"The hell do you mean he was married!"
I woke up to the sound of a man screaming. My neck and back ached from sleeping in a cell and the random argument I woke up to didn't improve my mood.
"We found a wedding ring on him shika" Naruto explained calmly "we figured you would want to see him"
"Of course I want to see him. Anyone involved with that bastard needs to be dealt with" he growled.
"Wait shika, you're not going to hurt him are you" Naruto sounded concerned. Poor sweet Naruto. I imagine this will hurt.
"Don't concern yourself with him" he said sharply as his footsteps came closer. I looked up to see the approaching man.
He was a handsome man with intelligent looking eyes that felt like they were gripping my soul. His chestnut brown hair was tied in a ponytail and his clothes were made of fine silk, it was the kind of clothes I could never afford.
He stared down at me before tilting his head curiously "you're younger than I expected"
"What did you expect?" I raised an eyebrow "rich people always marry younger people. I imagine you have at least three wives"
He snorted "cute but no I'm not married"
"Pity. I guess no woman could put up with you" I said snarkily. At this point I didn't care if I pissed him off. I was going to die anyway.
Instead of losing his temper however he smirked "come here" he beacon me.
I folded my arms stubbornly "I'm not a dog. You can't call on me and expect me to jump at your command"
"You're quite the feisty one but you're not in a position to argue" he smirked as he motioned me forward. I sighed before getting up and walking over to him.
He cupped my chin "you are quite the beauty" he ran his finger across my jaw "I can see why that bastard wanted you as a trophy husband"
"Tch if only that's all he wanted from me" I muttered under my breath.
"Hmm" he mused "how long have you two been married"
"Five years" I replied.
"Five years!?" He stumbled back in shock "but that would mean-"
"I was underage yes. Not like my family cared, they only cared about getting his money" I said bitterly.
"I'm guessing you weren't in love with him" he gave me a pitying look.
"In love? I was glad when the abusive bastard died!" I took off my ring and threw it at the wall "I'm guessing you'll have me killed now?"
"No quite the opposite" he took my hand and kissed it "I plan to take you as my fiancée"
