"Hey, you're that girl who almost won the sports festival, right?" A voice that was slightly familiar spoke next to you. Looking up from your phone you saw the white girl who usually sat elsewhere on the bus.
"Yeah, what of it?" You looked at her up and down.
"Nothing, chill. Just wanna say good work. You're pretty badass." She shrugs. "I'm Bella."
"Y/n." You said your first name. White people go by their first names instead of their last names, so might as well go with it.
"I know your name. I like your first name better than your last name." She comments, scrolling on her phone.
You gave her a looked as you blinked slowly. "Kay."
"If it makes you feel any better, I bet karma will come and kick his ass soon enough." She said, probably talking about Bakugo.
"If it doesn't, I will."
It was a rainy day at school and the class was fully talking about how they were recognized on the way to school. But, when Aizawa walked in the room, it went dead silent and everyone darted for their seats.
"Ribbit...Mr. Aizawa, your bandages are gone." Asui noted, sticking a finger to her face. "I'm glad."
You saw scar on Aizawa's face, right under his eye. "The old lady went overboard with her treatment. More importantly, we're having a special hero informatics class today...Code names. You'll be coming up with hero names."
"We're gonna do something exciting!" The class erupted.
Aizawa used his quirk, making his hair rise. "This is related to the pro hero draft picks I mentioned the other day. The drafts being in earnest in the second and thirds years, after students have gained experience and can become immediate assets to the pros. In other words, for them to extend offers to first years like you shows that they are interested in your future potential. These offers are cancelled if the interest dies down by graduation."
"So we'll have to prove ourselves once we get picked, huh?" Some invisible bitch spoke.
"That's right. And here are the totals for those with offers." Aizawa turned slightly and pressed a button, making the board show some stats.
Todoroki - 4123
Bakugo - 3556
L/n - 3330
Tokoyami - 360
Iida - 301
Kaminari - 272
Yaoyorozu - 108
Kirishima - 68
Uraraka - 20
Sero - 14
"In other years, it's been more spread out, but all eyes were on these three this year." Aizawa said, pointing to the top three names, yours inculded.
"Gah! There's such a big difference!"
"Those pros don't know a good thing when they see once."
"Todoroki first and Bakugo second...?"
"It's the opposite of their placement in the sports festival."
"Some people are too scared to ask for a guy who had to be restrained on the podium."
"What're the pros scared of?!" Bakugo lashed out, turned his head around at the tape boy.
"Keeping these results in mind, whether or not anyone asked for you, you will all be participating in internships with pros. At the USJ, you already got to experience combat with real villains, but it will still be meaningful training for you to see pros at work firsthand."
"So that explains the hero names!"
"Things are suddenly getting a lot more fun!"
"Well, those hero names are still temporary, but if you're not serious about it-"
"THEN you'll have to pay for hell later!" Midnight busted into the classroom. "because a lot of heroes names used by students become recognized by society and they end up being profession hero names."
"Well...that's how it is. So Midnight will be making sure your names are okay. I can't do stuff like that." Aizawa picked up the infamous yellow sleeping bag. "When you give yourself a name you get a more concrete image of what you want to be like in the future, and you can get closer to it. That is what it means when they say 'names and natures do often agree'. Like 'All Might' for example."
Everyone passed around whiteboards to use. You went with around three star-wars names before wiping them off, seeing how stupid they are. You went through all the stupid and idiotic names you could think of.
"Okay, let's start with presenting names starting with those who are ready." Midnight accounced after a while. You did not fall into that category.
Some blond sparkly boy got up the front with a smile on his face. "Shining Hero: I can not stop twinkling."
A cackle of a laugh threatened to escape your mouth, you slapped a hand over it almost failing to hold it in.
"It'll be easier to use if you take out the 'I' and shorten the 'can not' to 'can't'" Midnight flipped the whiteboard around.
"You're right, mademoiselle."
"IT'S OKAY?"
The pink chick, Mina, went up next. "Then I go now! Hero Name, Alien Queen!"
"Are you trying for the thing with acidic blood? I wouldn't if I were you!" Midnight seemed horrified by the name.
You wiped off the one down already and started to think of other hero names. More and more people went up, choosing their names. And you were running out of ideas. However, a conversation between you and Bella struck an idea.
"King Explosion Murder!" Bakugo's face was plain angry as he spat the hero name. You cracked up in your seat, wiping a fake tear from your eye as Midnight rejected it.
"You should go as 'walking bomb' or 'Dynamite' since you're always about to explode!" You teased the boy, making him yell cuss words at you.
Uraraka went next, and Midnight liked hers. Then Iida choose his first name then Midoriya had a main character moment about his hero name, but you didn't care about that, you were shocked at how bad his hand writing was.
"Well, other than Bakugo, we still have one more. L/n, are you ready?" Midnight and the class turned to you.
"Yeah, yeah." You rose out of your seat, slamming the whiteboard on the table. "Telekinesis Hero: Karma."
"Oh! Like the consequences for your actions...I like it!" Midnight placed her hands on her hips.
"Karma...heh, isn't that fitting for L/n." Kaminari said, leaning back on his chair. Your eyes darted over to him and you pushed the chair backwards, making his life flash before his eyes as he fell down.
"Now that everyone is finished on their hero names, we'll go back to talking about internships. They will last for a week. As for where you'll have them, those who had offers from pros will be given your own lists so you can choose from those yourself. Those who didn't have offers will choose from among forty agencies around the country that will be accepting out interns. They all work in different places and have different specialties." Aizawa explained.
"For example, Thriteen would be focused on rescues from accidents and disasters more than fighting villains."
"Think carefully before you chose."
"Yes, Sir!"
You had a long stack of papers to go through. You skim read through them, highlighting the ones that looked interesting. As you flipped through the next page, a name stuck out to you.
Endeavour Hero Agency.
Quickly looking at the rest of the names and seeing no one good, you turned to the tallest girl in the room.
"Hey, peacock hair." You got her attention. Momo turned around a little bewildered. "Make me a lighter real quick."
"Why do you need one?" She stuck out her hand and not a second later, a lighter appeared.
You pulled it down twice before a flame ignited, you set that piece of paper over the flame, letting it go up in flames.
"Burn in fire, you bastard." You muttered as the paper turned to ash.
You handed the lighter back to Momo who just stood their with her eyebrows raised at you. "Oh."
"Hey guys, have you decided what pro agency you're going to yet?"
"I'm going to Mt. Lady!"
You rolled your eyes as you tried to drown out the classroom chatter. You were getting to the end of the stack now. As people started to talk about 'air chair' you had just about finished looking through them. You'd highlighted 555 agencies, and now you get to go through them.
X-Less Hero Agencies
Crust Hero Agencies
Wash Hero Agencies
Fat Gum Hero Agencies
Sir Nighteye Hero Agencies
Kamui Woods Hero Agencies
Gan Ocra Hero Agencies
Ryukyu Hero Agencies
Rock Lock Hero Agencies
The list went on and on, but out of all the offers, only one replayed in your mind over and over again. You put agencies name down, followed by two other agencies before getting up and walking over to the staff room to hand it in.
As you were walking past the toilets, you heard voices.
"He was a teacher at UA for only one year. The man who was my homeroom teacher." This voice sounded like All Might. "He knows about One for All, too. In fact, he probably asked for you because of that."
"Someone that amazing is...!?" This voice sounded like Midoriya. "Wait, there was someone else who knew about the quirk."
Quirk? What is going on here? And what is One for All?
"Gran Torino was the sworn friend of my predecessor. He retired a long time ago, so I forgot to count him... Was it because I wrote of yo when I sent him the letter? Or because he couldn't stand by and watch my inadequate teaching...? He went so far as to use his old name to make an offer...It's scary...Too scary." All Might sounded like he was shivering
Okay what in the peanut butter jelly fuck is going on here?
"B-But, since y-you got..an offer, y-y-y-you should work t-t-to your he-hearts con-con-content." All Might stuttered.
"R-right!" Midoriya started to move around the corner with a piece of paper in his hand, at the sight of you he screamed, so so loud.
"Jesus! Calm yourself." You raised your hands.
"Young L/n! What are you doing here?!" All Might asked, sitting up straight.
"As in what am I doing in the school I go to or?" You raised an eyebrow, not bothering to help Midoriya up.
"Um...just curious, but how much of that conversation did you um...hear?" Midoriya asked, rubbing his hand on the back of his neck and not look at you.
"Enough." You said, brushing past him and out the school gates.
All Might talking about the very top secret and private All For One in the corridor of a school
