Season 10 x 6
Calliope and Sam come out of the main lobby of the motel, and walk over to Dean who was once again working on Baby. "Here you go, individually brewed, technology, man" Sam says as he passes Dean a small paper cup with coffee.
"Real men don't drink out of cups this small." Dean says as he takes a sip, "What is that? Cinnamon roll?" he asks.
"Nope, glazed donut, but if you don't want it" Calliope smiles as she goes to take the coffee.
"No, I got it" he says as he then drinks the coffee, "So any leads on the scanner? Or the Inter-web?" Dean asks.
"Nothing, not even a cat up a tree" Sam tells him.
"So right when we're ready to jump back into it, it goes radio silence?" Dean says.
"Murphy's Law" Sam comments.
"Yeah, well Murphy's a douche" Dean then says as he picks up a phone, "Feel like taking a detour to Connecticut." He asks the two of them.
"What?" Calliope asks.
"Found it while I was dust busting" he says showing her and Sam the phone.
"One of ours?" Sam asks taking it.
"One of Bobby's. And in total 27 messages. The only one that counts is from two days ago. Apparently, Bobby's been named a beneficiary in Bunny Lacroix's will." Dean explains to them.
"Bunny La-who?" Sam asks.
"Attorney said she's an heiress. And Bobby's presence, or next of kin, is being requested in New Canaan. I figure we qualify" Dean says to them as he takes a sip of coffee.
"How the heck did Bobby know an heiress?" Calliope then asks.
"Bobby had secrets, sweetheart. Like loving on Tori Spelling. If he only knew Dean cheated on her" Dean says to her and she just looks at him confused. "Anyway, road trip? Who knows? Maybe Bobby earned us some beer money" he shrugs.
Dean pulls the Impala up to a mansion and parks, as they see fancy cars parked around them, "Wow, you think we're a little underdressed? I mean, the fed threads are in the trunk" Sam says to them as they step out.
"Nope, I think I look great, and for once we don't have to wear those stupid monkey suits" Calliope smiles at Sam, as they walk up to the door.
Dean then presses the button for the doorbell, and they hear classical music play as they wait. The doors open and a young woman in a maid suit appears, "May I help you?" she asks them.
"We are Sam, Dean and Calliope Winchester, we are here on behalf of Bobby Singer. I am Dean's wife" Calliope tells her.
"Mr. Singer won't be coming?" she asks.
"No, he passed away" Dean tells her.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that" she says.
"Condolences for your loss too" Sam says to her.
"Thank you. Well, you just missed the funeral, but the family's relaxing inside, if you'd like to join" the maid says. The three of them look at one another, and sigh as they follow her inside the home.
"My wife?" Dean whispers to Calliope.
"I'm dead remember" she whispers back.
"Right" he says to her as they continue inside. They look around as they follow the maid to a main study of the house where there is a group of fancy dressed people inside.
"Allow me to introduce, Calliope, Sam and Dean Winchester
"Sam and Dean of the Westchester Winchesters?" a blonde lady stands up coming over to them.
"Uh, no, no I don't think there's any relation" Sam tells her.
"No" Dean says.
"No matter, you two are...adorable" the woman says.
"I'm Dean's wife" Calliope then says seeing how the woman was looking at the boys.
"You are a very beautiful woman" the lady says, "I'm Heddy, Bunny's cousin. And this is my sister, Beverly" she points to the woman sitting in the chair.
"Charmed, I'm sure" Beverly says to them.
"And that's Bunny's youngest brother, Stanton. Stan for short" Heddy says.
"Come on in, join the mourning" the man at the pool table says.
"And his child bride, Amber" Heddy adds.
"And there's Dash, the baby of the family" Heddy points to the man standing by the fireplace. "He's Bunny's great-nephew. Harvard Business" she says.
"How do you guys know Aunt Bunny?" Dash asks them.
"We didn't personally know her. Our surrogate dad, Bobby Singer, did" Sam tells him.
"Bobby? never heard of him" Beverly says. "But you can fill us in over the weekend, huh?" she adds smiling at Sam.
"Uh, the weekend?" Calliope then asks.
"Didn't the attorney tell you? Service was today. The reading of the will tomorrow." Heddy tells them.
"Oh but you're welcome to spend the night. All the rooms sleep two" Beverly says looking at Sam again.
"Or three" Heddy says slapping Dean's rear.
"He's married" Calliope says.
"Make it four then" Heddy smirks at her.
"Where's Colette?" Amber then asks.
"She quit" the butler that had come into the room says. "Poor dear was so distraught over Mrs. Lacroix's passing. Went off to find herself." He goes on to explain.
"Ashram in India?" Heddy asks.
"Clown college in Sarasota" the butler says.
"Good choice" Heddy says.
The butler then walks up to Sam, Dean and Calliope, "May I have a word with you in the hall for five minutes?" he asks them.
"Um, yeah, sure" the three of them say.
"So, um Sam, do you work out" Beverly then comes up to Sam smiling once again.
Calliope, Dean and Sam excuse themselves and go to follow the butler, "'Charmed, I'm sure' What are these people?" Dean says to Sam and Calliope.
"I think their called WASPS" Sam says.
"What?" Calliope asks and Sam clears his throat as the butler comes up to them.
"My apologizes for being so oblique back there, but I'm doing you boys and madam a favor" he says to them.
"Okay?" Sam says.
"As you know Mrs. Lacroix bequeathed something to a Mr. Singer. But the reading of the will isn't until tomorrow. And I would hate for you to have to stick around. And be forced to, well, mingle with the family" he says to the three of them.
"Don't worry Alfred. We know which one the shrimp fork is" Dean then says and Calliope lightly elbows him. "Kind of" he then says.
"Oh Mr. Winchester if you're implying that I don't think you're good enough...it's quiet the contrary, You're far too good. The Lacroix family is, well how shall I say this politely? Money-grubbing leeches." The butler says.
"What are you talking about I thought they were all loaded" Dean says.
"Loaded, yes. Rich? No. The recession hit every one of them. And I'm afraid if they knew what Bunny left you...those vultures would try to stake claim. And since the attorney kindly agreed to a handoff... you don't have to be subjected to their scrutiny." He tells them as he hands Dean an envelope.
"So you have any idea how Bunny and Bobby knew each other?" Sam asks.
"Not in the slightest" he says but somehow Sam and Calliope can tell he's hiding something. "Now if there's nothing else, shall I have Olivia show you out?" he asks as the maid from earlier appears.
"No, no, we got it, thank you" Calliope says to him and he nods as he walks away with Olivia.
Dean opens the envelope and a cross is inside, with gems encrusted in it, "Huh" Dean says, "Kind of fancy to leave a guy like Bobby"
"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Sam says to Dean.
"That Bunny was banging Bobby, then maybe these rocks are real" he smiles at his brother.
After leaving the house, they head to a local pawn shop, where Dean has the owner look the cross over, "What do you mean it's not real? The old bag is rolling in it" Dean says pissed at what the pawn shop guy said.
"Well, looks like the 'old bag' has got a soft spot for fake rubies and cubic zirconia" he tells them, "This is interesting though" he says as he pulls the bottom off the cross, "it's a key" he tells them.
Sam takes it, and the guy walks away, "A key to what?" Sam asks.
"There's one way to find out. Ask Jeeves." Dean says to them, as they then leave the pawn shop.
They head back to the mansion, where they notice a car that has a police light in the front of it. Stepping out of the car, they head back to the front door, and ring the doorbell once again. The butler opens the door not looking too pleased to see the three of them again, "Is everything okay?" Calliope asks.
"Not really" he sighs, as the three of them step inside the house.
"I presume the three of you left something behind. I'll check the front closet for burlap" he says to them.
"I got news for you, Mr. Belvedere the jacket's canvas" Dean remarks.
Just then a gentleman approaches them, "Uh you three were here earlier?" he asks them.
"Yeah, who wants to know?" Dean asks.
The guy then shows his badge and gun, "Detective Howard, New Canaan P.D. Congratulations you three. You're not officially murder suspects" the detective says.
"I'm sorry, what?" Dean asks.
"Bunny Lacroix's brother, Stanton, was killed this evening. He's body's just gone to the morgue" Detective Howard says.
"And you think-" Dean starts to say.
"I don't know what to think. That's why you three and anyone else who stepped foot in this house today... is being detained for questioning." He tells them and the three of them share a look with one another, Dean clearly not happy about this.
The three of them then enter another room where they can hear Heddy, Beverly and Dash all arguing.
"Old lady? Ha, ha, I'm 39" Heddy says as soon as she sees Sam.
"And you have been since '03" Dash remarks looking at the three of them.
"How dare you" Heddy remarks.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but who's guilty?" Sam asks them.
"The town slut, Amber. She killed Stan" Heddy says looking at Dash.
"And what's her motive, Murder, She Wrote? " He asks her.
"Everyone knows that Amber was sleeping around. She wanted to leave Stan, but her pre-nup was ironclad so she killed him" Heddy says.
"Sounds logical" Dean says to Sam and Calliope.
"Unless you believe that ridiculous story that she's been peddling" Heddy then says, "A ghost killed Stanton, honestly" she adds.
"A ghost?" Calliope asks her.
"She's claiming that Bunny's late husband, Lance, did it. Have you ever heard such a thing? What a panic, so stupid" Heddy says.
"You're nutty as a squirrel on those synthetic hormones" Dash says getting in her face.
"Nutty, how appaling. Don't they teach you manners at Harvard?" she says back at him.
As the two of them bicker, Dean, Sam and Calliope step away, looking at one another, "guess we might have a possible case here, maybe vengeful spirit?" Calliope says to the brothers.
"Yeah, think we can get to the car? Get the EMF?" Dean then asks.
Sam scoffs, "Not with Detective Friendly, not a chance. Guess we're gonna have to go old school" he says to them.
"Okay, then cold spots it is, Sam you stay here and keep an eye on Miss Peacock and Colonel Mustard, Dean and I will go look around" Calliope smiles at Sam as her and Dean leave the room.
Dean and Calliope and head down a hallway, "Guess my antics are rubbing off on you, Miss Peacock and Colonel Mustard, something I would say" Dean says to her.
"Yeah, well been around you and Sam for so long, I guess your quirks would eventually kick in" she smiles as they continue to look around. Dean then spots a statue of armour and he steps up to it lifting up the helmet, and looks inside. "The ghost isn't gonna be in the knight Dean" Calliope says to him, as they continue on.
Back in the room Sam walks over to Dash, "Hey, gotta say for a family that just lost two members, you all seem fine" he says to Dash.
"Well, Sam, I'll let you in on a little family secret" Dash says to him, "We don't really like each other" he then whispers to Sam. "Them again, what family does?" Dash adds.
"Mine does" Sam then says to him, "For the most part. It's just my brother and me, and I guess my sister in law, So..." he says.
"Then you're lucky" Dash says to Sam, "Trust me, it's a miracle we've been under the same roof for 24 hours and haven't-" Dash stops and looks at Sam realizing his choice in words, "Opps, my bad' he then says.
"And, uh, why are you so sure Amber didn't do it?" Sam asks.
"Because Amber's not a killer. She has trouble using the Wi-Fi. I don't exactly think she's capable of murder" Dash tells him.
Dean and Calliope continue down the hallway, "I feel like we are in a Scooby-Doo cartoon, you know creepy mansion, knight statue, creepy paintings that make you feel like the eyes are watching you" Calliope says to Dean, as they head down the hall toward where they can see the police tape and the body lined out on the carpet.
"You love Scooby-Doo?" he smiles at her asking.
"Always loved the goofy dog" she smiles back, as she then notices something on the bookshelf that they walk next to. "Hey, you still have that cross on you?" she asks Dean.
"Uh, yeah" he says as he takes it out and hands it to her, she takes it and holds it up to a book that she noticed, and holds the cross up.
"And just like in Scooby Doo" she says as she pulls on the book that had the matching cross, and the bookshelf moves revealing a secret door. "Hidden door, want to bet that key that's hidden in the cross opens it" she smiles at Dean.
Sam looks at Dash, "And her story about the ghost?" he asks.
"I don't believe in ghosts" Dash tells him. "That said, if anyone would come back to haunt, it's Uncle Lance. Heard he was a real bastard. No one really mourned his death. Except Aunt Bunny, who became a recluse after he died. So, maybe the old goat has a chip on his shoulder? Who the hell knows?" Dash says to Sam as they hear footsteps.
The detective and Amber walk into the room, "Dash" the detective says, "You're up" he adds. Dash takes a swig of the rest of his drink, places the glass down and walks away from Sam, going with the detective.
Calliope takes the cover on the cross off revealing the key, and puts it into the lock and turns, and they watch as the door unlocks and open. "Well...well...well" she says looking at Dean, as she then pockets the cross.
"Okay, just.. just stay behind me okay" Dean says stepping around her, and entering the hidden area. He then looks on the wall and sees a pipe and then sees a rope, he picks them both up and smiles at Calliope.
Dean puts the rope back down, but keeps the pipe in his hand, as they walk up the staircase. Coming up the stairs they come to a dusty and cobwebbed room, and both of them take flashlights out, and start to shine them around the room. They see lots of old items in the room, and Calliope shines her light spotting a plate with a half eaten sandwich on it. Just then Dean spots something and he nudges Calliope and she looks to where he was pointing his flashlight. They see a pair of feet, and see a rolled up rug, when they suddenly hear movement. Calliope moves her flashlight and they see Olivia the maid.
"Dean? Calliope?" she says and they can see a scared look on her face.
"Olivia?" they both say to her.
"Thank God. I thought you were him" she says to them, relief in her voice.
"Him who?" Dean asks her.
"Phillip, the butler. He locked me in here, because I wouldn't lie to the detective about what I saw." She tells them.
"What was it you saw?" Calliope asks her.
"I saw him roll Colette's body in a rug" she tells her.
"Clown college Colette?" Dean asks., "The butler killed her?" he then asks.
"No, no, he just...he just hid her" Olivia says.
"But who killed her?" Dean asks.
"I know this is gonna sound crazy, but I saw it with my own eyes" she says.
"Let me guess, Lance's ghost" Dean says to her.
Olivia looks at them, "No, Bunny's" she tells them.
The three of them leave the room, and Dean and Calliope go to talk to Sam, who they find playing cards with Beverly and Heddy. "Excuse me" he tells the ladies as he gets up from the table, "Hey, what's up?" Sam asks coming over to Dean and Calliope.
"You see the butler?" Dean asks him.
"No, why?" Sam asks.
"Because if anybody had answers, it's him. We're dealing with two vengeful spirits. Apparently, Aunt Bunny had a bee in her bonnet as well." Dean tells him.
"Husband and wife tag team killer ghosts?" Sam says to them.
"Well, gotta keep the marriage alive somehow" Dean says smiling at Calliope.
"The key" Calliope says as she takes it out of her pocket, "is to a hidden attic" she tells Sam.
"Why would Bunny want Bobby to have a key to her attic?" Sam asks them.
"We don't know, but it gets weirder" Dean then says to him.
"We found Olivia and Colette locked up in the attic" Calliope tells him.
"Clown college Colette?" Sam asks them.
"Yeah, but she ain't studying balloon animals. She's dead" Dean tells him.
"Now, what does the butler have to do with all this?" Sam asks.
"He was the one who locked them up there" Calliope tells him.
"Now, we don't know why, but he's covering for the spooks. He's acting like their Renfield" Dean says.
"All right, we gotta find him" Sam says.
"Okay, Sam you take upstairs, and we will take down here" Calliope says.
"All right" Dean say as they split up.
Calliope and Dean head down a hall, and enter a door, where they see a little hallway. Walking down they notice a door marked Butler's Quarters. Dean sees a wrench on a shelf nearby and picks it up, as they then slowly open the door and walk inside. They enter the Butler's Quarters to see it looks like a small apartment, when they spot Phillip coming out of another area.
"Leaky faucet's down the hall" he remarks seeing them in the mirror he was standing in front of.
"Cut the crap, Wadsworth. What are you doing hiding dead maids in secret rooms?" Dean asks him.
"I know it all looks rather peculiar but I can explain" he says turning to face them, and he does just that.
"So you hid Colette's body in the attic so she wouldn't steal Bunny's thunder?" Dean asks him.
"I couldn't stand the thought of overshadowing Mrs. Lacroix's funeral with another death. She deserved a proper farewell. I owed it to her." He tells them.
"Well, that's crazy" Dean says.
"No, Mr. Winchester. That's loyalty." He tells him as he turns to fix his bowtie.
Just then Dean's phone vibrates and he takes it out, where they see a text from Sam, Just found Philip. Dead. Dean and Calliope look at one another before turning to face Philip. He then grabs Dean and tosses him across the room, before doing the same to Calliope. They both land heard, and when they go to get up they hear a sound and look to see something in a pile before the door.
"Shapeshifter" Calliope says to Dean as they look at the pile of flesh on the ground.
"Yep" he says as he takes the phone out and calls Sam.
"Dean, yeah?" Sam says to him.
"Sam, it's not a ghost." Dean tells him.
"What?" Sam asks.
"It's a shapeshifter." Dean says.
