Song: Hans Zimmer - time (to this day still one of my favorite composers besides Alan Silvestri and Ludwig Göransson)
Imagine; Loki ends up in an arranged marriage with you after his former wife, the queen, passes.
Q/n = Queen's name (you can make that one up)
As usual here's a pretty dress:
•••
He can still hear her voice calling out to him, to grab his attention for the words she last spoke to him before her untimely death. He was to find another woman, kind and good of heart, someone truly deserving to fill her place. To raise their child and to hopefully love Loki the way she does.
Loki still bitterly chuckles at that, she was so selfless, always worried about others, that's how they ended up there in the first place. She was too selfless to take good care of herself. Q/n never was one to put herself over others. And he's still furious about it, even after two years he is still so angry at that.
Things should've changed for Loki when Y/n arrived, even when he married her to please the ones around him, things should've gotten better, she is kind hearted and strong willed as well. She is just like Q/n. And for a while Loki truly enjoyed it, he began loving the woman just like he had with Q/n. And that scares him, so he began shutting her out and slowly everything changed, including Loki himself.
And that was exactly the issue.
His daughter is excited to have someone to guide her. To have a woman to talk to now that her mother is not there anymore. He tries his best to get along with Y/n, but he always gets reminded of his first love, a void that simply can't be filled, no matter how hard he tries. He gets defensive, mean even.
He always feels guilty, not that he'd ever apologise to her or tell her that he feels guilty.
She's miserable, he knows that much. She doesn't want to be near him, that is simply stating the obvious. When they're together it's nothing more than the occasional glance. Maybe a smile if he is lucky.
Odette, his daughter, however gets to see the way she truly is. She loves Y/n already and that's something Loki can't seem to cope with as well as he should.
Its in the afternoon that Odette and Y/n meet up in the library for their usual tea party that usually end in gossip and questions from Odette being fired at Y/n, which she quite enjoys because now at least someone is interested in her.
'Y/n!, I have something for you!' Odette giggles as she sits down on one of the couches.
'How come?' She replies as she takes the seat next to Odette.
'Its your birthday... you didn't think I'd forget did you?'
'Everyone else does...' she quietly mutters so Odette can't hear. Who does hear it is Loki, nothing goes unnoticed by him and because he's standing only a few feet away from the pair, he can hear their conversation clearly.
He isn't spying on them, he came here to read, but he just so happens to be close enough to hear it. A pang of guilt hits him when he hears how heartbroken she sounds.
Odette pulls out a selfmade drawing and Y/n chuckles. 'Why thank you my kind lady...' she quips as happy as she can be at the moment and Odette smiles.
'I love it Odette.. thank you...' Y/n comments when she takes another good look at it. 'This is the best gift I have ever received, well apart from you of course...'
'What else did you get today?' She curiously turns to Y/n.
'You're the first to give me a gift today... to give me a gift at all... my family... they're not this kind...'
'I'm sure someone gave you a gift..' Odette comments but Y/n shakes her head with sadness pooling into her eyes.
It doesn't escape Loki's gaze. The guilt seeps into him further
'Do you have any friends?' She asks and again Y/n shakes her head. 'Nobody besides you...you're my only friend...do you have many friends?'
'Yes! You should become friends with them as well! I'm sure they wouldn't mind!' Odette enthusiastically jumps up and Y/n only chuckles at her.
'I would love that...'
'Princess Odette?!, Princess Odette! Oh there you are! It's time for your classes!' Her maiden calls out and Odette pouts.
'Chin up sweetheart... learning is one of the many great things in life...you should cherish it now... see it as... going on this great adventure every time... what are you learning today?' Y/n asks.
'I'm learning how to sow...' she replies not so enthusiastic anymore.
'Well.. pretend you're sowing a large rug.. and that rug can take you anywhere in the world.. I'm sure it will go a lot better then...'
'I'll try it! I will see you after my class!' Odette waves at her.
'I'll be looking forward to it...' Y/n laughs back.
'Queen Y/n..' the maiden courtesies before taking Odette's hand.
Loki is surprised to see Y/n flinch a little at the mention of her title. He realises he made a mistake by pushing her away.
He looks at Y/n again through the bookshelf. He can see how happy she is with something as small as an ill drawn picture, Loki loves his daughter but she is nowhere near a great artist. But nevertheless, it seems to mean the world to Y/n.
He can also see the tear running down her cheek. The one she immediately wipes away as she lets out a breathy chuckle followed by a sniff.
It doesn't take long for her to break out in sobs. This immense pain she feels, it reminds Loki of how he felt many years ago, nobody should be feeling the same he felt. It was excruciatingly painful.
'I'm sorry...' he doesn't even register opening his mouth but the sudden silence and the startled look on Y/n's face prove he actually did open his mouth.
'What for?' She asks as if he hadn't watch her burst into tears just now.
'I pushed you away, I am the one making you feel miserable..' She looks away, swallowing hard. 'Don't deny it... you don't deserve to be treated like this..'
'I understand...' she replies.
'Doesn't make it okay...' he reaches out but then he gets slapped in the face with the ugly truth about what his actions caused, because she flinches away and quickly stands up. She even takes a couple steps back from him.
'I never meant to do any harm... I was afraid... and I do harmful things when I am and I know that of myself...' he sits down in the same spot Odette sat in.
He doesn't force her to sit down, he waits patiently for her to come closer.
'I like you Y/n, a lot and I got scared that I'd use you to replace Q/n... I felt guilty towards her while she was the one who told me to not dwell on her but move on... I'm sorry...'
She nods as she slowly sinks down next to him, to the couch.
'I am used to being treated like this..' she confesses.
'That's even worse... I am deeply sorry... so deeply sorry...' he gently takes her hand, she doesn't tense up this time around.
'I won't replace her... I can't fill that void but I can help you heal... I am not here to become Odette's real mother or your first love...'
'I know that, I realise that now... and I hope there is a way where you can believe my words...'
'I believe you...'
'I like you a lot... more than I probably should.. and Odette sure is fond of you.. I want to ask you for a second chance even though I am not worthy of one...like it was in the beginning...'
•••
(One year later)
Your dress here;
Loki stares at the picture. 'We should probably throw it away..'
'Loki! That is your daughters first gift to me! My first birthday gift ever! We are not throwing it away!' Y/n chuckles.
'Are you ready my love...'
'I was waiting for you...' she replies. 'Now now... this is a birthday present...' she chuckles as her eyes take over Loki's formal attire.
'Later darling.. we have to celebrate it first with the ball downstairs..'
'Fine-'
'HURRY UP!' Odette's fist connects to the door interrupting Y/n and Loki.
Y/n opens the door and steps out, her dress barely fitting through the door making Odette gasp. 'How is this for a dress?'
'It's... wow...I want one like that...'
'When you're older...' Loki chuckles from behind Y/n, he tries to connect his arm with hers but Odette is too fast. She takes both hands and stands in the middle.
Loki glances at Y/n and she shrugs with a smile. 'You'll have me all night...' she whispers. 'Let her have this one thing...'
And so Loki once again became the luckiest man alive. He still thought about Q/n everyday because his daughter resembled her. But Y/n had a fair amount of space in his mind as well.
He loved Q/n, and now he loves Y/n. Unknowing that his former wife was watching them, her spirit remaining there to see how haply he had become. Making her smile also. He kept his promise.
And he and y/n would live happily ever after...
Cheesy ending I know but I've kinda lost my mojo and I don't know why, and it's frustrating so.. this is about as confusing as WandaVision at the moment, still hope you enjoy though!
