You made it to the local mall that you loved.
"I'm not gonna say there's a whole lot to do here, but there are some good stores around." You rambled, leading Buster to the entrance.
"That's alright," he said, "I don't really care about the shopping- just that we get to do this together." You blushed.
"Wow! That's... really sweet." You said, casually interlocking your fingers with Buster's as you walked. One storefront caught your attention, and you walked a little faster trying not to drag Buster behind you. "Oo! This place is fun. They have new stuff all the time." You exclaimed, immediately trying to take everything in at once when you got inside. At this point Buster had let you go off on your own to dart between the small aisles. You didn't notice but he was smiling wide, admiring how easily excited you got. After moving to the last aisle, you waved him over to show him something that caught your eye.
"Check out these joke mugs! If I didn't already have a lot of mugs and stuff I would totally get a couple." You said, picking out a random one, laughing as you showed him the 'hazardous waste' label on the front. You took turns trying to find the funniest one. By the time you had looked through most of them, you were really eyeing all the new t-shirts. "Oh, what do you think of these?" You asked, pointing over to where they were.
"Fun! I uh, I guess I don't really wear many casual clothes these days." Buster commented. You gasped.
"Whaaat? But they're so comfy!" You faked a little frown. "C'mon, we should try some on!" You looked for a second then pulling a shirt out, "-Like this one! What do you think, would it look good on me?" You held a t-shirt against your chest that had a really abstract picture of a skyline on it.
"I think anything would look good on you." Buster said. You felt a little shiver go up your spine. He definitely didn't mean that in the way that you thought.
"Ha! Stop it, there's gotta be something here that would look awful... watch-" you shook away the feeling you got as you grabbed another one, holding up. The fabric was an almost nausea-inducing neon green. "Eh?"
"Wow, ok, I stand corrected." He joked. You put the shirts back, scanning for some that might be nice.
"Look at these!" You removed another shirt. This one was a deep purple, with a big golden moon in the center.
"Oh! I do like that one." He said.
"Right?" You gasped, "Hey, we should both get one so we can match!"
Buster laughed a little, agreeing to try it on. You waited patiently by the fitting room, rocking on your feet. He finally came back out with the shirt on and you tried your best not to squeeze him to death. "Buster! You look so cute!!" He was shocked by your sudden reaction.
"Y-you think so?"
"Of course! Purple is a great color on you." You winked. He tried to cover his face as he blushed. You giggled, "Come on, I'll get one too and then we can keep looking around." You gave him time to get changed again as you found your size, receiving a string of awkward 'thank you's from him as you bought the shirts. You kept walking hand in hand.
"You know you really didn't have to-" you cut Buster off before he could continue,
"Buster, why do you keep saying that? Have to doesn't matter right now. I want to. I like getting things for you, and I want to make you happy."
He seemed to think through his next words.
"I just... I hope you don't think I'm only happy because of the things you give me."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean," he paused, catching your gaze, "you make me happy. Just you." You blinked. You hadn't really thought about it, but maybe you needed to hear that.
"...Thank you." You said, and he smiled sweetly at you. As much as you were enjoying the moment you felt you should release the tension, "-that won't stop me from dressing you up though!" He laughed as you pulled him into a hug.
"Alright, alright. Where to next?" He asked. You continued to walk through the mall, stopping every once in a while to look around in a shop.
"Oh, can we go in there?" He said, pointing to a thrift store. You squinted.
"Um... you think you'd like something in there?"
"Absolutely not."
You laughed, "I like the way you think." You ran into the store, not entirely sure what to look at. It quickly became another competition, to find the most unlikely outfits that either of you would wear. You both collected a pile of clothes, heading to fitting rooms across from each other and initiating a ridiculous fashion show. You both emerged with your first outfits. You had found a frilly dress that was covered in as many garish sequins as it could hold.
"Whats the verdict?" You asked as Buster came out in his outfit.
"I think you've got me beat. That's bad." You laughed when you saw Buster in an awful Christmas sweater and a pair of bright striped jeans.
"Oh my gosh. Are you sure? I can barely look at you." You said. You agreed that the first round was a tie. Both of you kept showing off different combos, until either of you could barely stand from laughing. You finally returned in the last pair of clothes you had.
"Ok, what do you think of this one?" Buster said, coming out looking like an 80's jock. He wore an oversized puffy letterman jacket and tight ripped jeans, topped off with sunglasses. You couldn't help but laugh even more.
"Gotta admit, that is pretty great. Although I think you looked better in a Speedo."
A deep blush shot across Buster's face from the sudden tease.
"P-pardon?" You could watch him get flustered all day.
"Ha! Come on, let's put these back." Buster fumbled around to collect the clothes, and you quickly did the same. Before you left, you grabbed something that caught your eye.
"What's that?" Buster asked, leaning past you at the checkout.
"I found this cool leather bracelet. I'm gonna get it for Ash." You said as the cashier bagged it.
"Oh- that's nice of you!"
"Well, I try." You giggled as you kept walking. You soon spotted another store that looked interesting. "Oo, do you think we should go in there?" Buster looked where you were directing.
"Wow. That stuff looks awfully nice." He said, thoughtful.
"Yeah, they always seem to have really cool suits in there. I'd love to get one for myself but they don't really carry my size." You trailed off.
"Anyway, we should definitely look in there! Last one, I promise. I bet we could find one that looks really good on you." Even though he was a bit reluctant to go somewhere that seemed so expensive, he agreed and followed you in. You looked around, trying to think of where to start.
