A week later and we all mutually agreed to leave the spot near the Quidditch Cup
We exhausted our food supply at the market and creatures small enough for me to catch have been disappearing from the area
Every time I've gone out for a hunt I've come back empty mouthed
It's been frustrating to not be able to bring anything back for us, but I've been able to run free for a little while without stress from our situations so the trips aren't completely wasted in my opinion
"One more hunt before we leave?" I asked our group
Hermione was packing up our bags while Harry and Ron were discussing our next stop
"It doesn't look like a good day to go out" Ron said worried "I wouldn't risk it"
"I'll be ok" I pulled Ron in for a hug
"Be careful" Harry said
I hugged both him and Hermione too before leaving
They looked anxious today, possibly because we are moving locations again or because of the weather I wasn't sure but I nodded and turned into Vulpes
I ran out of the tent and out of our boundaries
The sun wasn't around today, it's been cloudy and raining on and off all day
Creatures would be hiding in burrows and under trees so it would be my best chance to go out while it's raining to find something
I ran around for an hour before I found a small squirrel that I was able to tackle down
The squirrel seemed to be running away from something when I jumped it, but I was able to capture and kill it before it got away
The first meal we've had in days
I grabbed the body with my teeth and looked towards the direction that it ran from
I don't see anything odd
I turned back towards the direction of the tent and was about to make my way back when an arrow went flying by my head
I wiped around and saw two humans hiding behind a tree
"Almost had it" I heard one whisper
"Get another arrow"
Muggles from a nearby village
I started running as fast as I could trying to outrun arrows being shot my way
I had to drop the squirrel to run faster, but I still wasn't quick enough
An arrow pierced my side and I went down with it
Fuck fuck fuck
My side is bleeding so much
I got back up before they caught up to me and limped away to a burrow that's was close by
I ran into it and laid down when I got to the center of the underground trail
It was completely dark but it was long enough that they wouldn't be able to reach me
"Where did it go??" The first one demanded "how are we supposed to eat tonight?! We can't catch anything with good meat and couldn't even catch an injured fox for its pelt"
"Let's keep looking...I do see a blood trail leading to that burrow"
Shit I have to move
I lifted my body off the ground and went towards the exit
Smoke??
"This will get it out" the second one said
I ran for the other side
Smoke again
They're going to suffocate me
"You wait on one end I'll wait on another" the first one said
Minutes went by
It's so hard to breathe
The pain from my side is throbbing
I'm in deep shit
"Hey who're you lot??" The second guy questioned
Two thumps hit the ground
What happened to them...
Smoke was still filling my burrow so I had to run for it
Left or right
I didn't have time to ponder it heavily
I chose the right exit and ran for it
"Fucking muggles" I heard the voice of Fenri Greyback say
I stopped running and slowly walked to my exit
He sounded like he was on the other side
He knows I'm an Animagus
The smoke began to clear and I could breathe again so I stayed hidden and waited to see if I could hear his conversation
"Why are we out here anyways?" Said an unfamiliar voice
"We're snatchers now. If we find Mudbloods or half breeds we can make a killing in money, what better place to look than the forest. We almost caught those other three suspicious Wizards in the last one" Fenrir said
Wait he has Fred's locket
This might be my only chance to grab it
"I wonder what they were trying to catch in this hole" another unfamiliar voice said
Three snatchers
"I think I see a fox" one said looking down into the hole I was closest too
I scurried back into the middle of the burrow
"A fox huh? That Black girl can turn into a fox" Fenrir said "get it let's see if we can bring it in"
My conscious was fading in and out and I knew I didn't have the strength to out run them
Both of the snatchers put their hands into the burrow trying to reach me but were unsuccessful
"I think they had the right idea with fire" the second one said "let's burn it out"
I can't wait I have to run
I took a deep breath and looked at my side where the arrow was pierced through
I'll have to use all my strength to run passed them...
One more deep breath
One end of the burrow was blazing with fire from a spell the caster said and I knew the other end would in seconds
I ran for it
I went as fast as I could with an arrow in my body and ran right into Fenrir's grip
"I knew we'd catch it" he said "you do look familiar" he said holding me by my tail in the air
I was wiping my body back and forth trying to get him to release me but then I heard spells being thrown our way
"Stupefy!!" I heard Harry's voice along with Ron
Fenrir fell down with me in his arm and so did one other snatcher
The last one dueled with Harry and lost while Ron went to grab me from Fenrir's grip
"You've covered in blood Vulpes" Ron said "you're bleeding..." he said picking me up gently "how did you get an arrow through you?"
"Look" Harry said pointing to the dead bodies that surrounded my burrow "two muggles with arrows they were probably trying to catch her to sell her fur" he walked up to us "Vulpes...you said you'd be back within the hour it's been a half an hour longer we got worried and for good reason it seems"
Harry walked up to the three bodies and used the spell Obliviate to clear their minds of us
From what they'll remember they were knocked out by an unknown wizard
"Let's go to Hermione she'll be able to heal you" Ron said holding me close but being mindful of the arrow in my side
I started to squirm in his grip
"What's wrong??" He asked
I looked towards Fenrir's body and saw the locket hanging from his neck
He hasn't sold it yet
"Oh I see" Ron said
"Careful" warned Harry
Ron put me down momentarily to go up to Fenrir's stunned body
He grabbed the locket from his neck and pocketed it
"Ok we can go now"
Ron picked me back up and we ran to the tent where Hermione was pacing back and forth
"What in the hell happened?!"
