~ The next day ~
It was lunchtime and Jake and Hailey planned on meeting at the flower field for lunch.
Luckily, Jake had already found somewhere to sit for lunch on his second day. It was usually pretty hard to find a spot. Especially since how yesterday went.
Jake POV
I'm not gonna lie. I sort of forgot where the flower field was.
I knew it was outside, somewhere near the front.
I started wandering when I saw two people walking around the area I was.
One was a girl, and she had hot pink hair, the other, a guy, had light pink hair and glasses.
"Maybe they know where the flower field is!"
I walk up to the two, stopping their walking and talking conversation
"Uh, hi! I'm new here. Do you happen to know where the flower field is?"
The girl looks at me for a few seconds, staring me down. Then she shares a smile, which makes me relieved that someone doesn't hate me even though ive never met them before.
"Oh, yeah!" She looks over at the light haired boy. "I'll be right back, hun."
YES I MADE MILLIOT CANON FOR THIS AU 🤭
"Okay! I'll be waiting here."
He replied.
"So they're dating I guess? Or she's saying hun as best friend!"
Jake you're a dumbass 🙄
"Perfect! I'll do that for Hailey, because I think we are good friends already? Maybe? I don't know."
She starts walking a direction as I quickly catch up with her
"So, what's your name?"
She asks me
"M-me?" I ask not realizing she was talking to me
"No, the wall, of course you!"
She snorts a bit. "O-ok. Well i'm Jake."
"Cool! I'm Millicent, but you can call me Milly." She says with a grin
"How come you're heading to the flower field?" Milly asks me
"Oh, i'm meeting my friend there."
"How long have you been here?"
"I joined yesterday."
Milly quietly gasps at this
"You've already made a friend, and it's your second day here? Jeez! It took me like a month for me to find friends."
I don't know what to reply.
Fortunately, we arrive at the flower field so I don't have to.
"Well, here we are. It was nice meeting you, Jake!"
Milly says walking off while waving
I wave back and head towards Hailey, whose laying against a tree with her earbuds in.
Her eyes were closed, I wasn't sure if she was sleeping, and if she was, I didn't wanna wake her up.
I walked a little bit closer, to see if she was actually asleep. I could hear very low small snores being produced, indicating that she was indeed asleep.
Third person POV
He thought again and realized if she stayed asleep, she would probably sleep through the bell and accidentally skip class
"Sorry Hailey. But I don't wanna walk to class alone."
He slowly tip toed over to Hailey and kneeled down towards her, looking at her soundly sleeping.
He blushed to himself before he hesitantly shook her a little bit.
This caused Hailey to wake up, before she fully opened her eyes she saw a blob, which was the color of peach, and instantly knew who it was.
She shut her eyes again and put her hands over her eyes and groaned a bit.
Jake wasn't sure what was happening or if he did the right thing, cause Hailey didn't look very happy
Hailey sat herself up from the tree and looked at Jake.
"What'd you wake me up for?" She said tiredly.
"Well, we planned on meeting here for lunch; When I got here you were asleep and I didn't wanna be walking to class alone."
Hailey POV
"Oh, shit. We're at school. I like completely forgot about that."
I giggle
"Well, hun, bahdhehwjjshebsn."
When I heard the word "hun" I immediately blocked out whatever else he was saying.
I look at him with my eyes widened
"Did you just call me hun..?"
Jake POV
When I tell you I messed up. I messed up. Big time.
I thought it would be a good idea to say hun to Hailey, as friends of course, because I had heard Milly say hun to that mysterious guy.
I thought it was between good friends and stuff, but I was wrong. I'm just worried on what Hailey is gonna say next.
"Do friends not call each other that..?"
I decide to respond
There was blush all over her face, and a bit on mine too.
"No no no no no Jake... People call each other hun when they are dating."
My eyes widen wider that hers were and I immediately apologize
"I'm so so sorry.. I didnt know! Maybe i'm just that dumb not to realize-"
I get cut off my Hailey putting her thumb on my lips to stop me from talking.
"Hey. It's okay, people make mistakes!"
She shares a grin with me that makes me blush even more.
She removes her thumb and we get lost into each others eyes. Her eyes were so pretty, anyone could get lost in those beautiful of eyes..
Hailey POV
I remove my thumb and we start to get lost into each others eyes. His were so pretty, anyone could get lost in those eyes...
I realized this'll be awkward if the conversation doesn't end soon.
"A-Anyway, uh, I was wondering, do you want to come over after school?"
Jake flinches and says
"Yeah, I should be free!"
*BELL NOISES THINGY*
The bell saves us both from the awkward tension as we both head off towards our classes. We were gonna walk together but it was just to awkward. Maybe tomorrow.

After school
"So you said your house was walking distance?"
"Yep! we should be there in less than 10 minutes."
Jake And Hailey had met at the front of the school, so they could both go to Haileys house.
They started walking
"Yknow I still haven't asked my parents if I could stay over at your house."
Hailey looks at him
"Well you should!"
"Nah, it's fine, i'll just tell them later."
"If you say so..."
A few minutes of walking and talking, they arrive to their destination.
"Welcome to my house I guess."
She walks up to the front door and opens it, walking in. Jake follows.
"You can just set your backpack and shoes here."
He does exactly that, then follows Hailey into her kitchen, where Shannon was.
"Hi mum!"
Shannon turns around and waves back
"Hello, Hailey!"
She looks next to her and sees Jake
"Who's this?"
"Oh, it's just one of my friends that's staying over for a few hours."
Shannon smirks at Hailey, and she realizes she's about to say something
She quickly grabs Jakes hand, catching him off guard
He was already shy enough, but when her soft hand touched his, that sent him.
Hailey runs up stairs, while still holding Jakes hand. They make it to the landing before they both hear
"Don't have too much fun up there!"
from Shannon downstairs.
Hailey let's go of his hand, realizing she failed to escape Shannon.
They both immensely blush at the comment.
After standing in their spots for a few seconds, Hailey begins, "A-Anyway! Just ignore what she said. Let's go to my room?"
"U-Uh yeah, of course!
They walk towards her room, and enter it.
Jake looks around her room, and sees many photos hung up from when she was little, and his eye catches one specific one.
He sees the photo from when they were little, on the last day of summer camp.
The photo had Jake and Hailey clinging on to each other, crying their eyes out, just like he had remembered.
He stared at it for a long time, then grinned to himself at his thoughts
It was her.
It was Hailey.
Hailey Austin.
