"renjuuuuun...?" jeno whined as he leant further against renjun's side while both of them were cuddling on the couch and watching tv, making him end up lying on his back on renjun's lap while the other boy still had his eyes on the tv.
"yeah?" the chinese male replied, not even glancing at jeno.
"renjuuun..." the younger male continued whining, hoping to get his boyfriend's attention.
"yes, jeno?" renjun spoke again, his eyes still on the tv.
jeno pouted when he realised renjun was way too focused on the tv to care about him. however, a small smirk appeared on his face when he got an idea on how to trigger renjun.
"alright, if you don't want me anymore, i'll go to nana." jeno declared, standing up from the couch and indenting to head towards their bedroom. "at least he loves me." he added dramatically.
the smirk on jeno's face morphed into a grin as he was stopped on his way to the bedroom by a hand grabbing his wrist and turning him around.
"what are you saying, i do still want you!" renjun said immediately. "and i love you more than anyone could ever love you too."
"oh, really?" jeno raised a brow. "didn't look like it a few seconds ago... actually, not until i mentioned nana."
renjun held himself from rolling his eyes. "you mentioned the rabbit?" he asked in a sweet and innocent voice, knowing very well that this had been what had woken him up from his daze.
"i did." jeno nodded proudly. "and it had an immediate effect."
"i didn't notice you did." renjun shrugged before pulling jeno back towards the couch and sitting them both there. "now, what did you want to tell me?"
"well..." jeno smiled brightly, setting himself back in the position he was a while ago, lying on his boyfriend's lap. "i wanted to ask you a question..."
"sure, tell me everything, babe." renjun nodded, allowing his hand to entangle with jeno's brown hair.
"it's about nana." jeno continued, his eyes focusing on renjun's face in order to analyse his reactions.
jeno had discovered about nana's real identity days before, and he had had the opportunity to talk with jaemin while renjun was at work. both of them had been able to talk together and get to know each other better, and at some point of the conversation, the topic of renjun had come up.
both jeno and jaemin agreed on the fact that renjun didn't seem that friendly to nana, and they were aware that if they wanted jaemin to be able to stay in his human form, they would need renjun to accept the idea of nana being a hybrid. but before that, it would be important for renjun to accept the idea of nana. and this wasn't so evident.
since jeno and him had adopted the rabbit, it seemed like the chinese male was always jealous of the rabbit whenever he was brought up in a conversation, or when he showed up. hence, jeno's mission would be to understand this hatred for the cute fluffy rabbit that was nana, and maybe try to change this hatred into love or at least something that would allow jaemin to live freely around him without fearing to get rejected.
so, this was what this whole conversation would be about. jeno would try to make renjun get attached to nana. and because he knew it wouldn't be automatic and his boyfriend's behaviour wouldn't change, it would be his main task for the next weeks.
"oh..." renjun's whole body tensed underneath jeno, and the hand that was massaging his scalp stopped moving for a second. jeno understood that this reaction was due to the mention of nana's name.
"can i still ask it?" he asked, trying his best to look the cutest possible to make his boyfriend's heart melt and make him accept his request.
thankfully, it worked. "yeah, ask me, babe."
jeno smiled even brighter than before at that. at least, renjun was open to talking about nana.
a few days ago, jeno was sure he wouldn't have received such an answer. but this was maybe the effect of their argument days before. maybe, renjun had understood how much nana meant to jeno, and he was doing a concession to make his boyfriend happy.
jeno truly had the best boyfriend out there...
"do you hate him?" jeno asked in a timid voice, looking up into renjun's eyes as his heartbeat accelerated, anticipating the boy's reaction.
"where does that even come from...?" renjun let out a small laugh as he rolled his eyes, secretly scolding himself for being so obvious with his actions.
"well, you're always mad whenever i talk about him. and you never want to pet him or anything..." jeno explained. "and you don't even call him 'him'. you call him 'it'."
"that's just because it's an animal, and animals are supposed to be called 'it'." renjun justified himself quickly, and this justification could have been completely acceptable. but too bad, nana wasn't fully animal, he was also half human, and he deserved the pronoun 'him' – not that jeno would be able to tell that to his boyfriend right now, though.
"but he's not an animal to me..." jeno pouted. "it's as if he was human. as if he was part of our family. and he's a boy, so that's why i call him 'him'."
"well, he's your rabbit, not mine, so you have the right to call it whatever you want." renjun shrugged again.
"but i want him to feel at ease with both of us... and he won't be able to if you keep putting a big distance between you and him." jeno intensified his pout, using the cuteness card to win over his boyfriend.
"so, you're trying to make me call it 'him'? is that so?"
jeno's answer came non-verbal, with a simple nod and a bright smile that could heal any sad soul.
"alright... i guess i can do that for you..." renjun approved his boyfriend's request, making jeno jump up to his feet and bounce in front of his boyfriend in happiness.
"thank you renjun! thank you!" he exclaimed. "you're the best!"
"yeah, yeah..." renjun couldn't help himself but smile at his boyfriend's cuteness. he really couldn't resist him...
"i'll go get nana so that we can have some nice time together then!" jeno stated completely overjoyed, hoping that this wouldn't cause a visceral reaction from renjun.
"okay..." renjun sighed, obviously not as overjoyed as jeno.
jeno disappeared in the corridor, and he was back seconds later with the white rabbit in his arms. he plopped himself on the couch by renjun's side, lifting the rabbit in the air so that it was facing renjun.
"say 'hello' to nana!" he giggled happily.
renjun let out a small sigh as he backed away slightly. "hello nana..." he let out with zero motivation.
"hello renjun!" jeno said in a high-pitched voice, using his hand to make nana's paw move as if he was waving at renjun. "thank you for accepting me!"
"pleasure..." renjun answered simply his eyes never leaving the rabbit.
jeno giggled again before cuddling to his boyfriend's side facing the tv. he then placed the rabbit on his lap and passed his hands through its fur.
"i believe you don't want to hold him." jeno spoke, detaching his eyes from the rabbit to look at his boyfriend.
"no thank you." renjun answered immediately.
"later, maybe." jeno smirked, wiggling his shoulder and slightly pushing renjun.
the older male looked at his boyfriend with a brow raised. "some of us are getting cocky, huh?"
"some of us want you to love their rabbit." jeno explained simply.
"who said i didn't love your rabbit?" renjun huffed, making jeno hold a laugh.
"well... your actions..." he replied.
renjun sighed again, rolling his eyes. "yeah, okay. i don't love it- him..." renjun corrected himself. "but i love you, and if you love him, then i guess i'll have to learn how to get used to him..."
"and love him." jeno added, smiling brightly at renjun.
"that's a bit too much, babe, you know that- "
turning his head to look at his boyfriend, renjun's heart sank when he saw how big and teary jeno's eyes had become and how pouty his lips were. he looked like an abandoned puppy receiving the slightest bit of love for the first time, and god, could renjun resist that? certainly not.
the chinese male sighed loudly. "...and love him..."
"yes!!!" jeno exclaimed. "you heard that?!" he asked, making the rabbit look up at him. "he said he would learn how to love you!"
and as jeno talked to his pet, renjun stared at him with the same heart eyes he had had on their first date. jeno was truly someone amazing, and if he had made renjun fall for him and never doubt him, it was that he could be trusted. and so, this meant that if jeno loved this rabbit with all of his heart – as long as he didn't love him more than renjun – then renjun would need to accept this decision, and maybe open himself to it too; because if jeno was this attached to the rabbit, then there was no reason renjun couldn't learn to get attached to it too...
