"Can we watch a movie?"
"No, Zak, for the last time. We can not watch a movie. You told me I could study!" Techno complained.
Zak huffed, leaning back in his chair. Techno could probably spit on his paper and get a better grade than him.
"Yeah, well, I lied," Zak responded, standing up. "I'm going to blast Kazoo Kid until you watch one with me."
Techno threw a pencil at Zak.
"Watch it yourself."
"No, that's boring."
After a minute of playing Kazoo Kid, Techno slammed his book shut.
"Okay, fine, just turn that stupid kazoo off," He muttered.
Zak grinned, closing out of Youtube and sitting down on his bed.
He decided that it was only fair Techno picked the movie. But when Techno pulled out the movie "it", Zak shook his head.
"No. Not that one. Absolutely not." He insisted, objecting to the movie almost immediately.
Techno raised an eyebrow, an amused smile forming on his face.
"What? You scared of horror movies?" He teased
"Yes. I am absolutely terrified of them."
"What are you, a cowar-"
"Yes." Zak cut him off.
Techno ignored Zak's protests and started the movie.
"Come on, it won't be that bad," Techno said, sitting down beside Zak.
Zak sighed. Maybe it wouldn't be too scary. Besides, he'd hate to look like a fool in front of Techno.
30 minutes in the movie, Zak had his face buried into Techno's shoulder.
"Nope," He repeated, though his voice was muffled.
Techno had never really been touched before, so to have a 16 year old boy clinging onto him because he was terrified of a movie was weird. Though, it was partially his fault, so he didn't shove the other off like he usually would.
"Zak, they are literally walking down an alleyway. There isn't anything scary going on." He tried to assure him, though that seemed to make it worse.
"Are you serious? Everything happens in the alleyways!" Zak said, his reply still muffled.
He could have easily taken a pillow to cover his eyes with, but Techno was the closest thing to him. And he was not about to look up.
"Just watch it for a second."
Zak bit his lip, hesitantly glancing up. Techno was right. Nothing was happening.
He kept his eyes on the screen for a bit longer, when suddenly there was a fucking clown starting to dance like a downright fool. Flames were in the background of the scene. To be honest, that sounds pretty funny, but Zak was not having it.
Techno wasn't all that phased, but Zak was clinging onto him again, shoving his face in Techno's shoulder yet again.
"Techno! Why'd you make me look?"
"I didn't know that would scare you," Techno shrugged. He clearly found the scene quite amusing.
Zak did not.
"I hate clowns. Clowns are even worse than how you act when you forget your French homework."
Techno could visibly see that Zak was trembling. He looked as if he was beginning to get nervous, and freaking him out was never Techno's intent. So, he reached for the remote and shut it off.
"You good?" He asked, turning to face Zak.
"I am amazing," Zak said sarcastically, "I dropped out of college for this."
"It is extremely rare for 16 year olds to get accepted into a college. Especially if they have not even graduated from high school yet."
Zak rolled his eyes.
"I wouldn't be surprised if you got accepted into a college."
"Really? I'm flattered," Techno rolled his eyes.
After 10 minutes or so, it was getting late, and Zak knew his mom wouldn't be too happy to know that he'd stayed up late again.
"I'm going to bed." He announced, interrupting Techno, who was going off about how many types of apples there were and how interesting it was.
"Okay. Uh. I'll just go to the couch in the main room, then, if that's fine."
Zak, for a half-second, forgot Techno would be staying here. He was quick to offer to sleep on the couch.
"No, that's fine! You can have my bed."
"Zak, it's really not a big deal, I'll go to the couch."
"No you." Zak grumbled.
"Yes me," Techno insisted.
Zak made a suggestion after a couple minutes of them going back and forth.
"How about we sleep together?" He said, half-joking.
"Alright."
Zak was surprised at how quick he was to agree.
Techno picked up on Zak's surprise.
"According to research, it isn't all that weird for two friends to sleep in the same bed for if it's just one night. Platonic friends, especially teens, tend to sleep in the same bed or beside each other during sleepovers or visiting over night. But, every friendship is different, so that can't be proved. Would you be fine with it?" Techno asked.
"I mean, yeah, I'm fine with it," Zak replied, "But where do you get all of this information, and why do you know everything?"
Techno shrugged, making it clear that if Zak asked again he would give his normal response, "Research."
Zak lied down, staying mostly to the other end of his bed to make room for Techno.
It couldn't have been more than 5 minutes before Zak said, "The opposite of waterfall is firefly."
"Stop."
Zak starting quietly snickering for a good amount of time before becoming silent again.
When he heard the soft, yet even breathing of Techno, he knew it was probably time for him to get some rest.
He layed there for a while, his eyes closed, and eventually, he fell asleep.
