"I love to sip that lean, I like the way it make me feel"

"Lani!" Hikulani furrowed her eyebrows together in a questioning manner, she was close to finishing the episode on The Vampire Diaries, but Kaliko kept calling her name.
Pausing the episode with the Roku remote, Hikulani groaned getting up from the twin-sized bed, placing her 8 size foot in her house slippers.
Today was a Saturday, which was a rest day for Hikulani, well at least that's what she thought it was. She wanted to just chill today and catch up on her tv shows since she has been so busy throughout the week.
Passing by the off-white walls that were decorated with multiple pictures of the small family was showcased on both sides of the walls. Finally being met with the guest bathroom that was located on her left.
"What?" She stood behind her sister, gazing over at her currently pressing out her hair.
Thanks to their heritages that they were mixed with, it blessed them with really long, thick, curly hair. Hikulani loved her tight curls and embraced them on a daily. Meanwhile, on the other hand, Kaliko hated hers. She constantly had to flatten the curly dome, from it getting back curly again.
"I'm going out, so if you're coming cmon'." Kaliko quickly glanced over at her sister, seeing she was still dressed in her pajamas.
"You too old to be wearing hello kitty." Kaliko grimaced over at Hikulani's choice of clothing, turning the hot flat iron off.
Hikulani ignored her sister's ignorant remarks, "Where are you going?" She leaned on the bathroom wall placing one foot over the other.
"Prolly stop by over grama' house, be over in the Bronx for awhile, you still wanna get that shit you was wanting for your painting?" Kaliko turned towards her, wrapping the cords around the flat iron preparing to place the hot hair tool back in the cabinet.
"Grama back already? And yeah, but I can wait until my next pay." One of Hikulani's hobbies was painting. It took her mind off of things and it was also a great coping mechanism for her. She really enjoyed it when she did it. And plus, one of her friends suggested it, and so far she loved it.
"I guess so, you know how she be." Kaliko shrugged her shoulders walking out of the bathroom leaving Hikulani to her thoughts.
Their grandmother Namiko was always moving between her apartment in the Bronx and her apartment in Philly. Namiko constantly moved state to state being that she had a boyfriend in Philadelphia, so she wanted to be closer to him, but also be closer to her grandkids and son.
"Yeah, I guess I'll go. Daddy let you take the truck?" Hikulani begins to get herself ready beginning with brushing her teeth with her pink generic toothbrush. She already brushed her teeth earlier in the morning, but she wanted them to feel
extra clean.
"Yeah, he took on another shift." Kaliko leaned over on Hikulani picking up her speaker.
Hikulani mugged her knowingly since Kaliko knew her sister didn't like it when people crowded up against her personal space.
Their dad worked as a construction worker in the Brooklyn area. He worked most days and nights, But most of the time it depended on what they were building. Some days he didn't even come back home, which the girls were used to since he had been employed there for over 5 years, and was used to his hectic schedule.
"Like always." Hikulani rolled her eyes gazing over the bright blue bonnet that sat on her head.
I really need to do something with my hair.
After finishing with the brushing of her teeth, Hikulani placed the toothbrush back in the place she got it from. Cutting the light off from the bathroom she made her way to the kitchen.
"Aren't you going over your lil' friend house?" Hikulani questioned her little sister Miyagi, seeing that she was watching a cartoon on the tv.
"We're not friends anymore. She's fake." Miyagi slowly blinked her eyes, moving her attention to her big sister.
"Well, who needs friends anyway? You got me and liko and daddy." Hikulani grabbed the family-sized box of Lucky charms, flopping next to the seat by Miyagi's.
Miyagi gave her a weird look, picking up the remote to turn the volume up louder, wanting to tune her sister's voice out. Hikulani rolled her eyes at her gesture.
"Miyagi imma' beat yo ass! Didn't I tell you to put some shoes on?" After a few moments, Kaliko came into the living room with her black generic purse in hand.
Miyagi quickly jumped up going to the closet to put on her boots. Kaliko was not a nice person when she was angry, so Miyagi made sure not to try her.
"And you too fucking fat ass." Kaliko turned her lips up at Hikulani, who hand a handful of lucky charms in her left hand.
"Kiss my ass?" Hikulani munched the leftover crumbs in her hand and sat the cereal box on the table making her way to her room to get dressed.

Smoke filled the area as the two boys had a mini smoke session. Behyir held the computer in his lap, as he completed another apartment approval. Behyir only smoked occasionally so he continued tending to his customers, as his friends did what they were doing.
"Food's ready!" A light voice called from the kitchen, notifying them of the delicious meal awaiting them.
Diamond tided more around the kitchen making a plate for her two-year-old son first before anyone else had a chance to.
"Move nigga, that's Isaiah shit." Diamond slapped one of Behyir's friend hand away.
Leviron winced at the stinging pain from his hand as he mugged Diamond. "heavy-handed ass."
Behyir laughed lowly at his friend dramatics, figuring he was just being extra. "Yo ass a straight bitch, on moms!" picking up a plastic plate, preparing to fill it up with the hot food Diamond just cooked up, the drum chicken being his first choice he put his fingers on.
A powerful punch hit the side of his shoulder, almost dropping the plate from the force he was hit with.
"Chill Mike Tyson." Devon, Behyirs cousin, gripped the side of his girlfriend's arm, whispering something in her ear, causing a low chuckle to erupt from her glossed pink lips.
"My bad yo, just don't be touching my chicken drums, please and thank you." She continued her walk out of the kitchen, Isaiahs's plate in her hand.
"Her ass got issues." Leviron chuckles, stuffing his plate with macaroni.
"Don't be fucking wit' her shit then." Devon laughed, pulling some orange juice out of the refrigerator.
"Man whateva', you be letting her ass walk all over you," Leviron commented after finishing off his plate, walking into the living room.
Behyir tuned the two of them out, paying close attention to the food he was setting on his plate, he was really picky about his food, and he also didn't eat everybody's greens, only his grandma's.
"When you finally decide to settle down, you'll see," Devon stated matter of factly as he screwed the cap back onto his orange juice, seeing Diamond walk back in the area, with a sippy cup in her hand.
"Save some for my friend! I know you niggas gone eat it all!" Diamond yelled loudly, not using her inside voice.
"Yo, yelling all in my damn ear," Devon scrunched up his face, causing a small dimple to pop up on his left cheek.
"And last time I checked, you don't got no damn friend." He put some mashed potatoes on his plate then joined Leviron in the living room.
The living room that Diamond decorated, was lavishly decored. The grey velvety couch sat placed against the wall, small pink throw pills were placed nicely and orderly on top. A small glass table sat in front of it, multiple candles from Bath and Body Works were sat upon it, topping it off with small decorations. The walls had modern images perfected on each individual wall, giving it its little theme on each side. Two loveseats sat across from each other, separated by one big grey furry rug. And to top it off, an 82 inch Samsung tv, mounted on the wall, with a gaming center under it.
"I been knew her, Y'ALL just ain't met her, be on y'all very best behavior to please." Diamond pointed over to Devon and Leviron mostly, being that the two of them clearly had no home training.
Leviron quickly stopped munching on the delicious taste he was savoring, putting his attention on Diamond.
"Ion even be doing nun, that's him." Leviron childishly pointed over to Devon, who also held a childish look rested on his face, as he ate his food.
"How old are y'all?" Diamond blew out an irritated breath walking into the kitchen to make Isaiah some juice in his sippy cup.

Hikualni's eyes rose above seeing the nice tall apartment building. She looked over at the clock seeing it was 10'o clock a night, mentally cursing out her sister for having her out here at this time of the night.
"How long are you going to be in there?" Hikulani raised her naturally arched eyebrows glancing over at her sister pulling out a black duffle bag.
"Uh, I'm not sure, she said she was cooking, so it'll prolly be a while, you know I can't drive on a full stomach." Kaliko's hazel brown eyes darted over to Hikulani's as she prepared to hop out of the truck.
Hearing a subject about food made Hikulani's stomach growl just from the sound of it. They had been ripping and running all day, being that Kaliko had a few customers that wanted to shop for Cannabis, so Hikulani didn't get a chance to get some food. She so desperately wanted to go take a bite, but this was her sister's people so she didn't want to be an intrude.
Seeing the knowing look on her sister's eyes, she rolled her eyes, "Cmon if you hungry lani." Kaliko shut the door as a sigh escaped her lips.
Hikulani gracefully hopped out of the truck, zipping up her coat more as she felt the cold weather hit her body. She looked over at her sister's attire seeing her sported with a black Moncler coat, with black timberlands on her feet as she trudge through the crispy white snow.
Claim she doesn't have any money but can buy a whole Moncler coat, smh.
Hikualni pushed the thoughts out of her head, as she followed her sister's footsteps making her way to the glass doors. Looking at the scenery ahead of her, Hikulani never saw such a nice apartment establishment. When you walked in the hallway to enter their apartment, you would see rats and mouses casually in the hallway like they pay rent, but not here.
"You got rich friends or sum'?" Hikulani jogged up to her sister's speed, glancing at the bun she had in her hair.
"Would you calm down? damn." Kaliko twisted her face up at Hikulani's change of mood.
"This what happens when you take broke people out the hood," Kaliko added pressing the upward face arrow on the elevator.
Tuning out Kaliko's remarks, Hikulani gaped at the nice elevator that was built in with mirrors all around.
Kaliko pulled out her phone once they reached the level their destination was on, looking to see what apartment number it was, seeming as to that she forgot.
Looking around at the different doors that were decorated with Christmas decorations, Hikulani dreamed that maybe one day one of these apartments would be hers. She so hopelessly wished that she would get to live her true dreams someday.
Kaliko stopping at the door, placing three regular knocks on the white door seeing 18 planted at the top. Hikulani dropped her head looking down at her knock-off brand boots. She was saving up paychecks but it seemed like it wasn't really causing any change. She had to pay one of the bills, along with Kaliko, and she had to make sure Miyagi was good, while also keeping up with her own self needs. Kaliko always seemed to be good on the money side, some days she would even give Hikulani some money for her painting supplies, but that was mostly rare, she always seemed to be in a bad mood.
Looking up once she heard the door open, she placed her brown orbit eyes upon the short figure before her, doing a once over once she begin speaking. "Hey girl!" The girl blaring voice could be heard through the narrow hallway, opening the door wider so the two girls could come in.
Kaliko stepped into the carpeted living room, Hikulani coming in after her, placing her eyes on the few people in the luxurious living room.
"Wassup doonie," Kaliko voiced, embracing Diamond's warm hug. Hikulani stood by the door awkwardly playing with the hem of her jeans.
"I hope you don't mind, I brought my sis wimme'," Kaliko called out making her way into the kitchen, after separating from the hug.
"What's your name love?" Hikulani looked up from the floor, placing her attention on the lovely woman.
"It's Lani," She raised her voice glancing over at the three boys.
"Well nice to meet you, Lani, I'm Diamond, you can call me Doonie though, "Diamond unexpectedly pulled her in for a hug, startling Hikulani.
"Lemme introduce you to the boys,"
Nodding her head, she glanced over at her sister, seeing she was munching on a piece of chicken.
Fat ass.
Coming closer to the couches, she observed each individual face finding one particular face familiar.
The boy from the shop!
Not wanting it to be obvious, she placed her attention back on Diamond, hearing her speak.
"Boys... this is Lani, Lani, This is Devon, Leviron, and Behyir, and that's Kaliko in the back yall." Diamond introduced, waving her hand between the boys and Lani.
Hearing "Wassups and yo's" Hikulani placed a small smile on her face, waving back.
Behyir finally looked up from his computer, having a discern facial expression plastered on his face, noticing it was the girl from the pastry shop. He couldn't forget the prepossessing face even if he wanted to. She was honestly breathtaking to him.
Looking from head to toe, he noticed the nervous expression on her face as she sat on the sofa across from him, next to Leviron, who looked like he was spitting game. Playfully shaking his head at his antics, He put his attention on Kaliko who walked in, holding a plate of food in her hand.
"Here Lani," Kaliko handed the plate over to her, making Hikulani carefully grab the plate placing it on her lap.
"Aw shit, not Lil k2 yo sista'" Leviron gasped, looking up at Kaliko who simply rolled her eyes, coming over to sit by Behyir, keeping the personal space.
"My twin nigga!" Kaliko put emphasis on twins.
Kaliko's statement had Leviron astounded, he barely believed that they were siblings, being that just from the little time speaking to Hikulani, he noticed she acted nothing like Kaliko. Them being twins just had him very astonished.
Behyir tuned out their fueding, observing Hikulani, seeing she was dressed well for the cold weather outside, he watched as her bouncy curls jumped and bounced each time she made any movement.
Hearing his name being called, brought him back into reality, placing his eyes on Devon, who held Diamond by her waist, "If you leave, make sure you lock up, ight?" He snuggled his face in Diamond's neck, making her squirm under his touch.
"Ight"
"I will be back Liko, just give it to Behyir or Leviron when you get ready to leave!" Diamond made out hearing disappear into the hallway, causing Leviron to stifle a laugh.
"She ain't coming back, might as well roll up now," he giggled, Kaliko passing him the duffle bag across the table.
Hikulani turned her head to the tv, seeing an unknown basketball team she couldn't make out, going against the New York Knicks. Focusing at the bottom of the screen she could see they were losing to the Atlanta Hawks by 9 points.
I know my daddy tight.
"You smoke?" She pulled her attention away from the tv, now seeing Behyir sit beside her, leaving a few inches between them.
Staring over at him, she slowly took in the smell of the clean smelled cologne, as it rushed through her nose, looking at his dark succulent lips, her breath was caught in her throat, as she thought of what to say.
"No, not really," Which was true, Kaliko was the only one who smoked between the two, Lani didn't like the smell of it, so she always complained saying it made her stomach hurt, so Kaliko could smoke outside, and not in their room.
She nervously looked down, eventually placing her small brown eyes on his, as he stuffed the Backwood's packet back in the hoodie. 'KENZO' was written in white stitching across the black material, that hugged Behyir's upper half. The black Amiri jeans enhanced the red stitching on the black Yeezy 350s.
"That's coo' too," He nodded his head, leaning back into the soft couch, as he spread his long legs out wider, placing his hands in the pocket of the hoodie.
Leviron and Kaliko were in their own little world, as they laughed and joked around, while Leviron rolled up another wood. Kaliko made eye contact with her sister, speaking with her eyes, "You good?" she mouthed, Hikulani quickly nodding her head, yes, turning back towards Behyir.
"This your crib?" She asked, trying to make conversation, she was making progress with not being as socially awkward, but, she still faced obstacles here and there.
Behyir focused his attention back on Lani. "Nah this my cous and his girl shit," He twisted one of the dreads.
"Oh," With the simple nod of her head, she placed her attention back on the game.
Behyir studied her side profile, her bottom lip sticking out, which was perfectly moist, as a curl fell in her face. Small hoop earrings adorned her ear, being seen by the hair that was pulled back behind her ear.
Picking up the hot plate of food Kaliko handed to her earlier, she observed the plating seeing it was some chicken, greens, roast beef, and mash potatoes Diamond had made. The creamy mashed potatoes mixed perfectly with the bright greens that sat on top of the chicken and roast beef. Many other spices were also mixed in with the delicious entree.
"You need a fork?" Behyir asked from beside her, seeing she was missing one from the plate.
Hikulani glanced back down at the plate seeing no fork in sight, she glanced back up nervously nodding her head.
"Yes please,"
As Behyir stood up to grab a fork from the kitchen, Hikulani released a breath she didn't realize she was holding. She couldn't figure out why she was highly strung around him.
Kaliko's obnoxious laughter took Hikulani immediately out of her thoughts. The highly pitched sound irritated Hikulani tremendously.
Eyeballing the two passing the wood in a two-way rotation, she wrinkled her nose at the smell of the green herb.
"Dogs do have chins you just can't see it yet because you're not a dog." Leviron seriously expressed to Kaliko as she blew out smoke.
"Yo, you deadass right now?" Ashing the blunt in an empty cub nearby, Leviron low eyes could be seen that he was obviously in euphoria from the Marijuana.
Feeling somebody come beside her, Hikulani took her attention from the two and rose her eyes to Behyir who held a silver fork in his hand, his phone held to his ear by his hand, let Hikulani know that he was currently on the phone.
"Thank you." She mumbled grasping the clean fork in her hand picking back up the plastic plate of food.
Walking away to indulge more in the current conversation he was having over the phone, Hikulani pulled out her phone to see it was going on at 11:10 at night. She groaned lowly cognitively knowing she would most likely be out all night.
Sliding her phone back in her coat pocket, she picked up the fork taking a small bite into the food. the appetizing aroma of the sizzling chicken hit her tastebuds, making her lowly moan at the flavor. Whoever had cooked this knows exactly what they're doing and how they're doing it.
Hikulani took a few more bites before hearing Kaliko call her name, making her perk up.
"You ready to go?"
Hikulani glanced between Kaliko and the plate of food she held in her hand, in an undecided manner. With the nod of her head, she swallowed what was left in her mouth, she sloped upwards from off the couch, plate still in hand as she caught her balance.
"You good to drive?" Hikulani made her way to the kitchen, not seeing Behyir anywhere, making her question herself of where he disappeared off to.
"Stop asking me dumb shit yo," Kaliko responded grasping the personal items that she entered the home with.
Kaliko was a very experienced driver when she was under the influence. She has done it multiple times and still made it to the destination in one piece, so Kaliko found it very off that Hikulani asked her something so foolish. she felt like Hikulani was trying to play her and she didn't like that.
Dumping everything in the trash beside the fork, she rolled her eyes at her sister's smart mouth. One day she planned to tell Kaliko about herself and finally put her in her place, just not right now. She had to find the balls and courage to do so.
She didn't want anyone to think that she was scared of her twin sister because she wasn't. It was just some things need to be said in private and at the right time. She didn't want to ruin the relationship with her twin sister. After all, all you got is your siblings at the end of the day, right?
✾✾✾
"You see me calling yo' phone and you ain't answer?! I'll punch you in the fucking mata bitch you think I'm playing them games witchu' bitch!" Leviron's girlfriend Jennaske poked her long acrylic finger on his head, making him fall back a little.
Leviron and Behyir were currently walking to their first class of the day, they had just walked all the way from the subway and now on to the Brooklyn College campus, which was a pretty long walk. Behyir would've taken his car but its never any available parking nearby, so the subway is the only option that would be convenient for them.
"Fuck is you talkin' about?! I was in the subway kill dat' noise and watch ya' fucking mouf'!" Leviron grabbed her up by her arm dragging her off somewhere as she continued barking off words In Spanish, something Leviron clearly couldn't understand quite well.
Behyir just shook his head at the two and their toxins, sometimes he found it hilarious how they could go back and forth all day every day.
He made his way to his first class which was the Accounting and Financial Management class, this was one of the required classes that he had to take to obtain his Bussiness Degree. His mind couldn't help but fall on Hikulani, her nice succulent lips, the melodic tone she voiced, it wasn't a soft squeaky voice that he would've assumed she had. It was one of those sexy grown woman voices. He wanted to know more about her, she was just so entrancing to him.
"Behyir!" a high pitch tone took him away from his engrossing thoughts about Hikuilani, facing towards who the voice was coming from, he matched eyes with the tall, stick-figure, light skin girl.
Licking his lips that were thinly covered with the vaseline he applied, he tightened his grip on the shoulder handles of his bookbag, feeling a wave of tension fade from his tall frame.
"What you want Ken?" A tone of urgency was heard through his baritone voice. His class would be starting soon and he still had a long walk across campus awaiting him, he didn't have time for Ken's crazed antics right now.
Ken caught heat of the hostility coming off from his body movements. "I forgot I still got my curling iron at your house, I was meaning to come by and get it if you don't mind."
Behyir eyed her from head to toe peeking the deep wave wig that was damp from her wetting it this morning, flowed lowly down to the middle of her back. A light brown Essentials hoodie was paired with her grey leggings, setting it off with her tan Ugg boots.
"Okay." He calmly replied looking down at her slim frame, with her being close to 5'7 her head stopped right under his chin being that he was 6'0.
Being exes since the beginning of freshman year, the two couldn't stay away from each other for too long. With Ken also being a business major, they were in most of each other classes, it was necessarily impenetrable to avoid each other most of the time.
Awarkadly in a trance, the two stood there engrossing each other energy.
"Wanna fuck?" Ken boldly asked, not surprising Behyir since he was used to her audacious acts.
"Yeah, cmon'." With Behyir already knowing where Ken lived being that he had been over there beforehand, he already knew where to go, she wasn't that far from campus anyways. The accounting class that he was going to be late for didn't even cross his mind. All he was thinking about was Ken's bomb ass pussy, of his critical thinking.
Even though they ended off things on the wrong footing, Behyir couldn't lie and say he still didn't love the girl, maybe it was the vagina that he loved about her, maybe it was her courageous and funny personality that swooned him, all that he knew was that he just couldn't get enough of her, no matter how much he tried to forget about her and their history together.

With it now being a Thursday night, nearing the end of finals week, Hikulani was nearly slumped over on the dining room table, her laptop and notebook laying right beside her.
Taking the nonstop tests for the past few days had Hikulani more than tired, she was exhausted and hadn't been getting barely sleep due to studying late at night. She didn't quite feel 100% confident either, she never did well on big tests like those.
The single-family-owned house was fairly quiet since their father Hakili was at his part-time job, Miyagi was currently over a friend's house since she got on Christmas break earlier, and Kaliko is somewhere out and about in the streets. Hikulani thought this would be a perfect time to study for her final test, but as you can she didn't quite go far.
A new hire at Dynotex Inc factory caused Hakili to be home less and less, the girls rarely got to see him anymore being that he was always at work. He had bills he had to pay and also 3 kids to take care of, he had to do what he had to do. Kaliko was also out doing God knows what, Hikulani was always worried about her sister's safety and didn't like what type of occupation she was currently indulging in.
"Kuku," A groggy voice made out just a few feet away from the dining room table.
Hearing her name being called, she confusingly scrunched her face up wondering who could it be but then remembered she was babysitting her neighbor's 5-year-old son.
"Hey, buddy, what's wrong?" Stretching her arms out, she noticed her laptop was now currently dead and a little bit of drool was spotted on the table.
Must've slept well.
"Can I have some food?" His tight coils were placed messily over his head since he had just awakened from a nap, his pajamas were themed with a spiderman vs hulk paired with his slides to match.
"Your mommy didn't pack you anything Kody?" Closing her AP Physics notebook she quickly stood up mentally regretting feeling light-headedness erupting in her brain. Having low iron levels caused Hikulani to be anemic.
Hakili signed up for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program which produced many groceries to be added to the home. Him barely making enough to keep afloat affected him to be able to receive these benefits, so they were very grateful for that.
Kody simply shook his head no, following Hikulani into the small kitchen.
With her back facing towards him she assumed for that to be a "No." Jazlyn usually would pack a small sandwich and a snack in his backpack, but from his request, she assumed she hadn't. Which was abnormal.
"Chicken noodles sound good? I can make some mad good noodles."
Kody eagerly nodded his head yes hearing noodles, he loved noodles.
Hikulani giggled at his response, "Okay go finish watching your movie while I make it."
"Thank you, Kuku." he gave her a friendly hug, quickly running back over to his spot on the couch, continuing watching a movie on his iPad.
The nickname gave her flashbacks from when her mom used to call her that.
"Mommy look I can swim mommy, I can swim in the water!" A young Kaliko yelled from the beautiful ocean of Maui.
"I see you, my love, don't go too far to where I can't see you okay?" Phoenix called back holding the hand of a fragile Hikulani.
Kaliko gave her the thumbs up half-listening continuing playing in the warm ocean blue water.
"You sure you don't want to go in the water Kuku?" Phoenix bent down so she could be at eye level with Lani. Her eyes were filled with anxiety and terror, she absolutely feared the water.
Hearing no response from her, Phoenix tightened her lips together looking back at Kaliko.
"It's okay baby, mommy's scared of the water too."
Hikulani eyes widen making sure it was her mother talking. She would've never thought her mommy would be scared of the water like her.
"Really?!" She dragged out tightening her grip on her hands
Phoenix laughed at her daughter's reaction finding it quite hysterical she was so surprised.
"Why mommy? Why are you scared?" After her excitement died down, her face was filled with a questionable look.
"Never-ending cycle, it always keeps going never stops."
Seeing the confused look written upon the little girl's face she broke it down some more.
"Like a carousel? never stops turning, never can get off you're just stuck. I'm fearful of that lani, I'm scared of getting stuck."
Hearing that didn't speak volumes to the 8 year old girl then, but now, she could remember the small messages her mom put out that she didn't quite catch back then. She just wished she would've caught it sooner.
