Everyone was shocked to hear that the world beyond the portal was so close to Earth (50 light years are nothing in a cosmic scale) especially the lomorians.
"So if I observe the night sky from Earth i could see where I am from?" Whispered Cassiria to Giovanni.
"Yes, but you will see it 50 years in the past because light has a finite speed. In fact, 50 light years from Earth means that if you travel at the speed of light, the fastest thing in the universe, you would reach it in 50 years." Explained Giovanni in a quiet tone in order to not disturb the meeting.
"The portal was probably built in order to have a faster link between our planets but we don't know how and why." He finished explaining.
Meanwhile...
"Remember to look at the night sky and you could see Apollo 2026." Said a news reporter that was commenting the images of the meeting.
"God knows how many alien civilizations could be out of here...."
Going back to the meeting...
"It's strange... We are so far from home but yet so close..." Thought Lord Selfrud.
"It's exciting... I can't wait to tell my family everything that happened during this journey." Thought Valentinia.
Even the two servants, Lisaria and Rudolph, and the knight Setor were amazed by the revelation that their worlds were so close but they kept their composture.
"Thank you Dr. Wilson for the informations that you shared with us. Now you could take your leave." Said the General Secretary.
"Going back to the main topic, what should we do next?" Asked the Secretary.
"If I may, I propose to open a shared embassy in the capital of the Lomor Empire that has the UN flag." Proposed Lord Enric.
"In this way, every country on Earth would be represented." He continued.
"Good idea! Let's have it voted." Said the General Secretary.
Then, the idea was voted and approved but not without hesitation.
"We will also keep an armed patrol to protect it that has the UN banner." Continued the General Secretary.
"I think that for this you will need my father's approval but I will try to obtain it" Said the princess.
"I also propose that the current deals continue to be valid (scientists in the Lomor Empire, trade, ....) and that soon tourism would start." Said the General Secretary.
This proposal passed with less difficulty.
