(This sonnet is surprisingly and almost embarrassingly INFORMAL. I just wanted to throw that out there. I'd never normally use words like 'guys' in my poetry, you see.)

You guys can be out there,
boosting your snapchat scores
while I'm here writing poetry
and pretty, pristine prose.
Indulge in shallow culture, it's okay
and miss out on living a wholesome life, it's fine.
You'll be glued to a screen for most of your life anyway,
but it's not like that's my problem,
no, not mine.
Keep posting pictures of dunking donuts,
or insincere happy birthday wishes advertised through your stories,
while I'll be drinking from coconuts,
cherishing nature and the outdoors, entering new territories.
As long as you're happy in this lonely, modern world.
We're not really alive, 'living' through screens, necks curled.
