Calem POV
I waited at the airport for my best men to arrive, both of whom I haven't seen in person since the incident for one reason or another. Eventually I saw the gang, Brendan, Elio, Lillie, May, Selene, and Dawn were all on that same plane. I opened my arms out and ran to them. I gave Elio a hug first, in front of Lillie who had been pushing him. I then cycled through giving Brendan, then Lillie, then May, then Selene then Dawn hugs of their own. I smiled, "So good to see you guys. Arceus knows I've missed ya." Elio smiled back, "Good to see you too man. You excited for today? It should be pretty cool... Well I'm sure it won't be half as cool as what Brendan and I set up for you but y'know." I laughed, "Nah, never." Lillie looked at May, "Still can't believe they pulled that off." May nodded, "I know. Me neither." I began to walk, "Right, right. So glad you're all here, we've got a lot to prepare for. Whole team will be arriving soon. I'm not even wearing my suit." They all nodded and we walked off.
We went to the beach in front of professor Kukui and Burnet's house and entered the tent set up for me and the best men. So left in here were just me, Elio, Brendan, and Ethan. Ethan looked at me, "So what do you need us to do? I can't say I've ever been to one of these before." I chuckled, "Stand there and look pretty essentially, and you can make a speech if you want to. Any of you doing that?" Brendan and Elio both nodded, I scoffed, "Figured you guys would, both of you guys have the captain side effect of not shutting up." Brendan pointed back, "One you know all too well." I laughed, "Touche."
Serena POV
I looked around in the tent, with me are Lillie, Dawn, May, Selene, and my Mom. I twirled around once in the dress I had picked out. It was very traditional, but it has some gold trim on it. It trails pretty far behind me. I looked over to my bridesmaids, "What do you think?" May sighed, "You look so beautiful Serena!" My Mom nodded, "For sure!" Lillie smiled, "I think you made the perfect choice." Dawn chuckled, "I have no idea. But I bet it's pretty great if those 3 think so." I giggled, "Thank you! I spent so long on my hair for this... Any of you guys gonna speak up there?" May smiled, "I'd like to if you wouldn't mind." My mom also said she would. I smiled, "Please do! Unless you're objecting, then don't." Dawn jokingly raised her hand and then lowered it. I sighed, "I'm super nervous about this." Lillie sat down, "I'm feeling nervous too, I'm not even doing anything!" I looked to my Mom, "Any advice?" She smiled, "Don't stress. Everyone knows what we're here for. You know what you're here for." I nodded, "Ok! I'm about ready... Gotta go through my vows one more time..."
Calem POV
Professor Kukui was the one officiating our wedding, so he stood in front of the crowd of all our friends. He chuckled, he obviously knows everyone in the crowd. He began, "We're gathered here today to join two wonderful people, and friends of ours, in the bond of marriage. Those two people being Calem Xavier, and Serena Yvonne. They asked me to be the officiant because they met together through the team I was coaching that year. Partially, anyway. So, will the ring bearer please join us? I had Lyra be the ring bearer, she stepped forward and held the rings in front of the altar. The sparkling blue water of Alola and bright blue sky to match providing the warm backdrop for our wedding. He smiled, "Alright, groomsmen and bridesmaids please!" Elio's wheelchair didn't work on sand so the audience laughed as Brendan and Ethan had him laid between them and they carried him up, Elio laughed and posed in that position, he was having a great time. I couldn't contain my smile. They placed him in a chair facing the audience next to them. The girls gathered on Serena's side of the altar. Kukui pointed to me, "And now, introducing...! Nah I'm just kidding, come on Cal!" I walked forward on the mat in between the two sections of the crowd in the white chairs. I received a few high fived and short 'Congratulations' from the people there. I stood up front and took a deep breath. Try not to explode when you see her Calem. Try not to explode.
Kukui signaled the organist and pointed to Serena's tent. "Here Comes The Bride" began, and I absolutely beamed as Serena was escorted out by her Mom. Serena was wearing an absolutely stunning white dress with gold trim. I felt my heart beat accelerate, that's my fiance. That is actually my fiance. How did this happen? The crowd gasped and wowed as she walked out, and a flock of Swanna (One of those might be Skyla's, I'll have to ask her) flew above, drawing more gasps. Serena stood sheepishly in front of me, her face still beautiful behind the veil. I whispered, "You look stunning." She sighed, "You do too."
Kukui then started, "We have a few people who would like to speak about our beloved couple here today, so first, May Birch would like to share some words about our couple." May shuffled up nervously, all the bridesmaids wore pink dresses in contrast to the black suits my groomsmen are wearing (Mine is blue). She stood in front, "Hey...uh... So I met Calem and Serena around the same time a little over 2 years ago in Pasio. I wasn't a part of the battling team at the time, so I mostly knew the both of them as classmates. I got to know Serena really well that first year, she was always so thoughtful, and always wanted the best for her friends. She found someone in Calem that gave that love back to her. I got to know Calem that year too, as a passionate captain, and someone who had Serena's best interests always close to his heart. I wish you two nothing but happiness and a lovely marriage for the rest of your lives." Everyone clapped as May blushed brightly and filed back in.
Next up to speak were Brendan and Elio at the same time. I'm sure this will go off without a hitch. Brendan began, "Well I personally never thought it would happen, but someone tolerated Calem enough to spend more than an hour with him." Lots of laughs as I jokingly rolled my eyes, Elio continued, "Yeah, when I met Calem years ago, we became fast friends as starters. I got to watch as he grew closer with Serena that year, I couldn't believe it. Calem, sometimes you drone on for so long, it comes close to letting me stand up and walk out!" I groaned as the audience laughed again. Brendan chuckled then continued, "No but seriously, you've been a great friend Calem. Glad you found your soulmate here. We miss ya in Pasio man, but we know you're out there living the dream." Elio smiled, "I wish all the best to you and Serena, as far as I'm concerned we're all family, so please drop by any time you're around." They went back and Serena and I laughed with each other now that the Roast of Calem was concluded.
Finally to speak was Serena's mom, Kukui announced her, "And our last speaker, Serena's mother, Grace Yvonne!" Grace walked out in front of the crowd and grabbed the microphone, she was already crying a little bit, "Sorry, I'm just so happy for my Serena. She found someone in Calem that cares for her to such a level that I've never seen before. Serena always wanted someone who was loyal, dependable, considerate, and available, and Calem has been all those things and more. He's the perfect husband for my Serena, and I couldn't be happier that they met. Serena, you are so beautiful and such an amazing young woman, I'm so happy for you. And Calem, thank you, and welcome, officially, to the family!" She sat back down and I felt so honored. I'm so glad to have her, she's so supportive of us.
Kukui motioned Serena and I to the altar and we both stood with Lyra beaming as she held the shimmering gold rings on the pillow. Kukui then looked to me, "Calem, if you would like to make your vows." I took a deep breath and began, "Serena. I vow to always love you the way I do now. I've never felt this way about anyone before, and I know you're the one for me. I'm so eternally thankful that I met you. I vow to look out for you, and always make you comfortable, if there's ever a problem you can't handle, I vow to help you with it or do the best I can. I'm always going to give you my best, and I can't wait to spend forever with you."
Serena smiled back, "Calem. A lot of things moved so fast in our relationship, but I wouldn't take back any of it. I can barely remember what drove me to go to Pasio, but through it all, it has felt like the right thing. It felt so validated when I met you and got to know you. My heart felt so settled. I vow to always be there for you when you need me, like you have been for me. I truly feel complete when I'm around you, so I vow to spend as much time with you as I can, and to make sure we share more moments together. Thank you for being the best Calem, I'm gonna do my best too."
Everyone knows I don't cry, or at least I try my best not to because I don't like people looking at me. But man it is hard right now. I feel so lucky to be here right now it's so unbelievable. I smiled weakly at Serena. Then Kukui opened his arms out to both of us, "So, I ask you, Calem, do you take Serena to be your lawfully wedded wife, in sickness and in health, til death do you part?" I nodded, "I do." He then turned to Serena, "Serena, do you take Calem to be your lawfully wedded husband, in sickness and in health, til death do you part?" She replied slowly and happily, "I do." Kukui looked at Lyra who handed us our rings and then dipped away saying, "congratulations" I nodded back. I slipped the ring on Serena's finger, then she slipped hers on mine. Kukui smiled and said excitedly, "Now then, you may kiss the bride!"
I stepped forward and slowly and carefully removed the veil from Serena's face. I smiled wide as her beautiful face met mine. I leaned in and she met me half way as we shared a kiss in front of the crowd who clapped and cheered for us. We separated and Kukui yelled, "I now pronounce you, Mr. And Mrs. Xavier! May the rest of your lives be filled with happiness!" I raised Serena's hand with mine and the crowd cheered and stood up. We happily walked down the aisle hand in hand as blue and red flower petals fell from the sky.
We walked for a while to the reception, which would be held in Iki Town. We had all kinds of food and a dance floor and tables set up for people to enjoy, it got dark in the way but the town was lit by torches. Serena and I sat at a table overlooking the reception. I looked over to her, "This everything you dreamed of?" She smiled, "Yes!" I kissed her, "Good." Skyla walked up to us, "Congrats guys! I'm so happy for you!" Serena gushed, "Thank you so much Skyla! You're the best!" She waved her hands, "No not at all! You guys deserve it. When are you guys heading to Lental?" I remembered, "Tomorrow morning! I'm really looking forward to it." Skyla nodded, "Well let me know when you guys are back in Mistralton if you need anything. I'll be there." We both thanked her and she went to mingle. Celeste approached us, "Congratulations you two! You're such a cute couple." Serena giggled, "Thanks Miss Celeste, thanks for keeping me this whole time too." She shook her head, "My pleasure. I met your mother as well Serena, she's very kind... Calem, I don't mean to be nosy or anything, but are your parents around?" I shook my head, "It's fine. No they're not. They uh... They're not so high on me." Celeste's face dropped, "Oh. I'm sorry to hear that Calem. You're a wonderful guy. You two stay out of trouble alright?" She walked away.
Many more came up to see us including Hau, Hop, Rosa, Lillie and Elio, Brendan and May, Dawn, Lucas, Ethan, Lyra, and more. But the day was finally over so Serena and I stayed the night at the Hano Grand Resort on Akala Island after the festivities were done. It's a beautiful place, and we loved staying there when we were together for the conference playoffs 2 years ago. I tucked in to bed and Serena did as well. I looked at her, "You're so beautiful. Thanks for marrying me Serena." She closed her eyes and began to doze off, "Thank you too Calem. I'm so happy." Me too Serena. Me too.
