Strolling down the halls you reach the vast collection of books your uncle held in the Avengers tower. No one really appreciated it's beauty, the architecture that engraved itself on the hand crafted shelves and wooden stairs led upwards to the second level.
The fire seemed to always crack and pop whenever you were there, of course this was no ghost, rather an intelligent voice in the walls igniting wood on command. The sleek leather couches were always warm, welcoming for relaxation.
Boring is what the day had entailed. There was a lack of parts in the lab and ideas in your head so you decided on some reading or maybe even a nap in the library. You could have taken one in your room but the smell of old books was just intoxicating.
Upon entering you saw a figure leant back facing the fire. His raven hair rested lightly on his shoulders, graceful fingers flipping the page of his muse. The soft scene in front of you sent a different type of flutter through you, something that spoke nothing of lust but rather longing of embrace.
"Boo," You rest your hands on his shoulders causing only a small jump from him.
"Hello, darling," emerald eyes kept themselves on the pages as you peered over his shoulder.
"Whatcha reading?"
"The Great Gatsby, quite the latch it has on me,"
"Haven't read it, but the movie is great," you smile Cheshire-like and add on. "I love how Leonardo DiCaprio looks in it,"
"Teasing me like that won't work, kitten," as he turns another page, you feel his hand lead you to the space left on the couch. "You're lucky I've just started," laying flush with your back to his chest, you feel yourself curl up nicely.
"Are you going to read to me?"
"Does it appeal to your bored mind?" With a nod, he chuckles and presses his lips against the crown of your head before letting the words slip off his tongue like honey. Soothing you slowly, you cuddled closer to him, his arm wrapping securely around you as he read comfortably and softly.
Eye lids droop delicately over your eyes, a small intake from you trying to keep yourself awake. Your shaking head makes Loki chuckle quietly. "Rest, darling, I won't leave you,"
"Promise?" You yawn.
"I promise," that was all you needed, letting yourself drift off, listening to his smooth voice and the soft pops from the waving fire.

Loki's POV
Her breathing became more even. She was surely asleep but to make sure I used a mirror to glance at her face, soft delicate locks framing her face perfectly. Calm and peaceful, her noses flared up with every intake making a small smile tug at my lips.
Placing the book down on the coffee table I adjusted slightly, pulling her closer. I had not a clue to when she had drifted off but she was fast asleep at this point. Our legs tangled together as she moved to face my chest, her soft breath sending a flutter through me.
My fingers combed through her hair, lips placing soft kisses against her head. I promised not to leave her, and I wasn't planning to do so anytime soon.
I was graced with the knowledge none of those barbaric heroes bothered with enjoying the pleasure of literature so I was sure we were not to be caught.
Scandalous? Gracious no, but I wouldn't exactly like to be confronted by Stark for my closeness to his niece. Not for my sake but rather hers. Stark and Y/n did have a discussion on trust but she may be testing her luck with such intimacy with I.
More than I would like to admit, the feelings she caused to rise up in my chest was intoxicating, annoying and exhilarating. Never have I felt such a way... for any being of any gender, on Asgard or on Midgard, for those be the only two realms I've visited.
I couldn't help but ponder among the thoughts that seemed to cloud my everyday actions. Every move I made, glance I stole or step I took, it always seemed to be towards her.
And that's what scared me.
It scared me worse than when I found my heritage, met that Titan, faced my crimes and nearly lost my mother. (Yes, Frigga survives in this book!)
For death, conviction and lies were always a norm for me. But sentiment? Love? This was new.
So very new.
I wished for her to find someone better, more worthy of her affections but I fear if I was to speak my concern she would realize the worth I lack and leave.
She deserved more than me. More than this- this monster, this sad excuse for a being that should have been left on that decollated rock of frozen plain for being abnormal, an unlovable excuse of an heir.
"Loki?" Her concerned mumble snaps me out of my daze. "Are you ok?" Even her groggy voice was adorable.
"Of course, darling, why wouldn't I be?" I coo softly.
"You seem a little distressed," She yawns, hugging me tighter. "Go sleepy night,"
"Sleepy night?"
"It means go to sleep, dummy," A soft smile tugs on her lips as I kiss her temple. "Nighty night,"
"Nighty night, darling," I repeat with a small chuckle.
