The Moth doesn't care when he sees The Flame. He might get burned, but he's in the game. And once he's in, he can't go back, he'll beat his wings 'til he burns them black... No, The Moth doesn't care when he sees The Flame. . . The Moth doesn't care if The Flame is real, 'Cause Flame and Moth got a sweetheart deal. 𝔼ntering the building where I'll work, anxiety took place in my mind but I tried not to show it. It's just like any other day but now I have the most important thing, my job. To be precise, from today I work for a cosmetics company. I barely got a job even with a Ph.D. in pharmacy. It was a tough choice but in the end, they went for me.
So here I am, trying to prove that I belong among the grown-up, working people, this is the start of my new life. God, I am so anxious and tired. Barely sleeping can do that to a person. I've done all I could to make myself presentable but I'm afraid nothing helped. My long hair is tied in an updo, and I'm wearing a professional white shirt and navy blue pants. I made sure to put enough foundation to cover my pale complexion, and my blue almond-shaped eyes are standing out with blue eyeshadow and a bit of eyeliner. Of course, all of that wouldn't be necessary If only my mind wasn't overheating. I came up with everything that could go wrong today, covering anything from tripping to getting diarrhea.
With a sigh, I wiped my sweaty hand before going into the room which will be my office from now on, and it is better than I imagined. It's still unreal to think this is mine, it's like this is some other universe. It's my office. There is a table, just a regular table really, made from wood, appearing to be vintage or something like that, with a black, massive chair. It's near a big window but the look from it is another story. It's not anything beautiful but it's my window. I will be looking through it every day from now on for who knows how long. It's on the sixth floor so there are buildings around it and a street below.
A crowd of people is going back and forth, while cars speed in their direction, only stopping for a red light. It's marvelous. It reminds me that I'm here, protected, working, while they are running around trying to grab their place in this mad world. A smile made its way on my lips as I take a look around. There is a shelf with some books and a coffee table with two armchairs. It's like everything you see in movies or tv shows. Well, they are a big company so I guess everything needs to be professional. While biting my nails, I went through everything that shall be my responsibility from now on. For a while I read some documents, getting to know our projects until my boss entered, rising me to my feet so fast that I almost knocked off the papers I was holding.
-Oh don't get up, no need to be so formal. This is your office. I just wanted to see how you settled in. Is everything okay, will you be able to catch up with what I want you to do?- I smiled and nodded quickly.
-Of course, everything is great, I'm just getting familiar with the surroundings.- I said while fidgeting with my fingers. I'm feeling rather uneasy in front of this man. He is around fifty with a round face and almost bold head. Surprisingly for a man of his age, he barely has any gray hair. With a neatly done black beard and his hair as black as night, he appears younger than he is. Also, his bulk figure could make him look somewhat frightening if not for his face. There is always some tight smile on his face that makes him seem thoughtful. At first, since it's a cosmetics company, I thought this place would be crowded with women, but that's not the case. I guess business is business, it doesn't matter if it's a female or male domain.
