Sasha walks into Joe's, ready to get drunk and not worry about having to take care of anyone afterwards. She sees two groups: Derek and Burke, and then Cristina, Meredith and Izzie. She chooses stand at an open section of the bar between the two.
"Williams, wanna join us for darts?" Burke turns to his girlfriends sister.
"You think your ego's can handle having your asses handed to you tonight?" Sasha jokes, grabbing her drink and moving over to them.
"Big talk but can you back it up?" Derek jokes, handing her a dart.
Lining her shot up, Sasha then looks to Derek, smirks and throws a no-look, hitting a bullseye. She winks at the neuro attending before grabbing another dart.
Looking over to the intern section of the bar, Sasha sees how uncomfortable Callie looks with them, "Torres! Come help me kick some attending ass!"
Callie smiles, happy that at least one intern is being welcoming.
The two women team up and end up destroying Burke and Derek, earning themselves a couple of free rounds as the other interns look on.

With her hair loose and all over the place, a stark contrast to her usual french braids or ponytail, Sasha listens to Dandridge explain what's going on with Doc as she sits on the arm of the couch next to Derek and furthest away from Meredith.
"That's it? That's your diagnosis?" Derek asks.
"Yes, he said bone cancer, so that would be his diagnosis," Meredith defends her new boyfriend.
Sasha rolls her eyes, "We heard him, just double checking."
Addison looks between everyone, wondering what chapter she missed.
"I still need to do a bone scan to see how far it's spread. Osteosarcomas are aggressive, but, uh, we can try and treat it with chemo or remove the tumor entirely. If it's spread too far, we may have to amputate the limb."
"At that point, should we even bother?" Derek asks as Sasha gets on the ground and Doc moves to curl up in her lap, his tail wagging slightly as she pets him.
Meredith sasses her ex-boyfriend, "Oh, right, let's just let him die."
Sasha sighs, "Sometimes, ending the suffering is nicer than continuing on for love."
Meredith looks down to her ex-girlfriend, reflecting on the words with a bitter note, "Right."

The four now stand in the elevator at Seattle Grace as Addison looks between the three, "So, what's-I mean, is there something going on?"
"No," They all say.
"Did you guys have a fight or something?" Addison asks.
Sasha shrugs, "Derek and I are good. You and I are good. Meredith and I are broken up."
Derek looks to her, "You didn't tell me you two broke up."
"It was time. There's a time where all things need to come to an end. That relationship's time had come."
With that, the elevator's open and they go their separate ways.

Sasha walks with Burke and Webber, dressed to head out with Burke on a heart transplant for Denny.
"Two dead, 14 injured. The policeman said the gunman got away, so there could be more incoming."
"I could stay. We could send Bailey," Burke offers.
"No, no. You're our only cardiothoracic transplant specialist. You go get that heart. Make sure to take Williams. She needs more hours than just with Addison," Webber tells the two.
They head out the door to the helicopter before they hear Alex shout, "Dr. Burke! Dr. Burke! I heard you were getting a heart, can I go with you guys?"
Cristina had followed him up, "I asked first."
Burke asks them, "You didn't get assigned any gunshot cases?"
"Well, yeah, but if you had put me on this when I asked, I would've been free," Cristina argues.
Sasha says, "Addison's marked Karev for OB-GYN duty. There's no way he's gotten any."
"She's right," Alex points at Sasha, "Please."
"Let's go Karev," Burke waves Alex in.
"You can't be serious," Cristina complains.
Alex cheers, sitting next to Sasha, "Whoo! See you later, Yang."
As they take off, Sasha holds the cooler for Burke as Alex asks, "So, who's the lucky patient?"
"Denny Duquette," Sasha tells him, giggling at his face.
He decides to pay her back, "You break up with Grey yet or what?"
"Yeah, last night," Sasha nods.
"Oh," He backs down, "Sorry."
"Yeah, right," Sasha scoffs, "You couldn't wait for me to break up with her so that you could stop hearing me talk about her."
"You make me sound like an ass."
"You are an ass, Karev," Burke tells the intern.

Arriving at Mercy West, Burke talks with one of the surgeons, "There are two donors?"
"Two brothers tried to pass a semi on a double yellow and came out on the loosing end of a head-on. Both are a match for your guy," He explains.
"So we get our pick?" Alex mentions to Burke.
Sasha shakes her head, "It doesn't work like that. UNOS assigns who gets which donor. Who's retrieving the other heart?"
A woman calls out to Burke, "Took you long enough, Preston," A woman in red scrubs is seen at the sink, "Why are these two junior's here? Your ego get too big for even two men to carry?"
Burke just laughs and turns to the interns, "Dr. Hahn here graduated second in our class at John Hopkins. Ask her who graduated first."
¤¤¤¤
After they scrub in, they walk into see the team doing compressions, "What the hell happened to my donor?"
"He went into v-fib."
"I can see that. Give me the paddles," Burke says, "Williams, take over compressions. You gave epi?"
The nurse nods, "Three rounds. And we shocked him twice."
Burke plans as Sasha does compressions, "I'm gonna hit him again at 360. Clear," Sasha lifts her hands, "He's asystolic."
"I don't get it. The guy's already dead," Alex says.
"And now his heart's joined the rest of him. Which means we can't use it," Sasha sighs, "Could we get the other heart?"
Burke doesn't answer, instead, he shoots out of the OR without a word.
"I'm guessing that's a yes," Sasha chuckles, following Burke to the other OR where they find him in a standoff with Hahn.
"Is he higher on the transplant list? Is he higher on the transplant list?" Burke asks.
Hahn just looks at him, "I have no idea."
Burke shakes his head, "Well, neither do I," He turns to Sasha, "Williams, get UNOS on the phone, now."
She goes to grab the phone, mumbling to herself as she dials, "A please wouldn't kill you."
¤¤¤¤
They stand in one of the conference rooms as Hahn keeps going after Burke, "Your guys on an LVAD. He's probably up and walking around. My guy still needs his dobutamine drip."
"That's the best you can do?" Burke asks, "He can climb Mount Shasta on a dobutamine drip."
The guy from UNOS talks over the phone, "As of this morning, Dr. Hahn's patient was 22 hundredths of a point ahead."
"Well, that's basically a tie," Burke continues to argue.
"Except that Dr. Hahn's patient was admitted into the transplant program before Mr. Duquette."
"How long before?"
"17 seconds."
Burke stares at Hahn, "17 seconds."
Hahn is smug, "Might as well be 17 weeks. It doesn't matter."
As Burke's phone rings, Sasha scoffs, "These are human beings we're talking about, not some pissing contest because your ego is bruised from when you were a med student."
The cardio surgeon turns to Sasha, "Who do you think you are to talk to me like that?"
"Someone who graduated first in her class. Can you say the same?" Sasha smirks as Burke grins at her.
Alex takes the phone as Burke and Hahn continue to argue.
¤¤¤¤
Burke talks to Izzie on the phone as the others sit around the conference table.
"Preston, she could be putting paddles directly on his heart. He's still not getting this thing," Hahn comments.
Burke ignores her and continues talking to Izzie for a second before joining the group, "According to my intern, Denny Duquette now qualifies as a 1A candidate for that heart. That puts him ahead of Dr. Hahn's patient."
Hahn stands up, "I'm outta here. This is just crap."
"Dr. Hahn."
"What?" She asks, attitude galore.
"If Dr. Burke wants to run labs, do an echo and a BNP to fully ascertain the status of his patient, we'll allow it."
"That'll take an hour," Hahn argues.
"Is the donor stable?" It's quiet for a second as they look to Hahn, "Dr. Hahn, is the donor stable?"
She nods, "Yes, the donor is currently stable."
"In that case, Dr. Burke, you've got an hour to get those tests."
Burke puts the phone to his ear, "Dr. Stevens. Good. Get going then."
¤¤¤¤
Pacing the OR is how Alex and Sasha find Burke, "It's been 30 minutes already. Is Stevens answering her page?"
"She's probably busy getting the test results," Alex says.
"You call Bailey?"
"Uh, she's not answering either," Alex lies, making Sasha raise an eyebrow.
Hahn interrupts them, "You can check the chart all you want, you're not getting this heart."
Burke shrugs, "Well, you may not want it. His angiogram shows 30% LAD."
"Still not enough to give it to you," Hahn says.
"You'd be giving it to a patient, not Burke," Sasha scoffs, "God I hate egos."
¤¤¤¤
Burke reenters the OR, "According to my intern, Denny Duquette is in pulmonary edema, and he has been intubated and placed on multiple IV drips."
"So Preston gets the heart. Great. Let's open this guy," One of the other surgeons say.
"However..." Burke stops them, "Given this unusual situation, and out of respect to Dr. Hahn, I'd like to confirm those results."
Alex contradicts him, "Y-you just did."
Burke turns to him, "In-person. I want to confirm them in person," Alex nods in understanding.
Hahn looses it, "Are you kidding? By the time you get there, it'll be another hour. What are you up to, Burke? Why don't you just talk to your Chief and confirm the results with him."
Sasha answers that one, "Because they are dealing with a mass shooting incident that is taking all of his attention as well as that of all our attendings."
"Exactly," Burke gives Sasha a thankful no, "Now, if you prefer, I can just call UNOS and have them give me the heart or I can go and make sure that it really belongs to me."
Hahn thinks it over, "Go."
"Thank you," Burke talks to Alex and Sasha, "I'm going back to Seattle Grace. Williams, you're coming with me. Karev, you stay here and protect my heart. If that woman so much as looks at a scalpel, tackle her. Do you understand?"
He nods, "Yes, sir."
Sasha turns to Burke as they walk out, "Want to tell me what the hell is going on now?"
¤¤¤¤
Burke and Sasha walk through the ambulance bay where gunfire is then rain-downed on them. She watches as a patient goes down first, then Burke, then she feels a sharp pain in her leg and she goes down.
She feels someone putting pressure on her leg, "Williams! Williams! I need some help over here!" Bailey yells.
