You are immortal and has lived though out history. You have visited most museums in the world, including knowing all languages. You meet C/N in a museum for an ancient civilization and he is leading the tour. You correct him on some of the facts and you are fascinated he knows so much. He is the same about you.
I got off the train and looked around. The last time I was in this town was during the Civil War. I distinctly remember helping a Union soldier and being punished for it later. I looked around and saw the huge museum. I walked up the stairs and went to the front desk.
"Hi there. Anything I can help you with?"
"I would like a guided tour at 10," the woman typed on her computer.
"Your in luck, honey. Someone dropped out. The meeting spot is o ver there in one minute," I thanked her, wondering when people living here became nicer to people, and went over to the gathered group.
The group consisted mainly of older people, majority were women, since children were in school, if I remember correctly. The days are blurring together even worse now.
"I hope we get that cute guy. He's so informed," one woman tried ,and failed, to whisper.
"He's in his twenties at least. Have you seen the muscles on him?" I walked to the far side of the group to avoid the still gossiping women. A young man walked up with a slight limp.
"Good morning folks. I'm so glad you are able to join me in a walk through the Civil War. If you would follow me," I walked closer to the back and we walked to our first few stations. Everyone was right, this guy did know his history.
"The place where we are standing right know, used to be the battlegrounds for one of the bloodiest and longest battles of the Civil War. It was determined as inconclusive due to how many casualties there were and," I coughed and he paused.
"Sorry. I had just read otherwise. The Confederate army lost more but still managed to win the battle. Union soldiers outnumbered them by quite a lot, but still managed to scrap together a win for the South."
"There is quite a lot of conflicting data to support both, which Is why they are calling it as a tie until there is more evidence," I nodded and he continued.
"We don't know what happened to some people from the war. There was a woman who went missing right after the battle. She was a nurse for the Confederates. Many nurses went missing but the soldiers wrote that it wasn't the same without her there. Emile was one of many to not return home after the war," my blood ran cold. I walked up to the glass where some journals from the soldiers were set up.
"Kidnapped," I tried to control my breathing. I can't go back there. Not now. We continued walking through the exhibits and I barely managed to not get sucked into the past. Our group separated.
"Excuse me. Can we talk?" I turned around and the tall man walked up.
"Don't you have other tours to do?"
"Not until later. This is important," I nodded and followed him through the exhibits. "How much do you really know?" We went to the first case with the Union's map.
"Not a lot."
"More than the average person would have. What about Emile?"
"She was related to me. I found her letters home..."
"She had no living family. Her parents were killed, her brothers were killed in the war, her sister married at 13 to someone in the Confederate army and they were ambushed in their home."
"I forgot about that. Can we meet up and talk in private?"
"I get off for lunch in 15. Meet me by the officer's exhibit," I nodded and he walked off.
I wandered over and someone tapped my shoulder. I followed him and he led me to an employees only room and led me inside.
"Isn't this an employee only room?"
"Yes but I'm the only one on lunch right now. How do you know Emile?"
"I should be asking you that. How do you know her story isn't a twisted fantasy like some of this research they are using?"
"They found her journal and..." He hesitated.
"She said it was a lie? She wasn't 17 when the war started? She wasn't even from that time or place? Happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time? How come it isn't here and widespread news?" I muttered.
"So it's true?"
"Born BC. Don't exactly know when. Lived in a small village and ran away once I quit aging. I was considered a freak of nature or a witch. Went to different civilizations at the wrong times. Ended up in Alabama before the war and the Confederate brought me on as a nurse. Went by Emile during that time. I knew the soldiers liked having someone to talk to but nothing prepared me for the journals. After this battle I was helping an Union soldier on our side. I saved his leg and some soldiers captured me and thought I would have information on the Confederates.
"After that, I tried to stay in neutral territories. I've visited museums across the globe, seeing how accurate their information. Usually isn't. Your information is the closest thing to truth I've seen in years. How do you know all of this?"
"It helps to live through it. Born after the plague to a family of smiths. I quit aging, similar to you, and ran to make weapons elsewhere. I was in Pennsylvania when they recruited me for the war. Just making weapons until our numbers started decreasing. This was my second battle. They didn't kill me because of my leg but I went back to making weapons. You saved me that day and I couldn't do anything about it," I was stunned.
"I didn't know if you would make it. I tried some old techniques I learned from the Native Americans and it worked," he nodded.
"I still can't believe I found you. Would you like to go out sometime?"
"That would be nice."
"Who are you going by right now? "
"Y/N L/N.*
"I'm C/N L/N. Its lovely to make your acquaintance," he kissed the back of my hand, a business card under his hand.
This one was cute. I hope you guys enjoyed it!
