It's him...
He doesn't move, he just stands there, staring at us from the distance.
My eyes move to his left hand and see him holding a gun. I can feel the intensity of his stare even though I can't see his eyes.
No more living in fear, no more surviving, the decisive moment is here and even though I'm terrified, a part of me has the need to end with all this for good or bad.
Surviving isn't enough. I want to live. At this moment, I decide not to be scared and let things turn out as they do. I don't care anymore.
He tilts his head to the side, the movement barely visible in the dark. I know I need to move, run or scream, but my brain doesn't seem to react.
Jihye takes my arm. "Shit, shit! We need to get out of here."
I take a step back with her and the killer straightens his head, raising his gun and pointing it towards us.
"Run!!" Jihye yells and pulls my arm as we quickly run down the hallway, our hearts pounding and our throats dry and our breathing's heavy.
I pray desperately that he doesn't shoot as I wait for the pain of a bullet to pierce my back at any moment.
But I don't feel it.
I look over my shoulder to see him taking slow steps towards us.
How is he so confident we won't escape? He doesn't seem rushed at all.
We run to the back door but it's locked.
"No, no, no!" Jihye begins kicking the door over and over again.
Desperate, I see the stairs leading to the second floor next to us, and without thinking twice, I take her hand and run up the stairs as fast as I can.
Our heavy breathing resonates through the walls, our heartbeats accelerated.
My heart is about to collapse by the time we reach the second floor. Why is it empty, where is everyone?
"I can't breathe." Jihye holds her chest. "I can't."
I take hold of her face, looking at her eyes filled with tears.
"Jihye, look at me," I speak softly. "we'll be fine, okay? We just need a place to hide and we'll be fine."
Even though I don't believe my own words, I have to calm her down.
We cross the second floor, trying to open the doors, but they're all locked by key.
But then I remember.
Yoongi.
Maybe he can help us. I have a feeling he might have a good idea on how to escape the place.
"Room twenty-eight. On the boy's side," I say breathlessly, taking her arm and running.
"What?" Jihye whispers as she keeps looking behind us. The killer still didn't appear by the stairs.
I run to the door leading to the boys side and desperately hope it's unlocked, which it thankfully is.
We enter the boy's side and I immediately search for his room number.
Twenty-five, twenty-six, twenty-seven...
Twenty-eight.
As I stop in front of his room, my eyes open in complete shock.
His door is wide open and there's a huge trail of blood coming from it.
Oh no.
I take a look inside, expecting the worst but it's empty. However, I see a pool of blood in the corner where I saw Yoongi last time.
Oh my God.
"___," Jihye whispers and I turn to look at her to see she's pointing to the floor. "The trail of blood goes towards the staircase as if..."
"As if someone dragged him," I finish and we follow the blood in silence. There's no place to hide on this floor, so our only option is to go back down. At least it won't be the girl's side where he is.
Swallowing hard I take a look through the staircase to make sure no one's there and we walk down where the line of blood continues on every step.
But when we reach the bottom of the stairs, we both gasp and Jihye covers her mouth to hold in a scream.
We find Yoongi on the floor, blood covering all the right side of his clothes, his skin pale, his eyes closed and his hand over what seems to be a deep wound on his leg.
I plead over and over that he isn't dead as I crouch down in front of him.
"Yoongi? Yoongi, wake up," I whisper and Jihye cries silently.
"H-he's dead." Jihye's voice wobbles and I shake my head, putting my finger under his nose.
"No, he's still breathing," I say and give soft slaps to his cheek.
"Yoongi, please wake up, please..." My voice is barely a whisper but Yoongi opens his eyes agonizingly slow, his eyes finding mine and a weak smile lifting his lips.
"Sweetheart," he says, looking up at me. He lets out a groan in pain.
"Ah, I forgot what pain really feels like." He hisses.
"What happened to you?" I ask and he gives me a tired look.
"I don't think I'm your killer's favorite person."
"Did he drag you all the way here?" I frown.
"No, I did. Bleeding to death in a dark, empty room isn't a scenario I'd like to live," he tells me, resting his face on my palm and closing his eyes.
Jihye walks form one side to the other. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but there's a killer walking around with a gun looking for us. What do we do?"
I nod and turn to look at Yoongi.
"Yoongi, he's here, I know he's coming for me and I'm scared I don't know what to do," I whisper shakily as I talk to him.
"He's always been here, ___. He's just showing his true colors now." Yoongi looks down at his bleeding leg. "You need to get out of here."
"Oh, wow! I didn't know that!" Jihye exclaims sarcastically.
"How? The back door's locked, I'm sure the rest of the doors are too and when he was chasing us he wasn't rushed at all," I say, my breathing agitated.
"There are other ways you can escape," he croaks out.
"Like what? Could you be more specific? Is he always like that?" Jihye asks me and I nod.
Yoongi gives us an annoyed look and my mind suddenly remembers something useful for once.
"I know a place!" My eyes open big and they both look at me. "There's a window in the girls's bathroom, I escaped through it once to go to the campfire."
"What are we doing here, then? Let's go!" Jihye says and I offer Yoongi my hand.
"Very kind of you, sweetheart, but I think you should leave on your own." Yoongi smiles at me.
Jihye growls, annoyed. "No. We're not doing any of that Titanic shit and you're not going to be Jack, you're coming with us."
Yoongi smiles. "I really appreciate the gesture, wanting to save a madman like me and all, but I've already bled too much and the probabilities of me surviving are very low. I'll just be a burden."
"Shut up," I say and take one of his arms and Jihye takes the other, helping him to stand up. "You're coming with us."
Yoongi shakes his head, "You're both insane."
Helping Yoongi, we cross the building to the girl's side, walking as quickly and quietly as possible.
I wonder if everyone else is okay, or if they even know what's happening.
As we reach the corridor, we freeze.
We see a figure standing right at the other end of the corridor.
"Oh no." Jihye panics.
As I stare at the killer, I realize something.
"Guys, he's looking the other way, hurry and get in!" I whisper as we walk to the bathroom in quick steps.
We enter in a hurry and don't waste any time to climb out the window.
Jihye climbs out first and we both help Yoongi out.
"Hurry, hurry!" Jihye says as she pulls Yoongi outside.
We finally get Yoongi out, but as soon as I'm the only one left inside, I feel so nervous and my heart beats desperately in my chest as I wait for him to enter the bathroom at any moment.
Jihye sees me hesitate and offers me her hand. I take it and she helps me get outside.
Once we're outside, we catch our breaths.
"How do we leave from here? We're miles away from the closest town, we'll never be able to walk there," I say, shaking my head in worry.
Yoongi talks for the first time in a while. "There must be some cars in the parking lot, right? The staff must've gotten here somehow."
"We don't have any keys." I frown.
"Why would you need keys when you have me?" Yoongi smirks.
"Am I even surprised anymore?" I deadpan as we make our way to the parking area, the cold wind of the night making me shiver.
