"Hotch, I know that this case is hard for everyone but we need Jean working it with us. Where the hell is she?" muttered Morgan, looking up from the stack of files right in front of him.
Hotch shrugged and returned back to what he was working on, not thinking twice of where Jean was. He assumed she must be mulling over the revelation he dropped on her and didn't want to go find her and make her even more anxious.
"I'll go find her and give her a good talk to give her some pep in her step, brighten her spirits a bit, that'll do her some good!" Garcia smiled as she made her way out of the bullpen and towards the entrance.
Garcia made her way through the breakroom, the bathroom, and the downstairs area. When she came up empty-handed after looking in these spots, she began to get worried.
She took her time and hit several more floors in her search for Jean, hoping that she'd spot her by some odd chance and that the nagging feeling in her gut that something was wrong was all for nothing.
With no luck on any of the floors, Garcia made her way outside, praying that she would find Jean in her car stress-eating Hostess donuts and blasting cheesy pop music to relieve the stress that had been brought on by this case.
Garcia could tell that she was taking on Spencer's worries and was concerned for him and wanted to get this done.
She almost wanted to assume that Reid and Sanders were perhaps more than friends, but what would she now?
Garcia glanced around but was met with the sight of a parking lot full of cars, none holding her dear friend Jean. "Jesus, Jean, I love you but now is not the time to go run off" she muttered under her breath as she retreated back inside.
As she was heading inside, she stopped in her tracks when she saw an empty Snickers wrapper laying on the ground.
"We only have one Earth and people still choose to litter. Ridiculous!" she exclaimed as she picked it up and headed to the trash can to throw it away.
She huffed and angrily threw away the wrapper and proceeded to head back to Quantico when she stepped on something that caught her attention.
"What the hell?" Garcia said, bending down to see what her heel had stepped on.
Below her red heel stood a Marlboro cigarette, the butt of it still eliciting smoke, proving that the owner had left it here only minutes before she stumbled upon it.
Garcia's blood suddenly ran cold.
She ran into the building, running up the several flights of stairs to reach BAU's floor. "Hotch, put an APB out for Jean right now" she yelled, tears beginning to fall down her face as she shouted.
"Garcia, there's no reason to do that. Jean probably just went off on her own somewhere to take a break. Calm down" Emily said gently, heading to hug Garcia to attempt to calm her down.
She pushed Emily off her harshly. "You don't understand, Emily. I haven't been able to find Jean anywhere and when I went to find her outside, I found her favorite brand of cigarette lying on the floor, still lit. She was here and now she's gone!"
"Garcia, babygirl, there's a whole building of overworked agents here in Quantico. That cigarette could easily be anyone's. Plus, when has Jean ever been a smoker?" Morgan questioned, oblivious to the danger Jean was currently in.
From the other side of the room, Spencer interjected himself into the conversation quietly.
"Guys, she's doesn't like people knowing but when she's really stressed, she'll have a cigarette or two. It's not something she likes everyone knowing" he pointed out, his heart beginning to beat rapidly at the thought of his Jean being in danger.
"If you guys don't want to believe me, I'm pulling up the security footage from the camera that sits right outside the doors right now" she shouted, frantically typing away at her laptop, not resting until footage began playing on the screen in the conference room.
The team watched in silence as Jean smoked her cigarette and looked out into the dark parking lot thoughtfully.
They could feel what was coming but were pleading with the video that it would show them Jean heading back inside and that Jean would walk through the doors any moment now.
Instead, the video showed them the cold-hearted truth of Jean getting forcefully shoved into the back of a black suburban and it speeding away into the night. Right as the video was about to finish, the video caught something that made Spencer's heart stop.
There, in the flesh, was Cat Adams. She gave a wink to the camera before flipping it off and driving away.
Reid immediately got up and slammed his hands on the table, the file he was studying now all over the floor. "She stripped me bare of everything, my youth, my naivety, my morality. Now, she's gone and taken the love of my life. I'm going to fucking ruin her" he yelled out.
He ran out of the room to collect himself as the team stood with their mouths agape. Spencer seemed completely unaware of the fact that he declared his love for Jean not only in front of his team members, but also Hotch.
Hotch could feel his heart shattering into a million pieces as he looked at the footage being replayed of Jean being shoved into the vehicle. He had to put on a tough face for his team, even though on the inside, he was breaking.
"Morgan, Prentiss, I need you to put together everything we currently have on Cat Adams. JJ, call the local police and tell them to shut down every entrance and exit within fifty miles of Quantico. Garcia, send out that APB on a black suburban. Put out Cat and Jeanette's picture along with it" he said firmly.
Hotch leaned against the white board and pressed his hands against it, resting his hands against his forehead as he let out a sigh.
"Hotch, we're going to find her. We've beat her once at her own game and we'll do it again. We're going to bring Jean back safe and sound" he whispered.
"Morgan, notice how you didn't promise that" Hotch said solemnly. "There's no guarantee that she's even alive at this point, what makes you think we still even stand a chance at finding her alive, you and I both know how these types of cases end".
"Hotch, our Jean is a fighter. She will not go down easy. Have some faith in our girl" he said in a hushed tone.
"Morgan, I have all the faith in the world in my girl. I just don't know if my faith will be enough".
