The video above references a Sungwon moment later this chapter
The next day, at lunch time. Jungwon was once again finding himself looking at Sunghoon from afar. He noticed that another guy with pink hair went over to them and greeted Niki with a quick peck on the lips. He also noticed that Sunghoon's sweater was oversized enough to give him sweater paws. He wished he could see his face so he could see how adorable he looked.
Watching him from afar, this can't be how I love Sunghoon, Jungwon thought. When Jeongin told him ways on how to show your crush that you like them the other night, he said that watching people from afar was okay, but stalking them everywhere to continue watching them from afar was not. He seriously hoped that he could try the other ways before he crossed stalker territory.
"What are you staring at, mate?" Jake, one of Jungwon's closest friends, asked, snapping Jungwon out of his thoughts.
Jungwon shakes his head rapidly and quickly teared his gaze away from Sunghoon's table. "None of your business."
Jake worriedly stares at Jungwon briefly before biting his Subway sandwich and chatting with their other close friend Jay in English.
Omce he saw that his friends were distracted, Jungwon looks at Sunghoon's table again. Sunghoon was being cuddled by the pink-haired guy, who was saying stuff about spoiling Sunghoon rotten.
Jake looked at him again, then at what he was staring at. "Jungwon... are you gonna make a move on... Sunoo?"
Jungwon blinks at looked at the Australian. "Yo, what-"
"No, you can't make a move on Sunoo, Jungwon! Have you fucking lost it?! He already has a boyfriend, and his boyfriend is Niki, as in the exact same Niki who already hates your guts and always threatens to slit your throat all because you kept on flirting with his best friend Sunghoon!" Jake says, shaking Jungwon.
"I- Wait, the cockblocker's got a boyfriend?" Jungwon asked, removing Jake's hands from his shoulders.
"C'mon, Jungwon! Literally everyone knows that Niki and Sunoo are dating! They're one of the cutest couples in this school!" Jay said.
Wow, first Sunghoon's a famous ice skater, and now Niki the cockblocker's got a boyfriend? Jungwon thought. Is there anything else I don't know?
Jungwon took a deep breath. "Well, I genuinely did not know that. And no, Sunoo... wasn't... the one... I was... staring at..."
"Who? Ni- no wait, you two obviously hate each other, Sunghoon?"
Jungwon scratches his neck.
Jay's eyes widen in realization. "Oh my God! It's-"
"Why the fuck are you so loud?!!" Jungwon hissed, stuffing Jay's mouth with his bowl of kimchi fried rice. Jay tries to scold Jungwon but he ends up choking. Luckily (not for Jay), no one heard them.
"Why were you staring at Sunghoon?" Jake asked, though his tone of voice was genuinely curious and not at all teasing.
Jungwon plays with the collar of his shirt. "I... I had a talk with my older brother last night. He said that... he thinks I have... feelings for him..."
His friends froze in shock hearing that. Jake's eyes widen comically large. And poor Jay chokes impossibly harder than before on the kimchi fried rice.
"Wow... Playboy Yang Jungwon in love... never thought I'd actually live to see that day." Jake finally says. "I think I've seen everything now."
"Somebody... help me..." Jay managed to say between chokes.
"Just swallow the rice, dumbass." Jungwon deadpanned. Jay does so and sighs in relief.
"Just one day, if I can be with you—" Jay sings.
"Shut up, Jay." Jungwon says, gritting his teeth.
"Okay... Got so much to say, but can't organize myself—"
"Stop singing, Jay..." Jungwon growled out as he gives the American a sharp glare.
"I wanna know know know know. What is love? Will love—"
"Jay, I swear to God, I'm gonna stuff another bowl of rice in your big ass mouth, and this time, I will let it kill you." As Jungwon says this, he grabs his bowl of rice.
"Okay! Okay! Jesus, somebody doesn't like the classics." Jay mumbles, raising his hands up in defeat.
"So, what are you gonna do, mate?" Jake asked. "About your crush on Sunghoon, I mean."
Jungwon looks at Sunghoon again. His side profile was soft-looking right now, and he was smiling brightly. He sighed. "Honestly, I don't know."
Jake grins evilly. "Well, I think have an idea. But in order to proceed to Phase 1, first, you're gonna have to make sure he's alone. Not even with Niki and Sunoo. As in, 'no one's around' alone." He leans close to Jungwon and whispers in his ear.
Jungwon's eyes twinkle as he grins wide enough for his dimples to pop up. "Jake... that sounds both stupid and crazy. I'll do it!"
"Do what?! What sounds stupid and crazy?! C'mon, tell me! I didn't hear a damn thing!" Jay whined.
"I'll tell you later." Jake promised. "But right now, shh!"
----
"Hey, babe~" a voice says. A boy as short as Sunghoon with pink hair appears and gives Niki a quick peck on the lips. Niki looked surprised before he suddenly smirked. "Damn, Sunoo-hyung. Kinda early in the morning, don't ya think?"
"Oh hush, you. Don't say that kind of stuff in front of the baby. Speaking of the baby, hi Hoonie~" Sunoo says, hugging Sunghoon. Sunghoon shyly hugs back. "Oh my God... why is your best friend so cute, Riki? He's so adorable that all I want to do is to cuddle him and spoil him rotten! Like, he can look at me with his puppy eyes and I will immediately give him anything he wants!" Sunghoon blushes a bit hearing that. "I-I'm not the baby here, Niki is. Right Niki?"
Niki gave a mischievous smirk. "It's Niki-hyung to you." He says teasingly, pinching Sunghoon's cheek. Sunghoon just pouts in defeat.
Sunoo is Niki's boyfriend since middle school. He was born in 2003, making him a year older than Sunghoon and 2 years older than Niki. Back then (and still now) they sassed at each other a lot, which was a really nice way to show that you and your crush liked each other. During one of their (playful) arguements, Sunoo accidentally confessed. He expected the younger to laugh aat hi,, but instead he blushed and softly admitted that he felt the same. So they started to date. Both of their parents were pretty supportive but warned them that not everyone would be as supportive as them. But at least Sunghoon was. Hell, he even squealed when they told him. And they're also one of the cutest couples in the school.
Regarding Sunoo's relationship with Sunghoon, he totally babies him (though not to the point of infantilizing), cuddles him a lot, and most importantly, is just as protective over him as Niki is, maybe even more, because he once kicked a guy in the groin hard, two times. But the bastard deserved that kick because he was getting uncomfortably flirty with Sunghoon. Just goes to show, Sunoo may be a sunshine, but sometimes sunshine can burn. And it burns hard.
The couple noticed that Sunghoon was looking around. "What are you looking for, little penguin?"
Sunoo calls Sunghoon a penguin sometimes because the younger reminds Sunoo of one.
Niki sighed. "Oh, hyung. Poor Hoonie-hyung's got it bad for Yang Jungwon, the playboy." Sunghoon blushes and lightly hits Niki's hand in response.
"Oh penguin~" Sunoo says, petting Sunghoon's hair. "It's alright, Niki. It's just a harmless crush."
"Jungwon flirts with him. Just yesterday, I caught Jungwon about to kiss Sunghoon."
Sunoo covered Sunghoon's ears. "I'm going to fucking murder that son of a bitch."
Niki has never felt even more attracted to Sunoo than he already was.
----
Sunghoon was washing his hands in the bathroom. He proceeded to look for something to wipe his hands with, but there weren't any tissues anymore.
"I have some tissues, princess." A voice says.
Sunghoon yelped and and turned around. "Oh... Jungwon-hyung..." Sunghoon says, hand on his chest as he sighed in relief.
"Sorry, did I scare you?" Jungwon asks, handing the tissues.
"Oh thank you, Jungwon-hyung. And n-no, you didn't scare me. I'm just... jumpy..." Sunghoon admitted, wiping his hands and throwing the tissues in the thrash.
There was an awkward silence between them. Sunghoon was looking at the ground and fiddling with his hands. Jungwon meanwhile was thinking of Jake's idea and Jeongin's tips of showing your crush that you liked them.
"Are you... busy on Saturday? Any... ice skating competitions?" Jungwon finally says.
Sunghoon was surprised at the last question. Guess the entire school does know that he's a figure skater. "I don't have a competition right now... so I'm free..." Sunghoon mumbled softly, but loud enough for Jungwon to understand.
"Okay, well my friends are having a party this Saturday. There's not gonna be a lot of people. Wanna come?" Jungwon says. Yes. Jake's idea was a house party. It seems more stupid and crazy than you think.
"I'll... I'll ask my parents." Sunghoon replied.
"Cool, I'll text you the address if they say yes... so... you also available later? To... hang out?"
Sunghoon blushed at the fact that Jungwon wanted to hang out with him. "I, um... practice my ice skating at the mall after school today... but you can come, if you want."
Jungwon nods a little too eagerly.
----
They walked inside mall, Jungwon still burning with embarrassment from earlier when Jay and Jake showed too much excitement when they saw Jungwon with Sunghoon. At least Niki wasn't around. Because according to Sunghoon, he's at his dance club meeting.
Sunghoon said that he practices here a lot on weekdays when he has no homework. When Jungwon asked why, Sunghoon said it's due to lack of crowds. That makes sense since 1) Sunghoon is extremely shy and introverted and 2) someone would've recognized him and pester him with autographs and pictures.
Right now Sunghoon was helping Jungwon with his ice skates. Apparently the person that give peoples skates thought that they were a couple and gave Jungwon extra ice skates for free. Jungwon wasn't complaining. But when Sunghoon asked the person to give Jungwon a helmet, Jungwon for once actually feared for his life. And when Sunghoon explained that all beginners get helmets, he feared for his life even more.
"I'll go first to warm up, hyung." Sunghoon says. "You can join the rink when you feel ready."
"Okay, sure. Go ahead." Jungwon won't lie, ever since since he heard from his brother that Sunghoon was an figure skater, he was dying to see him skate. He's so glad he agreed to come, even if he might literally die trying to skate like the younger. He decided to watch Sunghoon first, in order to know what to do.
The moment Sunghoon enters the rink, Jungwon swears that he can hear classical music playing in the background. "Woah..." he heard Sunghoon say.
"Can you do a turn, princess?" Jungwon asked. Sunghoon bit his lip (mostly at the nickname) as he skated to the center of the rink. Sure enough, he did the turn, along with a few other ice skating moves. (A/N: I'm sorry I don't know the names of the ice skating moves so just watch the video)
Jungwon looked at him with so much awe and admiration. This is the first time he saw another side of Sunghoon's beauty. The side he always saw was the cute side. But right now, for the first time, he was seeing the graceful side. The way he did all of those moves with a certain grace and style was just so... breathtaking to watch. And he did it all with a happy smile on his face. He really seems to love ice skating so much.
Jungwon gulped as he finally entered the rink, Sunghoon skating to him. The older tripped the moment his blade hit the ice but luckily Sunghoon was already near him so he caught the older in the nick of time.
Jungwon looked at him, noticing how different their size difference really was. They two blushed madly even after Sunghoon let the older go. Sunghoon taught him the basic way to glide across the ice. Jungwon did well for a minute until he lost his balance. He shook his arms rapidly until he felt Sunghoon grab one.
"Hyung... were you always this cute?" Sunghoon asked, giggling and poking Jungwon's cheek.
"No." Jungwon quickly answered, flustered.
"Ok, I'll let you go now. Can you try to skate on your own?"
"Wait, what? Princess, did you say that-"
Sungoon's grip on his arm was suddenly gone. Jungwon yelped and immediately tried to skate on his own. When he realized that he was doing a good job, he looked at Sunghoon with a proud smile on his face, and he mentally patted his shoulder when he noticed that Sunghoon's smile looked even prouder.
----
Jungwon sighed happily. He remembered when he dropped him off at his place, he kissed the younger's cheek before he went inside. He knew that it wasn't a date, but it still felt so... magical.
While he was on the bus, he got a text from Sunghoon, saying that his family was fine with the party as long as Niki and Sunoo were with him and that he didn't drink anything weird. He also added that Niki and Sunoo agreed to coming to the party. Jungwon was alright with Niki coming, as long as he didn't cockblock him.
He hummed the tune of the classical music from the rink as he pulled out his keys and unlocked the door of his house.
"Gaah!" Jungwon yelped, dropping his bag. Much to his surprise, Jay and Jake were at his house along with his older brother. They were sitting on the couch. Jungwon braced himself when he realized that all three of them were grinning evilly.
"Jay... Jake... What you doing here?" Jungwon finally asked.
"Just discussing our plan with your brother," Jake says. "You have the biggest house, mate."
"So~ did my little brother really go on a date with his crush?" Jeongin asked, wiggling his eyebrows.
"It- It wasn't a date!" Jungwon says, though he sounded confused. He looked at Jay and Jake. "Did you tell people?!"
"Nope, I swear! We didn't tell anyone aside from your brother because Niki might hear... and kill you," Jake says. "And don't worry, nobody saw you two together aside from us."
"I'm surprised, with all the noise you two idiots made, someone didn't notice." Jungwon sassed, though secretly relieved, as he plopped on the couch.
"Anyway, what did you two do?" Jeongin asked, he along with Jungwon's friend leaning out of curiosity.
"We... figure skated." Everyone gasped. "It was supposed to be just Sunghoon, but the lady who gives the skates mistook me for his boyfriend and gave me skates too."
"Totally not false." Jay snarked. Jungwon punched him in the shoulder. "Ow... and?"
"And he skated so... so... beautifully. He reminded me of a ballerina but on ice. He taught me how to skate. I almost tripped twice, but I got the hang of it and he looked so proud."
"Wow... Are you sure it wasn't a real date, bro? Because it all sounds so romantic!" Jake squealed.
"So about your party..." Jeongin said. "Eomma and Appa said it was fine as long as you don't invite a lot of people, no doing drugs and drinking alcohol, and no breaking stuff. They're also buying the food for your party."
"Tell them I said thanks, hyung." Jungwon said, he and his friends grinning.
Something epic is definitely going to happen at the party.
