Jonathan's POV
"Kate! Kate, can you hear me? Kate!" I yell into the phone. All I heard was a loud banging noise, and her screaming. I need to get to her.
"Kate!" I scream, banging my fist on the front door.
The manager should come soon. It's 6:07 in the morning. I bring the phone to my ear, hoping to her something to tell me Kate's alright. Silence.
I keep banging on the door when I hear something behind me. I turn around and see a car pulling into the parking lot, his face looking angry. I watch as he gets out of his car and starts walking towards me.
"What are you doing, banging on my doors?" He says, his voice higher then I thought.
"You've got to open the doors! She got locked in there last night, and I cant hear her anymore!" The words rush out of my mouth as I point to my phone. I see his eyes widen as I speak.
"Well, there shouldn't be anyth-"
"I know how dangerous the animatronics are, just open the stupid doors!"
He stares at me for a second, shock on his face, before he quickly searches for the keys in his pocket.
"Come on, we're loosing time!" I say impatiently.
Finally, he takes the keys out of his pocket and pushes past me to the door. He takes one of the many keys on his key chain and puts it in the lock, and pulls open the door. Without saying anything, I push past him into the building.
"Kate! Kate, can you hear me? Kate, where are you?" I scream, looking frantically around the room.
I notice all the animatronics are back on the stage. They look like they're staring at me, there menacing smiles seeming to tell me I'm too late.
"Kate!" I scream, ignoring the animatronics. I hear the manager walking in behind me. "Which way to the security office?" I yell, making him jump.
"Down that hall, then take a right."
I run down the hall, calling Kate's name as I go. I dodge wires and streamers hanging from the ceiling, frantically searching for any signs of her,
I reach the corner and turn right, still looking for her. Suddenly, the security office comes into sight, and I see what Kate was talking about when she said there were no doors. I look all around, when I find her. On the ground. Not moving.
"Kate!" I yell, running towards her. I get on the ground once I reach her, and place her head in my lap as I look her over. Her skin is paler then usual, and there's blood on her left leg. I don't want to, but I reach and touch her lower thigh, trying to see if its broken. I move her leg around, and it feels mushy. The bone has to be shattered.
I move my hand to her neck, trying to feel for a pulse. I feel tears forming in my eyes, the fear of loosing her to blood loss taking over me.
...
...
Suddenly, I feel something on my fingers. Still not sure, I move my hand to just below her nose, hoping to feel her breath. Once I feel the warm air on my fingers, I sigh in relief, letting the tears fall. But I can't relax yet.
"Hey!" I shout down the hall, trying to get the managers attention. I see him appear at the end of the hall.
"Is she okay?" He shouts, trying to see if she's alright.
"Call an ambulance, her legs' shattered!" I shout, looking back at Kate.
In the corner of my eye, I see him take a phone out of his pocket and dial the number. I have to get Kate conscious again.
"Kate? Hey, Kate, wake up. It's okay, you're okay." I say, slightly shaking her.
"Kate, can you hear me?" I ask, praying she wakes up.
I see her eyes start to move, and her face scrunches up from the pain.
"Kate?" I ask, more tears coming to my eyes.
She slowly opens her eyes and coughs. "Jon?"
I smile as tears fall down my cheeks. "Kate. I'm so glad you're awake. Don't worry, an ambulance it coming."
"Jon, my leg really hurts." She says, tears appearing in her eyes.
"It's okay, just don't try to move." I say, wiping away her tears. "We don't want a crying fest, do we?" I ask.
She try's to laugh, but it turns into a cough.
"It was horrifying, Jon, but so weird. Just before it was about to stomp on my leg again, it just froze and walked off, like I wasn't even there."
Before I can answer, I hear people coming down the hallway.
"Over here!" I shout, just as two paramedics round the corner. They jog down the hallway, another pushing a gurney behind them.
"Ma'am, do you feel any pain?" The medic says, kneeling down on the other side of her.
"My left leg. I can't move it." She says, pointing to her wound.
The medic places a hand on her leg, feeling for something. I watch as Kate's face scrunches up from the pain. I take her hand in mine, and she squeezes it.
"The Femur and Tibia are fractured." The medic says to the other two, before looking at Kate. "We're going to lift you onto the gurney, okay?" He says, the other two bending down next to her.
She nods as they get ready to pick her up. I let go of Kate's hand to get out of the way, waiting until she's on the gurney.
"One, two three." One says. I can see the pain in her face as they place her down, so I race over and grab her hand again. She looks up at me and smiles.
"You're gonna be alright." I say.
-= =-
"Is there anyone we can call?" A medic asks me once we are in the ambulance.
"Yeah, her mom." I say as the other two medics hook things up to Kate.
The ambulance jerks as it starts to move, causing Kate to squeeze my hand. The paramedics get to work doing whatever they're doing as we speed down the road to the hospital, the sirens blaring outside.
"Is she gonna be okay?" I ask, fearing the worst.
"Yes, she's going to be fine. She'll just need a small surgery to help align the bone pieces better before the cast." A medic explains to me. I nod. "How did it happen, anyway?"
"Um, well," I start, kind of at a loss for words. "One of the animatronics continuously stomped on it." I try to explain.
The medic thankfully doesn't question it. "I never liked that place. My kids always insisted we go there. But not after this." He says. Not knowing what to say, I just nod.
We finally reach the hospital, and everything seems to happen so quickly. The doors open and the medics quickly make there way out and into the hospital, making me loose my grip on Kate's hand and having to jog to keep up. Once inside, they race through the waiting room and towards a set of double doors.
"What happened?" I hear the receptionist call as they pass.
"Shattered Femur and Tibia." One shouts as they push through the doors. I start to follow when the receptionist stops me.
"I'm sorry sir, you cant go through there."
"But.." I start. But knowing better, I stop myself from starting an argument.
Sighing, I turn and look to see if Ms.Johnson is here. I find her and Mason sitting in some chairs by the desk, and I make my way towards them.
"Jonathan, what happened?" Ms.Johnson asks as I sit in a chair in front of them
"Kate got locked in Freddy Fazbears over night, and one of the animatronics crushed her leg." I try to explain. I see Ms.Johnson gasp, and notice Mason's in tears.
"I thought she left with you, so that's why I had Evans mom take me." He cries.
"I thought she was with you." Ms.Johnson says, thinking out loud.
"I'm so sorry I couldn't get her out, I didn't know any numbers, and I couldn't get the doors open." I explain, feeling guilty for everything.
"It's my fault! I thought she left with you, so I left." Mason cries.
"She told me she didn't like that place. If only I hadn't forces her to go, my poor Kathryn wouldn't be in surgery right now." Ms.Johnson says, tears forming in her eyes.
"Ms.Johnson, it wasn't your fault. And it wasn't your fault either, Mason." I say, hoping to take the guilt off.
"And Jonathan, I know it wasn't your fault either. You tried to get her out, and that's all that matters." Ms.Johnson says.
I watch as Ms.Johnson smiles, and then rests her head in her hands, trying to get sleep. I try to, too, since I was up all night. But then I hear the sound of someone fast approaching, and turn my head to see who I assume to be Sasha sitting next to me.
"Is Kate going to be okay? I drove as fast as I could to get here once I got your call, Ms.Johnson." She rushes out.
Ms.Johnson opens her eyes as Sasha finishes and smiles.
"Yes, Kate's going to be alright. She's in surgery now."
Sasha nods, and turns to look at me. "Are you Jonathan?" She asks.
"Yeah. Sasha, right?" I ask, extending my hand. She nods, and shakes it.
We wait in silence, all hoping the surgery goes alright.
-= =-
Its been about two hours, and we are still waiting to here whats happening. Ms.Johnson is reading one of the magazines, and Mason fell asleep. Both Sasha and I are keeping ourselves distracted with our phones.
Just as I die in Flappy Bird, a nurse walks over to us and clears her throat. Ms.Johnson looks up from her magazine, while Sasha puts her phone down.
"Is my Kathryn alright?" Ms.Johnson asks hopefully.
"Yes, Kathryn is alright. The surgery went smoothly, and shes in recovery right now. She's asking to see Jonathan." The nurse says.
Happiness spreads through me knowing that shes alright. Quickly I get up and follow the nurse down the hall.
"She's right through here." The nurse says. I nod a thanks and walk up to the doors. It's liked we've switched rolls since the last time we were in a hospital.
I open the door and peak my head inside, and see Kate looking at me. I smile and walk in.
"Are you okay?" I ask, sitting in the chair next to her.
"Yeah, my leg feels way better, especially since they've loaded me up on drugs." She says, making me laugh.
"I'm so glad you're okay. I don't know what I'd do if you weren't."
She smiles at me, and she looks as beautiful as ever. Her smile always seems to make me feel better. I reach over and take her hand in mine. She smiles again, making it feel like I have no worries at all.
"Thank you for staying, for everything, really." She says, sounding innocent.
I tilt my head to the side, smiling. "Of course I stayed. I wouldn't have left you." I say.
"Well, I didn't want you to feel pressured, as if you had to stay." She says, looking away.
"I wouldn't leave even if I got paid a million bucks. I stayed because I love you, and I wanted to make sure you were okay." I say. I see her smiling, and I notice tears in her eyes. I instantly worry if the medicine wore off, or if shes in pain.
"Hey, are you okay?" I ask, causing her to look at me. She smiles and nods, wiping the tears in her eyes.
"Yeah, thats just, probably the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me before." She explains, still smiling.
I smile, and reach to kiss her cheek. "You are the most amazing person I've ever met, you know that? And I'm so lucky to know you." I say, causing her cheeks to turn pink.
"Ditto." She says, making me feel jittery inside.
We sit in silence for a few seconds when I remember that every ones probably still worried. " I almost forgot, your mom, Mason, and Sasha are out there. I can go get them for you." I say.
She looks at me, somewhat shocked. "They are?"
"Well of course. They care about you just like I do. Well, maybe not exactly like I do, but you get it." I say, making her laugh.
"Yeah, can you?" She asks.
"Yup. Be right back." I say, opening the door.
I walk down the hallway back to the waiting room, and see Ms.Johnson, Mason, and Sasha all staring at me.
"She asked me to come get you guys." I say.
Sasha quickly gets up and walks over to me, and Mason and Ms.Johnson soon join.
"Follow me." I say, leading the way. Sasha and I walk a bit faster that the others, so she takes the time to ask a few questions.
"So you're Jonathan." She says, not looking at me.
"Yup. That's me." I say.
"So you and Kate are, like, dating?" She asks. I look at her, the question unexpected. I mean, we haven't really discussed anything, but I guess, if I like her as much as I do, and she likes me and shows it, I guess we are...
"Um, yeah. I guess you could say that." I say. This time, Sasha looks at me.
"Wait, so you guys are, or are not. Like, yes or no?" She says.
"Yes." I say.
"Okay. Just make sure you treat her alright. I care about her, and I don't want to see her getting hurt."
"Me either. I really like her." I say. I see Sasha smiling, and I think I have the right to say my answer satisfied her.
"Great. Hopefully I'll get to know you better, and maybe not in a hospital." She says.
"Yeah, I'd like to stay away from hospitals from now on." I say as we reach the door.
Sasha reaches for the handle and bursts through the door, running to Kate.
"Oh my gosh, Kate are you okay? I mean, I know you're okay, but are you feeling alright?" She asks, making Kate laugh.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." She says.
"I'm so glad." Sasha replies, wrapping her arms around Kate.
"Oh, Kathryn, are you okay?" Ms.Johnson says, walking through the door to the other side of Kate.
"Yes mom, I'm alright." She says, smiling to her mom.
"I'm sorry I left you Kate! I thought I saw you guys leave, so I got a ride with Evan." Mason says, sitting at the bottom of her bed.
Seeing Kate look so happy makes me smile.
"What did the doctor say?" Ms.Johnson asks. I forgot to ask her, so I'm curious to know.
"He said I just need to stay over night, then I'm free to go." She says. I watch Ms.Johnson's face turn from relieved to disappointed as she throws her head up in frustration.
"I have to work tomorrow, so I cant stay with you."
"I can." I chime in, making them all look at me.
"You could?" Ms.Johnson asks.
"Of course." I say with a smile, making Ms.Johnson sigh with relief.
"Thank you, Jonathan. You're a great help."
"It's not a problem." I say, catching Kate's eye. She has a smile on her face.
"Well, I'm so sorry sweetie. I have work at 11, and it's already 9:15. I'll try to stop by later tonight, but I've got to go." Ms.Johnson says, looking at her watch.
"Love you sweetie." She says before planting a kiss on Kate's forehead and getting up.
"Love you too, mom." And with that, Ms.Johnson and Mason walk out the door.
"I've got to go, too. I promised Megan I'd help her buy a new dress for something or whatever. Love you girl, so glad you're okay." Sasha says, giving Kate another hug.
"Glad you came." Kate says as Sasha stands up.
"I'll text you, K?"
"Alright. Bye, Sasha." Kate says. And then we're left alone.
Kate's POV
"And then there were two." I say, making Jonathan laugh.
"Yup." He says, sitting in the seat next to me. "You hungry?"
"Uh, yeah, a bit." I say.
"I can get some food if you want. I think I saw a place across the street. And I know you don't want hospital food." He says, making me laugh.
"You're right." I say as I watch him get up.
"I'll be back, okay?"
"Okay."
-= =-
I look up when I hear the door opening, and see Jonathan carrying a paper bag and what looks like a deck of cards. The smell of french fries instantly fills the room.
"Hope you like burgers." He says, taking one out of the paper bag, along with fries.
"Who doesn't?" I say with a laugh.
After we eat, (which was way better than any hospital food) Jonathan takes the deck of cards and starts to shuffle them.
"Whats your favorite card game?" He asks.
"What?"
"We've got to keep ourselves entertained somehow. So choose."
"Hmm, too many to pick from." I say, making Jonathan roll his eyes playfully.
"Lets start with go fish."
So we do. We play card games from Go Fish, Slap Jack, Golf, Crazy Eights, and many more until 10:30.
"I'm too tired to play anymore. Plus, my fingers ache from all the shuffling." I say, getting into a more comfortable position.
"Yeah, me too." He says, dragging another chair over to get more comfortable, instantly making me feel bad.
"Are you sure you want to stay?" I ask.
"I wouldn't leave even if you paid me. Now rest." He says.
And soon after I close my eyes, I end up falling asleep.
-= =-
I wake up and check the time. 10:36. Normally, I'd yell at myself for sleeping in so late, but I don't really care. I look around to see Jonathan on his phone.
"Morning." I say, causing him to look at me.
"Morning, sleepyhead." He says, ruffling my hair with a smile on his face.
Smiling, I sit up and fix the fuzzy halo I call my hair.
"Um, I think the nurse is coming with something for you to eat." He says, putting his phone away.
"Did you already eat?" I ask, concerned
"Yeah, a few hours ago." He says, instantly making me feel embarrassed to have slept so long.
But just as I'm about to say something, the nurse walks in.
"Morning, Kate." Says a nice, older looking nurse as she walks in with a tray of food. "Here you are."
She sets the tray down on the table next to me, which has a bowl of Cheerios, and apple juice.
"A news reporter is coming to ask you questions about everything that happened, is that alright?" She says. Confused, both Jonathan and I look at her.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"You know, now that they caught the guy who did everything, they were going to question you about what it was like at Freddy Fazbears, and how you got out, and everything else." She explains.
"But we dot even know who did it, or anything. We're just victims." I say, confusion filling my brain. I watch as the nurse gasps.
"You don't?"
"No, we don't know anything." Jonathan says, sounding as confused as I am.
"Well, the news reporter's here now, so I'll go tell her." The nurse says, rushing out.
I look at Jonathan, who's looking just as confused as I am. Then we hear the nurse and who I assume is the news reporter outside our door.
"Wait, they don't know."
"What do you mean, they don't know."
"They only know what happened to them. Nothing about who did it or why. You'll have to explain it."
"Really? Okay, I'll try."
Then, the door opens, and a woman with shoulder length black hair walks in. Shes wearing a grey suit and holding papers in her hand.
"Kate, Jonathan. My name is Karen Jensen. I'm here to tell you whats been happening."
She looks at us expectantly, and we just nod.
"I want you to save your questions for the end, okay?" She asks.
Again, we nod.
"Do either of you recognize the name Issac Newsberg?" She asks.
I shake my head no, and I see Jonathan is, too.
"Well, you should. He's the one who did this to you."
Still confused, I just nod.
"So, he's your age, and he went to both of your schools. He originally went to your school, Kate. Wait, let me start over. We caught him from the security cameras at Freddy Fazbears, and for some reason, he was willing to answer any of the police's questions. So he told us that he targeted Kate because he said he had asked you out, but you rejected him." She pauses to look at me. Embarrassed, I look to the floor, remembering that.
"He then transferred schools, going to yours, Jonathan. He told us he targeted you because you and a sports team had bullied him." Now it was Jonathan's turn to be embarrassed, as he looks to the floor like I did.
"So, we found out he has PTED, which stands for Posttraumatic embitterment disorder. That means, in the words of psychiatrist Michael Linden, 'they feel the world has treated them unfairly.' So basically, Issac feels you guys treated him unfairly, and he wanted to revenge, ultimately planning to trap you in the abandoned building. He told us he's the one who blacked all the windows and locked the doors. He explained he was hoping you would end up dying, but thankfully that did not happen. He also told us how he did it. You both were supposed to be at a Fourth of July party the night you disappeared, correct?"
We both nod. I'm now really curious.
"He said he had put a drug in each of your drinks to have you pass out, and he then, once you had passed out, brought you to the building, and gave each of you another drug to make you wake up with amnesia, which means you has lost your memory."
It makes sense now, why we lost our memories.
"So he then told us he hooked up the security cameras his laptop to watch you. So when you escaped, he became angry enough to try again. That is why you were drugged, Kate."
Shock is the emotion I feel. I saw him. I saw the guy who did this to us.
"So you're saying I saw him? And," I pause, at a loss for words.
"Yes, you did see him. But now, you know what happened. Do you have any other questions?" She asks.
I shake my head no, and so does Jonathan. So then the news reporter does what she initial came to do. She asked us questions about the animatronics, what we did to stay away from the animatronics, and how we managed to survive in there for three weeks.
"Thank you so much for answering these questions. It was great meeting you both." She says, getting up and shaking each of our hands.
"You too." I say. And she walks out the door.
We stay silent for a few minutes to process what just happened.
"Wow. It's a lot to take in. So she said he was in jail?" Jonathan asks.
"Prison, for attempted murder." I say. It feels like I was just slapped in the face, taking in that much information at once.
"Well, they doctor said you could leave, right?" Jonathan asks me.
"Yeah." I say.
"Well, I did say I'd take you to that diner in Seattle after you got out, right? It'd be something to get our minds cleared, after hearing all that."
"I totally forgot. You up for the drive?" I ask, feeling hungry.
"Sure. But there's somewhere we need to go first."
"Where?" I ask, getting curious.
"It's a surprise. Lets go." He reaches for the crutches the doctor brought in this morning and hands them to me. I get up and we make our way to the front desk to check out.
"Can you please tell me where we're going?" I beg as we make our way to the parking lot.
"Nope." He says. He helps me into his truck and gets in to the drivers side.
We drive for about ten minutes when I start to recognize the rode.
"Why does this rode look familiar?" I ask Jonathan, whose smiling now.
"You'll see." He says.
He parks the truck alongside the rode and helps me out. Once we're both out, we make our way down a side walk, a strong feeling of deja vu in my mind. Then I see something I definitely recognize.
"Is that the store we stopped at to get directions? After we got out?" I ask.
Jonathan just grins.
I soon start to hear what sounds like construction up ahead, and I see a construction site. As we get closer, I realize where it's at. The Freddy Fazbears building
We walk up to the construction site, the loud noise making my ears hurt.
"Can I help you two?" A larger man asks as he walks towards us.
"Um, yeah. Whats going on here?" Jonathan asks.
"Well, the building's pretty old, and needed to be torn down. So that's what we're doing."
I look around to see large trucks digging and pulling things. A wrecking ball is doing most of the damage, as the cement walls are being smashed to pieces before our eyes. I also see a big pile near us, and it happens to be all the masks, empty suits, endo-skeletons, and the animatronics.
"What's gonna happen to the animatronics?" I ask, a shiver running down my spine.
"Uh, I think some company wanted to use them for some horror attraction. Can you imagine what it must of been like for those kids who were stuck in there with 'em? Gives me the creeps just lookin' at 'em." He says.
I feel Jonathan squeeze my hand, as if warning me not to say anything.
"I wonder..."
"Well, I gotta get back to work now, so uh, just stay as long as you'd like." The guy says before walking away.
I lean against Jonathan as I watch the construction go on. It's awful, what happened to us, but I did get something out of it. I got Jonathan, the person I care about more than anything. And I wouldn't be where I am now, with the one I love, if I hadn'd been taken to Freddy's.
Holy cow guys. That's it. I thank you all so much for deciding to read this story. Each and every read I get, I feel like the luckiest person in the world. This whole story was one of those crazy 2am ideas I just decided to make a reality. My whole goal for this story was 15 reads. And to have more than 3,000 is mind blowing. You all mean the world to me, and I wouldn't be here if it wern't for you.
When I first started this story, I was scared of the game, which is why I wrote about it. I just decided to write about something I was scared of, and now, the games don't even phase me, really.
But speaking of fears, I actually have an idea for another story! It won't be FNAF related, but I really recommend reading it. And it may have a few characters you'll recognize *hint hint*
I'll post an update on here once I start it, and be sure to follow me, so you can get notified by that, too. I really have enjoyed writing this story for you all, and I want you all to know how much you and this story mean to me. This story means to me as much as Kate means to Jonathan, and that's a lot!
So thank you SO MUCH FOR READING! Please comment any questions you have about this, I'd be happy to answer them!
Don't forget to
