Will pov
Ever since our almost-kiss in the kitchen, things between us have been tense. We're leaving for the Bahamas today, and we still haven't talked about what happened.
"Come on, girls, let's go! We have a plane in an hour," I called out, trying to shake off the uneasiness.
As we boarded the plane, Chloe and Kaitlin excitedly chattered about all the things they wanted to do in the Bahamas. Alexis, on the other hand, sat quietly in her seat, staring out the window. Her presence intrigued me—her grey shirt, green leather jacket, and blue ripped jeans giving her a casual yet captivating look. Her tired eyes and messy bun revealed a hint of vulnerability.
I couldn't help but steal glances at her, yearning to understand her thoughts and emotions. The memory of our almost-kiss played on repeat in my mind. I wondered if she felt the same magnetic pull, or if it had only complicated things further between us.
"Mr. Clements, we are taking off. Please fasten your seatbelt," the flight attendant announced, snapping me out of my reverie.
An hour into the flight, everyone else was asleep, and I decided to focus on some work. In addition to playing football, I had my own brand to manage, and my upcoming meetings in the Bahamas were crucial for potential investors. I immersed myself in designing the brand logo and brainstorming new ideas.
Suddenly, I heard a noise and looked up, finding Alexis getting up from her seat.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked, curious about her sudden movement.
"Oh, I just have to go to the bathroom," she replied, her voice slightly distant.
She stumbled and began to fall, but I reacted instinctively, catching her just in time. The words slipped out before I could stop them.
"Don't worry, gorgeous. I'll always catch you when you fall."
Instead of blushing or acknowledging the remark, she quickly extricated herself from my arms and hurried to the bathroom. It left me wondering what was going on in her mind.
---
"We have arrived, Mr. Clements. Have a wonderful vacation," the pilot informed me.
"Thanks, Steve. I will," I replied with a smile.
We disembarked the plane and entered the waiting limo. As we made our way to the hotel, which was more like a luxurious resort that I partially owned, I was curious to see Alexis's reaction.
Her eyes widened, and her mouth formed an amazed expression.
"Wow, this is beautiful," she exclaimed, taking in the surroundings.
"Welcome to The Palm Tree," I said, proud of the place.
The girls looked around in wonder, but my attention was focused on Alexis. Her reaction mattered to me more than anything.
She seemed genuinely impressed. It was a relief to see her captivated by the beauty around us.
"Alright, let's get you all settled in your rooms," I announced.
"Chloe, you're in Room 506. Kait, you and Kevin are right next door."
"I get my own room, right?" Alexis asked.
"Yes, you do, sweetheart. Unless you'd like to share with me. You know I always sleep better when you're around," I teased.
She rolled her eyes and laughed, a sound that warmed my heart.
"Careful, sweetheart. If you keep rolling your eyes like that, those beautiful orbs of yours might roll right out of your head."
She shook her head, playfully dismissing my comment, and headed towards her room.
As I watched her go, a mixture of hope and uncertainty filled my mind. I knew there were walls she had yet to let down, fears she had yet to face. But I was willing to work hard to gain her trust

Alexis POV
I wasn't avoiding him. It's just that every time I see Will, my gaze inevitably falls upon his lips, and my mind drifts back to that moment in the kitchen. I can't let that happen again.
When I entered my room, I collapsed onto the soft bed. It felt incredibly comfortable.
Ring ring.
"Guess what!" Chloe exclaimed on the other end.
"Yes, Chlo?"
"Kaitlin is having her bachelorette party here!"
"What?!"
"Yes, but don't worry. We're going shopping, so get ready and let's go."
"Um, okay?"
Well, that escalated quickly.
Twenty minutes later, we were in the car, the chauffeur driving us to the nearest mall.
"Ooh, this one is cute!"
"Oh my god, this one totally matches your eye color, Kait."
"Lex, this gray one is perfect for your skin tone."
"And this gold one for me. Come on, let's go. We have to call a club to book it."
"My girlfriends are flying down here tomorrow for the party."
"Oh, cool. Is Kevin having his party too?"
"Yeah, I think it's in the same club. We accidentally double-booked it. I just got a text from him."
Well, ladies, we have a party to plan for.
---
"We're back!"
As we entered the kitchen, I saw Will engaged in conversation with a blonde guy.
"Hey."
He looked familiar, like I've seen him somewhere before.
"Chloe, Alexis, this is my best friend and wide receiver of the LA Lions, Carter Holt."
Carter walked over to me, took my hand, and kissed it. I shot a quick glance at Will, noticing a hint of annoyance on his face.
"Well, it is an honor to meet the lovely lady who stole my best friend's heart. Alexis, I've heard a lot about you."
"Only good things, I hope."
"Yes, of course, only good things. And my, Will, is correct. You are stunningly beautiful."
I blushed, finding Carter quite the sweet talker.
"Well, I can say it has been quite the honor to meet you, Carter. You're quite the charmer."
"What can I say? You're a beautiful woman. There's much to say about it."
"Alright, that's enough. Carter, I'll see you later," Will interjected, his voice carrying a certain edge. Carter shot him a look before walking out.

Kaitlin's bachelorette party arrived in a flash, and we were getting ready for the club.
I wore a light gray dress, paired with red lipstick and black heels. My hair had loose waves, and my makeup was kept light.
"Come on, girls, let's party!" Kaitlin exclaimed, looking glamorous with her matching bride sash.
"Damn, girl, you look great. Will is going to flip," Chloe remarked.
"Ha! No, this," I gestured to my outfit, "is not for him."
"She isn't wrong. My bro will probably want to lock you up in his room and never let you go," Kaitlin added, teasingly.
I rolled my eyes at their playful comments.
"Ladies, you ready?" Will's voice trailed off as he stopped mid-sentence. He stared directly at me, his brown eyes penetrating my soul.
"Uh, Chlo and I will be in the car. We'll meet you guys there," Kaitlin said leaving me alone in the house with Will
"Jesus, sweetheart, are you trying to send me to an early grave? Seriously," he exclaimed, clearly affected by my presence.
I simply blinked at him, holding my ground.
It was then that I took a closer look at Will. He was dressed in a dark blue dress shirt with full sleeves and black jeans. His brown hair was slightly damp, indicating that he had recently taken a shower. The scent of his aftershave lingered in the air, and I noticed that he had shaved, leaving his face smooth.
"No, I don't think so," I replied calmly, my heart fluttering slightly. "Have a good night, Will."
As Chloe and I made our way to the car, I couldn't help but wonder about the intensity of the moment we had just shared. There was something unspoken between us, a magnetic pull that neither of us could deny. But I also knew that we couldn't act on it, not now. There were too many complications, too much at stake.
In the car, Chloe gave me a knowing look. "You two have quite the connection, huh?" she said, her voice filled with curiosity.
I sighed softly, unsure of how to put my feelings into words. "It's complicated, Chlo. There's a lot we haven't talked about, and I'm not sure where we stand."
She nodded understandingly. "Well, just remember to trust your instincts, Lex. Sometimes the heart knows what the mind can't comprehend."
Her words struck a chord within me, and I found solace in her support. The bachelorette party awaited us, and for now, that was where my focus needed to be. I pushed aside my thoughts of Will and tried to embrace the excitement and joy surrounding Kaitlin's celebration.
