It's been two years so I thought it was time to come back to life with a new story.
This one takes place in the Middle Ages, in the Kingdom of Berk. Where we follow the young man fulfill his destiny and Princess Astrid creating her own path. So what are you waiting for?
The first chapter of
The Shadow Of The Dragon
Life is a mystery we can't escape. No matter how much we learn from life we'll never be able to predict our future.
Neither can a young man with the name, Hiccup Haddock. And as he marches through the woods out into open plain fields, he doesn't know the greatness that awaits him. His boots are dirty from traveling far over the mountains in search for his calling.
He stands on the hill with a clear look of the kingdom and finally feels affiliated. He was both excited yet calm, because life isn't a straight line is all over the place. And as he was walking towards the place he'd been searching for he sensed this was the place he was meant to be.
But if only this young dragon master could comprehend the grasp of his importance. You see, the destiny of Berkshire Kingdom rested on this young man's shoulders.
And with his muddy boots he entered Berk. The most glorious kingdom in the Northern Europe. With land from the sea shore to the singing mountains. And in the middle of it all was a marvelous castle with towers in the clouds and water around so deep you couldn't see the bottom. The sunbeams reflected in the white stones making the castle sparkle. This was no ordinary place it was magical.
He walked trough the gates to Berk and found himself surrounded by people. Hiccup came from a small village where a crowd like this would you only see during the harvest. But it was a normal working day and people where running around like chickens with their heads cut off. The life of the town seemed astonishing to Hiccup as he mingled with the town's villagers.
Shops popped up around him where you could by jewelry, spices, weapons and much more. A collection like this had he never seen in his life before. He brought his nose down to smell the spices and a lovely smell of cayenne filled his nostrils.
"Just arrived today" the man explained and Hiccup could almost picture the large cargo ships coming back with exotic products for the kingdom. He would've bought a little bag of spices just to remind him of this moment but he had no money. Therefore he continued walking trough the village.
But as he was walking there peacefully taking in the village a sudden beast came running past him in such a speed he almost lost his balance.
"What the-" he mumbled and looked up. Three knights on white horses came riding through the village uncaring about the peace they're disturbing.
They stopped in the middle of the streets and started throwing something that looked like a belt around. The three knights laughed loudly as a whimpering voiced cane running after them.
"That's not funny" he yelled but the knights didn't seem to care. The servant boy tried grabbing his belt from the knight with black hair but he passed it on to the next one. It was clearly an unfair game as the chevaliers was sitting on horses making it impossible for the servant to get it. Plus the servant wasn't wearing a belt and therefore had to hold up his pants with one hand while trying to grab the belt with the other.
"Please just give it back" Hiccup walked closer to the pleading man and the wicked knights who were laughing loudly.
"Snotlout catch" one of the knights were wearing a helmet coving his face entirely but he looked too small and petite to be a knight or a bully. His dainty little body threw the belt to the cavalier with black hair whose name was Snotlout. He laughed as he caught it and the servant jumped helplessly for it. But as the boy tried grabbing his belt he accidentally let go of his pants and they fell to his knees. The chevaliers laughed as he stood there only in his underwear. Some villagers started laughing as well but not Hiccup.
Hiccup's fits curled up into a ball by the wicked game playing out in front of his eyes.
"Stop that" he yelled. The knights were taking off guard which gave the servant boy a chance to grab his belt and disappear holding his pants up as he ran.
"Who ruined the fun" the elfin knight's voice was as girly as his body. Hiccup almost wanted to laugh by his nonthreatening voice but didn't have the time as he was soon chased by three knights.
Hiccup ran as fast as he could but the knights were faster. People cleared out from the streets as they saw the royal chase. His legs burned but he ignored it and continued running. But human legs can't run as fast as a horse's. And little by little did the knights catch up with him with ease.
Hiccup felt a hand grab the collar of his shirt. The rest all went so fast it took him a minute to comprehend. The dainty night had lifted him from the ground and threw him into a nasty pigsty. Hiccup's face met the mud in one loud splash. Pain struck through his body as he sat up and saw the knights riding away.
"Son of a-" He got up and looked down on his muddy clothes. He was as dirty as the pigs in the pigsty.
"Stupid knights" he mumbled as he tried to brush off the mud.
"Well look what the piggy brought in" He heard a voice say behind him. As he turned around he noticed a woman with blond hair in two braids looking at him with a bucket in her hand.
"Sorry the stupid knights threw me in here" He explained but the annoyed look on the blond woman's face didn't fade.
"Well it doesn't matter how silly they are they're still the protectors of the kingdom. She said defending the knights. Hiccup had a hard time trying to connect the bullies who threw him in here with heroes.
"Then who is going to protect me against the protectors" he joked but the lady didn't find his joke too funny.
"Well you better get cleaned up and get out of my pigsty before I tell the knights to put you in the stock" the woman's voice was fierce.
"Sorry for the disturbance" He said hoping the lady would forgive him. She looked the dirty man up and down and frowned her brows.
"You're new in town aren't you" she said. The town was big and sometimes farmers who lived outside the castles walls would come in to buy supplies but Hiccup did not look like a farmer in her eyes.
"Yeah I traveled here from west" he explained and the woman nodded.
"What brought you to Berk?" She asked and started filling her bucket with water.
"Work" he said half truthfully "I hope I can become a stable boy here".
The woman nodded as he explained. But what the boy let out of the conversation was the voice inside of him that had truly drawn him to Berkshire. It was like his whole heart had beaten for this place.
"Well you can't get a job looking like that" She said and Hiccup laughed. But the next thing did not make him happy as she threw the bucket of water on him. He yelped in surprise as the cold water met his skin and clothes.
"What was that for?" He screamed and now it was her turn to laugh.
"Now you're clean" she said and her blue eyes sparkled.
"Very funny" he said a bit annoyed as he stood there soaked in water.
"It'll dry" she said and put the bucket down "come on I'll show you around".
The girl helped Hiccup up on the wooden planks she was standing on. But she did keep her distance from him as he was soaking wet.
"Thank you, I'm Hiccup by the way" He said with a smile and shook the girl's hand. She looked him up and down another time before nodding.
"That name fits you" she said making Hiccup's eyes narrow.
"Is that a compliment or an insult?"
"Both"
She started walking out of the door and Hiccup followed shortly after. She left without even telling her name. Hiccup followed the strangers back into the streets where he felt people laughing at him from the episode they had just witnessed. He felt embarrassed but the girl he walked beside didn't seem to care one bit that she was walking beside a laughing stock.
"Don't worry these people has the memory of a goldfish" She said which made Hiccup feel a bit better. It would be hard to find work in this town if nobody could take him serious anymore.
"But it's pretty impressive" she continues "first day in town and you've already made a name for yourself".
Hiccup chuckled nervously.
"Yeah well you know better to start early than late".
As they walk through the town the blond girl continues to tell him about the life in the city. How noble men turn into knights here but the most important job of them all will always be the farmers.
"Have you always lived here?" He asked her and she nodded.
"Born and raised, actually all of my ancestors lived here" she explained but her answer reminded Hiccup that he was actually talking to a stranger whom's name he did not know.
"I told you my name why haven't you told me yours?" He asked as they were watching the blacksmith work his magic.
"Right sorry" She said and turned around to face him. She puts her hand out once again ready to shake Hiccup's.
"I'm...
