Adrenaline rush.
That was the only phrase Bea could possibly use to describe how she was feeling right now.
The breeze was cool and refreshing, blowing the baby strands of her hair - that didn't quite make it into the ponytail - into any direction possible. The vehicle she was in viciously shook against the floor, the wheels crunching against the dirt road. Her heart hammered against her ribcage in nervousness but butterflies also swarmed in her stomach in excitement.
Her eyes flashed sideways to catch Harriet's who had a knowing smirk on her face. And with that, the dark-skinned girl quickly moved the gear stick, slamming her food harder down on the accelerator. The vehicle jolted so much that Bea had to latch onto the side of the roof for support.
Newt, Evan and Dean were sat in the back of the car, chattering mindlessly and Bea realised this was the first time she had seen Newt genuinely happy. Maybe she had underestimated the bond between Minho and Newt.
Her thoughts about the blonde boy came to a halt - and so did the car.
"We have arrived at your destination," Harriet announced, in a robotic voice like the one you would hear on a GPS. All three boys hopped out the vehicle, nodding a 'thank you' towards Harriet before parting ways and moving towards their hiding spots.
Harriet returned the key in the ignition, firing up the dusty vehicle again. The familiar humming came back on as she began reversing the car. Vince had suggested she ditch the car quite a while away, just incase anyone spotted it.
"You ready for this?" she asked Bea, her hand resting on the brunette girl's head rest as she made a U-turn.
"Ready as I'll ever be," Bea chuckled in response. "Are you ready?"
"You bet your ass I am," Harriet laughed, a pure smile on her face.
They fell into a comfortable silence for a few minutes. Just the odd chirping of birds, the mechanical buzz of the car and the tyres rolling against the gravel and sand. After a few minutes of driving Harriet stopped the car, hopping out with Bea doing the same.
The black haired girl grabbed two revolvers, each of their walkie talkies, some cloth and rope from the backseat, chucking one of the guns to Bea.
"Thanks," she said, swiftly catching the revolver. The two started heading in the direction they had driven in, Harriet glancing at her watch ever few seconds. Bea glanced towards Harriet out of her peripheral vision, a small smile creeping onto her lips at the latter girl's anxious but cute facial expression. Bea was about to ask her about her mental debate when she spoke up before her.
"What if we miss the train?" she asked nervously, fiddling with the loose thread on the end of her jacket.
"We won't," Bea responded firmly.
"What if we get caught by the guards?"
"We won't."
"What if they aren't in the same carriage and it's just Minho and-"
"Harri. Stop worrying," Bea sighed, playfully glaring at the girl, "It will be fine. And if anyone goes wrong or not according to plan we will figure it out then. But that is only if it happens."
Harriet took a few deep breaths, clearing her mind of any worried thoughts before nodding. "Okay."
Once they made it to the area they were supposed to wait, they began to go over their own plan.
"So," Bea began, "When we see the berg, we follow it but stay low."
Harriet nodded, "And when it lands and the majority of the guards come out we sneak inside."
"And if they're anyone left in the back we tie them up," Bea continued, "And then we do the same to the pilot and-"
"And we only use the guns if we have to," Harriet finished. Both girls nodded, their plan fresh in their minds as they began their wait.
Bea leaned back on the boulder behind her, stretching out her legs and folding her arms across her chest. Harriet copied her position, shuffling next to her. The two girls lay there for a while, eyes closed enjoying the cool freeze and the sun on their faces.
After time had passed, Bea squinted one eyes open, glancing at Harriet's peaceful figure. Her heartbeat subconsciously started to quicken causing her eyes to immediately flickered away.
I like her. No I don't. Yes I do. No I don't. Yes I do. No I don't. Yes I-
Bea scoffed, inwardly cursing at her mental monologue. Harriet's eyes opened slightly, a small smirk on her face.
"You good?"
Bea rubbed her temple, unsure on how to phrase her answer. "Oh-um, yes. I'm fine-just...thinking." Harriet nodded, leaving the brunette girl to her thoughts.
And then they heard the train.
Simultaneously, both girls bolted up, scrambling into a crouched position. Bea's eyes darted from left to right in search of the train. Less than ten seconds later she heard the revving of an engine - signalling Brenda and Jorge were on the move. Harriet kept her eyes plastered on the sky, ready to alert Bea when the Berg comes.
All of a sudden, the train zoomed past them, carriage after carriage after carriage.
Shit, it's gonna be harder to find Minho than we thought.
"There!"
Bea instantly looked upwards at Harriet's word, spotting the Berg straight away.
She smirked, "Bingo."
The two girls began their chase, staying low as they trailed Berg, glancing upwards every few seconds to make sure they were going in the correct direction. The Berg landed a couple metres beside the track, the back doors immediately opening as soon as it hit the ground.
Out of the corner of her eyes, Bea could see Jorge and Brenda in their vehicle, making their way to the booby trap right on time. At the angle she was at, she could see Fry hiding behind some tall boulders and she almost wanted to laugh at her easy the plan was going. But they hadn't completed it yet.
Her eyes flickered back to the Berg to see the last of the guards making their way out. Herself and Harriet waited a minute - just incase there were any that were lagging behind - before they started heading towards the Berg.
"Now!" Harriet whispered, grabbing onto Bea's forearm and they made a quick sprint for the open Berg.
As the guards were faced away from them, it made their chances of being caught incredibly lower. Once they reached it, they immediately hid at the side, pressing their backs against the cool metal. Bea tilted her head, glancing round the corner of the Berg to look at the inside.
Inside at the back were a few guards, some talking on their radios and some reloading guns. Bea turned back round, nodding her head at Harriet, the latter nodding back, knowing what Bea had meant.
Slowly and quietly, they crept around the side until the were in full view. The few guards stopped what they were doing at the sight of the two figures. The girls held their guns up - not wanting to shoot but also not afraid to - and a finger to their lips, signalling to be quiet.
All guards placed whatever objects that were in their hands down, holding their hands in the air. Harriet stayed where she was as Bea put away her gun, grabbing the cloth and using it as a gag, placing it in all of their mouths. She then grabbed the rope, tying up their legs and arms before nodding at Harriet.
The girl nodded as they silently made their way to the pilots deck. Harriet glanced at Bea, making eye contact before jerking her head to the left then to the right. Understanding this, Bea moved to the left side of the pilot while Harriet moved to the left. They glanced outside the windscreen just in time to see the guards fall into the hole that was the booby trap they had set up.
Yes. Another part of the plan done. I hope Thomas, Newt and Vince are doing their part right.
The pilot began to freak out, almost instantly reaching to grab his radio to notify other guards. But that's when Harriet stopped her. She pressed down on the safety lock of her revolver, making a clicking sound.
The pilot froze, inhaling a sharp breath before swivelling his head to make eye contact with Harriet. The girl grinned, the nozzle of the revolver pressed against the side of his head.
"Hi."
Shit that's hot.
Almost immediately after, each girl grabbed a bit of the rope; Harriet tying his arms behind his back while Bea tied his legs together. With a strong push, they managed to get him to his feet before moving him outside of the Berg.
They turned around to grab the other guards when Bea stopped. "Wait!"
Digging into her pocket, she fished out the last of the cloth, tying it around the pilot's mouth as a gag. Turning her head around, Harriet smiled at her, shaking her head.
"What?" Bea laughed, "Better to be safe than sorry."
They then moved out the other guards one by one so it was just Harriet and Bea left in the Berg. Harriet swiftly grabbed her walkie talkie that was hooked onto he belt.
"Jorge we're ready for you," she spoke into the mic.
"Right back at you, hermana." Jorge's voice sounded out of it. Less than a few seconds later, Jorge appeared in their view with Brenda and Frypan by his side. The old man had an excitable grin on his face as he rushed in, heading straight for the cockpit.
Brenda shook her head at Jorge, a small smile on her face. "How did your part go?"
"Went smoothly," Harriet answered for both of them while Bea nodded, "You?"
"Smoothly too. You should have scenes the guard's faces when they fell into the hole," Brenda laughed glancing at Fry with a knowing look on her face, "Vince set up that booby trap well."
"All aboard chicos!"
All three girls and Fry turned their attention to Jorge and began making their way to the front of the Berg. They huddled around Jorge as he began to start of the Berg, cackling excitedly to himself. Bea felt butterflies in her stomach as the Berg began to rise, a grin stretching on her face.
Her eyes flashed to Jorge who had an even bigger smile on his face as he steered the Berg higher into the sky. "Alright boys," he called out ecstatically, "We're here!" As he adjusted the gear stick to put the gearstick to fly closer to the train
He nodded at the three girls and Fry who rushed to the other end of the plain. Brenda smashed onto a button on one of the walls, opening up the bottom of the Berg, letting out a chain. A screeching sound erupted as a metal hook dangled downwards towards the top of the train.
Bea watched as it moved lower until Thomas managed to grab it. With the help of Newt he yanked it down, hooking it onto the ropes the boys had attached the trainer.
"Go! Go!" Thomas shouted, moving his hand around to signal to Fry.
"Okay we're clear!" Fry hollered to Jorge as he and the girls made it back to the cockpit.
"Okay! We're going up," Jorge announced as Bea felt a weird sensation in her stomach. She glanced out of the window to see the train being lifted up and Vince jumping onto the side ladder just in time.
She grinned as she heard some shouts of relief coming from the top of the train - of course, belonging to Thomas.
"We're going home, baby," Jorge smirked
We're going home
---
"Hurry up Thomas," Bea urged nervously, as she watched her brother use an electric saw to try and pry the door of the train open.
"Don't rush me," he half-muttered back as he concentrated on getting it open. He shared a small look with Newt who was behind him who had a barely visible smirk on his face. A clanking of metal signaled the door had been open as Thomas stood up.
Placing the electric saw to the side, he gripped the metal handle in his hands, pulling on the door. Bea felt giddy as the door opened. They had done it. Thomas stepped in, Newt and Bea immediately after, followed by Fry and Harriet.
Bea's eyes glanced around the dark room until she locked eyes with Aris.
"Oh my god, Aris," she breathed out, rushing towards the boy pulling him into a hug. He was unable to return the gesture due to his hand being chained up but Bea knew he was feeling the exact same way.
"It's okay guys. You're safe now," she heard Thomas reassure to the kids.
She turned her attention to Sonya, giving her shoulder a small squeeze. "I'm so glad you guys are okay." She didn't know the girl that well but nonetheless she was still happy that she was okay and now safe.
"I'll be back in a minute," she said softly, turning her attention back to Aris, pressing a small kiss to his forehead.
Leaning up from her crouched position, she started walking forewords, her shoulder brushing past Newt who was walking in the opposite direction. Her eyes flitted around the few dozens of kids as her stomach started to swell with dread.
"We need a bolt-cutter," she heard someone say but the words were muffled and slurred as her mind was focused on something else. Or rather someone else.
Her eyes widened in disbelief as she glanced towards the entrance of the carriage were Newt was standing. Neither had to say anything as they knew what the other one wanted to say.
Minho isn't here.
