad news to share" Daniel said.
"Oh... What is it?" Peril asked also now intrigued as she walked a little closer, the heat radiating from her scales felt incredibly nice after spending so long in the Ice Kingdom.
"Well the good news is that we may have a lead on how to stop Phyrria from burning and save it" Daniel said.
"Really! That's great!... Qibli said excitedly" "Then what's the bad news...?"
Daniel sighed, "I think it's best if I spoke to all of you at once."
Daniel called out to Moon, Kinkajou, and Turtle who were huddled over a little further in the distance, talking about something he couldn't overhear but it was clear that they didn't know they arrived.
"Hey! Get over here we got a world to save!"
Winter called out to them.
They all looked over and their eyes widened with what appeared to be a mix of fear and nervousness.
The other bounded over to them.
"Hey, you're back!" Moon cheered, "How'd it go?"
"Alright, though we got a story to tell so best of you sit down" Star said.
Turtle and Kinkajou raised a brow but sat down with the rest of the group.
Now that they were all together Daniel could begin telling his story.
"Alright, so where do we begin?" Daniel asked curiously.
"I guess from when we first entered the kingdom?" Star offered.
She looked to Winter who nodded.
"Works for me"
They turned back to the others and began to tell them the long story of how they managed to get the scroll and get out of the kingdom.
Star spoke about breaking into the palace and the forbidden treasury, how there appeared to be one of Vulture's minions inside the palace as well and there... Interesting to escape down a trash chute.
Winter spoke about his encounter with his brother and how they were going to visit Jade Mountain in the coming weeks.
He also spoke about how Hailstorm managed to get them to the great ice cliff with no issues.
However, that's when Turtle interrupted him.
"Sorry Winter, but while we're on the Great Ice Cliff topic... Where is it? Wasn't it just over there a little while ago?"
He gestured a claw to where the Great Ice Cliff would be but instead, there was nothing. Just empty air.
"Oh..." Daniel said as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Well we needed an exit soo we... Made one" Daniel said finally and this is when everyone's jaws dropped.
"Y-you what?" Turtle said flabbergasted.
"You're not saying that you blew a hole in the great ice cliff?!... Are you?"
Qibli looked to Winter,
"Winter, you're part of the royal family you wouldn't let this happen, let alone be a part of it... Right?"
Winter didn't respond for a moment before he looked at Qibli with one of the coldest stares he'd seen before he said.
"Like rules, some walls are also meant to be broken."
The others looked a few shades lighter than they were originally, even Kinkajou was completely shocked at what they had just done.
"You guys destroyed an ancient enchanted landmark... And probably the most important one to the Icewings... AND GOT AWAY WITH IT?!?" Moon shrieked of disbelief.
"What- how- why-..." She didn't know how to express what she was hearing so she just fell silent.
"We had to make our own exit in order to get out of there alive" Daniel explained.
"We did this by using an animus-touched tiara that was in the forbidden treasur-"
"YOU STOLE AN ANIMUS-TOUCHED OBJECT?!" Qibli suddenly yelled, it was a mix of fear and surprise as well as a very slight hint of envy, though nobody picked up on it.
"Two actually" Daniel added as he took out the jewelled sceptre from the bag which extended itself in his talon, gleaming up at him happily.
Everyone's eyes looked down at the sceptre and Turtle looked like he was about to faint from what he had witnessed.
"So you're telling us..." Peril started
"That you three... Managed to steal not one but TWO! Animus touched objects from the treasury, destroy the most important enchanted landmark in Phyrria and STILL get out unscathed?"
"Pretty much," Winter said casually, "Oh! The scroll of chaos also ended up messing a lot of the place up with dark black cracks and deadly scorch marks so there's that too..."
"Wait what-?" Moon started but was shut down by Star before she could start asking questions.
"The point is a lot of stuff happened, alright. But we managed to get out of this place alive and well so I would highly suggest we leave while we still can" She said.
"Agreed" Daniel continued. "No doubt they're already trying to find out who we are and making preparations to look for us"
"Can't believe I'm saying this but I think it's time we stopped skipping school because school would probably be the safest place for us to figure it out right now" Winter interjected into the conversation.
"Then it's settled," Daniel said. "We'll all fly back to school today, if we leave now we should be able to make it back by the time the moons are up in the air"
The others nodded and prepared to take off but then Turtle interrupted them.
"Uhh, guys... I have some bad news.."
"Oh what now!" Peril groaned. "We've already had enough bad news for a month, and now you want us to hear more? Can't you just keep it to yourself this one time?"
"B-but it's important!" Turtle cried.
Daniel walked over to him, he put a comforting talon on his shoulder.
"Tell me, What's the bad news?"
Turtle sighed as he revealed the sharp blade in his hand from behind his back...
"I had a dream last night... About... Him.."
Turtle looked down at the ground as he gripped the blade lightly.
Daniel's eyes went wide.
"He got to you too...?"
He asked fearfully, to which Turtle replied with a simple nod.
Now Daniel was genuinely scared.
'He's going after them now... The Gatekeeper... I don't know why but I doubt it's for good intentions..'
It was clear Turtle was on edge from whatever in the world he had witnessed, however he needed some time to calm down before flying.
"Alright, let's chill for a few moments and try to get everyone ready for the flight ahead of us." Daniel called out.
"Kinkajou would you mind keeping Turtle company? I need to go and do something real quick"
"Mhm, you can trust me!" Kinkajou said gleefully.
"I know I can, don't worry," Daniel said and was filled with satisfaction when he saw Kinkjaou's smile widen and her scales shift to a happy yellow.
Quickly Daniel flew off to maybe around twenty or so meters in the distance where he sat behind a rock in the shade.
Taking out the small bottle of ink and the now deemed 'Notes' Scroll he started to write another entry on his adventure so far.

Daniel got up as he wiped his stained claw clean from the ink before placing the bottle back into the bag.
He waited about a minute to let the ink dry before he rolled up the scroll, put it away and glided back to the others again.
"Alright, are we all good to go?" Daniel asked.
"Yep!" Qibli replied, "I can't wait to get back to sleeping on a proper bed for once anyway,"
Daniel nodded before looking to Turtle again, he was sitting quietly on the dirt with Kinkajou by his side.
"Yo, you feeling alright mate?" Daniel asked as he came to his side.
"We're getting ready to leave now"
Turtle ignored him and instead asked him a question of his own.
"Hurricane... You said you weren't from Phyrria right?" his voice was quiet, a lot more than usual, like he had just stopped crying.
Daniel looked down at him, worried.
'What did he do to him... I swear to god if I ever get my hands on him I'll kill that Gatekeeper myself'
He answered the question calmly despite having a burning fury building inside of him.
"Yeah, that's right... Why do you ask?
Turtle sighed again.
"Because you were in my dream... Or I at least think it was you... It could have been the Gatekeeper playing mind tricks again..."
"Just spit it out, it'll help, trust me," Daniel said.
"Okay, okay..." Turtle said. "I was speaking to you, it was like a repeat of the day that we first met, down in the underground lake. Remember?"
"Yes I remember that, but what does that have to do with the Gatekeeper?"
"Well, when I was speaking with you in my dream... You mentioned something odd to me..." Turtle continued.
"Okay... Like what exactly? What did I say to you?" Daniel asked, now genuinely intrigued and confused.
"Well for context we were talking with one another about how I already knew you.
This was because I had my memories from the real world and of course, the dream version of you didn't know that so it was... Interesting to say the least"
"Sounds like one bizarre dream to tell you the truth Turtle" Daniel said "Though I still have no idea how this involves me not being from Phyrria?"
"I'm getting to that part" Turtle explained.
"Oh, my bad... Continue" Daniel said as he gave him full attention.
"Well... It went on as to how I knew you to which I just said we met before and whether the others knew to which I said no...
"And then..."
He fell silent, his face making a conflicting expression.
"And then what?" Daniel edged him on to keep speaking.
He looked Daniel dead in the eyes before he spoke again.
"And then... You told me these exact words" Turtle said.
"Look do you know about me... Not being a dragon?"
Daniel's eyes widened... If there was one way the Gatekeeper would get back at Daniel for escaping his deadly dream then it would be by exposing his darkest secret...
'And he did just that... He told Turtle, in the form of me... That I wasn't a dragon...'
"Hey, Hurricane are you alright?" Kinkajou asked once she saw his worried face.
Daniel had completely forgotten she was there since she was normally so much louder then she was currently being.
He snapped back to reality,
"Yeah, I'm alright... Just a little... Tired" he admitted however soon his vision began to blur And he collapsed on the ground next to them.
Instinctively they both jumped back as he came crashing down to the ground.
"Woah! Are you alright?!" Turtle asked.
Daniel couldn't speak, his vision blurred into darkness.
There was the sound of a ~pht~ ~pht~ as he saw the bodies of Turtle and Kinkajou collapse to the ground as well.
His eyes were forcefully closed by whatever had come over him but before he dozed off completely he felt something be taken off his neck.
As well as two familiar sinister voices which said...
"Looks like we won't go back home to the Scorpion Den empty handed brother... You know for being the laziest tribe Rainwings sure do have some good stealth weapons..."
"Agreed... I'm not sure how they came up with it but besides that... I'm sure Gramps will be very pleased with this find..."
Daniel's consciousness finally faded out completely...
And he fell into an empty void of darkness... Or so he thought.
When he opened his eyes again he found himself back in the same disturbing place where he first met the Gatekeeper.
His eyes widened with fear as soon as he laid sight on his surroundings.
'Oh no! Oh nononono No! NO! NO! NOT THIS PLACE AGAIN!'
Daniel screamed in his head
However, then he looked up and there he was in all his glory.
A dark shadow with white glowing eyes and a smile, a black tentacle coiled around his horn with white eye-like spots covering his body and wings, giving off a demonic appearance.

"What do you want from me?! And why are you going after my friends now!" Daniel demanded as he forced himself to stay brave against him.
"What do you want? To kill us?"
The Gatekeeper's face fell.

The Gatekeeper growled, he was getting annoyed but kept his composure nonetheless.

He smiled devilishly.
"Oh yeah? And what's that supposed to mean?" Daniel demanded
He glared at the shadowy figure infront of him intensely though the Gatekeeper was unphased.

Daniel could barely understand what he was saying which meant he was finally waking up again.
The ominous dark abyss around him faded away as he opened his eyes and groaned aloud.
"Ugh, why does he always have to be so cryptic all the time"
Daniel complained.
He saw however that he wasn't in the same place as he was before, actually they all weren't.
All of Daniel's friends were sound asleep around him however they were no longer at the Icewing border, they were all outside Jade Mountain Academy...
The lush dark grass swayed in the cool breeze and leaves from surrounding trees floated about in the sky.
Somehow the Gatekeeper had transported all of them back to school, it was the dead of night and the three moons were shining above.
'Alright, I'll give you that one... You did help. But JUST ONCE! The rest of the time you're a total piece of work.'
He reached for his bag around his neck, but it wasn't there...
Then Daniel remembered... It was taken, stolen off him before he fell asleep.
As he twisted his neck he felt a painful prickling sensation on the side of it.
He felt around and pulled out an empty sleeping dart.
Someone had drugged him, and he knew exactly who...
'Qibli's siblings... They stole my stuff from me, no doubt they're already at the stupid Scorpion Den celebrating...'
He slammed his fist down into the ground.
The clunk of metal was heard on the impact and Daniel's eyes widened when he saw it.
He knew what the Gatekeeper meant now...
'A fitting Weapon for a fitting name... Just Ink on paper... Rewrite and spill some of it yourself...'
The Gatekeeper wanted him to get revenge on the people who wronged him... By rewriting the timeline in his favour and spilling their blood... Remembering that they're not real at the end of it.
A smooth-ringed sickle laid in front of him, it gleamed in the moonlight..
The weapon of the Grim Reaper...
A weapon perfectly fit... for murder...
Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed this chapter! (I wrote for 3 nearly 4 hours straight to get this out)
I hope you enjoyed and like I promised, things are starting to get better.
I'll see what I can do on the next one but I'll assure you it won't come out as early as this one did.
(I got hit with that sudden 3am motivation)
Bye!
