Bitter Sweet Memories

Ryan's POV

.

Soon, we were standing at the airport of our hometown. Brownie stood right next to me and I could sense the nervousness in her body language. I knew she didn't want to come as it was totally against her wish but I couldn't just comply. I had to bring her along.

After all, she had made me the happiest man on this earth!

So now, it was on me to give her all the happiness she had lost once, because of me!

I gave her a side glance while she was busy staring right in front of her, at someone, she didn't know was coming to pick us up. Well, the other person also didn't know that they were coming for us. Looking at her intense face, I interlocked our hands, gaining her attention.

"Ready?", I asked as I looked into her green orbs.

"More than ever!", she said with the newly found confidence as she looked back at the person standing a few feet away from us.

"Arnieeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!", Brownie screamed, gaining attention of not just her best friend but also everyone around us.

I looked at her and narrowed my eyes as she squeezed my hand. And then, we saw the excited and surprised Arnie running towards us with the biggest smile I had ever seen on her!

"Jennnyyyyyyyyy!!!!!", she said before the two of them crashed into each other. They hugged for the longest time I could remember while I stood there, watching my crazy, little Brownie, chuckling and crying at the same time.

"Ohhh my God!!!!!!! I'm seeing you after so long!!!!!!!", Brownie said as they pulled away.

"Shit man!!! It's been so long!!! I missed you so much, Jenny!!!!", Arnie replied with equal enthusiasm.

"But how come you're here? Came to pick us up???", Brownie bumped her shoulder into Arnie's as they tried to calm down.

It was then that the two of them noticed me standing near them. They smiled at while Brownie's face was covered with confusion.

"This big man, standing right next to us called me about an hour ago. He told me he wanted help with some of his clients who were coming today. Initially, I didn't agree but eventually I had to because Harry works with him and being his wife, he's my boss, too", she said, pointing towards me when she spoke about her indirect boss. "I was just looking for them when I suddenly heard you call my name!!! And there you were, standing right next to him!!!", she said and they both hugged again.

"Thank you, Ryan! I'm glad you brought her back! Never been more contented than today, with you!", Arnie expressed her happiness.

I had decided to call Arnie to surprise both of them. I knew Brownie would be really stressed about meeting everyone which could eventually affect the baby. Therefore, I thought of calling Arnie who was the only person for now who could release her of all the stress and anxiety.

Apart from that, it was another way of apologizing to Arnie for breaking her best friend's heart.

"Thank you", Brownie mouthed as she cried on her best friend's shoulder. All I did was smile because honestly, I couldn't be happier!

"Come, we should get you home! Aaaannnnddddddd you have a lot of explain to do!!!!!!", Arnie gasped looking at the baby bump, looking absolutely beautiful with my Little Brownie!

I let the two of them go in one car while I went to the office to run some errands.

It took me two hours to complete the work and reach home. It was the fastest I could do as I was way too excited to meet my girls, Brownie and my kiddo.

I rushed inside my mansion as I promised myself not to leave her alone for more than an hour but I failed, miserably. I opened the door and witnessed the most beautiful sight in front of me.

Right there, stood a beautiful pregnant lady who was smiling and laughing like there was no tomorrow. She stood near the dining table, talking to Gracie about something which I didn't pay any heed to, while she was setting up the dinner table!!!!!!!!

Damn!!!!!!

How much I've longed to see someone do that for me,. Wait for me at the dinner table. And because it was her, it made my heart fluttered in God knows who's direction.

I stood there at the door, adoring my beautiful girl, until Gracie noticed me.

My girl?

Did I just say that?

"Sir??? Welcome home!!", the old lady chirped, giving away to the happiness in her.

Brownie turned around to look at me and gave me her heartiest smile. I kept my things on the couch while I went to them. I folded rolled up my sleeves as I tried to look as calm as possible because, honestly, I wasn't able to control the feeling I got coming back home!

"What took you so long?", she asked me as she pulled out the chair for me.

I loved the gesture and was about to reply when I got reminded of something. I turned her around and made her sit instead.

"What are you doing??", she asked looking absolutely baffled while Gracie chuckled.

"The little one needs to eat before her dad!", I fake scolded her as her eyes widened at me.

"Bu..But how do you know I..I didn't eat yet?", she asked with mouth hanging wide open.

"Jenny, do you thing he would forgotten how you ate together?", Gracie intervened as she understood my intension.

She looked at Gracie and then back at me. She didn't say anything but the smile gave it all away. She blushed like there was no tomorrow and I liked to have that effect on her.

I'm glad that I still have that effect on her!

..

We ate dinner peacefully, while Brownie and I filled Gracie with all the information, including the story about the little one. Brownie had told most of the things but it was good to have this conversation. It was good to hear them talk about us, about our little one, until we heard a knock on the door.

"Don't bother, Jenny. I'll get that", Gracie said and went to the door.

We continued our little talks until someone stopped us mid-track.

"SURPRISEEEEE!!!!!!!!!"
