Hatred, that's how Uchiha Sasuke used to describe his feelings towards the world, hatred that's what he felt, hatred that's what he saw and what people felt around him.
But even his devious efforts were not enough to make Naruto leave him alone or stop considering him as his friend.
Every time Naruto tried to save him from his darkness, he used to push him away but the knucklehead ninja never backed down.
Because that's his nindo, I won't run away. I never go back on my word.
Naruto never stopped considering Sasuke as his friend, just like Sakura who never stopped loving him.
At times they hated Sasuke's actions but their hearts knew better that it was a broken boy, lost in the shadows of his massacred clan and the building hatred towards his brother. He loves so much.
Hate and love are two opposite things yet they carry the same feelings with different motives at heart. Sasuke carried both emotions for his beloved elder brother, who he thought betrayed him, their clan, and his parents.
Carrying such powerful emotions from such a young age, turned Sasuke into a selfish, revenge-hungry, and isolated person. He pushed away his love for Itachi by letting his hate overpower his heart in an attempt to forget the person he used to admire so much.
That attempt was successful, but at what cost?
It cost me everything, Sasuke thought solemnly.
Naruto and Sakura will always be there for him, no doubt but the damage has been done, scars marked deep in the soul of that one girl he wanted to run away from because she scared him.
The feelings she made him feel, scared him to the point that he knew- she was his biggest weakness. That added more to the reasons why he should push her away and pretend that his love for her never existed. It just vanquished in the form of his hatred towards his brother.
But now everything was crashing down on him after being brought into the light, which he refused to acknowledge earlier.
Naruto beat sense into his blindsided best friend, even if it cost him his arm. He'll gladly do that again.
Sasuke can't be more grateful for a friend like Naruto that he feels ashamed to even look him in his eyes after everything he did. With gratitude, the debt in his heart for Naruto's action seems to be increasing as well.
The bruised and wounded hands, fitted perfectly together forming a unison sign as they undid the infinite Tsukuyomi cast upon the world.
The bandages unfurled themselves, as the branches broke and fell. People were raised from their slumber questioning reality but one look at each other and they knew, they have won the fourth great shinobi war.
After everyone was released from the jutsu Kakashi took Naruto to help him balance while standing, leaving Sakura with Sasuke.
Sakura looked at him under her eyelashes, only to find him already looking at her with a soft look she couldn't decipher.
She nudged her eyes towards Naruto and Kakashi silently asking if they can also go now if he was okay.
Sasuke nodded, attempting to stand but failed miserably as Sakura came to his rescue. She placed his weak arm over her shoulder, helping him balance on his feet like Naruto.
"Daijōbu?". Sakura asked, eyeing the Uchiha who looked deadbeat.
"Hn". Sasuke replied, leaning on Sakura.
She clutched onto his waist as all the four members made their way towards the battlefield where everyone was waiting for them.
Arigato Kami, Sakura showed her gratitude towards the all mighty god. She felt relieved that none of her team members died in this vicious battle of darkness and light.
And he is back, not the same but he is back. Better than before.
Together team 7 entered the buzzing battlefield of confused shinobi's wondering what went down after the Infinite Tsukuyomi was cast when all of them gasped seeing the bloodied duo in the arms of their comrades.
Hinata's eyes nearly bulged out of her sockets but when she noticed Naruto laughing so freely after so long and the slight knowing smile on Sasuke's face, she knew there was nothing to be worried about.
"Naruto! Sasuke! Oi Kami, what did you both do while we were in this dreamland?". Shikamaru questioned, limping between Choji and a worried Ino who can't seem to move away from her eyes from the cut-off arm of Sasuke.
But when her gaze landed on Sakura beside him, she felt relieved. She is the best medical ninja, there's nothing for Ino to be worried about now. Nor was there a tinge of jealousy as she had already accepted the fact that her fantasy of Sasuke will always be a fantasy.
"Ah, nothing Shikamaru! Just a bit of disagreement to an agreement -ttebayo". Some raised their eyebrows in question while some shook their heads only to join in his laughter.
"It's good to be back dattebayo!". Everyone shouted in agreement while the five Kage silently observed Sasuke. They were still skeptical of the rogue ninja.
"We shall return to our villages, shouldn't we Naruto?". Gaara came from behind, lending a hand to balance Naruto with a gentle smile as the blonde nodded.
Before his eyes landed on the ravenette, "Welcome back Uchiha Sasuke!". Gaara greeted softly, I knew he could do it.
Sasuke was a bit surprised for being greeted this warmly which just added more to his guilt as he nodded in acknowledgment.
"But I am sorry, we will have to restraint you. I hope you can understand the procedure". Gaara spoke on the behalf of every other Kage who was observing the rogue ninja, mentally preparing for him to do something in retaliation but his participation in his restraint shocked the Kages, except Tsunade who knew Sasuke was never evil just lost.
"Ah! Look at my precious student suddenly becoming nice, I couldn't be more intrigued S-Sasuke". Orochimaru popped out of nowhere with Suigetzu, Jugo, and Karin nearly scaring off the people around them.
Naruto tumbled back taking Kakashi and Gaara with him when Shino used his insects to help them balance and save them from a nasty fall.
"Holy shit -ttebayo, you scared me creepy snake sanin". Naruto burst open and Kakashi rolled his eyes.
"Ah! We would need to restraint these four also". Gaara added with widen eyes, observing the popped-up rouge ninjas.
Sasuke ignored all of them, looking ahead of himself. Prepared for his fate.
"Huh, why? After the help we gave, don't you think it's a bit unfair". Orochimaru chuckled darkly and everyone got scared while Suigetzu melted in a puddle trying to get away. However, Karin stepped on him.
"Where do you think you are going huh?". Suigetzu cursed the red-headed Uzumaki before reforming himself in his human form.
Karin shook her head when her eyes landed on Sasuke, "Oh Sasukeee-Kun!!". Karin shouted, blowing off Suigetzu's ears while Orochimaru never stopped smiling, creeping everyone out.
Karin stepped in Sasuke's direction but before she could do anything, she was restrained by the Hyuga members under a chakra lock accomodating to her abilities as she screamed and thrashed trying to free herself.
The other three were also restrained, however after giving much thought to Sasuke's current condition, they refrained from restraining him right now, as treating those wounds comes first or they'll catch an infection.
Instead, they put a blindfold on his eyes, to suppress his Kekkei Genkai.
All this while Sakura stood by his side, silently listening to everyone rant. She could have walked away now that they were on the battlefield with other shinobi but she chose to stand by his side, just like she always has.
