Espio POV:
Vector, Charmy and I arrived at our home base, seaside hill, and saw that Lusty beach was full of robots who had renamed the red, sandy beach Kamikaze beach. The beach was a mess, I didn't like it.
'I hope you're safe, Beloved.' I thought as me and Team Chaotix tore through robots after robot until the sun went down.
"I'm just so worried." I said. "My beloved is strong, yes, but I've heard that Eggman upgraded his robots to be resistant to magic."
"Aw, don't worry, Esp." Vector reassured me. "As you said, she's a tough gal. She'll hold her own until we get there."
As we progressed, I could see Charmy's innocence starting to fade.
"The beach want this red when we first left, was it?" The child asked.
Vector and I looked at each other, we didn't know how to tell him the sand didn't turn redder by itself.
"We'll tell you when you're older, Charm." Said Vector simply, and Charmy looked at us with some sadness, but understanding.
"Ok." He said.
When we reached the end of Kamikaze beach, no amount of ninja training could've prepared me for what I saw...
I saw my beloved girlfriend, Crystal, covered in blood.
"CRYSTAL!" I shouted and went to support the cat. "Wake up, Beloved!" I begged, my demeanour dropping as I preyed to Tikal she was still alive.
"I'm so sorry, Esp." Said Vector sympathetically as he put a hand on my back.
"Oh no..." gasped Charmy. "She must be very sleepy."
I sighed to myself, Charmy didn't understand, he was too young. Some reason returning, I put a finger to her neck and I felt her pulse. She was still alive! I sighed again, but this time out of relief.
"Keep resting, Beloved," I whispered to her, "Me and my friends will get you somewhere safe." I scooped her up, holding her close to me. "I promise. Nothing like this'll ever happen to you again."
And with that, Charmy, Vector, Crystal and I returned to our jet and flew back to base.

"We got an emergency!" Vector shouted as we burst into the base.
"What's wrong?" Asked Tails as he turned away from his screen.
"It's Espio's girlfriend," Said Charmy, "She's asleep and won't wake up!"
"She's still alive, though." I announced as I handed her to Sally.
"I'll take her to our ER," Said Sally, "And, if you'd like, you can have some time off missions so you can sit with her."
"I'd like that." I said as I followed Sally and Crystal into the ER.
I sat by her side for a while, hoping for an action, a word, a sign that she hadn't died on the way up here.
"Please," I pleaded to my sleeping beauty, "Please, Crystal, don't leave me like my father did. I need you, my beloved." And, for the first time since I grew up at five years old, I cried. I cried all over her.
My girlfriend, my beloved, my Crystal, was gone. That is, until I heard a faint voice coming from her.
"Es...pi...o?"
