"To wed?!"

Claudia jumped up from her seat startling all of the maids that were dressing her.

She was outraged at the fact that her mother had went up and called on a suitor and invited him to their palace and no one even bothered to tell her.

Claudia locked eyes with Moira. "Did you know about this?"

The old woman's silence and the guilty expression was enough to answer her question.

"How long have you known of this?" Claudia gritted her teeth.

"A month." She mumbled loud enough for her to hear.

"An ENTIRE MONTH?! And you didn't even bother to tell me?!" She roared taking a hairbrush from the table and throwing it across the room.

An innocent young maid came in with beautiful sapphire jewellery and the other maids were too scared to open their mouths as one of their own walked over to the princess oblivious to what was happening.

"Your Highness, these jewels will look gorgeous on you." She smiled widely but it faltered when all she got in response was a murderous glare.

"Take that to the stables and feed it to the damn cows, for all I care!"

In another moment Claudia would've felt guilty when she saw that the young maid was close to tears but right now after she found out that about a marriage proposal that was already fixed without her consent, she couldn't care less about the feelings of a maid.

Yes, she was being rude, but what if one day you found out that you had marry a complete stranger, huh?!

Queen Castella had enough of her daughter tantrum that was entirely unnecessary to her. She was acting as if she swore to be a spinster all her life.

"Claudia, enough! We're already getting lat-

"That is all you care about, isn't it?!" Claudia shouted back.

All the other women in the room except for Moira were shell shocked at how their princess was behaving towards their mother.

The Queen glared at her daughter. "I care about your well being and our-

"No you don't! You don't care about my wellbeing! You care only about your status as Queen and you only care about marrying me off because I am nothing but a burden to you!"

Claudia stomped towards her mother with tears of anger and betrayal welling up.

Moira tried to intervene before this could get worse than it already was. "Claudia, let's not-

Claudia glowered at her mother with boiling hatred for the woman who she apparently had to call 'mother'. No mother would do what she would've done.

"My father would've stopped you the moment to even brought up this precarious idea in the first place.

My father is the only person in this entire world who ever understood me.

Even Moira was more of a mother to me than you ever were."

Castella's hands twitched and Moira went to pull Claudia away from what was going to happened but she was too late.

The Queen brought up her palm and slapped Claudia across the face, the force of it made the princess stumble back.

Claudia looked at her mother, not surprised of her actions. It was a known fact that one day her mother would inevitably lose it infront of her daughter.

Even since what happened to King Arthur, the entire family were at each other's throats, especially Castella and Claudia, Arlus was away fighting with their enemy kingdom and it had been years since she'd seen him too.
