I stood staring at the wall between platform nine and three-quarters and inhaled deeply. Memories flooded before my eyes causing me to halt.
I felt a tug at my jacket and looked down, bright blue eyes were peering up at me with a slight frown between her eyes. I smiled down at her, "are you ready my love?"
"Yes mama, are you okay?" Phoebe's eyes twinkled as she observed me.
I smiled softly, "how could I not be with you by my side?" She chuckled softly and held onto my hand. "Nervous sweet?" I asked as I gripped her fingers between mine.
She nodded slightly but kept her gaze on the wall in front of us. I watched her as she took a deep breath and set her face determinedly.
"On the count of three okay? One.. two... three" we ran towards the wall still gripping each other's hands and slid straight through the brick like it was water. I heard Phoebe sigh slightly and quickly drop my hand.
I frowned down at her and she quickly shook her head, "not here mama, I'm a big girl now" I chucked lightly, noticing that she specified here. I placed her bag onto her shoulder and bent down placing my hands gently onto her arms.
"I'll miss you" I could feel the tears fill my eyes, Phoebe rolled her eyes instantly.
"Mom!" She warned looking around. I followed her gaze but no one was watching us, each parent wearing the same expression of my own, nothing but pride and longing, with maybe a hint of fear.
"I just want to say, and I'll be quick" I added quickly as she opened her mouth to speak, "I hope you have the best time, please write as often as you can, I want to know about what you're learning, only if you can." She was scowling, I wanted to know everything about her life without me in it, but I know I also have to let her live on her own.
"What I'm trying to say is, have an amazing time my love, be safe and have fun" I smiled and she couldn't stop herself my smiling too. She flung her arms around my neck and squeezed, her voice barely above a whisper, she said,
"I love you mama"
I squeezed her back and she let me go, she grabbed her bags and made her way to the big red train that said 'Hogwarts Express' she put one foot on to the train step and stopped, she turned to face me, I could see her eyes sparkly with tears. She lifted her hand slightly and waved.
I waved and stepped back, allowing other children to clamber onto the train. I couldn't see Phoebe any more, she must have been searching for a compartment and found one on the other side. I continued to wait however, wanting to watch the train leave with my only life support.
A few moments later, the train whistled letting everyone know it was about to leave. My heart sank, I wasn't ready to let my daughter leave, I don't think I'd ever be ready.
I scanned the windows one last time in search of Phoebe and suddenly I spotted her, she was leaning over the door at the end of the train waving ballistically, I beamed. She'd found a way to say one last goodbye and she'll never know how much that meant to me.
I waved enthusiastically back and the train started pulling away, soon she was in line with me and I blew her a kiss. She caught it and placed it on her heart, a little something we've done since she could blow kisses. I watched as her bright blonde hair billowed around her head as the train picked up speed. All too soon, she was gone.
I stood a moment more before I could no longer hold back my tears, they began to flow freely so I dashed back towards the magical wall. As I turned around I crashed into someone and fell tumbling back, smashing my ass onto the floor.
"Hey!" I heard a sharp voice snap, it was husky and deep. I shook my hair out of my eyes and gazed up, looking at who I'd collided with.
"I'm sorry" I said, my eyes travelled up a slim body wearing an immaculate suit. His shoes shone so perfectly, I would have bet anything that I'd see my reflection should I peer into them. Their trousers were pressed to perfection, their white shirt tucked neatly into them. One button on their blazer held it all together and they wore a simple black tie.
My eyes travelled further up their body to their face, I saw a chiselled jaw and plump lips, a straight nose and beautiful grey eyes. Bright blonde hair fell around his face slightly. Clearly from our collision.
"You better be" he spat sharply.
I gulped and stared up at him, not moving a muscle. He huffed and extended a long fingered hand towards me. I took it gently and he heaved me to my feet. I stood in front of him and shivered. I felt suddenly exposed in all the wrong ways.
"Malfoy?" I heard someone call.
His head whipped around towards the voice and nodded once. He turned to peer at me once more, "watch where you're going next time" he whispered. Then he turned on his heel and walked off.
I stood rooted to the spot, I knew exactly who this guy was, and I felt lucky to be alive after I so carelessly walked into him. What was he doing at the platform for Hogwarts?

I closed my door with a slight snap and threw my keys into the little bowl beside it. I hung my jacket next to it and made my way to my kitchen. I needed coffee.
I switched my coffee machine on and busied myself with making a cappuccino. Whilst it poured I opened the mail sat on my kitchen table.
I had a letter from my mother, telling me she'd like to visit over the Christmas holidays (groan!) and one I didn't recognize the handwriting for.
I peeled it open as I grabbed my coffee mug and my heart sank.

I'd been fired? But why? I hadn't done anything I could be fired over. I was a model employee. I crumpled the paper in between my fingers and let it fall to the floor. What was I going to do now?
I looked around my tiny apartment, I could never afford this place. All of a sudden I heard a tap tap on my kitchen window. I rushed over and threw it open, allowing a small barn owl to flutter into my kitchen and onto the table top.
It was my copy of The Daily Prophet, I grabbed my purse and took out a few coins and placed them into the owls pouch. I offered him some water which he gulped gratefully and with a soft hoot, he took flight and soared out my window.
Let's see what was happening in the wizarding world, hopefully something more pitiful was happening to distract myself from my awful life.
Front page was a picture of the famous Harry Potter. He'd received an award for his department in the Ministry, apparently he was the youngest auror and also captured the most dark witches and wizards to date.
Rita Skeeta wrote,
Mr Harry Potter, once know as The Boy Who Lived; The Chosen One; The defeater of The Dark Lord, has become the youngest auror to capture and imprison the most Dark Witches and Wizards to date. It has been seven years since the Battle of Hogwarts and the downfall of The Dark Lord himself and Harry has done nothing but soar in his career.
I turned the page, I didn't want to know how perfect Harry was, everyone already knew that.
I turned the pages lazily until I came upon the 'Jobs Wanted' section. I scanned the page and sighed. Nothing jumped out at me. I didn't have many skills because the past seven years since leaving school, I'd only ever worked at one place.
I'd given Witches Clean seven years of my life to be thrown to the gutter like the garbage I used to clean.
Suddenly I spotted a nanny position, I read the article and groaned. It would have been the perfect job if not for the fact...
Nanny required
After the tragic loss of Mrs Astoria Malfoy, Mr Draco Malfoy now needs a live-in-nanny to help raise his son, Master Scorpius Malfoy.
The position will require twenty-four hour services to the family. A place will be offered at Malfoy Manor to insure such needs are met.
Wages shall be discussed upon meeting, interview will include young Scorpius so you get to meet the boy.
It then gave details on how to contact the family and arrange an interview.
I could never do a live-in-job, I thought helplessly. I knew Malfoy would pay extremely well, but I highly doubted that he'd accept both myself and Phoebe.
I didn't know Malfoy personally, I was a year young than himself so never really met during school. But of course I knew of his reputation. I knew he'd been a death eater alongside his parents. But I also knew he had changed so much in the seven years since The Fall.
He'd married and had a son, obviously, and apparently he was very good friends with The Trio, Harry, Ron and Hermione. Unfortunately his wife lost her battle with her blood curse and died only a few weeks prior to this post.
My heart hurt for him, no matter what kind of person he may have been, no one deserved to lose their wife.
I toyed with the idea of working with him for a few more hours, I was in desperate need of a job, but could I really move myself and Phoebe to Malfoy Manor of all places? Would he even accept me? The meeting only that morning played in front of my mind.
The look of disgust on his face whilst I sat sprawled on the platform seemed to shine bright in my minds eye. He'd never take me on.
I finished my third coffee and decided to write a letter to him anyway. I grabbed a piece of parchment and my quill and, in my neatest handwriting, wrote a brief letter to Malfoy. I rolled it up and sealed it perfectly and placed it by my window waiting for my owl to return home.
I sat on my sofa and chewed at my brightly polished nails, my nerves were on edge. All too soon my owl arrived and I attached my letter to her leg. I sighed and stroked her feathers, what was I doing? She hooted softly and took flight once more. She shouldn't be long because I didn't actually live too far from him.
Soon the sun was setting so I put my fluffy pyjamas on and curled up on the sofa, ready to watch a film.
My thoughts drifted to Phoebe and how she was getting on, what house had she been sorted in to? Had she already made any friends? I wondered how early was too early to send her a letter? I didn't want to smother her, but I needed to know she was okay!
Soon my eyes drooped and sleep overcame me leaving me with the image of my daughters smiling face in my mind.
