As promised, Melody came to visit Marcus for the entire day. She got there in the morning and it was now around 9, her mother wanted her home by 9:30 but deep down, she knew that wasn't going to happen. Melody and Marcus were in his room playing UNO. "Uno! I fucking win!" Marcus told her. "You still have a card dumbass!" Melody told him. Marcus frowned slightly but then laughed it off. "Marcus! I found your phone!" Max yelled from downstairs. "Oh thank God!" Marcus told Melody. "I was so damn tired of not having it." Marcus continued. It took Max like 5 minutes to finally bring Marcus his phone, and when she finally did she looked pissed. Melody and Marcus figured that she was pissed because of her breakup and brushed it off. "I gotta go now Mar, see ya tomorrow after school." Melody said while standing from her spot and quickly kissing his forehead. "Bye bye, see ya tomorrow." Marcus said before laying down and shutting his lamp off.
The next morning was tense at the Bakers house. Max spent the entirety of breakfast death glaring at Marcus and making snarky remarks. Marcus didn't know what her deal was but decided not to stress about it. His head was still hurting and he didn't feel like dealing with Max's drama today, he was already going to sit through her loud musical later that day.
Melody's grandma gave her a ride to school. When they got their, Melody snarled as she saw Ginny get out of the car in front of theirs. "Is that the bitch you hate doll?" Her grandma asked. "That's her." Melody said while getting out of the car and walking inside. Because Marcus was still gone, Melody hung out with their other friends for the day.
In English, Max was being extremely cold and bitter to both Melody and Ginny. Melody didn't really understand or care why Max was being so mean, but she could see that it was definitely affecting Ginny. Melody would've felt bad if didn't hate her.
As promised, Melody went to hang out with Marcus after school for about an hour before leaving to get ready for the play. She knew Max was pissed at her for some reason that she figured was stupid, but she'd already paid for a 20$ ticket and Melody did not believe in waisting money.
Melody went to the play with her grandmother and as soon as she got there she sat beside Marcus. The room was freezing cold and noisy, it felt overwhelming to be in but the second Max hit the stage, everyone sat in silence and watched her. Marcus was truly impressed. He knew the Max could sing but he never thought she was as good as she was on the stage.
The second number just began when Marcus turned to his parents and signed I'm going to the bathroom. Ellen gave him a thumbs up and watched as he and Melody walked into the hallway.
Melody heard the arguing as soon as she stepped out. As she and Marcus continued to walk down the hall, they slowly realized the voices that were arguing. Marcus was the first to speak up. "Sup?" Marcus asked, making all the attention go to him, "I was just going to the bathroom... so..." he continued as he tried to walk past the group. "We know about you and Ginny." Max said shortly. Marcus stopped dead in his tracks and said, "Ah". Melody internally screamed at him.
"That's all you have to say? You're not gonna deny it?" Max asked him. He shock his head slightly, "I'm not gonna deny it.." Marcus answered his twin. Max sighed, "Well what the ever loving frick-fest! I mean, seriously? You guys are just having sex? That's a thing now? Are you dating? Is he your boyfriend? Are you guys in love?" Max ranted. "No, it's not...we're not together. It was... it was a mistake." Marcus told them. Ginny's face fell, Melody still didn't like her but she felt horrible for Ginny in the moment. Leave it up to Marcus to be the worst at reading the room at all times.
"I need to get out of here." Hunter said while pushing through Ginny and Marcus. "Hunter, Hunter, Hunter please!" Ginny begged. "No, I'm better than this. I was great to you. You didn't deserve it. You're throwing all that away for this. This guy!" Hunter said while pointing to Marcus. "Cool. Good luck with that, that's on you." Hunter said before turning to leave. He suddenly stopped. "No, you know what." Hunter said while pivoting to the group again. He walked towards Marcus. "Come on man it was not-" Marcus tried telling him until Hunter punched him hard in the forehead. Marcus stumbled back, Melody helped him against the wall. "Ok ow! I have a concussion, asshole!" Marcus yelled at Hunter as he walked off.
"I'm in the next act." Max said while walking off. "Hey! I know you're having a drama queen moment right now but that fucker just punched your brother, who has a concussion, in the fucking head! I don't care how pissed you are, you still need to check on him!" Melody shouted at Max. "Don't try to act like you know shit about what to say about me and my twin brothers relationship! I know that you believe you're one of us but you're not!" Max shouted back, "Now, I'm in the second act!" Max said as she turned again. "Max! Max! Maxine!" Abby tried talking to her. "No, don't talk to me. Norah, leave the liars." Max said as she continued walking. Abby turned to Ginny and quietly said, "You're a bitch.". "Ginny.." Marcus tried talking to her. "It was a mistake?" She asked sadly. "I came out here and you were all fighting. I thought it was the right thing to say, it...wasn't it?" Marcus asked. Ginny took a breath. "My mom was right... you're only ever going to hurt me." She said before walking off.
The rest of the play was awkward. They had to sit there and act like nothing happened. After the play, Melody went home with her Grandma while the Bakers went to their home.
"I cannot believe you, have you you no self control you feral cat?" Max ranted as they walked through the front door. "It was none of your business." Marcus snapped back as he walked to the living room. "Uh no, if my friend and my brother are sexing each other, I feel like I kinda deserve to know." Max said. "I helped Ginny edit that photo, God!" Max exclaimed while slapping Marcus's arm. "Why would you do that? My best friend?!" Max asked. Marcus felt the hot anger build up and finally snapped at her and said, "She wasn't you friend when it first happened, she had just moved here and the second time, I'd just had my accident.". "No, no, no, no, you do not get to blame this on your stupid concussion." Max said. "You have no idea how annoying it is to operate on half a brain." Marcus told her. "Oh well, you always operate on half a brain so you know, you should be used to it. God you're such a piece of shit." Maxine told him.
"I may be a piece of shit but Ginny is a better friend than you realize for letting you run around like an entitled brat all the time. You don't even notice all the shit she's struggling with. You don't understand boundaries. You make everything about yourself. You overstep until people suffocate. God... Like Sophie!" Marcus lectured before moving to the couch. "No wonder Ginny was so afraid to tell you." Marcus said before sitting down. "Fall in a ditch!" Maxine said angrily. Marcus internally rolled his eyes before saying, "I already did that.". Maxine started him down before pouncing on him and screaming, "I AM ACTUALLY GOING TO LITERALLY KILL YOU!" "Murder me, please do it!" Marcus screamed back. "I will put my fist to your face!" Maxing shouted "Just do it just Murder me!" Marcus shouted back as he struggled against her. Max was definitely a lot stronger than she looked. "ENOUGH! THATS ENOUGH!" Their mom shouted as she walked into the living room and pulling Max off of Marcus.
"I have had with both of you, and I wanna know what is going on right now!" Their mom said. "Oh mom, I don't know boundaries so I can tell you." Max said. "Max..don't." Marcus begged. "It's the worst betrayal since Jordyn and Kylie." Max said while looking at Marcus. "Max.." Marcus tried. "Marcus and Ginny had sex." Maxine said. Marcus felt himself fill with betrayal, embarrassment, and anger. He turned to look at his mom who was just very confused. "What?" She asked calmly, while she sounded calm the twins could tell that she wasn't.
"I'm waiting for your answer mister." Ellen told Marcus sternly. "If what Maxine is saying is true then I need to tell her mother." She continued. Marcus sighed and nodded his head, "yeah..." he told her awkwardly. Ellen took a deep breath and then walked out of the house. When she was out, Marcus stood up and walked to the stair case. "I wasn't ready to share that news with anyone yet so thank you for completely violating my privacy." Marcus told Max sarcastic as he walked up the stairs. Max rolled her eyes.
When Ellen returned to the house, she had a long discussion with Clint about what their son had been doing as far as having sex and going through Ginny's window. Let me talk to him, this should be a father and son conversation. Clint told Ellen. She nodded her head and watched Clint go off to talk with Marcus.
Melody was sprawled out on her bed, thinking over the past events and contemplating whether or not she was going to call Marcus. She was jerked out of her thoughts when her phone started ringing. She quickly grabbed it and answered. "Hello?" Melody said. "Bam bam how are you doing after... everything." Marcus asked her immediately. Melody let out a breath. "This week is just absolute hell. It's been some sort of fucked up domino effect, one bad event after another." Melody told him. "Yeah, my dad just came into my room and gave me the fucking sex talk! Like I'm some sort of 11 year old!" Marcus told her. "My lord..." Melody said before bursting out in a fit of laughter. "I'm sorry, I just imagined what that looked like." Melody told him while trying to catch her breath.
The next morning at breakfast was extremely awkward for Marcus. He felt like his parents thought he was some kind of sex fiend now. It was completely silent, Max spent the entire time glaring at him. He finally had enough of it and spoke up, "Max if you have something to say, fucking say it!" Marcus told her. "Marcus Andrew Baker!" Ellen exclaimed shocked. "Oh I have a lot to say! You're a creepy sex addict! Who sneaks into a window to have sex with someone you creep!?" Max shouted across the table. "Maxine Alexis! I don't want to hear that language from either of you at this table again! Do I make myself clear?" Ellen told the twins. They silently nodded. "Good. Now knock it off! You guys are sister and brother! Start acting like it!" Ellen told them before standing up and clearing the table.
Marcus had to apologize to Ginny. He humiliated her last night when he called their thing an accident. What the had was not an accident in the slightest. He grabbed his skate board and skated to her house. "Hey.." he said as he approached her. "Hey" Ginny said. "I didn't mean that it was a mistake. I'm sorry I shouldn't have said that I don't this it was a mistake." He told her. "It's ok. I forgive you." Ginny told him. "Okay... good. I do love you." Marcus told her as he walked closer to her. He noted the sudden change in her facial expression that just screamed that something was wrong. "Ginny?" Marcus asked in a very concerned tone. Ginny relaxed her stance, "Marcus, it's fine. Ok? We're all good, let's just talk about this later." Ginny told him in an attempt to ease his anxiety. "Ok... you seem kinda off. I don't want you to... hurt yourself. I can stay here if you'd like." He told her carefully. "I'm fine. But I do have to get to city hall so..." Ginny told him. "Yeah, yeah Ok. Um... see you later." Marcus told her before skating away from her house.
Marcus layed in bed that night thinking about how shitty his life became in the past few days. This depression he was feeling was the most depressed he'd felt in months. He wished he could turn back time. Back to the summer where he and Melody spent their days smoking weed, back to when he and Max didn't hate each other, back to when he wasn't seen as some sex addict. He called Melody and she picked up on the first ring. "Hello?" She said. "Damn that was fast." Marcus told her, "Were you at the phone desperately awaiting my call?" Marcus asked her dramatically. Melody laughed at him, "Don't flatter yourself Baker, if you weren't injured I wouldn't have answered." She told him. "Ouch." Marcus chuckled. "Don't you miss when everything used to be normal?" Marcus asked Melody. "Yeah... high school sucks balls." Melody responded. "Literally! Nothing good has come from high school so far. I mean, first Drew dies and then all this shit happens." Marcus told her. "Yeah, it isn't fucking fair. It's traumatizing." Melody told him. "Yeah.." Marcus said.
A few hours later, Marcus was fast asleep. He was woken abruptly by his mom and dad coming into his room and flipping the light on. He squinted at them, afraid to fully open his eyes because of his concussion. "Marcus, do you want to explain why your motorcycle is not in the garage?" His mother asked him accusingly. "Wait what?" Marcus exclaimed as he sat up. "I didn't touch it I swear. I've been in here for hours." Marcus told them. "Then who took it?" His mom asked. Marcus shrugged. His mom sighed, she believed him. "Night my love." She said as she turned his light off. Marcus was too tired to think anymore of his bike and went right back to sleep.
The next morning as the family had breakfast, there was a loud knocking heard at the door. Marcus got up and answered it only to see it was Georgia. "I was coming here to talk to you. Do you know where my daughter and son are?" Georgia asked him, she sounded fed up and tired. Marcus was almost afraid when he had to tell her that he hadn't seen them. He shook his head. "What about Max? Does she know?" Georgia asked more frantically. "Max! Do you know where Ginny and Austin are!?" Georgia shouted from the front door. "No, I haven't seen them since school the other day." Max responded. Georgia started to become panicky. Marcus tried to ask her to come inside and have a glass of water, but she took off running. He closed the door and ran back into the kitchen, "Ginny and Austin are gone. Georgia can't find them." Marcus told his family.
