ian and mickey find out news they weren't ready for. their attempts at handling such a situation show the strength of their little family.
the next six months seemed to fly from underneath mickey and ians feet. however, it came to a grinding stop one Saturday morning.
all the Gallaghers were filling the kitchen, minus mickey. ian had left him in bed, assuming that mickey was to start his period that morning.
periods were different now that they had a baby. the boy who suffered from the bleeding would try and be productive in the time. he felt being completely out for a few days would force more stress on ian to look after nyx.
the other had tried to keep the same energy through those weeks. ian knew how difficult the times were for mickey and just wanted to make him comfortable.
Saturday morning was going fine, lip joined the family for breakfast causing a happy scene. it was a warm moment that was broken by mickey rushing down the stairs.
"We need to talk." he blurted out quickly to his husband.
lip let out a small gasp. "uh-oh do we need to act like we don't know you if cops come sniffing around?" he asked loudly seeing the seriousness in mickeys face.
ian laughed at his brother only to be cut off by a pinch to his ear. "now, ian, upstairs." the husband said using the body part to raise the boy.
they were the last words before the pair disappeared upstairs. ian simply sat on the bed as he watched mickey pace for a few minutes. the redhead finally broke"okay mick, what's wrong? I've never seen you like this. you are worrying me." he admitted softly.
"I'm pregnant." he huffed suddenly.
a wide smile jumped to ians face not understanding mickeys harsh worries. "what, mick? that's great!" he laughed.
mickey stopped his walking just to send the other a raised eyebrow look. "no, it's not." he sighed. "we barely have enough to support nyx." he explained simply.
"we said we wanted more kids, so what's the issue?" ian reasoned pushing out his arms to hug the other.
the black-haired boy only moved further away so ian couldn't touch him. "yeah but in the future!" he groaned loudly. "that's why we were still using protection, i don't even know how this happened." the man panicked with short breaths.
"Hey, yeah, okay." ian hummed softly standing to wrap his arms around the other. it was weird seeing the man panic, the thought of it basically sent the redhead into a breakdown. "we could always, you know, abort it." he suggested.
mickey only looked up to the other with a serious look. "no, i don't want that." he huffed softly before just looking up to ian with a sigh. "just hold me? I'm freaking out."
**
"What did i tell you when i was pregnant with nyx about morning sickness?" mickey asked as he walked back into their bedroom. ian had attempted to fall back asleep after the other left but found it
impossible after thinking of his boy in pain.
the redhead thought it over for a second with his head tilted to the side. he suddenly snapped his fingers. "that if she wasn't cute you would kick me in the balls so hard i couldn't make any more kids." he said simply.
mickey nodded at the words. "good, glad i don't have to repeat myself." he groaned before sitting beside the other. ian simply laughed. "seriously Gallagher, i won't be afraid to make you shoot dust for the rest of your life." mickey explained harshly.
"how could i forget? you did say it a lot." the redhead chuckled before finding words to actually comfort the other "we have our appointment today, maybe dr Jace will tell us why the morning sickness is so bad."
**
the blonde woman pushed the door open and smiled widely. "my favourite family, glad to see you back." she exclaimed looking over the group of three. "how is nyx?"
ian looked down to the girl in his lap. "she's moving a lot, the first time she's been still all day." he explained about the nine month baby.
"she can sense her papa is nervous." Abby babbled in a baby voice crouching down to the girl. it was a suggestion to tell mickey to calm himself. "now, i hear you think you may be pregnant again." she smiled before turning on the machine.
a silence filled the room whilst dr jace prepared for the ultrasound, mickey already knowing the process, neither of them needing words. the doctor moved the wand over the stomach. suddenly two circles seemed to appear. "congratulations it's twins, eight weeks."
"fucking hell." mickey gasped instantly knowing their load was just tripled.
**
that night mickey laid on his back, ians arm was securely held over his stomach. the pair only had silence between them, ian supported his head over mickeys eyes when the older suddenly broke away from the stare. "you know how we have a plan for if your bipolar acts up? i want one." he huffed only getting a confused hum from the redhead. "i want a plan for if i start acting like my dad." mickey explained.
ian was quick to shake his head as if it would break a trance. "where is all this coming from?" he asked.
the black-haired boy just sighed softly. "just with more than one kid there is so many chances to screw it up." he shrugged before continuing "i don't ever want to even begin to treat them how my dad treated me or mandy."
"mick you won't do that." the redhead scoffed, finding the conversation too ridiculous to even consider.
mickey just let out a harsh groan to indicate his dissatisfaction. "ian, I'm serious." he huffed. "you made me promise to throw you in the loony bin if you get too much, and make sure you never end up like your mum. i need you to promise to throw me out of this house onto my ass if i start acting anything like my dad." he explained quietly, keeping eye contact with the other to communicate the seriousness.
"what, babe, that's ridiculous, no I'm not going to do that." ian laughed simply, ready to dismiss the whole situation and go to sleep.
"ian."
the man let his green eyes search over the others face, not wanting to even make such a promise. "yeah, okay, fine mick i promise." he hummed quietly.
"thank you."
