Gaat International School,
Abuja.
Sakeena...
"Sakeena, Sakeenatou wake up." I felt a hand poking me.
"Wake up, someone is here to see you." Maymuna said pointing outside in the environment of the school. I looked up only to see Imran outside in front of our class talking to Mr. Daniel, the exam officer of our school.
He waved at me and I waved back.
"Miss Ibrahim and Miss Kabir, I can clearly see your attentions are not here with us" I heard our geography say.
"Sorry sir" Both Maymuna and I said at the same time.
"This is a very important topic and you will do yourselves favours if you concentrate." he said adjusting his spectacles.
"I so much hate this man" I heard Maymuna say beside me.
"I'm on board with on that train" I said laughing a little bit.
After a long boring lesson about the inner and outer layers of the Earth, the class was finally over.

"And that was how I almost survived the heartattack Amrah almost gave me on Saturday" I concluded my narration to Imran about how Amrah almost dropped my phone inside the toilet on Saturday.
I glanced at Imran to see him zoned out. I clapped her hands in front of him and said to myself under my breath"Is he even listening to me?"
I followed the direction of his view only to find him looking at Asma'u, his ex girlfriend and a girl with an ego as huge as Mount Everest, she thinks she's better than everybody, she's an 11th grader. She actually dumped him for his friend and since then he was heart broken. They made a really bad couple, constantly fighting and arguing with her annoying endless nagging.
He does everything an ideal boyfriend to do for his girlfriend, he's the best but best isn't enough for her. We used to be "friends" simply because she think I'm "pretty" she once complimented me, but ever since she received the news of Imran and I in a relationship, she switched faces.
I brought my attention back to Imran and see him still zoned out. "Imran." I called louder this time clapping my hands with more force in front of his face.
He simply glanced at me and looked away. "Yes." His nonchalance attitude made me frown, my forehead creasing.
I turned a blind eye to his attitude and asked. "What's wrong with you?"
"It's nothing, I'm fine." He said obviously lying.
I puffed my cheeks out. "You're lying." I voiced with a serious face.
He rubbed his hands together and blew out some air. "I'm just thinking about the upcoming prefectship election, I really can't believe I won't be head boy anymore." He said with a sad smile, refusing to look at me in the eye.
"Well, you still have 4 months before that, just try and make it memorable for yourself." I advised, flashing him a small supportive smile.
He smiled back. "I will."
"Want to hang out today?" I said trying to cheer him up.
"Sounds great." he said grinning widely showing off his straight set of pearly white teeth, he's got the cutest smile.
"I'll come over later in the evening."
"Okay."
The bell rang, disrupting our short time together. "I got to get back to class." I straightened the invisible creases on my skirt as I stood up
"See you later baby." he leaned and tried to peck me on the cheek but I quickly moved.
"Bye Nanu." I briskly walked away knowing he hates the name with passion, but who will I annoy if not him? Who will annoy him if not me?

I got home, took a bath cause I was feeling so sticky and sweaty today, It's currently fifteen minutes to five in the afternoon and I am getting ready to go over to Maymuna's in house.
I walked into my closet wandering what to wear. After ten minutes of being indecisiveness, I finally decide to wear a black abaya with silver rhinestones at the bottom and on the sleeves of the abaya. I tied my messy hair into a tight bun reminding my self to have a wash day to tame the frizzy mess.
Stepping out of my room and made way to Mamie's room, I met with my elder brother Fahad dressed in his camouflage uniform. He is in Nigeria Defense Academy.
"Hey not so other half." I said hitting him hard on his upper arm.
"Hey that hurts you know." he said rubbing the place.
"And yet you want to become a soldier" I said making air quoted soldier with my fingers.
"Whatever, one day I will become a general In Sha Allah" he said raising his arm so that his muscles will bulge out.
"I guess all that gyming paid off." I said looking at his arm.
When I wrote my BECE exams, he literally forced me to join a gym he always goes to claiming I'm always at home and I eat too much thus I'm getting fat. I mean he knows how I seriously hates it when I get called fat.
"Yeah it did good for both me and you otherwise you would've been the size of a baby elephant by now." he said
I threw him a harsh glare. "I'm seriously going to make you pay for his."
"We'll see how you can get back at the mighty and strong soldier." he said smirking.
"Yeah we'll see and when I do that I'll be the one smirking." I said.
"We'll see" he said still smirking.
I feel like wiping that smirk off his face with a punch.
"We'll see" I shouted as he makes his way out off the front door.
I went to Mamie's room to inform her I'll be going to Maymuna's. I knocked on Mamie's door and she told me to come in. I met her reading the Qur'an. I sat down on the black couch in Mamie's room. Mamie's room is pretty big, much bigger than mine.
The room is painted in beige colour with a red wallpaper with golden roses printed on it. A blackish white-ish kinda bed with matching bed side drawers with lamps on each. A wardrobe of the same color as the bed with sliding doors and a mirror in the middle door.
A big black and grey carpet in the middle of the room, in front of the bed, a smaller one of the same type in front of the wardrobe. Red curtains with swirls of intricate golden designs on it. A dresser of the same type as the bed, the bedside drawer and wardrobe. A chest of drawers too. So basically, the wardrobe, bed side drawers, dresser and chest of drawers are a set.
(A/N: I seriously suck in making description of things. I really tried my best to make the description better for your understandings, please bear with me. Read on).
"Naisa, where are you going all dressed up?" Mamie said pulling me out of my pull of thoughts.
"Mamie I want to go over to Maymuna's, we have a project to work on for school" I voiced, by the way I wasn't lying, I do have a project for school with Maymuna.
"Okay, ask Mallam Tahir to drop you off after the drops Fahad at the train station. Be sure to be back before maghrib, when you're done just call me and I'll send the driver to pick you up." Mamie said folding the prayer mat.
"Okay Mamie, will do, sai na dawo". I said kissing her on the cheek.
I met my brother and the driver putting Fahad's trolley in the trunk of the car. I hate to admit it but I'm seriously going to miss him.
"Mamie's said you guys should drop me off at Maymuna's before you go to the train station."
"Okay, let's go." the driver said.
Maymuna and I's houses are not that far from each other, we both live in lifecamp.
"When are you coming back?" I turned to ask my brother.
"In the next three months." he said. I nodded my head before alighting the car.
"I'll see you soon then, bye." I said waving at him through the window and watched the car zoom off before I went into the house. I'm surely gonna miss him.
I pressed the door bell button and enter. "Salamualaikum." I said as I entered the house.
"Adda Naisa." Little Khalid, Maymuna's younger brother ran to me as fast as his little legs could carry him. He's three years old.
"Hey munchkin, how are you?" I said carrying him. I've always wanted a little brother.
"I'm fine Adda." he said smiling.
"Where's Umma?"
"She's in the kitchen." he said pointing to the floor so that I can put him down. He ran away with his little legs as soon as I put him down.
I went to the kitchen and saw Umma instructing the maids on what to do. She's like a second mum to me.
"Salamualaikum, Umma Ina wuni." I bowed down a little to greet her respectfully.
"Lafiya lau Naisa, how are you and everyone at home?"
"Alhamdulillah, they sent their regards."
"Okay, Maymuna is in her room upstairs."
"Toh Umma." I gave her a smile and exited the kitchen then made way for the stairs. I passed the living only to bump into a hard body causing my bag to fall off.
"I'm so sorry, are you hurt?" A deep, husky masculine voice said making my breath hitch. How can a human's voice be that deep? "Are you okay?" I hear the voice again making my core tingle, shivers run down my spine and elephants rampaging in my stomach.
"Yeah." I managed to blurt out. "I'm fine." I snapped out of my trance and bent down to pick my bag not giving him a single glance but he grabbed it before I did.
"Here." he said handing me the bag.
I looked up to see Maymuna's cousin, Khalifa. "Thank you" I said collecting my bag.
"You're Maymuna's friend." He announced like it's the most obvious thing in the world.
Maybe that's because you guys have never talked before.
"Y-yes" I said stammering a little bit feeling heat traveling up my neck. Why am I blushing?
"Nice to meet you." he said.
I smiled to look less awkward. "Same." I stared at him for a nano second before he got the information.
"Oh, sorry" he moved to the side, giving me way to climb up the spiral staircase.
"You're late." was the only thing I heard as soon as I entered Maymuna's room.
"I'm so sorry, we actually had to drop Ya Fahad off at the train station." I unwrapped the veil around my head. "He's going back to school."
"Ya Fahad's gone." she said with a sad expression but quickly covered it up with a faked smile. My dearest best friend here has been crushing on my brother but doesn't want to admit it.
"Yeah."
"You're late." she said again trying to change the topic.
"I'm sorry."
"Well now it's too late for any project, I guess we might just hang."
"Sounds great to me, uhm where's ur brother?"
"He's probably in his room."
"Okay."
I grabbed my phone from my bag and texted him:
Me: I'm here .
Amour 💞‼️: look out the window😉
And there he is, the love of my life, clad in a grey tee that outline his biceps and black jeans. He waved and I waved back.
"Uhm Moon." I called.
"Na'am." She answered scrolling through her phone.
"I'm feeling hot here, why don't we go downstairs?" I said the lamest excuse that ever existed, making it sounds more like a statement than a question.
She scoffed. "Oh please just say you want to meet my brother, you know you can't lie to me. I know you since we were in diapers."
I gave her a cheeky smile. "Okay, you got me there let's go." I said retying my bun and tying my turban again.
"God I'm so jealous of your hair." she whined.
I actually got my hair and most of my features from Mamie. My hair stopped at my middle back, silky, black and curly. Adda Zee Zee is always jealous of my hair, hers is relaxed because she's tired of it's stubborn natural nature.
Mamie is fulani from Adamawa state while Baba is hausa from Zamfara state which makes me hausa/fulani, if that's a thing.
"Let's go". I draped the veil loosely on my head after making sure the undercap is covering my hair completely.
We got to the backyard of their house through the kitchen and met Imran and Khalifa sitting on the recliner chairs there both using their phones.
"Hey guys." Maymuna waved we reached where they were while I also did the same.
I took a sit opposite Imran and Khalifa. They are sitting adjacent to each other.
"Hey babe." Imran said making me blush.
"Hey babe hey babe." Maymuma mimicked his deep voice which she failed woefully at. "That's my best friend you're calling babe."
"Hey." I said shyly.
"Awn, she's shy" Maymuna said making me blush harder. Thank God for melanin if not I would look like a beetroot right now.
We were all drowned in our conversation when Imran's phone rang, he excused himself to answer the call. I stole a glance at Khalifa to find his entire attention dedicated to his phone. This guy has been awfully quiet not bothering to get involved in our conversation.
"Khalifa." I heard Maymuna call.
"Hmm."
"You're quiet today, is anything wrong?"
"No I'm fine." he said, his voice mixed with an Arabian accent.
I fished out my phone from my phone only to see 7 missed calls from Mamie. Oh my God it's already past six. "Moon I really have to go back home now, it's already late."
"Okay but Ya Imran just texted me that he's out on an errand, how will you get home?"
"Lemme call Mallam Tahir, he'll pick me up"
"Okay, let's go."
We went back into the house, said goodbye to Umma and waited at the front porch. In ten minutes, Mallam Tahir got here, I bade Maymuna goodbye one last time and entered the car. I am sure I'm in for it today with one of Mamie's speeches. I pray she doesn't ground me.
