The Blue Eyed Gilbert

Kol's POV
I'm on my way to Chicago looking for Melanie. Yeah... Turns out she has been gone for nearly 6 months. Damon hurt her apparently. I got to the motel she was staying at and went to the receptionist. I look her in the eyes and compel her saying,
"Tell me what room Melanie Gilbert is in."
"There was no Gilbert here. There was only Melanie Corden. She isn't here. She was placed into the mental institute about 5 miles away from here. She went bonkers." I rush out and start making my way there. Why was she placed there? She went mental? I knock on the door and a woman in her late 20s answers the door.
"Hi. May I help you?"
"Yeah actually. My friend, Melanie, was placed in here? I was wondering if I could see her."
"Yeah sure but be careful. She has a reputation of hitting people and shouting out random things." I nod and follow her. She opens a door and I walk in. The walls made of rubber as well as the floor. Melanie is sat in the middle of the room staring off into space.
"Melanie?" I repeat and repeat but she don't answer. I walk up to her and crouch at eye level. She snaps out her trance and she looks at me before making a charging noise and tackling me to the ground. I flip her over and hold her down. She tries to get out my grip but then stops. I cautiously get off her and she gets up. She starts skipping around the room and singing 'Never Close Our Eyes' by Adam Lambert. I watch her curiously.
"Ohhhh. Kol. Guess what guess what guess what?" She asks coming over to me shaking me.
"What?" I ask.
"You are a giraffe." She replies then burst out into a fit of giggles. What was funny about that?
"Melanie? Why were you put in here?"
"Well you see... IwentmentalreallyfastandputmeinadifferentroombutthentheysaiditcouldcausedamagetomywellbeingandsoputmeinherewhereIcanthurtmyself." She replies really fast.
"What? Slow down."
"I went mental really fast and put me in a different room but then they said it could cause damage to my well being and so put me in here where I can't hurt myself." She slows down. I nod taking in the information.
"Wow. Ok. Urm. Lets get you out of here." I grab her hand and went to pull her out except, she pulled back.
"I belong here Kol. Don't take me away."
"You don't belong here. You need to come home." I reply.
"No! I belong here! Get out! Get out! Get out!" She screams at me and when I don't budge, she runs at me and punches me repeatedly in the face. I try to hold her back but it don't work. She is strong. Nurses come rushing in and they pull her off me.
"Get out!" A nurse demands. Melanie tries getting out their grip but there are too many of them.
"I am not leaving. She is my friend." I say.
"Well she don't want you here and neither do we so I suggest you get out." A different nurse demands.
"What happens if I don't?" I push.
"You will never be able to see her again but with the way she is acting toward you then I suggest you do get out." They inject Melanie with something and Melanie becomes unconscious.
"What did you do to her?!" I shout.
"Relax. We just knocked her out so she can calm down and not hurt anyone." A nurse replies.
"She wouldn't hurt anyone." I say calmer this time.
"really? Then why, yesterday, did she punch a nurse in the face for trying to give her her medicine? Why does she hit every nurse that comes in here?" They push.
"Because she wants out of here." I reply.
"Just get out before I phone the cops." The same nurse from the start says. I look at Melanie and sigh. I should have known of her state earlier. I sigh again and walk out the door. I'm coming back tomorrow for definite. I get a motel room and lie on the bed taking out my phone. I send a text to Elijah, Rebekah and Niklaus.
'Found Melanie. She is in the Chicago mental institute. She has apparently become mentally ill. Need your help. Get here tomorrow so we can convince her to come home.' I hit send and shut off my phone. I close my eyes and fall asleep.
