BRIANNA
I awaken to do my daily check ups and the nurse want to wake Isaac up but I stop them. He looked too peaceful and this might be the only time where he sleeps peacefully without night terrors or insomnia.
After my daily check, the doctors let Jax and Katy in.
"Hi." Katy hugs me tight but not too tight. Jax follows her and hugs me too but doesn't leave my side.
"Is he still sleeping?" He asks pointing to Isaac.
My head nods skeptically. Why, I ask in my head.
"Let's do this." He rubs his hands together but I stop him. I frown at him and he throws his hands up.
"Come on, Bri. I never get to do this because he sleeps like a veteran soldier. He's never been a heavy sleeper, this time he decided to do heavy sleeping and I come to visit you, it's a sign."
I roll my eyes and sigh. I remove my hands from him and gesture for him to go ahead.
Jaxon coats his finger with his saliva and shoves it in Isaac's ear. He jumps up and presses his hand against his ear, glaring at Jax. Isaac wipes at his ear while his best friend snickers behind Katy.
Katy and I share a look. Boys.
"It's not funny when you do it." He deadpans and Jaxon throws his hands in surrender. Carter turns to me and points at Jaxon. "You let him do that?"
I shrug my shoulders with a smile but the action cause the neck brace to move and graze against my sensitive skin. I flinch.
"Don't do that, you'll hurt yourself." He warns and gets up to adjust my pillow. I watch him fix it and fuss over if they are fluffy enough or if I'm comfortable.
He truly was sweet. To me. I've never seen him have the same attitude towards Jax or Stephen. Simply because they are all boys and they equally insult each other. Last night I saw multiple texts from a group chat with Stephen, Jax, and Isaac in it. One trip erupted into three best friends.
I wouldn't say I wasn't surprised. Isaac follows wherever Jax goes in terms of friendship since he can't make his own without them being offended. Jax is like an Isaac interpreter.
""Brianna are you okay?" You sound not like yourself." Jax mocks and laughs.
"You won't look like yourself if you don't stop talking." Isaac threatens and pours me a glass of water.
He lifts my chin up to drink.
"I think she can drink of her own." Katy muses. Isaac glowers before handing me the glass of water. I take it with a smirk and try to drink as much as I can without it hurting.
I do know how to drink on my own but it's cute seeing him fuss about me.
"Why don't you and Jax go get breakfast? I'm starving." Katy pats her stomach and pouts at Jax. He places a kiss on her pout and guides his hand to her lower back.
"I can eat." Jax shrugs.
"You guys can go but get her something soft but not yogurt. Maybe get some of the baby food stuff to be sure of the softness. Don't get too much because she can't eat it all, but maybe she'll get something from the hospital." He rambles and tries to fix the bed.
Jax looks at him stunned, while holding Katy. She herself looked equally as stunned by Isaac rambling.
"Okay...it seems the hospital is making Isaac go crazy." Katy comments and Isaac rolls his eyes. "You and Jaxon can go get breakfast for the three of us."
I scribble on my white board.
Hospital will get me food.
I show it to Katy and Isaac peers over to see what's written.
"See? So no need to worry, she's with me and Ryan is coming over later."
Isaac turns to me and ignores Katy's words. He leans down to me and whispers so low I don't even think I caught what he was saying.
"You're going to be fine?" He asks gently.
I nod my head once and he glances down to my lips. My heart races as he kisses me so softly, his lips like pillows against mine. So soft I didn't feel his lips on mine, I just knew that he kissed me.
"We get it, let's go loser." Jax pulls Isaac away and I smile at his glare towards Jax.
After they leave Katy takes a seat next to me and rests her head on her folded arms.
"I don't want to be this person but I told you so." She heaves dreamy sigh.
"What did you tell me?" I wrote on the board and showed it to her.
"That you had a thing for the hottest guy in school. Right after Jaxon of course." She quickly adds and blushes profusely at his name.
"I don't" I frown and she wipes the board. She takes the marker and writes in capitalized letters, YES U DO
I roll my eyes at her with a tiny smile. Maybe I do have a thing for him but it's not big.
Unlike other things...
"You had sex." Katy gasps and stands up abruptly. She paces around with a smile on her face. "Jaxon owes a shopping spree."
"What do you mean, I had sex?" My marker squeaks along the whiteboard with the urgency.
How does Katy know? Why is Jax owing her a shopping spree?
She dances for a short while and I hurt my throat trying not to laugh. She looks at the board and composes herself. She takes a deep breath and exhales a screech.
"You have that look on your face. I know it when I see it. You're in love." Her high pitched squeal sends a grimace to my face.
Something makes my face fall and I remember where my mind was before he came by. What I was talking with my mother about. I completely forgot.
I swallow the guilt and fear like a dry pill. "What's wrong?"
Katy's words were muffled while I was occupied with the voices in my head. I raised my hands on my face and dragged it down in exhaustion.
"Talk to me."
I'm scared. I admit with each stroke of the marker on board.
"Of what?"
His mom. She frowns at the message and gives a small nervous laugh.
"Ben, Beth, Aunt Zuri, and Karl made sure she was confined. She won't be here to hurt you." Her comforting hand and equally warn words should have been enough to convince me but it wasn't.
The pound of my chest everytime I think of her is enough to stray me away. My blood runs cold everytime I think that she'll see me and Isaac together and want to...harm me just to get to him.
I'm going to break up with Isaac.
"The hell you're not. Brianna Jackson please think this through." She panicked and pleaded.
"Think what through?" Isaac asked with a smile. Behind him was Jax, Ryan, and Stephen.
All their eyes darted to board in my hand with the words perfectly visible and in bold. I quickly wiped it and with rushed movements tried to erase everything that happened.
I heard something drop at the same time my neck started burning. I had been rubbing the against it. It was irritated.
"Brianna..." Isaac's whisper came forth and I flinched.
"Katy let's go." Was all I heard before Isaac wrapped his arms around me to stop.
It shouldn't have gone like this. I would've sat him down and told him everything. This was also highly embarrassing but he held me down.
"Talk to me." He begged. "Please just- I don't understand."
You wouldn't understand.
He's not the one she'll hurt. It's me and any other girl he's with. She has this obsession that runs more than skin deep. She wants to be with him in a way a mother shouldn't want to with her son.
"Is it something I did? Or said? Do I smell?" I smile sadly at his joke.
I pick up the board and begin to write, I think but I stop because it's too many words for a whiteboard. I risk everything the doctor told me not to do and gesture him to lean down.
He leans down and I weave my hand through his hair to get it out of the way.
"Not safe." My breathy whisper cracks at the end which makes him look up and cast a worried glance in my way.
"Who? You?"
My meek nod must have made him laugh.
"You have your mother, my dad, and me to keep you safe." He insists but it's not enough. I still don't feel safe. I feel like she'd barge in this room, at the dead of night, and choke me till the color on my face drains out. "Why do you want to break up with me?"
I grab the board and marker. Coz, if she sees me with you, I'm not safe.
"But she's in jail. She has nothing to do with me. Even if she does try something, I'll be there to protect you."
But are you enough?
Please just let it be.
"No, I don't think I can." He takes a step back immediately stealing the warmth I've been clinging onto. "Don't I get a say in this?"
What do you want to say?
"I lo-" my heart skipped a beat with anticipation on what he was going to say but my mother practically kicking the door down cut him off.
He turned his head towards her but I still kept my eyes on him.
"You're safe." She sighed and came up to my bed. I hugged her as she held me tight and kissed my head.
"Why wouldn't she be?"
She looked up at him with tears in her eyes. Her lips tight against each other with distress and I know when she let's her hair loose, whenever she's stressed.
"Your mom escaped."

My physical therapist, Nate, was helping me be able to turn my neck to the side. It hurt like a bitch to just move it in the slightest. The skin would stretch and a burning sensation would tickle on the base of my throat. I felt like crying.
"No, don't cry. Listen, we'll take it slow okay?" He said before he stood up and gently held my head. "Okay, so I'll hold your head and when it hurts just tell me."
I hold a thumbs up. He slowly turns my head to the side and just as my chin is about to touch my shoulder, I rapidly tap at his arm. He let go and I silently exhale.
"That was good, atleast you'll be able to look around. Do you think you can do it on the other side?" He asks and I wave my hand in the air with my palms face downward.
He gently turns my head to the other side and I think the previous stretch didn't help in the slightest because I wasn't even close to my shoulder. It hurt like a motherfucker, that bitch probably stretched my skin open.
"So your right side is your good side?" He mused and I smile half heartedly. "Let's try up."
His hand went under my chin and he slowly helped me lift my head up. It hurt but I was a sucker for pain so I held it out.
"Such a brave girl." He mocked with a small laugh. We sat down and ate lunch together until the next person came by.
It's been two days since mom's drop of information and she has never wanted me to be alone with Claire running around.
"Bri..."
My hand faltered with the spoon filled with mash potatoes halfway to my mouth.
I haven't seen Isaac since I broke up with him but he doesn't stop at sending me letters. In a white envelope.
Similar to the one he gave me when I refused to be his anything after I lost my memory. They are all sealed within a white envelope, stamped with a heart. Inside is a letter. A lengthy letter on how much he misses me and is willing to do anything to be with me.
I want to be with him too but fear conquers love.
Last night the nurses dropped off the letter and I think I could stop droughts by the amount of tears that streamed down my face.
It was about all one hundred things he liked about me. None of them repeated. He picked me down from my hair to toes, to my hobbies, to my dislikes and likes, to everything he knew about me.
Now I see him standing in the doorway with an envelope in his hand. A big one.
"Can I speak to you alone?" He asks casting a look to Nate. Nate throws his hand in surrender and grabs his stuff.
"I'll be out of your gorgeous hair. Just know I'll be in the hallway if you need me." He tells me and walks to Isaac, dragging his finger on his shoulder. "And if you need me."
Isaac smiled at him and shook his head when he left. He pointed to the door Nate just closed. "Was he flirting with me?"
I simply nod my head, containing a huge grin. Nate is gay.
He walked dover and sat down opposite me. The air around us shifted into something suffocating and serious. He handed me the envelope with no other word.
I don't think it's a letter.
